I may get hate for this but I think Charlie Adam would be a good signing for us, would be a good partnership with Gibson in midfield.

ToffeeMike {Ed025's Note - not for me mike..

Believable6 Unbelievable10

Your right...you will get hate for this

PTF

Agree0 Disagree0

With David Moyes in charge, he has taught me to back every signing he makes (although the price would need to be considered anything under 4mil I could handle), it may be pushing that barrier with Charlie Adam, but if Moyes thinks he can do the job for us, then I will back him.

On paper, he is what we are looking for, another deep lying midfielder like Darron Gibson who provides that barrier in front of the defence and also has a decent passing range. But on the other hand, it is Charlie Adam FFS!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only thing signing charlie Adam would do would be to give the RS money which as you can see, they need, The board there arn't willing to splash like they have in the past. Brenda's even come out and said he needs to sell to buy.

Godss Doctor

Personally I think felli is a cdm/cm so drop him back and put Naismith/milleras in his place (though milleras is naturally a RW he could go cf if we needed and put Naismith RW)

For me a perfect end to an excellent transfer window would be Ince or Philips, the young Greek lad katidis? And would love to see nzonzi season loan view to a permanent deal. How awesome would we look Gibson behind fella and nzonzi, peanuts left of jela and mirallas on right? The future is Moyes boys.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I personally think we need someone to play in centre midfield, someone like Fernandes or Defour. Then close the cheque book.

Why is everyone saying we would't be able to afford Yann M'Vila?

We got £12 million from the sale of Jack Rodwell and Kevin Mirallas cost roughly £6 million. So thats £6 million we have left from his sale, plus we also have £2 million from Yobo and we are willing to spend £3 million on M'Baye Niang, so should that not work out we have £11 million right there.

Yann M'Vila is valued at £15 million so we would only need £4 million, and remember, we bought Maroune Fellaini for £15 million in 2008 (beating off interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Aston Villa) so there is a possibility that we can pull this off.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

What? Why do you add the 3M for niang?

Agree0 Disagree0

Take it maths isnt your strong point

Agree0 Disagree0

No, I'm saying the £3 million is there if it isn't spent on Niang. We were supposedly looking at Niang before Rodwell was sold, so the money was already there, so if that deal doesn't go through, we have £3 million on top of £6 million from the Rodwell deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also keep in mind that we had to sell Yobo and Cahill before we brought in Peanuts. And he cost £4.5m. And then the costs for signing on fees and wages come in to it, etc.

Simple summary:
Sold: Yobo (£2m) and Cahill (£1m) plus Wallace and Forshaw (both undisclosed) - those sales funded the purchase of Peanuts

Then, about a month or so later, after nothing else happened in the window (apart from the free agent signing of Naismith), we sold Rodwell to City for £12m (possibly rising to £15m). £12m then went down to £6m or £7m after the purchase of Mirallas (rumoured as £5.3m but people say £6m) - that leaves, let's say, £6m left. So unless players are sold then we are around about £8-10m short of the £15m needed for M'Villa - and that isn't including signing on fees, agent fess, etc.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2012 16:15:15
I may be living in hope, but there are only a few people who know how much Moyes has to spend on transfers so whos to say we haven't got the money to make a big transfer. Kenwright has always said we need to live within our means so who's to say we aren't. As I can remember, this a the first summer where there hasn't Bernard statement saying "we have no money" but as Evertonians we can be forgiven for thinking there isn't any. When Moyes says things to the press he very rarely disappoints. In Moyes I Trust and I trust in that Moyes will bring in some new faces before Saturday. And I believe that this is all down to the players we bought on January and the board knows tht in order for Moyes to sign a new contract he's gonna need assurances.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2012 15:57:10
I think big Vic will be staying with us. Unless someone offers a bid of 5 mil plus, then we don't need to sell him as we're alredy in profit from sales/buys. We need to keep squad players because we have a small team so selling Vic would actually be detrimental. Also he counts as 1 of our required home-grown players.

I can see us bringing in 2 more, probably loans. Moyes did say he's not finished in the market. I wouldnt be surprised t see yet another raid on Man Utd. We have a very strong trend from taking underrated players from them. I think there is the possibility of maybe Carrick or Macheda.

The next question is whether Moyes has the balls to go for a star player on deadline day when prices are pretty good. Hes hinted at it before by going for Drenthe from Madrid (unfortunately didnt work out) and Mirallas. Has he changed his transfer strategy to bigger signings than weve gone for in the past?

I don't know why people think as soon as we get some cash from player sales that the bank is waiting on the steps of goodison park to take it of us. Like any loan be it business or personal the terms of repayment are agreed and this remains in place until said loan is payed of or refinanced. Just because we get a load of cash in doesn't mean the bank demands we have to pay it to them. If the club decides to pay off some of their debts with any spare cash then that's up to them and different story all together.

I wish fans would realise that it is not just a simple we paid 5.3 mill for Mirallas and 4.5 million for Pienaar so we should have 2.2 million left from 12 million sale of Rodwell. You have to consider players signing on fees and their agents fees, so in Pienaar's case the total would be nearer 6/7 million and Marallas 8 million.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

We've gt rid of rodwells Cahills yobos wages plus a lot last year shud have spaces 4 a couple of players

Agree0 Disagree0

Pienaar was paid with Cahill and yobo and transfer budget money the rodwell money is still there there's roughly around 6 million left with some in addition I recon 2 million more sitting in the original transfer budget without player sales

Agree0 Disagree0

No, that's not how it works. The signing on fees and agent fees are already included in the final total.

I know we have bought well in the transfer window and we now have a very strong team, but is there any players you think we need to or should buy?
I personally think we should buy a new goalkeeper because firstly, I don't think Mucha is much good (that said I've rarely seen him play) and secondly, he is roughly the same age as Howard, so in the long run, he won't be a replacement for him. I think we should try and buy Jack Butland from Birmingham because he is a great young keeper at 19 years old and he'll only improve.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Don,t rate him! rather have ruddy back!

By the end of the transfer window:
Ins; Ince + Phillips-10million
Niang:£2million
=£12million
Outs;Anichebe-£3million
Barkley-Loan
=£3million
Your most probably thinking how can we afford this, but we got £12million for rodwell, £2million for Yobo and £1million for Cahill
=£15million + £3million for Anichebe = £18million
and we have already bought Mirallas for £5.3million,+ the £12million=£17million, so we can afford this + would have £1million left over!

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Sounds good but ur not taking into account signing on fees and bank money

I think we are really weak in the center of midfield and i know this one is slightly far fetched but if Moyes stretched his mussels and told the board he wants the money to get Dembele in from Fulham and then 1/2 squad players then I believe we would be genuine contenders for that top 3/4 place and CL. Dembele and Gibson in the middle with Mirallas and peinaar on the wings and the two big men up from... what a team!

What are the chances though of this happening?!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

There is no chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Moyes stretches his mussels will Bill squash his prawns?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking that too dembele is like fellaini but faster and a better dribbler with then two and Gibson in the midfield we would tear it up I mean I think we need a playmaker as well but with dembele we would need a player maher because they are all capable if making play halen and are all strong and suit our style of play and pus pienaar is our playmaker ATM any way out on the wing

Am I the only one who thinks all this positivity in the transfer market is because Moyse has put off signing a new contract? I know we haven't spent much but don't think we've finished yet either. If Moyse was tied down to a long term deal I just wonder how much of the Rodwell money he'd have seen. Hopefully the board realise if they don't back him now after the start we've had he'll be off. Here's hoping he signs shortly after the window closes!

French paper L'equipe reporting that we're interested in Yann M'Vila.
http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Everton-et-newcastle-sur-m-vila/308809

This is a real surprise to me and for me means one of 3 things (in order of likelihood)
1. It is complete rubbish, we may have enquired or have sent people to watch him over the years but there's no real interest.
2. We are looking at him either anticipation or preparing a bid coming in for one of our players (Fellaini perhaps).
3. Kenwright has somehow found us some cash and we're genuinely looking to bring him in if we can to strengthen our midfield.

I can't see this happening at all without us selling, in which case that would really upset me as I'd take Fellaini over him any day. Ed/others what are your thought or has anyone heard anything?

AussieBlue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would certainly send a clear signal to the league that we mean business if we signed this lad. And he would be perfect for our side, would slot in nicely beside Gibson, and M'Vila and Fellaini would cause hysteria amongst the other teams.

But sadly, cant see it happening either, Rennes want 15mil upfront, and that rules us out. {Ed025's Note - it looks like he is spurs bound..22m is being reported..

Anyone else noticed that Tim Howard never commands his box, hardly comes for crosses and stays rooted to his goal line. Good keepers help out the back four by coming for crosses taking pressure off them. Add in the monthly mistake maybe DM should be looking for a keeper with more presence and command.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Dont be so stupid,Tim Howard is one of the best keepers in the league and one of the reasons we are were we are today.Rob Walker

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you actually go to the game or just watch it on tv? Tim spends a lot of his warm up with Chris Woods practicing dealing with crosses. Admittedly he tends to punch rather than catch the ball but to say this is his weak area is ludicrous.
Moody Blue

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with OP Howard is a decent keeper but Im not entirely convinced by him...good shot stopper but thats about it.

3rd best defence last year. Not every keeper needs to race out. That is what we pay defenders for to head away.

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't say tim Howard was a weakness, just a observation from both the park end and t.v...( My job stops me going the match week in week out... ) against villa he should of done better for there goal and yes it did swerve but in order to put our beloved blues back were we belong.., as champions we should always look to improve...

Read on a couple of sites today that Heitinga wants a move despite saying he wants to fight for his place!
Hope not, he is great cover for Jags and Distin and he will get back in the team eventually.
If this is true, doesn't surprise me, he comes across as a player who loves the attention when he is playing but when he is not playing has the wrong attitiude and sounds out moves. Remember a couple of seasons ago when he weren't getting a game!? Practically told anyone who listened he wanted to go to city! haha
I'd rather these were rumours and not true, but if they are true, just get him out and get a few players in because we have a small squad as it is!

His contract runs out at the end of the season and there has been no talk what so ever about a new one!! and when he is asked in interviews he says "that's not important" (avoiding the question)

For Wednesdays game against Leyton Orient I would play all the fringe players.

GK J.Mucha
RB S.Coleman
LB L.Baines
CB S.Duffy
CB J.Heitinga (Capt)
CM F.Junior
CM R.Barkley
RW K.Marallis
LW M.Gueye
AM S.Naismith
CF V.Anichebi

Subs
T.Howard
P.Neville
L.Garbutt
D.Gibson
J.Lundstram
H.Hope
A.Vellios

Naismith and Marallis need games. Plus if we were to get a couple up I would to bring on Garbutt for Baines
Lundstram or Hope for Naismith and Vellios for Marallis.
Think there should be plenty in this team to be victorious against L.Orient

Dont like Mucha we need another goalkeeper

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree that Mirallas and Naismith should start, they need games to get sharp, also would love to see Barkley and Duffy start I think these two lads are the future of our club

Agree0 Disagree0

Howard in goal please, remember the 2 clangers by mucha against chelsea last season which knocked us out of the cup

i think we should get at least 2 or 3 back-up players in that are good enough because if, god forbid, we get some injuries or suspensions, we begin to look a bit light, so a few quality back-ups would be welcomed

I'm seriously worried about Moyes' new contract. Surely a decision ought to have been made by now as to whether he will sign a new contract or not. I think we are looking good right now but the longer this drags on the the more adverse the effect might be on the team. I think a few players are loyal to the manager too so lets hope its signed soon.

I reckon Moyes new contract will be icing on the cake after transfer window. He wants to concentrate on building the squad, then he will start negotiating a new deal. Hopefully anyway!

Agree0 Disagree0

I have said this before, but im sure moyes did this on his last contract waited ill less than 12 months on it, got transfeer buisness done, then signed his new current contract. i have a feeling the same will happen again!

Last time moyes was seeking promises that he could do deals in the next transfer window to improve our squad, now this squad is probably the best he has ever had so im sure if we qualify for Europe or even have a great cup run, he knows that this squad will go places, he will sign a deal

i really hope were not after charlie adam, after watching our 1st 2 games this team works incredibly hard, i just dont think he can do that, id rather we went for n'zonzi than him, and he'd be cheaper.

This seems to be the Everton-Man City relationship page. Get a room. Oh and Manchester city, we absolutely smashed you today and you was quivering in your boots at our Raheem Sterling. Money can't buy you class but it can buy you average players like JACK RODWELL.
