Seems to have lost his way at Arsenal would anybody take Abou Diaby? {Ed025's Note - not for me mate..

Believable2 Unbelievable5

No I don't think he would fit our style or work ethic.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

People said that about gibson...

Agree0 Disagree0

I wasn't one of those people, I was more than happy when we signed Gibbo, but Abou Diaby isn't Gibbo. He is totally Inconsistent, makes howlers on a regular basis, doesn't track back that well and seems to be out every other week with a broken fingernail or ripped sock.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diaby would be a great addition, you can't teach that talent, you can teach work ethic and discipline, especially with moyes cracking the whip!

Agree0 Disagree0

You are right, you can not teach talent, but for the 60k a week he is on at Arsenal I would want someone with self discipline and a good work ethic already in place, talent is not enough on its own, you say DM could teach it? Maybe, then again maybe not, two things you can not teach are passion and commitment he seems to have neither, for me he just isn't worth the gamble.

WtG. {Ed025's Note - i agree wtg..

Agree0 Disagree0

Wenger won't sell him. He said that he highly rates the player and he is in his plans this season.

I have been told 4.7m. No way they would haggle this long for 3m. God is great. Pienaar is better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The time delay is more likely to have been BK doing the haggling to get it down to 3m

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

The deal was done over a week ago. The time delay is connected to new investment

All this talk of Adam Johnson on this site makes me wonder are we even interested in him Ed? {Ed025's Note - only moyes, and BK can answer that mate...but he is a quality player, who does not seem to fit in at city, so i think lots of teams are interested...us included..

Love to mention my point of view.

Last Summer

we got drenthe and straq last year on loan .... we were really happy.

This Summer

Piennar and Naismith and we have not even completed July

Happy Days {Ed025's Note - good point mate..

Believable9 Unbelievable0

1) We wasn't 'really happy' and 2) we've already lost the best part of 10 players this window {Ed025's Note - wind your neck in will you!...AND STOP MOANING!...for christs sake..

Agree0 Disagree0

10 players?? Seriously? Name one player outside Cahill that delivered anything, or would have delivered anything...

You wouldn't have got more than 10 starts combined out of the players that left this year (including Cahill).

Letting highly paid players that wont get used is called good business. The players with currently unfulfilled potential, better to sell them with a high sell-on clause with the benefit of regular first team football increasing the fee and value over the next few years. If a 20 year old is 3 years away from breaking into the first team, why bother keeping him.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2012 21:37:03
Can we have a change of things being posted as of late it has been a lot of doom and gloom.
We are efc, we don't do things easy and never will, even if we get taken over it will be the same it the efc way
So good moods please, and let's get onto the next rumour.

Ed051

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Good point number 51. Looks certain we have 2 new signings. Looking forward to another 1 maybe 2.

Nothing but positive so far from me Ed.

Transfer business has become a cagey game of chess between big businesses that football clubs in the premier league now are. I think Everton have been waiting to finally close the deal on Piennar to see what may be left over in disposable income (allowing too for one more outgoing) to chase an affordable target who can play right wing. It might be a lower league player...or someone plucked from a less fashionable club abroad but I expect one more signing will be announced before the big kick off. {Ed025's Note - i think so too mate..

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I think we may get one right winger in on the cheap as you said and I also think Moyes will get a striker in on loan. What do you reckon Ed?
Joe EFC {Ed025's Note - i think after peanuts, we will get one more, it may be on the cheap, or a loan...if i was to guess...i would say a striker..

Great news about Peanuts, he really makes our side tick, and gives us that extra something special! however with the fee being undisclosed i cant help but wonder is this another financial calamity by the board, IE..... between the potential difference in transfer fee we sold him to spurs for and are now paying spurs for him and his signing on fee (also the fee for taking him on loan in January), and wages, would it not just have been better buisness to have given Peanuts the extra 10 thousand a week or so he wanted back in january 2011 to stay with us.!!

IMWT

Kurajan

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Ever think we may not have been able to give him that extra 10k back in 2011? With pushing the boat out on wages for the Spanish Deserter and the overdraft etc.
Just be happy he is back!

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

An extra £10k at that time would have meant others expecting more

Nick O

Moyes and the board really need to be going to right wingers and saying "we've one place that needs filling to make this a great team and it could be you" and selling it to them that way - not just wages etc

Believable3 Unbelievable1

And how would that get around the issue of agreeing a transfer fee with the club they are at?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2012 19:49:13
we should sign nathan redmond from birmingham or matt phillips from blackpool for RM.

cp

Believable2 Unbelievable1

For the money the clubs would ask for either of those I would rather try and talk the LA Galaxy in to doing a deal for Donovan as he is entering the last 12 to 18 months of his contract.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

Phillips and Redmond are young and donavon is 30! Even though I rate them all I would rather have Tom ince from Blackpool as he is cheaper, in my eyes better and has a lot of potential, and I would love to see the looks on the kopites faces in a couple of years when he turns into a world beater. They would flip, releasing him to Blackpool for free and then comming to us, It would be classic!!

howard
hibbert, jags, heitinga, baines.
johnson, gibson, fellaini, pienaar
naismith
jelavic {Ed025's Note - thats one hell of a team..

Believable4 Unbelievable1

You might call me stupid but i believe that team above could challenge for a top 4 or 5 place. Terry blue {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree Tegs, please god let us get Adam Jonno, strager things have happened

Degsybluenose

Agree0 Disagree0

With Chelski, the Spuds and RS going through a period of transition with new managers etc. Arsenal in a total mess with top players wanting out, I think if injuries were kind to us that team could make a serious attempt for the title never mind top 5.

WtG.

Agree0 Disagree0

That specific team could beat any team, but you cannot challenge for the title with 11 class players only. You need at least 16 or 17 of the same quality and then another 5 or 6 that are solid. I even think Europe or a Cup this year would be a great step, and a charge the year after at CL with some additional investment on the back of European revenue, and the youngsters starting to push into regular first team spots.

Been having a little think and tbh it's really the end of the world if our transfer dealings finish as they are, I mean we have Barkley to slot straight in cahills role in behind jelly, who I think will flourish, far more technical than timmy and will just feed little passes in behind all day, or we can easily change to a 4-3-3 style you still have the solid back four felli and gibbo in the middle of the park with Barkley or junior or even rodders then Naismith on the left just off jelly osman right with his iniesta like runs and ofc jelly through the middle, I still reckon things are looking very promising, the players missed out on like rodallega and hoilett would we really want them? Personally they are Liverpool type signings, good at little clubs so hyped up would rather just keep what we have now and challenge top 4 than sell a baines, felli, jonny, jelly type player just to make a signing. Or am I just going crazy? You heard any news ED?

On the Red Bulls site they are claiming that Cahill made the "very easy decision to leave Everton and join the Red Bulls".Im pretty sure he said it was one of the hardest decisions he ever had to make. Pathetic Americans trying to say that Tim would prefer it over there he only left because his body could no longer cope with the physical demands of the premier league and that he deserved one last pay out.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Good move for both partys but I believe Tim Cahill could of handled another season in the premiership with ease. Good luck to him

I know it's not an Everton issue, but one of the earlier posts mentioned the opening ceremony last night & called it "outstanding", (apart from MacCartney). I'd just like to know from my fellow Evertonians, if it's just me, but I thought it was terrible!
The first half hour seemed to consist of people in costume moving round bits of scenery, then there was a disjointed mish mash of short films, so called "comedy" items, & badly mixed music with 2nd rate choreography.
I gave it 50 minutes or so, then turned over to a repeat episode of CSI on cable!
Have to say it, but the Manchester Commonwealth games opening knocked last night's pathetic effort into a cocked hat!
Or........is it just me? Thoughts please, guys?

I think a point lots of fans miss when it comes to the subject of BK selling the club is the stadium issue, other clubs like Leeds and Forest who are both sleeping giants of the game will have been undervalued because of division they play in so a reasonably modest investment could see both teams in the prem in a couple of seasons thus creating a profit for owners. Whereas everton as a reasonably successful prem outfit have a higher price tag and also even if BK sold the club for say the 30 mil he paid for it there is still the debt (30 - 40 mil) and the funds for a stadium (poss 150 mil for a good one) then transfer funds say 20 mil all of a sudden you're in 230 - 250 mil territory so is it REALLY a surprise we haven't been taken over don't think there are too many people with that kind of cash to throw about

Bebington Blue {Ed025's Note - good point mate..

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I agree mate but when you add the extra £100m BK is looking for you're in the £350m region. At least if he did sell for say £50m he'd give us a chance at being sold.

And before the BK fan club jump on this, yes i know that no-one knows what the asking price is but there have been talks and approx values have been leaked.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stadium is an issue yes, but the fact that BK and the board are wanting around the ballpark of 150mil, a ridiculous profit on what they originally paid for, despite a) stripping the club of more or less ALL our assets and b) drowning the club in debt.

I mean Ashley, the owner of Newcastle is wanting less for Newcastle than our board, and to be fair Newcastle have a top class stadium with a very good fan base.

When Moyes said some time ago that he would have liked to have replaced some of the older players, I think he must have had Cahill in mind. Cahill was a great servant to the club, and at his best, a great goal poacher. But his limitations when brought deeper into midfield became obvious, just as it became obvious that injury took its toll on Arteta's ability to do something special. Moyes knew that stakes and let both move on and although its difficult to cut the ties with respected and honourable players, there is little room for sentiment if you want to have a cutting edge. I think we would have all loved to see two great friends, Tim and Mikel, pick up a trophy in a blue shirt, but fate dictated otherwise. A clinical analysis of the cup tie with Liverpool showed that we needed to move on and change things for the coming season to have a realistic chance of winning silverware. I trust that Moyse may have a new prospect in mind. We certainly need a midfielder that can play the telling pass. For me, the pass from Donovan to Vic at Villa for his goal showed exactly what we have been missing.....we need a bit more vision and a bit more pace. With another yard of pace Osman has the technique to have been an England regular, but he cant lose someone quickly and we have to measure ourselves against the best.....lets hope there's something going on behind the scenes that will bring a new face to Goodison that will surprise us......no one expected Millwall to produce a great gift to Everton. Good luck and thanks for the memories Tim Cahill.
