The problem with Lukaku, and I've moaned about him for a long time, is his head. He has all the attributes to be the next Drogba, sadly in his head he already is. This convinces him and a lot of our fans that its the poor service he's getting. i'm sorry but he could asily be in double figures and more this Season the chances he's had, so that is not poor service. He's a little like Ross B, last season, just doesn't know what to do or how to put himself into a game. I thought v Soton maybe it had clicked but alas he's just been getting worse every game. Not only does he lack the intelligence to know how to put a stamp on the game, he just doesn't seem motivated to want to change either. What does he need? a kick up the backside like last season when he got dropped? I don't know. I can only think Big Dunc must be tearing his last remaining hairs out as I just can't believe he is performing to instructions from Big Dunc, rather he is just not doing it. Its time to act because its going on too long and and it could cost us games.

{Ed025's Note - i have to admit that i agree with a lot of that howie, he goes from hero to zero from one game to the next, there is no doubt he has skills but controlling the ball is certainly not one of them as his second touch is usually a throw in..

I say drop him. It'll wake him up. Give other players a chance. I like him as a player but nothing like dropping a player to make them deflect and think twice about how they are doing

Good read Howie. Now I've dropped Lukaku from my fantasy football team he will soon be back scoring again.

Although he is failing in his primary task (scoring goals) he doesn't always play badly. Against Chelsea the other week he had a good game, and made loads of space for Naismith to score. I personally don't think he is the right type of striker to play up front on his own, due to his poor first touch

agree he a bit off but will get us plenty of goals this season i'm sure still really glad we have him be great to add another top striker in jan and give him that compitition he needs

While I don't condone what Mirallas did yes it was a red and he deserves his punishment, but I can understand were the frustration came from, he sees players been played in wide positions that are not wingers and yet he is been given the odd run here and there if Martinez did not want him why didn't he just sell him then, Bobby is partly responsible for this he gave him a new contract and told him he is part of his plans just don't know what goes through that mans head at times.

I think your being a bit harsh on Bobby there Stef the blue. I whole heartedly think Martinez does want him and most definitely will need him in the future.

I do understand what your saying and also understand Mirallas's frustration in a way. But he should act like a professional and take his chance to impress when it arises. Nothing to do with his sending off. I'm talking in general. I wouldn't make a big deal about his sending off. I'd just forget about and move on.

I'm a fan

Continued: I'm a fan of Mirallas. I think he is brilliant but can be hot and cold. I think Martinez is trying to somehow get the most out of him on a more continuous rhythm. Trying to get him to be more consistent. There's no doubt about it. Mirallas can be the difference in wining a game or losing. He's that type of player

But no player is bigger than the club and no player should think they have an automatic place on the team. He should be a professional and put his head down and force his way into the team.

I have no doubt Mirallas will play plenty this season. It's a long time till May and he'll get plenty of chances to get into the team. Just needs to be patient. And when he does get in make everyone think he should be picked more often. Which I think and hope he does

I like mirallas as well but coming on with a couple of minutes to go is ridiculous! he should have been given longer he's a proven senior player, he may also be an option up front instead of Lukaku who is out of form at the moment he has plenty of pace and is one of the best in a one on one situation!

No doubt he has got talent but there must be a reason why he has been used sparingly by the two managers he has played under at Goodison. He's had his fair share of injuries since he joined us but, even when fit, he either starts and gets taken off or he comes off the bench. It's been suggested before that his stamina is questionable, not sure if there is truth in that or not but it would certainly make sense.
I could understand his frustration at lack of game time but he has to be professional and not let his emotions get the better of him. Wasn't the worst tackle in the world but it was worthy of the red that later transpired. I just hope RM does not hold it against him too much or for too long.
I'm not a big fan of making subs so late in the game. Someone like KM has the ability to change a game with an assist or a goal but giving him less than 5 minutes is asking a bit much. RM should have given him at least 10 with the instructions of being direct and running at the full backs when they are naturally tiring. No real point in keeping a player with such ability on the bench until time is nearly up.

for me team is doing pretty well so far why change think come the second half of season against lesser teams we will see a lot more of lennon mirallas and delboy three points from west brom will have us in a strong position considering the tough games we have played so far
