Well we got through so that's that. However the worrying thing for me is the distinct lack of pace in the team and the reluctance to have a shot from outside the box, Accra Bale? And unlike some I feel really sorry for Jelly, works his nuts off on his own up front but is constantly outnumbered two and three to one. Moyes had to give him support, as this wouldn't be the first striker he would have ruined this way. But still we are through so it's a start.

Job done tonight. Wigan next. Think we need this cup run to inject a bit of energy into the players.
Done well tonight, Oldham made it difficult playing the biggest game of the lives.
Would love to see Coleman and Mirallas stay fit till the end the season and get a run together down the right. Pace, creativity and energy.

Now can all EVERTONIANS please support our team, or go and support the fickle other side! We are Everton and back our team all the way! Now get behind our team and follow them all the way to Wembley!

We all support our team it's our manager we don't support and his negative ways we don't support.

Posted this morning, feared tonight and wanted class display. Didn't happen but hey ho we through. Chuckle brothers still in defence is worrying, why though at 3-0 didn't we see subs to kill em off? Not convinced if we meet any quality we will progress.

Distin cannot defend crosses and corners

Believable3 Unbelievable5

U mad he was class tonite, ok he was slow for the goal but there striker smith that came on the pitch is immense in the air

Agree0 Disagree0

Durr - second poster - have you seen how many corners and crosses we're conceding from at the moment?

Distin seems to have lost the ability to jump in the air.

The only people jumping and attacking crosses are the forwards - our defence is standing on the floor.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you will find a lot of the headed goals against us have been scored by players Fellaini has been marking.

Agree0 Disagree0

Durr third poster, to be honest 90% on corners should be down to are keeper who seems reluctant to come get it, we let teams pressure us last 15mins of games when were tired lump enough balls in the box one will evenually come off

Are the tv commentators living on planet doolally?

All three or four of them saying the Gibson ball to hand is a definite penalty!

Do what? Why on earth would he handball a ball that is being blasted up field out of danger away from the goal? You can even see him trying to get his hands out of the way but our panelists are so keen to get a bit of controversy going - and give Oldham an extra reason for indignation - that they'll call that a penalty
What a bunch of knobs

Hardly any mention of jelavic being wrestled to ground at least twice

Nice one childs Dixon and nobby southgate and its obvious addy Townsend doesn't like Everton much either

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Dixson said gigson was embarased when the ref did not give a pen, man who should be embarased is dixson & co, never a pen in a million years, just more anti everton bias, and not a word about jell being kicked off the park all night.

the commentators and pundits fall over themselves to big them up

cant see Moyes leaving think its been crazy the last couple of weeks/month! however if he does I do NOT want martinez. If we get rid of Moyes mainly for his half season rubbish why bring in martines whos team doesn't get seriously going until the last ten games!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Isnt wigans budget similar to our own? so apart from the brand of football he plays with his teams, I don't see what else he has to offer :/ wudnt we just end up like wigan? I just thought he would need money to make a good team playing that brand of football because you need specific players

Anyone else wanna give Adrian Chiles a couple of swift, sharp jabs? The guy's a knob! 'Everton need to score goals and not concede'? More words of wisdom from the jug eared one.

Hopefully we take it to them tonight from the off, just hope don't tell um to sit back with 20mins to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Another pathetic, inept, lathargic display but job done and that's the main thing. Being outplayed for sections of the 2nd half against a league 1 side was embarrassing. We're out against Wigan if we continue to perform like that, the whole team looks smashed on temazepam and JD. What happened to the Barca-esque performances from earlier in the season?

Howard gk
Coleman rb
Jags cb
Distan cb
Bainesy lb
Oviado rm
Barkley cm
Felli cm
Peanut lm
kev am/cf
jelli st

love to see ross and Oviado given a chance. Plus kev behind the striker, I think he would be more influentual there. PLus felli a bit deeper can help with the threat of their 6 foot 6 striker.

Hopefully we get knocked out tonight and Moyes walks. Get a young, interested manager in who doesn't bottle it and wants to actually attack! {Ed025's Note - why would you want that???..our season could depend on tonight!...i get some daft posts on here..and this is right up there..

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Reds, go on your own page. Everyone has an opinion, but with ones like that you don't deserve one!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes and let's hope we tumble down through the divisions to the conference like say Luton Town. That would be really great. And maybe if we went bankrupt like Portsmouth or even have points deductions too. Rangers is another club to inspire us. Maybe we could have supporters days out at the samaritans as well where we all commit communal suicide. That would be fun too.

heard a few people on here spouting on about who they want in the 11 etc, who should play against oldham etc etc, tonight should be the strongest team possible v oldham i'd like to see this, rest a few of the older boys that are needing a rest

howard
stones jagielka distin baines
coleman gibson barkley oviedo
mirallas jelavic

subs

kennedy
vellios
fellaini (dropped him simply because he's mouthing off and droped form)
osman
heitinga

future is looking good though I must admit al give david moyes that he has done well in getting future boys in that will be ready next season and they deserve it

imagine in few years this group of lads added to some of the boys we have now future is BLUE

springthorpe
coleman stones duffy garbutt
kennedy barkley lundstram oviedo
francisco
green

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Springthorpe
Stones Hammar Duffy Garbutt
Kennedy Junior Green Oviedo
Barkley
Vellios

Future Squad.
Rotations around Gueye, Coleman and McAleny

Agree0 Disagree0

A strong starting 11 is paramount tonight. Personally i`d drop Osman, move Pienaar into the middle and stick Oviedo on the left. Jelavic up top with Fellaini, and tell Jelavic that if he goes anywhere near the wings chasing balls he`ll be fined 2 months wages.
In the event that we are reasonably comfortable in the second half, Barkley or Junior on to replace Pienaar.
Have a sneaking suspicion though that Captain Phil might be in the 11 that starts, not a bad thing regarding leadership and pointing, just wish his footballing ability was as good as the game he talks.

Not a rumour, but does anyone think Baines can do a Bale and play in a central attacking role. He seems to be our biggest threat going forward, has a lethal shot on him and always seems to find a way of getting in behind the opposition defence, so why not?

Jelavic
Piennaar Baines Mirallas
Fellaini Gibson
Oviedo Distin Jags Coleman
Howard

Give ossie a rest, he needs it.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

The silliest thing I've ever heard first and foremost Baines is a defender an attacking one at that, so what makes he can play center midfield god only knows i'm just glad your not the everton manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines attacking midfield role. no!

Agree with resting/dropping Ossie tonight.

Alastair

Agree0 Disagree0

He could play in the middle on the right or anywhere. because he really is that good but I also think him and nuts are the best left sided partnership in the country, on there day and tbh once they click again I think it will all click. I know it it's gut wrenching when we are getting beat in the manner we have been of late and I'm all for trying new things and playing players in roles they wouldn't uselly play in but a think putting baines in there would be a bit drastic. Stranger things have happened though remember Steve Watson going from RB to cf and banging a few goals in aswell. Just be patient lad baines will start to get behind defenders from LB COYB! {Ed025's Note - to be honest liam, peanuts has looked tired for the last month, and that has made baines less effective, he needs to regain form..and quick..

Agree0 Disagree0

I really don't see why not mate. It seems the Baines and Pienaar combination has been sussed out of late. As has the Fellaini role. Mixing it up a bit is certainly what is required. We make it too easy for our opponents to prepare for our games. Far too predictable.

P. S. Hi fellow Blues, Ed025. It's been a while. {Ed025's Note - hi wiz..nice to hear from you mate, and your right, we are predictable at times, lets hope he mixes is up a bit tonight..

Woke up this morning thinking tonight might be one of the most important nights in our clubs recent history. NOTHING but an emphatic win against Latics will surely satisfy even DMs most loyal followers. We want to see passion, commitment and class- if not they will have us!
Firmly believe that by 10. 00pm tonight we will have a better idea about the future of our club.
Please God we can sort out high ball in box and cut out the dithering at the back!

As far as I am now concerned, the failure of the club's board to find the £30 million that was needed as the club's share of the waterfront stadium is now the root cause of our present inability to move onto the next level as a football club. Without the income that a modern stadium would have brought, not only are we now not attractive enough financially to prospective investors, let alone buyers, but we cannot fund the transfer fees and wages needed for the better players we need to strengthen and deepen our squad. Even if some of our young talent comes through, we would still need to transfer in players - and for that we realistically are forced to sell in order to buy. As for wages, the financial fair play rules will restrict us - and to make it worse we're now reporting annual losses, which will be a big "no-no" under the impending UEFA and EPL financial rules. Perhaps our only hope now would be a ground-share with that lot across the park, but why would they throw us a lifeline? The people's club we might be, but you'd think that our board are the pauper's club! DM might not be without criticism for some of his tactics and player selection, but I don't blame him if he's thinking he's taken the club as far as he can in its present financial state. Everything that happens at the club comes back IMHO to the owners of the club (the current board), whoever the manager and players might be, and where we are - and more importantly where we could go - is down to the board.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Disgrace, the kings dock failed because of kenwrights ego. gregg would have financed the 30 million everton needed, but bill would nt step down. and to make matters worse he found earl to buy up his shares, and earl has done what. the man is a not fit, he may love everton but loves the idea of running everton more,.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you about BK, it is his ego. He wanted total control and when they said no he pulled the plug on the Kings Dock project.
What gets me is when he keeps saying no one will buy us because we don't have a modern stadium.
The mans a complete joke.

The kopites favourite word 'Bitter' to describe us is laughable, if you dare to disagree with anything they say, its the normal turn away and mumble 'bitter' to their mate, anyone who is 40+ on here will know what it was like growing up when they were winning everything, the street parties etc, everyone was a kopite, the teachers in school ridiculed us, older kids, grown men and women, mates parents, they all had massive big gobs that would just attack us on sight, I had my EFC top ripped off my back by a gang of men comin out of a pub when I was 9yrs old, even dinner ladies would be like "Eeee, you a smelly Evertonian" it was never banter, never ever banter, we were terrorised by the lot of them, then when we dared to be great in the late 80s and win things and we got to big for our boots, we had a voice, we fought back, we became 'bitter' we didn't know our place anymore, on a personal level it was great going from boy to man with a long memory and knockin the stuffing out the bullying reds, young Blues probably haven't experienced our torturous upbringing at the hands of our 'red neighbours' as there pretty crap and very quiet at the moment, be aware they haven't changed, if this makes me bitter then so be it, but at least am not a 'Hater' which is what we should nickname them as they respect no one who wins the title, they just Hate, Hate Hate. not all I know, some are sound, but my god the Haters among them far outweigh the gooduns. EFC Your In My Heart Your In My Soul. Rather be bitter than a jealous Hater.
