Am I the only one who is not bothered about signing Dempsey?
Yes he's a very good player but he'll cost £10 million plus! I honestly believe we'd be better off buying Donovan who would also cost about the same!
Yes it made is big difference buying players in January but we also had momentum from winning games and Donovan was a massive part of that, the guy is class and loves Everton, I'd rather we bring him back!
What do you reckon Ed?
I don't know how much money is going to be available to be spent but for me Donovan and Peinaar are musts and anyone else is a bonus!
I'd like:
Donovan £6-10 Mil,
Peinaar £4-6 Mil,
Holtby £4-6 Mil,
Pranjic Free,
And Rodeallge Free,
For me that would give us a really strong complete squad.
What do you all think?
Mickey Blue Eyes

Believable4 Unbelievable1

We're never going to get that much money, Moyes is never going to buy Donovan with his age and Schalke are never going to be stupid enough to part with one of the hottest young prospects in German football for under £15m

Agree0 Disagree0

Dempsey is available for around 4 million. Something to do with a clause is his contract, when he gets to final 12 months of his contract he is available for 4 million.
That is why there are lots of rumours about his future at the minute.
Agree would take Donovan over Dempsey but IF Dempsey is available for 4 million then it's a brilliant deal

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think we need dempsey or donavan pienar is a must he makes the front tick. donavan was good and im a big fan of his but i think we could find a younger replcement ie barkley

Agree0 Disagree0

Dempsey and Holtby are both entering the final years of their contracts next season, so both will be available for around the 5-6mil mark.

Both would be absolute bargains and ideal additions to the squad, if I had to choose one, I would probably lean towards Holtby, nothing against Dempsey, I really like the lad, think he is a top player, but Holtby is like 9yrs younger and I think this lad could be a very very good player, and of course, he is a known Evertonian which helps.

One thing I know for sure is that we need new faces, if that means we only see a Pienaar deal permanently that is good enough, of course, another one or two on frees wouldn't be bad

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't get just Pienaar and Donovan and Dempsey are a country mile better than Barkley, so don't say that a young player who isn't very good is a better replacement than 2 top class players. {Ed025's Note - barkley will come good...but its too much pressure to just throw him in..

Agree0 Disagree0

Holtby will sign a new contract though...

hopefully dempsey seen us as his next club after today's performance. get him and pienaar signed up please then a free. we can dream can't we andy {Ed025's Note - your right andy..

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Never mind dempsey pienaar is all we need with the jellyman in this form

barkley didn't impress me today too many mistakes i think he needs longer.

toffee haz {Ed025's Note - {Ed025's Note -you may be right haz..

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Lets be patient with barkley, we all know he will become a top class player

Bez the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

It was his first hit out in the senior team for months, and was put into the game when it was pretty much a training game for both clubs.

Bit harsh to judge him on the few mins he had.

Bez is right, patience is key, although, he showed decent strength when on the ball, which as a youngster is impressive to see. Really think next season, should he get more game time, could start to emerge

28 Apr 2012 20:14:52
Anyone else notice when pienaar went off, we lacked creativity and made less chances?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Not fussed, the game clearly died out when Pienaar and Fellaini went off, to be fair, the whole 2nd half was merely a training run for the lads.

8 goals in 2 games! Shows what can happen when you spend a few quid to build the team each season. Not asking for £50m pot just £5-£10m a season would be enough to keep team fresh! COYB!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

12 goals in the last 3 league games, playing outstanding football, amazing what 5.5mil has done for our club. Give us another 5-10mil and I think Europe is more than a chance {Ed025's Note - your right..

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree mate. Adding a little to the squad every transfer window will 'top up' the squad if you like and breathe new life into it. But it is 12 goals in our last 3 league games, something that cant be mocked by anyone!! COYB!!

Everton Al. {Ed025's Note - it is vital to add to the squad in summer, even if its only a loan..

Dont no why everyone is saying sell jags him and johnny looks like its working out at the back. With pranjac (sorry if missplelled) and Baines I think would be a great back four.
With the addition of an attacking midfielder to help pienaar out and a good start of the new season we could be a top 4 side.

Great win today that's 13 goals in 4 games. It sure beats pulling my hair out like I was in the first half of the season

Believable2 Unbelievable0

For me, Heitinga and Distin is the best duo, and from a financial stand point, it doesn't make sense to keep a 30yr old on the bench, when he is one of our valuable assets. Nothing against Jags, but football is a business now, and it makes sense from a business sense to sell him. {Ed025's Note - he should stay imo...if we get an injury, he is ideal backup....its a squad game these days..

Agree0 Disagree0

Pranjic is left footed not right

My team for next season (if we get funds)

Howard
Hibbert Heitinga Jagielka Baines
Osman Gibson Rodwell Pienaar
Fellaini
Jelavic

Substitutes:
Butland
Neville
Coleman
Cahil
Distin
Rodallega
(Adam) Johnson

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like the team wouldnt waste money on adam johnson tho hes over priced and theres better in europe for cheaper

Agree0 Disagree0

Would love to see Adam Johnson at Everton, think he is class, but would cot around 10mil and don't see it happening.

The way we are playing currently, if we sign Pienaar permanently, and perhaps 1 or 2 freebies, then I am confident of breaking that top 6.

The trio of Fellaini, pienaar and Jelavic has been amazing for us, the way they pass the ball between each other and just starve the opposition of possession has been Barca like.

All should have a look at this video before making any final decisions on Royston Drenthe (press CC on the bottom bar)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOpp5ALyX0Y

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Hes not worth the hassle

Agree0 Disagree0

Its sad to see Drenthe go, but he needs to control himself first, no one is bigger than Everton, and sadly you must follow the rules, he broke them and understandably got the boot.

Sad, but that is what is needed now.

Another brilliant result, we look unstoppable now. Jelavic again scored two good goals, what a buy he has been and again Fellani looked amazing playing behind him. Also nice to see Cahill smash the corner flags and to top it all off Barkley looked quite good for the 15 minutes he came on. Hopefully the rs lose now and we go five points clear.

I really hope we can clinch 7th and start next season in the same goalscoring form as i feel we could really go places next season. Its hard to believe that we were struggling for goals in the first half of the season.

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - lets hope so mate..

Believable3 Unbelievable1

28 Apr 2012 16:21:14
Ed, and everyone else, do you think this would be possible?

Clint Dempsey - £4 million
Steven Pienaar - £3 million
James McCarthy - £5 million (if they go down)
Nathan Redmond - £5 million + Victor Anichebe (if they aren’t promoted)
Mohamed Diame – Free
Jack Butland - £3 million (loan him back/out for more playing time/experience)

If we could do this business during the summer, we would be sorted for next season and probably get a top 6 finish. For this to happen we’d be spending £20 million though, so we might have to sell a few players. {Ed025's Note - we wont do that much business mate...expect pienaar, and a free or two...

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I reckon we will do two money buys (pienaar and maybe Butland) then two freebies (Diame and moses)
Blue kaz {Ed025's Note - im not ruling that out kaz..

Agree0 Disagree0

Moses still has one year left on his contract, so we wont be getting him for free

Pranjic?

Is it coinsedence that we score 4 in last 3 all baines never played

Ant wharton {Ed025's Note - yes it is..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Lol I rate baines but I do think sometimes he takes on the left role to much and it stops us playin more centrally {Ed025's Note - thats like saying drop jellyfish....because hes scoring too much!..

Agree0 Disagree0

No, we would have scored 6 in each game if he had played {Ed025's Note - i think your right mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I love Baines, he has to be the best crosser of the ball we've had since Trevor Steven, albeit on the opposite flank. However I was starting to feel that we were getting too predictable on the left and relying to much on the service Baines provides. I hope he's back soon but I also feel that through being forced to explore other options since he got injured we've added another dimension to our game and are less predictable now.

Behind Blue Eyes

Agree0 Disagree0

Its not bainsey's fault, moyes pushes us to play to the left more when baines is playing and quite understandably, I think funny enough Tony hibbert has made up for baines not playing some of his crossing has been brilliant

So far Dempsey is bein made to look poor were outstanding

Ant Wharton

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Dempsey has got 16 goals in all competitions this season and i would love to sign him, we are playing well, jelavic is unstoppable

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - if dempsey needed a nudge bez...he must know now the team to join!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Dempsey has 21 goals in all competitions not 16

Agree0 Disagree0

I actually thought Dempsey was the best out of a bad bunch, made two decent chances for himself, including one where Howard made a terrific save.

Hard for a striker/attacking player to assert himself in the match, when his team was getting absolutely dominated.

Lets hope that the performance by Everton really did make his head turn and make him want to join us.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Apr 2012 14:16:47
I wonder if Moyes will take the time to meet up with Dempsey before or after the match to talk to him about joining?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Isn't that tapping up a player? You can't talk to a player without the clubs permission

3 points today will put us 5 clear of Liverpool and the other teams below us.
Big game this Fulham are in great form like ourselves so will be close, i'm going for a close game but a 2-1 to Everton.
Play the same team as Man United, maybe even give Mcfadden a start instead of Osman?? Maybe.
COYB {Ed024's Note - We have a great record against fulham

Everton apparently in for crewe's nick powell for 1.5 million, thing is though arsenal, man city and Chelsea are all in for him! all depends if he want's money, or a better chance of first team football in the near future I guess... {Ed024's Note - Youngsters often opt for everton as the finch farm facilities are top notch and potential first team opportunities

28 Apr 2012 09:43:59

I'm actually right up for the fulham game. I really want 7th. For the record and for the extra million we get as much as for finishing above the RS. This would put it on a plate for the last few games for us and I want us to keep this ridiculous run of form we're on against Flam going. Could be a bumming for Fulham. 3-0, Jelavic, Osman and Cahill to slot.
