"Contracts mean nothing nowadays, Pip is obviously hell-bent on destroying his career as everything is a step down from us. "
Just copy and pasted this from the neighbours site. This proves the delusion of them lot haha, they say Coutinho shouldn't be paid because he refuses to play for them because he wants to go to Barca, yet, and this is the best bit, they are happy to tap up VVD and condone him doing to Saints what Coutinho is doing to them, tell you what I really am made up I was born not manufactured ETID.

95% of Liverpool fans and ex-players are warped and hypocritical, delusional is probably the best word that describes them. One rule applies to them etc. They accuse City and Chelsea of buying the league when they have constantly thrown money about over the years on ya Aquillanis, Andy Carrols, Bentekes. It's best not to pay attention to them unless you want something to laugh at.

That's it, I wanted something to laugh at.

25 Aug 2017 21:43:23
Couple of weeks ago I was just having bit of a laugh saying about having a go for Costa but after hearing Koeman today, that was a huge smile when talking about him. Could something be going on with talks, plus a loan deal will suit everyone including him, he only wants to go to Athletico Madrid but they can't play him till January plus playing in champions league won't be a motive as he won't get that till next season.
I have a feeling this could be a deadline day biggest story, as the whole Costa saga has to be sorted one way or the other.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - why would Chelsea loan out Costa?}

25 Aug 2017 22:11:59
Because Chelsea don't want him, and to be honest, i don't want him at Everton, great player but to be honest, to hot headed and can be a bad influence to other players, just my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - there are clubs interested in buying him - they don't want to deal with him again next summer.}

25 Aug 2017 23:39:01
Come on am I hearing things some people don't want Costa, I could not care less what he is doing to Chelsea maybe if the manager spoke to players instead of text then we would not have this story.
For me if it's possible that we can get Costa on loan be it on loan till January or end of season then it's a no brainer as it puts us right in mix for top 4, maybe even a title challange, he is in same league as an Aguero or Sanchez. He could be the last part of an incredible summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 23:53:55
Surely Atletico would want a fully match fit Costa, so it would be in their best interest to have him go out on loan until January playing at a decent level and if Costa is adamant he will only go to atletico then Chelsea really only have two options, leave him to rot in the reserves or loan him out because it doesn't matter if there are 3 other clubs wanting to buy if he will only sign a contract at atlectico.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are making this stuff up.}

26 Aug 2017 09:22:32
It will take till January to get him match fit! Who do we buy then? Or are you hoping we'll have the league in the bag by then.

We could buy another striker in Jan but it will take time for him to settle in. The time is now to buy the striker we need long term.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2017 15:47:30
Ed02 of course i'm making it up how could I ever having a differing opinion to your highness.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not differing opinions it is what the digerati refer to as embarrssingly stupid made up nonsense - "Chelsea really only have two options, leave him to rot in the reserves". Idiot.}

26 Aug 2017 15:52:00
So ed 002 are you saying Chelsea can make Costa sign for whoever they want?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Of course they can't. I said nothing of the sort. Did your mother repeatedly bang you on the head as a child?}

25 Aug 2017 20:17:39
Can anyone let me know what's happening with Luke Garbutt. I know he went to Wigan last year but has he been loaned out again - thought he was going to be good.

Would be happy with point on Monday - desperately need a forward next week - Rooney can't play every game - him and Sandro need to play behind Calvin Lewis and new Man.

I think Koeman / Walsh will pull out a blinder - gibson and Costa?

Re Koeman's comments on Costa, is he not just being smart? Come 11th hour on deadline day if we have failed to get any of our striker targets he's keeping a door open for what could be a very shrewd loan signing. It could also be a disaster but I think he's just sending a message to the Costa ego.

Is it me or does Davies not look the same player as last year? Seems to run around a lot but without any point. No tackles and doesn't press quick enough. Looks lethargic in his play. It's like having 10 players on the pitch when has played this season.

Any idea why?

I think it's more just your used to it now. it was refreshing and a shock last year but now it's just the norm so maybe u r just not as excited by what he does anymore but i think it's very harsh to say it's like having 10 men when he plays i think he controls play a lot even off the ball his closing down stops other teams having the time to pick passes out.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 17:18:47
That's harsh. I was very vocal about him not being as special as some were saying last season but took a couple of mouthfuls from my slice of humble pie. I haven't eaten it all yet though. He doesn't posses the pace and power of the top players who are the all action centre midfielders of this era, e. g. pogba but I questioned if he'd even have a decent premier league career when he first came through but I'm now certain he will.

Agree0 Disagree2

25 Aug 2017 17:39:23
When he came on last night, we had our best spell of control, it's no coinsidence, think he will only get better as he matures, still lacking some upper body strenth, but when he is full grown, you won't get him out of the national side for 10 years.

Hey blues, just having a little think about what points would make ne happy from our next 3 PL games. Chelsea away, Spurs home, Man Utd away. I'd love to get the maximum obviously but personally i think if we can pick up 3 points I'd be content with that. Such a tough run of games that i don't want anyone thinking I'm being negative, just realistic that taking anything from title contenders is progress.

Thoughts?

I think lower than 3 would be disappointing, and i hate to say it but it could be the reality. We have made great strides with the team though and we have a good shout of beating spurs. Chelsea and Utd will be so tough that i think taking any points from those 2 matches is a bit of a bonus. I think the gulf in quality is a little much for us just now, but another season or 2 and we could be right up there.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2017 14:06:43
Koeman has confirmed more than once that he definitely wants a striker before the deadline. I'd say we need a pacey winger too and cover for Baines whose started the season really well but is getting on in footballing terms. I always thought Garbutt could do a job but RK clearly doesn't rate him. The lad Perez at Arsenal would make sense as we were keen last summer. Lots of other targets have already moved. Whatever happens - should be an interesting week.

Before the window shuts, please can we find a replacement for Williams he is always a liability, if not then a 3rd behind jags, who may be slowing down, but at least has a football brain.

Need a replacement for besic as well as the man's a liability.

Agree2 Disagree3

25 Aug 2017 18:51:32
To be fair, Besic has never had a run of games since he signed. Either too inexperienced or unlucky with injury. He needs a bit of time to find some form and since he's barely played in the three years he's been with us, he might not even recognise what that form is supposed to look like. In terms of style, I regard him as somewhere between Morgan and Gana, but not as good or confident as either. He's a dogged chaser of his mark, hacking away at their heels (probably why he picks up a lot of cards) but his passing is often very tidy and accurate. Off the ball, he still seems to have this weird bent over stance while staring at the ball at an opposition players feet, which suggests he's highly focused but this can slow his reaction time and allow players to pass him while he's getting back to upright. Strange habit. Can't doubt his attitude and still young. He will get better if given a run, which he might get now if Gana is out for a while. Needs to stop doing silly back heels. They have literally never worked for him.

So much negativity and unrealistic expectations. Its actually embarrassing to read some of it. People should get a grip on things and stop making themselves look like morons.

You do know that Man City were bought near 10 years ago and with untold millions spent, have won the title a grand total of. ONCE! and that was all down to a crazy last 2 minutes where other results counted. They also have been atrocious in most of their Champions league campaigns.

We have not attracted the striker we desperately need. We have been bedding in so many players, too many to be advisable in one go. That only an idiot wouldn't give the club massive credit. Not only have we won 4 drawn 2 after an early start to our season.
We have controlled games (at least tried to and its clearly going to be a "trait" of our style in the coming years) playing kids and new faces. We needed Europa qualification last night. The pressure on that game was immense. Playing a team that has not lost a euro tie at home in 8 games? impressive and worthy of respect.

I know this is a "banter" page and I get nothing has to be factual necessarily but it makes for a hard read. Some people should note that when Blackburn threw money at it (the first club to do so) it took them 3 years to win the league. Then Chelski threw mind boggling money at it and won the league in 2 years. Now all the top 6 clubs in the prem are mega rich and spend so much money on their squads that we will be hard pressed to close the gap. Our money man only owns 50% (not complaining) and he is great! but he isn't doing a Abramovic or a Mansour because as City have proven. spending over a Billion Β£s only seems to buy you 1 title. yes 1! Get real and get some perspective please before you make some glib comment about how we are still rubbish and last night we were lucky this or lucky that. Get on the flight and enjoy the ride. If we get 6th this year that would be remarkable.

Koeman has played a blinder so far. I think I will follow him over some bloke called "Evertonblahblahblah" calling out Besic for being rubbish last night. When we can start to spend Β£200 mil on mediocre defenders (City) then and only then can we all start talking like idiots.

After last nights performance for me a LM/ W and left sided defender CB or LB should be our top Priorities. DCL looks so much better playing as a striker and unless RK is still after his 1st choice CF then I would prefer to see more game time given to DCL. I thought Gylfi looked class and although he is mainly CAM he looked very accomplished when playing on the right side in the later stages of the game. RK is really building a team. The future is looking really bright at the moment. COYB.

Good result a brilliant goal by Sigurdsson and is Pickford 2 for 2 on penalty stops or am I thinking of the England game? Anyhoo.
Our defence looks strong and Ashley Williams I would of given man of the match to. Absolutely outstanding last night.
Martina getting more confident in left back. For a freebie that was really good business. The last 5 minutes when we were just passing the ball around I found highly entertaining brilliant possession play and we looked confident doing it.
Sadly I thought there was some negatives. Still lacking the main forward and Lookman looked off again 😣. I'm hoping Lookman just needs the confidence and will just play the game and not over think his opportunity at Everton.

Chelsea next let's stuff them at Stanford Bridge. I still feel we dropped 2 points at City and not just do well to get a point.

I said Williams was MOM just as he gave the penalty away!

Sig looks like a bargain to me. His goal was what genius players do. I mean players who are a couple of steps above the rest.

Lookman was poor for me and his ball retention is a major problem. I think a loan to a championship club would have been better for him. I still think though as he gets a little older he will be a magnificent player for us.

The MOM in the end for me was Davies. As soon as he came on we took control of the game for the first time. The last 20 minutes or so literally took any momentum out of them and we started to look like A top premier team. There was one chance were we put 30 odd passes together and should have ended with a goal.

If we'd have done that in the city game we'd have 6 points on the board.

Finally, Pickford. Again. Brilliant. Nothing more to say except Big nev might finally have a buddy to join him at the top table in 10 years for Everton goalkeeping legends.

Still undefeated.

Ed025 for me he came back from the summer break in poor shape he had put a few pounds on, although pre season works it off it is not good practice for a seasoned pro that is of his build, he has looked slower and likely to give away needless fouls. You would think with the competition for starts he would be right on his game.
