Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Hi ed carn, t help feeling that our club are not ambitious enough. We moan about will we have enough money to buy lukaku. I think we should not only buy him, but buy bony as we'll and send a statement out to the top teams. Other clubs seem to find money from somewhere, but we stand still.we must have more than 20mill to spend after all the transfers and tv money from last year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Do you want us to do a Leeds/Portsmouth/Rangers? And even if we could afford the 40-50m we'd have one of the clubs record signings sitting on the bench getting cheesed off, collecting a massive wage.

Agree0 Disagree0

As much as I'd love to agree with you mate and I feel strongly that we should push the boat out and get Lukaku whatever it costs. To do what you suggest is suicide. Wages alone would cripple us, debts increased for borrowing money to buy them and we're running at a loss as it is. Doing what you suggest is the fastest way to become a Leeds/Pompey etc. we can (hopefully) push the boat out for Lukaku and spend a few extra quid that we should perhaps shouldn't but to hock the family silver would be a slippery slope to oblivion.

Don't believe the hype
Everton are no where near as skint as the board would like you to believe. Our debt is one of the lowest in the league yet we not only allow but encourage the press to constantly talk about us as hobo's. We don't often lose money on transfers look at the profets we have made on players in the last 5 years. We have one of the lowest wage bills in the prem. now I don't want us to throw daft money at average players but sometimes to move forward you need to spend something. If we don't spend £40 million this summer we will go backwards because everyone else will.
And we happen to have a manager who with the right backing might creat something special

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2014 01:42:32
We can't afford one of them never mind two, chairman is too tight, you could send him into poundland with a tenner and he would still come out with nine things

Agree0 Disagree0

We have the 7th highest wage bill in the premier league not one of the lowest. Sad as it may seem the wage bill league almost always fits the actual league positions at the end of a season

With the Remy failure, will the RS turn to Lukaku again?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2014 21:36:22
Good evening lads, anybody got any news on Wilfred Bony's situation? Not heard much about him in the papers or on the net? Bony and Rom leading the line next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's staying at Swansea by all accounts Mick. A RS friend of mine who is quite well connected says Liverpool we're very interested in him and were given permission. They spoke to the player and after Ayres picked himself up off the floor after hearing his wage demands he was politely told thanks but no thanks.

Remy deal has collapsed because Borini refuses to sign for black cats. We should step in £8.5 mill?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2014 22:43:24
He would cost a lot more than 8.5m, they could ask for 20 if they wanted, we are not in the champions league

Unlikely anyone outside the CL positions can afford £20m!

So hope we get Lukaku, however my worry is even if we do its not enough as regards to Strikers. The alternatives do not fill one with confidence. Kone(totally a worry, a long term injury, and he was poor when he played), Naismith( had a great second half of the season playing in his prefered role, but doesn't strike fear into any defence), McAleny(another long term injury and untried), Hope(nowhere near the first team). We need another Striker with a presence or an eye for goal aswell as Lukaku. i'm not a massive fan of Henandez but he has a presence and an eye for goal when he's on the pitch. i'm hoping that Roberto see's this frailty with our current strikeforce, and is not just hoping that they all come good.
He's being a bit too loyal too, with Robles, a poor No2 for Howard.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree Howie. Was thinking about the loyalty factor too. If it's for the good of the team a ruthless streak often needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I get what you're saying but there are a few things I disagree with. Firstly defenders will be worried about naismith. He finds pockets of space and has the sharpness to exploit them. He doesn't get the credit he actually deserves. Secondly and controversially, I think kone will play a big part this season along with mcaleny. But I agree that even with luk, we need a senior striker to join. Preferably someone that can pay the wings as I think we are short there more than anywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you take remy, I know liverpool said he failed his medical, but remys people have said its because borini won't move to sunderland?

Agree0 Disagree0

It 'll be Traore on loan I think

There are a couple of posts below discussing the value of Lukaku. Some saying he is not worth 20 million and others saying the opposite. Various values are discussed. In my opinion, he is a necessity for us and if we blow all our remaining money on him, it will be well spent. My reasons are: He has scored 15 plus goals in the last 2 seasons. He is only 21 years old and improving. He is a strapping lad who will take knocks better than a smaller player. We desperately need a 15 to 25 goals a season center forward. Where else are we to find such a player willing to come to us other than Bony?
Remember last season where he changed games and got us points that were looking out of our reach.
That is why I say we need to spend what we have on him if necessary. Money in the bank is no substitute for points.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldnt agree more degs.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cuddent agree more anyone thinking he ain't worth that especially going by the sales this season needs a reality cheek, add to that we are desperate 4 a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

And I'll repeat myself for the billionth time. Just as important as sll those factors, He'll have a massive sell on value if he is a hit. VERY important to s club like ours.

Just reading on the tv that Remy's move to the RS has collapsed! Bobby, get in there!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think Remy would cost us a lot more because we're not in champs league. I've heard different reasons why the deal fell through, one is his fitness was questionable and he failed his medical and the other is his wage demands were ludicrous. I don't think he's as good as other, cheaper options out there. Plus he's got a bit of an attitude problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

He failed a medical, why would we want him?

Agree0 Disagree0

If his wage was reasonable, less wage but bonus incentives, and his fitness wasnt as bad as it seems, then i'd like him at Everton, as well as Lukaku. Having 2 quality strikers is better than 1. At least you know both can score goals in the premier.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand he's got an attitude issue and if the wages are a stumbling block, notwithstanding the fact he's a failed a medical, he really needs to have a word with himself. Before he knows it, he'll priced himself out of a move and stuck in another relegation battle with the R's. If we can afford him, I think he'd be worth a punt. Remember Demba Ba has apparently got dodgy knees. That doesn't seem to have been a problem with his last few transfers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know we're the attitude thing has come from but he failed a medical so why bother, if you think they wernt aware about his wage demands then that's just daft

I've watched both first-team pre-season friendlies (admittedly not live, but on EvertonTV - despite the connectivity problems) and have the following observations.
Pienaar has looked busy as has Osman. Both certainly have roles in the squad this coming season. Likewise Naismith.
We need a cutting edge at centre-forward - I wonder who that'll be? ;-)
Garbutt has done very well. Hibbert has been tried at left back, but I don't think it suits him.
McAleny - and to a lesser degree Long - have shown good touches and good attitude.
Hope works hard, but I'm not sure about his finishing.
Browning shows promise, but clearly lacks the defensive nous and experience to be a regular at the moment.
Robles doesn't look up to being Howard's deputy.
Lundstram and Kennedy don't look ready yet.
Our centre-backs don't look solid when playing as a back three - we still look more comfortable with a traditional back four.
The rest of the first-team squad looked like they're just where they actually are - a couple of weeks into pre-season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2014 15:34:13
Based on that? i'd say lundstram will have to go, if he's not ready now he never will be, browning is the best defender at the club according to martinez and stubbs, and, according to martinez, he was ready for the first team last season, he needs to be used at centre half and not right back, we should never use a back 3, whenever we have used it we have failed immensly

Agree0 Disagree0

Good observation Cowpat. Would agree with that. Every time we've played with 3 at the back we've looked vulnerable and Robles, well what can you say. Mare is an insult to Mares. McAleny and Garbutt yes, rest not yet.

So 2 good forwards, another 2 fast wingers and a better RB option to cover for Coleman needed asap. Would that be reasonable?

Agree0 Disagree0

I've just got home from the match and although its difficult to read too much into a friendly game we were bloody awful tonight. Robles is a dreadful goalkeeper and the defenders in front of him tonight - all of them - looked to have no confidence in him. They were trying to intercept balls that should be the keepers all day long. Garbutt has a lot of potential and looks like he could make the grade if given a chance. McAleny won't make it. Too old now and he's way off the level he needs to be at at this stage of his development. Pienaar is finished. He spent his entire half looking busy but losing the ball and complaining.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really hope after this now massively long 'will he?/won't he? Transfer fandango that we do get Lukaku (do you think 'the cack' will catch on as a nickname? Probably not - we'll have to wait and see), but I think we need someone else as well who is close to his ability. The cack (catching on yet? No? Why not?) looked very tired towards the latter half of the season, after a bit too much dependence on him, so another, preferably permanent striker would be ideal, especially with all the extra games. I rate Naisy, but I don't have much faith in Kone as the next choice. Maybe McAleny is ready to step up, but I doubt it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was in stadium Sid. Our boys all was no good. Particularly Joel is not good for No.2 Gk. Hibbo is rewarded new contract for his long time loyalty only. Duffy his day not reached yet.

I fear that our RS neighbours may hijack this long winded saga now that Remy has fallen through. In all honesty I'm not sure how upset I'd actually be.

27 Jul 2014 14:22:21
Joel has to go. Has absolutely no redeeming features. One of the worst keepers I've ever seen.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree AB. He let us down in that Cup Quarter Final against Arsenal last season with a shocking performance. When he could have caught the ball, he chose to punch every time and with disastrous consequences; putting the back four under needless pressure. Unless there is one of the youngsters who is ready to step up this season as understudy to Howard, we should be looking to offload and replace.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking about our goalkeeping situation the other day.I am concerned bobby hasn't tried to bring in another quality keeper as competition for Howard. Joel looks like he might play more games for us probably in the europa league i'm guessing. Its said keepers get better with age but this Joel doesn't instil me with much confidence that he will turn out to be a good keeper at all judging by what I seen of him last season example being the Arsenal game in the fa cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

He certainly doesn't give me confidence and I just hope that our U-21 and U-18 goalkeepers can progress quickly and be ready soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2014 16:27:00
He caught a ball tonight. I jumped up and celebrated but the mainly Thai crowd didn't appreciate the irony. Then he gave away the goal shorty afterwards. I'd rather put a mannequin in net.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't forget the moment in the cup game where after Joel's umpteenth punch away, when he could have more easily caught it and the entire team turned to him and had a word. I've not seen that before in a game and hope to never see it again. To be fair though, when Joel was signed, Howard did respond well to the competition, but I don't think Joel is the answer. Pantilimon would have been a good signing on a free, but he'd want to start every game and I still rate Howard as better than most. Who would be a worthy successor if not Joel? Personally, I rate Begovic as a good keeper, but again, would want to start.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he doesn't inspire us fans with any confidence, spare a thought for our back four. Bobby needs to buy a decent quality understudy. Robles isn't anywhere near good enough. Strange, as I thought he was reliable whenever he played at Wigan. Bobby obviously sees something in him nobody else does.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2014 17:05:18
Don't want him anywhere near Europa, we need full strenth for that one as winner qualifies fo CL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Decision seem everytime incorrect. Proven many time not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've said before and I'll say again. We should be looking to sign Alex McCarthy from Reading as Tim's back up. He's a good, relatively young keeper and with experience in the PL. Wouldn't cost the earth either.

To - Pb2.
Sorry if my post about the T shirt offended you or anyone else, let me apologise.
But this was a light hearted story about 2 old workmates & still good friends having a bit of fun,
(never meant to be in bad taste)
but please, did you really think I was going to ring him up? & ring Interpol?
Before I retired I worked in & out of Germany for
35 years, never had any problems with having a sense of hummer, in fact the post war generation don't mind to discuss the Wars.
One of the most popular films in Germany over the past years as been "Saving Private Ryan"
& I got the story of Germans stealing bicycles in Holland from a Dutchman.
I show NO disrespect for the dead & the fallen,
I did business with a company in Ypres & had lunch in a restaurant opp. the Menin Gate.
I visited the War Graves with my work colleague
every November.
One of my wives grandfathers was killed near Ypres 1916, & is buried at the Royal Canadian
Military Cemetery at Reningheslst Belgium.
We have a picture of his gravestone on our computer.
So please Pb2 don't turn into Basil Faulty.
"don't mention the war"
cheer's I Claudius.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I too have worked with Germans and shared jokes with them. A favourite was when they beat us at Euro '96 and they were bragging about beating England at our national sport yet again. I reminded them that we had also beaten Germany at their national pastime twice before - in 1918 and 1945 - and once at football in 1966! They took it in good humour and it didn't in anyway disrespect those who lost their lives or otherwise suffered in the war.

Right now let that be the end of it, either shut up or get a grip, lkaku's coming to us, I don't believe Martinez is that stupid to say 'of course we will' if he didn't mean it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too many players/staff have spoken about Rom by name for there not to be at least a very good chance he's coming back

Agree0 Disagree0

RM, Osman and Ian Atkins (Head of Recruitment) have all spoken quite openly about this, which is unusual as the club don't normally speak about other clubs' players that they're after - unless, like Barry, it's an out-of-contract player who's been on loan with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2014 08:29:08
I'm quite surprised at some of the negativity with regards to Lukaku possibly coming back. For me if we can get him it's a no brainer. I agree that £18 million is a lot of money for Everton to pay for a player who admittedly drifted in and out of form last season, but even with this he was still comfortably our top scorer with 16 goals in 33 apps. Let's not forget as well he's only 21 so barring any major injuries will only get better over the next few years and if he does improve year on year £18 million or even £25 million will seem extremely cheap in a few years time.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you could be right stu..

In today's market 18m is absolutely nothin for a player of his age and potential bargin

Agree0 Disagree0

We need goal-scoring centre-forwards in our squad and he surely fits the bill.

Ed: I have been thinking about this Lakaku deal. Do you think it's possible for Everton to sign him for between £18m - £20m with Chelsea insisting on either first option on Barkley or a future sell on fee on Lakaku?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they do want a piece of ross mike, i just hope we tell them where to go, £18m is a fair price for a player of his stature, but certainly not a bargain mate..

Come on ed if borini is worth 14 then lukaku must be worth at least 25

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no argument from me shakey..

26 Jul 2014 09:47:23
Can I ask you ed, what is your opinion of lukaku and do you think he will sign for us? I ask because all I am reading is posts of people getting excited about him signing, yet its not too long ago he started looking ineffective for us, and at 18m or more I think it is well over the odds. He has just been terrible in the world cup, the kid origi looked far sharper than him. I think we should target a more versatile striker, like potential rs signing loic Remy who I rate very much. All I am saying is that I think rom for that kind of money is bad business. Thanks ed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes a very good player OAB, and if we get him for £18m i think that would be a fair price, myself i would have gone for bony, but bobby knows best mate..

Are you mad lukaku will hit 20+ this season IMO 18m is nothing Sunderland wanna pay 14 for borini 11m for McCormack need I say more

Old tactic for negotiations. tell the buyer that there was a little old lady from Pasadena who was in the showroom yesterday looking at this very car.

I'm certain there will be rumors of Lukaku signing with Coach Thor and team Asgard next. And that we are selling McCarthy and Barkley to to them as well.

We will know soon enough.
