The more i think about all the players that we have been linked with and players said to be going and how are team could look next season. the less i actually think that we are in dyer need of anyone, i know what your going to say but here me out. our team last year should of really finished higher than we did, if we started off better. and with the players that we have coming through the ranks i dont think that we need any players that much. the only player i would get is Defoe, because he would be a good influence on Beckford. just a thought what do you think ed? {Ed011's Note - You are not far wrong, we haven't lost at home this year and we are not far off from challenging liverpool and spurs, but as we say every season it is crucial we get a good start, if we can get 4 points from the first two games and avoid our usual injuries i think we could have a good season

Believable7 Unbelievable1

I see where your coming from, but we do need somthing in the wide areas, we have nothing there at the moment, people keep moaning about Billy, he's NOT a wide player and if we put Arteta on the right(i think this is his best position) it takes one away from the middle, but most important thing this year, is too stay injury free. i have no problem with players getting injured during matches, but ours always seem to get injured during training, something is fundamentally wrong with that, and it needs to be looked at

Ed youv'e finally got me excited. The site is down tomorrow, is this coz you been told to get to the old lady or FF, as were about to sign someone or more than one. Tell me it's happening Ed plz plz plz {Ed011's Note - Now your getting carried away, i would have to have a lie down if we signed someone, i would probably faint out of shock. Us loyal blues keep the faith and lets have a laugh at the rabble over the park. They are getting slaughtered on the main football page by the mancs.

It seems David Moyes was telling the truth when he said don't listen to any rumours other than those COMING from himself. I trust in him. But I wish he would tell us what is really going on! COYB

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I really think that when we have offloaded our deadwood (yak, yobo) we will sign some players, i am planning on watching the villareal friendly, i am hoping we have some decent names in by then. COYB

for all the fans...who are not old enough..let me tell you about a player, who i wish was available in today, s transfer market.....BOB LATCHFORD...he was ..for me, the best centre forward of my generation. he would get us into the top 4.....i estimate he would be in the £50 million price bracket!!....service him..with tricky trevor stephen & sheedy on the left, and we would probably win the league!!!...hey guys...lets hear some of your dram teams, past and present or a mixture of both it could be fun....and it might take our minds off the present treansfer fiasco....yours faithfuly..

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I'd go for Southall; Stevens, Mountfield, Waggy, Baines; Limpar, Reid, Kanchelskis; Beardsley, Ferguson, Lineker. Bit controversial including a red but Beardo is one of my all time favourites of the last 25 years...and he scored the winner against that lot!

Agree1 Disagree0

Ferguson in his prime was awesome, with dare i say it a raw wayne rooney when he first broke through with Kanchelskis and Limpar terrorising on the wings.Exciting footabllers who would scare the opposition. The kancheskis anfield derby was a great game.

Dixie in there possibly?

djalo and long are the only 2 strikers we should bring in and don't go for any other striker
also what is going on with charlie adam, are we still trying to sign him or is he going somewhere else

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Are you telling me if Sturridge is available you'd favour Long? Rumoured on Sky sports that Adam's been spotted with the other lot. Moyesey's brother is his agent. Why is he engineering a move there??? {Ed011's Note - If everyone stays at goodison i don't think adam would get into our midfield, let the overspending norwegians have him.

Agree3 Disagree1

But sturridge isn't available and he'd cost over 10 million if he was
we should just go for long and djalo
and if for some odd reason sturridge is availible and within our price range i'd take take him without a doubt
but for now we should get long and djalo

I think saha and beckford if both fit should start off as our first choice strike partnership next season and whoever we bring in will have to fight for a place, velios will hopefully improve a lot this season as well.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Saha is a class act. But sometime soon Moyesey has to cut his losses if he can't get fit.... and stay fit.

I was telling my son about the first match I went to without my Dad. It was against Arsenal in about 89. I was standing in the Gwladys end by the paddock with a mate. My son couldn't believe it that when we scored, the surge took us over to the family enclosure! We won 3-1 (I think). Good times! Favourite shirt? There's been a few decent ones (and a lot of duff ones) but I liked the first one sponsored by Kejian & the navy away by umbro. Oh and the home shirt from the title winning side in 87 also brings back happy memories!

Agree0 Disagree0

My daughters first match was blackpool at home this season. What a first game to watch, amazing goals entertainment and goodison was rocking. Beckfords volley was so good. My favourite shirt is either the cream one from last season or the one to one away shirt from the 98-99 season, the third strip from that season wasn't bad as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

Does any remember the 4-4 against leeds at home under walter, awesome game and in terms of atmosphere coventry at home in 98/99 season was fantastic, goodison was like a bear pit that day, 2-0 to the blues

so rumours of Stoke after Sturridge for £6m ??

FFS !! Kenwright and the Board, get your hand in your pocket ..especially Grantchester and Green ...or sell !

any news today Ed ? {Ed011's Note - The new ones today are that athletic bilbao are keen on arteta, we are set to miss out on Feyenoord star Leroy Fer and louis saha is sleeping in an oxygen chamber to improve his fitness for next season.I believe n'zogbia remains the no 1 target and i believe there is a chance of getting bothroyd. There is no doubt the fans want and deserve a big name for next season.

Would prefer Sturridge myself

Sell Fellani for 20m? not a chance
And N'Zogbia for 17m, don't think so

Agree5 Disagree1

Why have you valued N'Zogbia at £17M? And as you appear to have relegated the club captain to the bench, who would be your skipper? Additionally, I wouldn't drop Distin. He only made 2 or 3 noteworthy errors in the whole of an ever present season.

Agree4 Disagree1

We should be playing distin and selling heitinga as he has questioned evertons lack of european football chances

Hi fellow blue noses. Any rumours going around today?? What do people think about a cheeky offer for nicolas anelka. He's gonna be leaving chelski and could get him at a decent price. His age and wage demands could be hampering, but he's french and could fit quite well with saha and be a help to guaye.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Anelka and Saha, what a great partnership that would be!!!He has spent time up north in his career, so maybe a possiblity

If Magaye Gueye comes good this year, which I think he will that'll be one of the wingers we're looking for.
Bily could be good but he seems to need to work on his upper body strength and tackling, he loses the ball too easily.

If you look at the team we have

Howard
Neville/Hibbert
Jags
Distin
Baines
Arteta (left) (Bily as cover)
Rodwell/Heitinger (centre)
Fellaini (centre)
Gueye (right) (coleman as cover)
Beckford
plus one other from cahill / saha etc

it's not a bad looking team
let's not panic about no transfer news

we could do with one quality forward but they're hard to find, that's the only one we really need in my opinion

this team is a decent team but some of the players look a bit lazy to me.
Only when the crowd get up about something do we see some of these guys really getting stuck in, especially our midfielders, some of them are not even going for 50 50 balls a lot of the time. Against teams like bolton and wolves etc you can see their 'less talented' players busting a gut for 90 mins, but some of ours need a kick up the backside to get them moving.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

What about Osman? Narrowly beaten into 2nd place for our player of the season

Agree4 Disagree0

Ps plus Osman who can play in a number of roles

Agree3 Disagree0

I think it is more likely that Coleman will be on the right and Gueye and the left and moyes will sell Arteta to get funds to buy a forward. this is what i want him to do because if we can keep Rodwell and Fellaini, they could be good together next season. I know Hibbert has been with us forever, but he is not good enough to start at this level anymore

Agree5 Disagree4

To be honest I don't see it with Coleman - I know it was his first year and he's still developing but 2nd half of the season he lost the ball almost everytime it came to him Defenders had worked him out and his head dropped. Moyes might make something of him though at right back.

Arteta on the left and Gueye on the right would frighten the life out of a lot of teams, with fellaini+rodwell/johnny in the middle.

A lot of sport is psychological. A lot of teams would look at that international standard back four plus recognised quality midfielders and think we had the better team, then they wouldn't fancy it as much.
Gueye is the key for me. If he steps up and does the business we've got a good team. Just need a top forward, avoid multiple injuries and I think we're nearly there.

Agree6 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more

Agree2 Disagree0

It wasn't Coleman's first year. He was on loan to Blackpool and showed he s attacking Right Back, he isnt a winger. He is the best at finishing a move off and he can defend ok. He will hooefully be are RB for the future. We need a Right Winger and A left Winger. Billy has had his time it does take 3 season to become a world class player. Moyes needs to accept he was a poor signing even though he has scored some great and important goals for us.

so....still no news from the everton camp on who we are targeting, ..does this mean we are keeping things secret..or that due to financial restraints, we will not be doing any business?..i hope its the former!..maybe its because we are waiting for the 1st of july, for the foreign window to open? i really dont know, but am getting very frustrated, at the apathy that seems to be coming out of goodison...personally i dont think any of the big names being bandied about are realistic, nzogbia, defoe, & sturridge. we cannot afford the wages!..never mind the fee. this makes me feel that long is the only realistic target, with possibly a loan signing...but iv got to say..im as sick as a sea going parrot when i see teams like sunderland spending big money...come on blues..give us some news, give us some hope, just something!!!...yours faithfully...coyb.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

And neither will you get any news until signings are confirmed. To my knowledge the club never reveals targets or budgets. I know it's frustrating being kept in the dark. We're all anxious to get signings on board.

Agree2 Disagree0

We all know the cloak of secrecy that surrounds Everton when it comes to transfers, but there is a fundamental reason why this would be. On the basis that we are the poor relations in the Premier League compared to others, the secrecy cloak over all our transfers covers up for our inability to pay transfer fees, players wages etc. If it came close to us signing a player then the chances of someone stepping in to gazump us are high so we need to protect our interest as much as we can. This does not get away from the basic fact that we have no money to spend therefore it is unlikely that we are going to be able to compete with other teams when quality players become available. It is all very depressing when we see other teams spending big on players that would definitely improve our squad. We have a very good group of fifteen or so players, but last season was definitely one of "what if". If we had a goalscorer then we would have been challenging for the top four again, but to buy a player to do this requires serious investment and unfortunately the current owners are either unwilling or unable to fulfil this obligation. I think it is probably a combination of both, but as custodians of the club, they are the ones who have brought us to this position, so the responsibility lies fairly and squarely with them.

Agree7 Disagree0

Great article mate.....you make some good points...well done ps...hey ed, s...how about having a section for best articles of the week...chosen by you, , , , this would be a contender. {Ed011's Note - Good idea, anything that helps this page grow is a good thing.

The way football has evolved it is nearly now common place for teams to play 433. If we can keep, and they hit there full powers, imagine a midfield trio of Barkley, Fellaini, Rodwell. To me that looks awesome. Lets just say you could get nzogbia , hallum hope(lets give these kids a real shot) to partner beckford that too looks very strong bags of pace and all 3 can get a goal. Thoughts gent??

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Great Idea. In Moyes we trust!!!

Another very quiet and disappointing transfer window for us Toffees...

Mucha out, Lonergan in

A back up left back on the cheap ... possibly Lee Wallace or the lad from Swansea

No new midfielders ... holding on to Fellaini, Rodwell and Arteta will mean we're ok there

The only new striker will be on a free ... hopefully a Moyes gem from overseas rather than Bothroyd...

Ho hum ... we're skint
