Well Ed, 2 posts not shown. Why is this?

{Ed007's Note - I can see one that was posted today and your last post before that was 4 days ago, I'm not going looking for that one. Why haven't you went and looked for yourself?}

Ed. Look? Searched I did. Every page amongst the weeping souls. Perhaps it got washed away with the angst.

I thought we could have stepped up a gear last night just when we needed Ross he was off the pitch for what seemed like ten minutes, I don't really think we looked like a team that would die for the cause, and so fed up with the unlucky tag which seems to persist not just over the last few weeks but last few decades .
We need some real strength in players ala Riedy to hold it all together and a manager who doesn't suffer fools in the mould of Hughes, who has had his moments too but always holds his head up and drives his teams on .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2016 17:16:29
Not Ross's fault he nose was streaming and he changed his shirt 4 times. He's not even allowed to be on the pitch if you have a shirt full of blood.

For me he was our best player and you could see he was desperate for us to win.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 22:15:06
Sick of people having a go at Lukaku. He's been a class act all season and we'd be bottom without him. Understand unrest with Martinez, Howard and Stones but to criticise Rom is a joke.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2016 08:13:45
agreed he has been our only striker all season, surely RM can see he needs help, we as supporters want to see him with competition for his starting place or preferably a playing partner, Kone is not the answer!

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 17:13:56
I agree to a certain degree but he still goes missing and usually needs something to kick him into gear. I'm not as peeved with him as earlier on in the season but his last three games have been stinkers.

There was a point against City that made me laugh when the ball flew off his leg with that suspect first touch he has and he turned round and blamed Ged who was nowhere near him.

He has got better though and if he keeps working hard during games he will get what he wants, a move away from Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 23:05:50
Any one reckon Eddie howe worth thinking about about being our manager? Doing miracles at Bournemouth; plays good football; and is an everton fan. Thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

29 Jan 2016 02:39:27
He could't settle in the north a few years back so not sure it would be any different now. Think we need someone with a lot more experience, with the group of players we have we could do with a manager who can get the best out of them. Someone cutting their managerial teeth is not what we need just now.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 21:51:01
Now the dust has settled on our cup exit, I'm still just as gutted and still want Roberto gone!
I think he is lucky we play Carlisle on Sunday as surely even he can pull off a win.
Just a thought on replacing him as manager:
Mark Hughes or AVB or I'd even take Moyse back.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

28 Jan 2016 22:55:40
Wouldn't take any of them.

If Bill has really said thanks and goodbye to Staff at Everton, who is running the Club at the moment? I cannot believe that anyone with the Clubs best interests at heart have not even discussed Martinez and his performance.

Lol soldier blue. I just pi---d myself!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 06:36:50
Zackiii the clue is in the name soldier blue! And if you don't know what that means! ask soldier blue. See Roberto is demanding a meeting with referees chief, yet another attempt at deflection from his incompetence. Read an excellent article yesterday that put into words what some have been suspicious of. That article said that an ambitious Club would have got rid of Martinez long before now, the fact that our board are content to sit in indolence is an indication that they are happy for us to remain a middle of the table Club picking up the TV money.

28 Jan 2016 21:10:18

Just trying to cheer the place up Daz. But you know what, he might have had a point the way we are going.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2016 11:52:30
This I don't want this manager because he said we're a small club? Well you can only be measured on were you are and what you are achieving and ATM we are not classed as a big club as we aren't successful fact. We haven't won a trophy in 21 years and in that time have only reached 1 final. Is that the measure of a big club that will attract star names? We need a reality check and realise we are not as big as were 30 years ago and actually accept that maybe Hughes and Benitez were right but are 2 managers who could and would move us forward or we can call ourselves a big club as we stagnate under a clueless manager and a clueless board until we do a Leeds and consider ourselves a big club in a lower league. I for one would rather it not be the latter.

28 Jan 2016 19:38:15
I have scrolled through and some interesting posts with all the same opinion that the manager is out of his depth. I said a few weeks back after the Stoke defeat that the players do not look like they are playing for the manager and he has lost the dressing room. Now some posters are saying Stones and Rom have had there heads turned and are playing like they don't want to be here, maybe they do but not for the clown. His ideas and methods are sub standard he has no tactical nous and is more one dimensional than sonic on the master system. His record is worse than Walter Smiths and he was sacked. I say get a new man in now have him stamp his authority in the dressing room and get these talented individuals playing as a team. Another thing I think maybe happening is Martinez never played at the top level in his career and is now trying to manage top flight players with egos. Why take advice from a man who hasn't earned his place at the top table with his career successes but fraudulantly got the job with false promises. Adios Fraud let's have a winner and leader in charge next please.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

28 Jan 2016 20:20:00
Don't agree it doesn't matter at what level you have played. If you are the manager then all the players have to respect that and if they can't then they need to go. Lukaku and stones both think that they are too big for us. They both need a smacked arse and told to grow up or fk off.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 21:57:30
I think the problem is he has lost the players with his suicidal football and tactics they no longer want to play his way and when questioned he just drops them, I'm certain that's why KM never got a sniff earlier in the season and is only playing him now as he is panicking. I watched his post match interview last night and he looked like a rabbit caught in headlights.

By the way the league is arsenals this year a think lad.

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Jan 2016 20:38:31
It's all good banter lads, we are the same on Gooners page, Ed025 will testament to that.

As you say, it shows how passionate you boys are.

One thing I have noticed, on Arsenal page we have a bit of a mix of "Wenger out" and "Wenger in" brigade.

On here it's pretty much "Martinez out", which is understandable.

I do always try to play Devils Advocate, and look at the positives versus the negatives, but as a neutral, I can't think of any positives in favour of Martinez.

Your attack is on point, especially when Rom is on form and Doofy is a superb player.

Defensively, you are lacking.
Think I read somewhere, you have conceded 3 goals in a game on 8 occasions this season, which is shocking.

Don't mean to offend you, but think Stones is vastly overrated, not his fault, just another victim of The British Press hyping up young talent and putting too much weight on young shoulders, Jack Wilshere, Jack Grealish, Andros Townsend and Fabian Delph will vouch for that.

He's good, very good, but needs to learn that kicking the ball into the stands sometimes is an art of defending in itself.

I have a lot of respect for Everton, proper good old fashioned club like my beloved Arsenal, but I think you need a big overhaul, starting with your manager and than a good solid Centre Half, like Gary Cahill.

Or, Mertesacker lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 21:36:17
Good question Paul,
Personally, I was delighted when we signed Arteta.
I thought he was terrific at Everton (with Cahill) and he absolutely ran the show at Goodison.

However, when he joined us, he was employed more as a DM (Once Alex Song left us to join Barca, if memory serves me right) .

I think we ruined his career as he is too 'silky' to be a DM, plus you can't expect a man with 'that hair' to put the boot in and make tackles.

Terrific player at Everton, good player at Arsenal, but through no fault of his own.

Unfortunately, very injury prone, hence lack of appearances, but always has a place in the hearts of all Arsenal supporters as he gave his all to the club.

Model professional who never complained, despite playing out of position for 4 years.

29 Jan 2016 00:07:08
ye right mate definitely not a defencive midfielder but he could leave his foot in now and again there was a little nasty streak in him reckon he could make a good coach to talented not to stay in the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2016 17:38:59
If a player or manager does something wrong in the heat of the moument, they are charged with bringing the game into disreopute, fined and banned, BUT if a match official makes a major error of judgment they simply pick up their match fee (which these days is around 60 grand) and move on to their next "little" earner. Sometimes of late, makes you wonder just how clean our game is!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2016 18:03:16
I have said for a while now mate players and managers are obliged to speak to the press because of contractual agreements why can't we put in the refs contracts that they are obliged to do the same after games make them face the cameras and answer for there mistakes I'm pretty sure it will make some difference another I believe in is starting a scheme were former players can become refs obviously they would have to take corses throughout there career then maybe more years training once retired something has to change though.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 19:08:24
Why haven't we made sure Atkinson never refs another Everton game again.

28 Jan 2016 17:00:34
I would like to see a new manager in now, sooner rather than later. It would allow a new manager to work with this squad and show exactly what they could achieve before some start to leave. Maybe then they may decide they want to stay at the club.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Jan 2016 21:11:38
The bloke is like Blair but with more teflon coating, he has to have, how the hell he can have a CV like his and still be worthy of Premiership is beyond me. Luckily at the moment there just might be 3 teams below us that will save our bacon this season, but it is just a matter of time if this bloke stays before we are fighting relegation, it is not even a matter of if but when if our board keep their heads in the sand. At last Talk Sport are now having a pop at him and about time to.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 16:22:44

To read a post on here from a so called fan saying he is glad we got beat last night because we are not good enough, and didn't want to face the Reds in the final. Also you know many more Evertonians that are glad we got beat aswell you are shocking mate really you call yourself an Evertonian well I know we all sometimes post in anger and frustration sometimes and might not mean what we said but that post shocked me I hope you read this mate cause that was shocking.

I don't think any true supporter would ever say they wanted their Club to lose Stef, perhaps emotion got the better of them. Read the NewsNow post from Russian Linesman, that puts into print exactly the ability (lack) of Mr Martinez and how his philosophy both at Wigan and now Everton brings Clubs he manages to their knees.

Where are these blues from whom a 100% of which want Liverpool to win the cup? EVERY single blue I know wants them to get beat. What good would that do us them winning another trophy? No true blue would want Liverpool to win any game.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 16:10:56
I Meant what I said about glad we got beat, and I've supported Everton for 49years so like the rest of you there hasn't been much in all those years to actually get excited about. Unless Martinez goes and money comes in we'll just be another Stoke City, although they are playing better than us. As for Mark Hughes as manager of the blues, that's another step backwards. We need a big name manager with some credential and buyers with lots of money otherwise it'll be same old same old for years to come.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jan 2016 16:25:21
25 yr season tkt holder 8/ 10 away games a season spend a fortune on my children at the club shop been to wembely 5 times abroad ever more I don't want man city to win the cup so I'm not a proper blue if you don't no anyone that wants city to lose you need to start going the game there was not one man woman or child on our coach last night that said any different so ollblue you need to get out abit more.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jan 2016 16:46:05
So 100% of Everton fans (that being EVERYONE) wants Liverpool to win a trophy. So 100% of people will be sat there watching the cup final singing you'll never walk alone whilst screaming "COME ON YOU RED MEN" all over the house. I won't be doing that, Ollie won't be doing that, that's already less than 100% doing it.

Will you lads be wearing a Liverpool shirt too? . My mate who travels every game home and away, when I quizzed him over this, said not one Evertonian he knows who went yesterday wants anything other than City to win it.

This doesn't explain why you want Liverpool to win the cup (I can only assume neither of you are from Liverpool, I couldn't cope and I know my mates couldn't cope with that lot winning something again) . Is it because you are closet reds? Possibly, is it because you are so bitter about yesterday you now hate City? Possible but less likely than the former.

Were you lads wearing the "2013-14 Premier League Champions" shirts 2 seasons ago when they nearly won the league? . Were you rooting for them in the penalty shoot out Tuesday night? . You want our closest rivals, a team we share a city with, to win a trophy, why? .

Haven't missed a home game in 5 seasons but yeah. Your mate is telling the truth and you know mine is lying, I advise you stop the petulant "go out more" that you've now said to 2 people. I'm on a phone not a keyboard. I find it ironic you telling everyone to get out more yet you claim to know last time I went a home game (I'm not even 40 years old, that's strike one) , when my mate is lying (that's striker two) and that I'm using a keyboard when clearly using a phone (ANNNNNND YOUR'E OUT) .

"I'm 100% blue, cept I'm a Liverpool fan on cup final day". That's strike four, why are you still on the field? .

Before you tell other people to get out more, you need to take a good long look in the mirror mate before making up things about other Evertonian's and tell them how to run their lives. What you're doing now is the stuff I used to do on this site and got slaughtered for, DROP THE PETULANCE.

Calm down Swan and Blueliam. You's are both passionate Evertonians.

Really who cares if some Everton supporters want the Reds to win. Personally I don't want them to win but I don't hate them and I don't want them to lose every game.

The only reason I don't want them to win is because where I drink the Red fans are the most annoying, loud mouthed a-holes who ever supported a team.

It's because of them I don't want them to win. I think its admirable for Blues to want the best for the Reds. Just not my thing.

It is every supporters own decision who they'd like to see win. Nothing any of us can do about that.

It doesn't matter to Everton who wins so why should we give a sh*t really.

28 Jan 2016 14:02:05
I'm slightly surprised with the amount of people wanting to sell Stones. Yes he is playing bad as of late and dropping him would give him the kick up the arse he needs.

But selling him, really? Imho the reason he's playing bad as of late and is showing his weaker side is a lot to do with Martinez.

Last night he was played out of position. We all know he's not a right back. As for playing with the ball too much, that is obviously what he's being told to do by management.

My opinion of Stones is still the same. He has a couple of bad games and everyone wants to sell him, wtf? He didn't become crap all of a sudden. Moral is at an all time low. He has made mistakes but he will improve from them.

I still think he will be top notch. If we get a decent manager who can help him develop properly he will improve. We all know Martinez is not a defensive coach.

I'd keep Stones at all costs. Get a new manager who knows how to defend and knows how to coach defence. Then I think Stones will be better than he ever was and will develop into one of the best centre halves England have had in a long time.

Exactly Stef the blue. Keep him at all costs. Why should Everton suffer from his mistakes and then when he's well developed some club come in and buy him. Get him to learn the trade here and in years to come we will benefit from the enormous talent we all know he has.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 15:20:41

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 15:21:29
Swan, it is only your opinion that says he doesn't want to be here. Have you heard it directly from him? I doubt you have. NBTB nails it when he says the lad is low on confidence/ moral so I think you are over reacting by coming to that conclusion. Defensively, we are not doing the right things, we are conceding goals and he is a part of that. It would have been better to have him on the bench last night rather than play him out of position.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 15:42:50
Transfer request tells me so.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 16:29:37
Lads if I got the abuse Stones gets, and I knew other clubs were interested. Then I would probably be off. So can't really blame him.
Not all his fault though, think about it this way. Your not playing well, the manager is telling you play from the back, so your constantly on the ball, with the away team pressurising you every minute of the game (because they know how we play) . And instead of taking you out the team he sticks you at right back, just to heap a little more pressure on.
I just feel like Barkley some of our supporters dissect every move they make, and are constantly looking for faults. There have been times when the press have praised Barkley for his performance, and then he gets ripped to bits by supporters. Who's watching what?
The end of the day the manager dictates as to how he wants them to play. So before you completely alienate our best young players, have a think about who is controlling them first.
You can have the best car in the race, but if the drivers bloody useless then you won't win many races.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 16:34:13
Utter crap mate. Yes he handed in a request but there has been plenty of games he's played well in since that. The more plausible reason is he is just having a bad spell, like every footballer goes through.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jan 2016 16:48:03
It's not utter crap, it's fact, he handed in a transfer request, that means he requested a transfer, sorry it's a hard concept to grasp. His form is irrelevant, he doesn't want to play for us anymore, why keep him? Wait til his contract runs down and get nothing for him? .

I never disagreed that he handed in a request so stop twisting things. I've heard you say on here that he has played well in a few games, all since he put in his request, so your point is invalid. What do you attribute his decent performances to?
Obviously his form is relevant, he is going through either a bad patch, as most do, or he is just low on confidence. It is that simple, that may be hard for you to grasp :)

Totally agree with every word spudv and Woburnblue.

Exactly Swan your maybe. Your last comment is all maybe. Your opinions.

Yes its a fact he put in a transfer request that was 5 months ago. He didn't get it and imho conducted himself in such a professional manner he could put players close to 30 to shame.

The transfer was denied. Until he requests another we should assume he wants to be at Everton. We can't assume otherwise as there is no indication currently that he wants to move.

We are currently in a transfer window. He had all month to request one and he didn't. So what does that tell you?

Exactly if he wanted to go that badly he would of asked to go. Don't bring up August again that's in the past where it is staying.

He's going through a bad patch which every player goes through. Did everyone think he wasn't going to put a foot wrong his whole career?

Come on give the lad a break. He's very young and is getting bad coaching and being played out of position. God knows if he went somewhere else with a better manager and better coaching he would improve greatly.

Martinez doesn't appreciate him enough in my opinion. Just like Joel. Joel is being treated very badly imho. Even Coleman in last 2 games. I don't know what Martinez does be thinking.

As for a hypothetical replacement, can anyone explain to me why Duncan Ferguson would be a good manager? Not arsed about "inspire some passion" stuff, anyone could do that. Just wondering if someone here did want him in, why?

Agreed mate it's sad to see people wanting him, he has no experience, the only coaching experience he has is under Martinez, the manager we want sacked, unbelievable.

He can't inspire anything as a coach and I don't think has actually done anything of note since he became a coach.

He can't even manage his bank account it looks like too, don't want the club in his hands.

Does anyone think Martinez gets a free pass from the media for his "nice guy" persona? . Yesterday 95% of his post match interview was moaning about Sterling's cross, while it was out of play, there were other issues, taking off Delboy, losing a 3-1 lead, John Stones being poor, putting Kone on the wing. The media never ask him proper tough questions, always the same rubbish over and over again. No pressure on him at all.

Everyone keeps saying Stones is not a right back, that's obvious, for me he's not a centre back either, he loves to play the ball too much to do what's needed and put his laces through the ball into row Z, McCarthy and Besic have both had injuries, that is a position I believe would suit him more, somewhere he can be great on the ball without the pure stupidity we've all seen over the last month or so.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

28 Jan 2016 12:27:07
I don't think it matters mate, he just doesn't look bothered, he could play right back, centre back, midfielder or up front and it wouldn't change anything. Where has the Stones from second half as last season and the season before gone? He was such a good defender. Now he's getting caught napping by a player the same height as Pienaar? . Honest blue asked if I've changed my opinion on Stones from calling him one of our best players, well, no, he is, when he tries anyway. He clearly isn't up for it anymore and it's impacting his performance massively, I want him gone because he's being poorly coached by Martinez and is making mistakes because of it.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 12:28:23

I agree with Swan. However I don't agree with selling Stones. Get rid of Martinez yes but not Stones.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 11:16:01
I haven't posted for a while because I've been too frustrated and the anger starts to take over. Now though I'm beyond all of that and just counting down the days to when Martinez is sacked.

I can't blame Stones for not excelling at right back last night as he never has when he has played for us in that position (remember the 4-nil defeat to Liverpool a couple of years back) . I can blame him for the risks he takes and the poor passing decisions he makes in the wrong areas.

However, surely the manager and coaches must be pointing these out though. These problems are not new, they have been going on since he came into the 1st team and yet he continues to make them. He still takes the same risks that cost us as he did when he made his 1st few appearances with us.

If he is not picking up on these in training and improving then surely we should just drop him and tell him "improve and you will get back in. Don't and you wont".

Another point is when Barkley plays in between the lines upfront his is brilliant as we saw last night in the first half. Put him in the wrong position which is in a deeper role he isn't. If you have a leg break in 3 position you are not going to go out there putting in tackles left right and centre.

Also, if your defence is performing poorly for three years then you need to invest in QUALITY defensive coaches and focus intensely on defending crosses, set pieces and closing down from midfield in between the lines.

If your goalkeeper is not performing and is suffering from a lack of confidence that is also contributing to poor defending then you either sign a new player or you put in a goalkeeper that is perfoming that you already have. Robles has been outstanding in the COC and for me is clearly a 1st choice keeper. I can't blame him for any goal this season he has conceded.

One more point. If your team is losing or needs a goal swapping right backs is not going to do it.

There are a load more points and everyone points to one common denominator - the manager.

Is it tactics - no. It's common sense. The board now need to use common sense and remove this manager now before we are in deeper trouble.

What is it that the Fraud can't see that is blatantly obvious for everyone else - Blues, Reds, Neutrals, Pundits, Media alike?
The man has gone beyond being a joke to an utter irritant, his philosophy is flawed, our inept board should have had the balls to sack him after the Newcastle away game - not this season but last season!
While this clown is at the helm there will never be any defensive structure or the capability to see out a game,
To have the shear nerve to go on air and say he is hurt after the defeat makes me sick, Barkley gave us a 2 goal lead and as much as I'd hate to see him back would Moyes have let that game slip through our grasp? the answer is most certainly no,
Please God Get Rid for Christ Sake!

I see RM reckons that we can take inspiration from the City games and still do something special this season. Am only assuming it's to attempt to become the leagues top scorers and worst defence in the same season. He also seems to be banging on about their second goal when the ball went out. So what! they should have had a penalty first leg, and Aguero was fouled in the build up to Barkleys goal. Gloss over that though, as that awful performance yesterday was obviously the referees fault. Wish he would just come out to the media and say, "yep the players lacked any passion and self belief, I tactically messed up and we have a lot of hard work to do on the training pitch. this season has been sub standard and the fans deserve better" instead of exciting journey, fantastic opportunity and special occasion and the rest of the tosh he comes out with. When everyone is fit, would be tempted for a shake up. Robles, Coleman, Funes Mori, Jags, Galloway, Deulofeu, McCarthy, Besic, Mirallas, Barkley, Lukaku. With the strict instructions to Barkley that unless he starts smiling, communicating with his team mates and passing and shooting more, he gets taken off at half time.

Well, that was a bit of an anticlimax! But should we be so surprised? As soon as I seen the line up I was scratching my head, Stones at RB when Seamus was on the bench, was a strange decision. Especially given the talent that City have on the wing. Stones has never looked comfortable at full back so it was always going to be a tall order for him, and it was as it turns out. To bring on Coleman once the game was just about lost, when we needed more attacking threat, shows how inept this manager is. Two games on the bounce we have been chasing a game, both times he has used his last sub and brought on a defender. Go figure. Gerri being hooked was also a strange decision. He was having a real go first half, looked lively and was a threat. So much so that, in the second half, City doubled up on him as their manager could see he was a threat. Now any manager worth his salt would see what the opposition are doing in that situation and react accordingly. The fact that he was drawing two players, to me at least, means the likes of Rom would have more space to play in. Evidently, our man in charge seen it differently and decided it was best to bring off one of our main threats. He should shoulder the blame for this defeat.
The only saving grace we have as supporters is that we could soon have new owners. If the take over is ratified by the end of the month then there will be changes throughout the club. New owners usually want to bring in their own man, hopefully these will be no different. For that reason, I am putting all my eggs in one basket and hoping for a positive outcome after the Americans have finished due diligence. A man can dream can't he?

I agree with you spud. If a player is fit enough to take up a place on the bench he surely is fit enough to start as in colemans case. Stones, s confidence is shot to pieces judging on his last few performances so to play him ahead of Coleman against the pace of Sterling who ripped Stones to bits in the league game was criminal imo. As was the decision to play Osman and to take gerry off. Stones is no right back he's a centre half and will turn out to be a world class one at that under the right guidance. All those who are screaming for him to be sold and slating him to bits need to get a grip really.

i got slated a couple weeks ago when I said sell stones as funes mori was better and capable of taking his place. I haven't changed my mind on this, but I do blame martinez for not bringing stones through with caution. yes probably stones will be better than mori in a few years, but football is all about getting 3 points every game, not talking about 3 points and using excuses. if the 1st team players can't preform than they must sit on the bench and watch the 2nd team players play with passion, don't matter if they lose, they are trying their hardest (heart and soul) for the manager and club. we don't win many anyway. I prefer a tryer than a lazy big headed money grabbing player with no passion.

Hey Dazza that's a really interesting post. MOYES GOT SLATED FOR "HOLDING BACK" young players and RM was the hero for introducing Barlkey and Stones intothe first teaam as regulars. In hindsight, I can see that perhaps Stones and Barkley both had too much responsibilityput on their young shoulders. Perhaps Moyes was right and a slower introduction into the first team would have been better? Difficult to say, but just perhaaps?

Agree2 Disagree4

28 Jan 2016 12:11:18
It just seems like another excuse for you to mention Moyes to be honest. If they're good enough then they're old enough but young players need quality guidence and feedback in order to develop and progress further. Martinez and his coaches don't seem to be doing that.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jan 2016 13:29:07
Pod your kind of contradicting yourself there. I think Degsypulford meant that the young players would get the proper guidance and feedback from Moyes. And that his approach is the more wiser one compared to Martinez.

28 Jan 2016 15:21:05
No I'm not. DP said a slower introduction to the first team. I don't agree. They can still be played but need coaching and honest feedback. RM is not developing them as I don't see that people like Barkley or Stones have actually improved.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 09:26:20
I don't know if I am missing something here but if Coleman is fit why was he on the bench and Stones playing RB. What Martinez is saying is Stones is a better RB than Coleman, or is it because his defensive qualities are better.

Taking Delofue off surprised me. The one person who would have been likely to create something.

Stones body language this month seems to be couldn't care less and says I want a move. Possibly the same with Lukaku unless carrying an injury. But if we had adequate cover wouldn't have to play injured players.

A golden opportunity missed this season for top 4 place and Wembley final all missed due to Martinez bad management.

In fairness to take issue with the ball being out of play when Stirling crossed for City's goal only cancels out that City should have had a penalty at Goodison, so sorry Martinez times up.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2016 09:44:31
I couldn't agree more with your comments. If Coleman was fit he should have played. Stones never a right back. He should have brought on Lennon instead of Coleman. Martinez has to change tactics or we are going to be in a relagation battle. We all know he likes to play football from the back, that's fine but pass it quicker!

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jan 2016 10:21:21
Stones at RB wrong if Coleman fit. Another example of Martinez trying to fit a round peg in square hole. I suspect that he/ we would have been better playing Stones, Jags, Mori as a back 3 with Coleman and Baines as wing backs, This would enable us to press forward while preventing the opposition getting in behind, 5, 3, 2. To late now but Naisy gone (doesn't need replacing according to RM) and keeping Kone was stupid just stupid.

Why doesn't Martinez adopt the'high press'?

Many of the the comments we see are focused on our inability to press high and I pretty much agree with them all. I think I have the reason for why we don't and what we must Change to make the process happen.

As well as Barry has been playing, and he has been regularly our best player, I would still drop him. With him in our side we will always play tippy tapped and not a high pressing game.

If we play Mcarthy, as a protector of the back four with Besic and Cleverly ahead of these, then we would have the speed to recover from a failed high press. Barry just hasn't got the pace to adapt to the inevitable fast break from the opposing team.

Our back four could then play slightly higher up the field and take responsibility for bringing the ball out from defence in a more advanced position rather than the suicidal areas they are currently attempting to start moves from.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jan 2016 09:13:05
What I do not understand is that most teams play one striker, so why do we need two defensive midfielders in front of the back four, so you are right a more conventional 442 or 4411 will allow us to press higher up the pitch!

Oh dear. I left it until this morning to allow mmy self to calm ddown a bit. And I really do not want to say stuff that just antagonises fellow Blues because I know we are all suffering together. I will try really hard not to make this another I told you so posting because that also does not makeme feel any better. What I will saay is that I know I rub some people up with comments that I put on here and maybe I don't consider just how passionate others are. I guess I assume I am the only one who can suffer being an Evertonian the way I do. I know we all had disagreements about Moyes leaving. and even Osman and goalscorers. But what is still blatantly obvious to me and I think Swan pointed it out really well in his post, is that we are not a pressing team. We sit off. And we do rely almost 100% on Lukaku. This bit is what scares me to death. No way is he going to stay with us. It might not be this season that he goes although that is a real possibility. because when he cannot be arsed playing, we look terrible. When he is in the mood, we look great. So my fear is that when he goes (and I have been saying this for ages) we will have a team that can pass the ball around for 60% of the game. our back 4 will see more of the ball thaan ever and we will alwaays be giving away silly goals and then unable to score at the other end. because all the players he signs are not able to score goals. Besides Lukaku, Barkley and Mori, the return of goals from the rest of the team is very poor.

He has made a good start to destroying this great club, I have never in my life felt so down about football, don't look forward to games anymore I don't want to feel like this I want to love it. Yes Cities 2nd goal came from a cross that was out and yes Martinez can have a blast but we defend so deep that it allows Teams onto us. Game after game we play this tippy tappy stuff hoping beyond hope that if the opposition score 3 we score 4. As for the officials it is appalling that professionals can make errors that cost Clubs so much (in revenue and prestige) and nothing happens to them, they are protected by their hierarchy to an unacceptable degree. If Clubs suffer because of the officials mistakes then so should officials.

I just wonder has there ever been a Manager of this great Club (Walker perhaps) that has brought so much disillusionment to so many. This is his third season, his methods just do not work at this level (success has always been lower down I. E. Swansea into League 1) , it showed at Wigan season after season struggling and then having relegated them he comes to us bringing all of the self same staff that assisted him in taking Wigan down. I just do not know what it will take for our Board to take action but if they don't I really do fear for us.

gutted, but here it is, the manager is weak can't lead a team or pick one, us fans can't understand what he babbles on about imagine what the players think, he will never blast players never tell them were they are going wrong he just can't manage a team the man won't have the brain to think we got to turn are attention to staying in this league he genuinely believes we are to good to go down well what have we said for years nobody is to good to go down remember clough doing the same this at forest playing nice football but getting beat all the time then bang they were gone and still to return, he had same mentality at wigan thought they were to good to go down never changed his policy and bang they have gone and are yet to return, the players and the fans need to put pressure on the board and voice there concern or it will be to late its got to happen now, the players especially stones and barkley believe in the hype that surrounds them me personally wouldn't be suprized if stones has been told by his agent to start making the mistakes he is to get the move the guy needs dropping and sold in the summer, am sorry barkely is going the way barrlow, branch, jeffers, rodwell and many more kids who have been brought through the ranks he's going backwards need to get shut if the 30mill offer comes in, the thing that scares me the most is we won't have the mentality to cope with a relegation fight we have no leaders or experience to get us out of a free fall and Martinez has proven he ain't good enough to get us out of that situation coupled that with the fact we can't defend is a sign of disaster the man has to go now.

hahahahaha got to laugh or there would be another river Mersey be just like us to hit form now the irony was we have moaned and moaned about draws and how we would of loved one last night, new the 0-0 week before would haunt us its called the everton way mate.

{Ed025's Note - it does test you at times being an evertonian muff, why do we do this to ourselves?..im sure a doctor or professor somewhere will find a cure one day, until then..its COYB,, :)

28 Jan 2016 07:20:35
but I will always say it this is what been a true supporter is about we have proved it and we must always remember that we are born any one can be a glory hunter and we have a right to be bitter twisted and proud with the crap we have put up with and coped with must admit supporting everton is like smoking they take 1 year off your age each season and like a devoted marriage love them hate them but always stay with them.

{Ed025's Note - your right there muff, but it could be classed as self harm mate.. :)

We have no winners, bar Tom Cleverley not one of them has a winners mentality, way too nice. We have an awful mental block in big games and we need players who hate to lose, we have no one like that. Ironic the 2 players moaning about trophies and champo league football were the one's stinking the place out. Martinez now has a worse record than Walter Smith, that's amazing.

Who is there tonight desperate and willing to do everything to win? Osman yes, Cleverley yes, Mori definitely, Joel yes. Everyone else was just strolling along, Baines and Barkley were embarrassing as was Jags, not one of them trying to pump the team up.

Another issue we have is this is a lazy team, I don't mean tracking back, we make no effort to press. We don't hunt in packs and are not aggressive, Besic is the only one, as was Naismith and Mirallas and that's why we love them. Lukaku could have had a field day today against their awful defenders, wasn't arsed. He's not willing to run and it's irritating, one game, a massive game and he doesn't want to turn up. There is no press from the players, look how well Spurs do this, Barca, the club we are supposed to be copying, have a 5 second rule were they hunt in packs to win it back, we don't. Too many of them not willing to get it back, everyone just wants the finishing touch to a goal.

John Stones was atrocious tonight. Do fans still want to give Martinez more time? . Look at Liverpool, they have a dreadful team and yet they still win, why? It's been installed in the club, from the players to the board. They have a winners mentality, Gerrard had this in abundance. Who do we have like that? Barkley? The only time he opens his mouth is to spit. Embarrassing.

On the managers front, we need a winner, I don't want Karanka or Howe or any other "young upcoming" manager. The last 2 managers have been that and won absolutely nothing. Emery from Sevilla, though not sure how likely that is. Knowing the board we will get another yes man, someone like John Carver maybe.

Joel-6-Can't blame him for any of the goals, saved Barry first half.

Stones-3-Awful for Sterlings cross, the fact it was out is irrelevant when he gives Sterling the free 5 yards to run in to, got beaten in the air by 5 foot 8 Aguero.

Jagielka-5-Horrendous by him, flapped at each ball over the top and was of course, a dreadful captain.

Funes Mori-8-Dominated all over the park and actually looked arsed, unlike his fellow defenders.

Baines-5-Got ran ragged by Sterling and then Navas, awful going forward. So many sloppy passes, but, you know, he was the best left back in the league 4 years ago so don't criticise him.

Cleverley-5-Overran all game.

Barry-5-See Cleverley.

Deulofeu-6-Yes he missed a good chance, can create something from nothing, his sub was the worst decision for a substitute I've ever witnessed.

Barkley-6-Good goal, did nothing else, had the chance to play Rom in, failed as usual. 4-3 down and he's trying to beat 4 players on the left and shoot. Said it before he sees the highlight of the goal in his head and that's all he cares about.

Osman-6.5-Didn't play too bad, used his experience well, tired after a while of course.

Lukaku-4-Stunk the place out, not willing to move, touch was poor, so sluggish and slow. Never looked bothered, oh how I wish we had a better back up. Someone like Shane Long would have been perfect this game.

Never bring on Kone when it involves taking Deulofeu off, some kind of sick joke. Martin Atkinson awful as per usual against us but meh. Let's hope City beat them in the final and Liverpool don't win anything either this season. Though I know some of our fans are desperate for them to do the cup double. Why didn't he bring on Naismith, oh right, the clown sold him.

Sad, gutted and heartbroken yet again by Everton, please sack Martinez and tell him to take Stones with him.

{Ed025's Note - the only things i can argue about are that i thought clevs and barry were better than you marked them, and lukaku cant win a game on his own he needs service and support, which im sure he will get when he leaves in the summer, but a good passionate post mate..

Bad nights sleep. Have suffered another in the long line of disappointments being a Blue. A lot of truth in Swans post which made me feel worse.
Besic for captain. Almost anyone else for manager.

I know people opinions can change but you was singing stones praises as our best player not more than 2 months ago.

Swan, by your own admission, you are not old enough to remember much of Walters reign. You can't really compare the two imo for the following reason. Walter had his hands tied by Johnson, was forced to sell our better players and work with an ageing squad. RM has had plenty of cash to spend and has a relatively younger squad at his disposal, according to most our best team for a long time. Walter also stopped this club from free falling into oblivion all them years ago by helping us to get rid of that chairman. Make no mistake, if he hadn't have challenged him then your childhood memories of EFC would have been of the lower leagues mate.
I never entirely agree with you on your scores for players but that is what football is about, if we all had the same outlook and opinions then it would be boring. For me, there is only one mark and that is for the manager, the players I wouldn't bother scoring.
Martinez - 1. And that's it, it tells us everything we need to know. He bottled it on all the important decisions from before we kicked off right up until the final whistle, from team selection to substitutions, the man let us all down yet again.
Couple that with having to play against a very good City team and we were up against it from the first minute.

Does anyone know what we've done to deserve this constant sh*t? Liverpool get battered by Stoke but obviously win on pens. We create chances, survive constant pressure, thin spanish waiter takes off our only threat then soft lad lookin like Wilfried Bony cuts it back from the advertising boards. Now De Bruyne is injured which is only going to benefit them. Being a blue is like living a constant nightmare. Wouldn't have it any other way though.
