Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

only saw the first half of the United Wigan game so not sure how he got on in the second half. But callum connely who has just joined them on loan from us looked really good. Didn't look out of place against united (albeit not full strength) . Only thing I can think he done wrong was their first goal. Even that, fellini moved onto him and out muscled him to get to the ball. Not much he could have done about it. Seems the conveyor belt of talent is well and truly at full pelt at the minute.

Maybe it was my TV but couldn't really make him out at times didn't stand out, but I know he is a great one for the future

That sounds good to me. can anyone else shed any light on this?

Thanks

Only when the roof is open!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 09:00:57
What would be the point of a retractable roof?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 09:40:34
A case of sink or swim. Saves using the Car. Will be able to canoe down.

30 Jan 2017 11:48:04
The roof would gives us more options on hosting events at the ground Stevo, which would earn more revenue.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 16:48:32
Stevo, would mean stadium could be used all year round regardless of weather conditions. Concerts, other sporting events.

I see below that someone mentioned obstruction. What is everyone interpratation of a goalkeeper kicking from his hands. Last weekend my GK kicked out of his hands and the opposing player put his foot out to impede his kick no contact was made, it put off the GK and kick the ball half the normal distance resulting in the other team scoring. I looked at FIFA rules and it should be an indirect free kick. My interpretation is you can't impede a goal kick and it is unsporting behaviour. The referees interpretation was if it was in area the opposing player can't do it but he said the GK motion was when the keeper released ball to kick the ball it was outside the 18yd line allowing the player to put his foot up. I thought it was all one motion? Thoughts and opinions please.

If no contact is made and the ball is not kicked out of the GK's hands it is hard to see how the referee can punish it, true it may be unsporting behaviour in theory but it certainly does not come under obstruction or impeding. You take a free kick and I am the correct distance away but happen to block your kick, is that punishable.

Would love a Everton to sign Javier Hernandez

I like the centre back Harry Maguire of Hull, aggressive leads the line well good in the other half at set pieces, it would be nice to see him at Goodson

My only concern Uran would be he likes to bring the ball out and get forward and we have just sold a defender like that who cost us too many goals.

I would take ivanovich on a free i know he's 32 but he would do for 2 seasons

{Ed002's Note - Everton are not allowed to talk with him without going through the club.}

Not strictly Everton related but how nice to see football returning to Aleppo.
They played their first professional game there in 5 years yesterday, a derby between Al Ittihad and Hurriya, Al Ittihad won 2-1.
I think it's wonderful how football unites people whatever the circumstances.

We currently have five defensive midfielders, with Barkley and Davies as are two attacking midfielders, all be it Davies can do both. Our focus should be on a striker and a centre back.
RK has got a real challenge on his hands keeping all of these guys happy, which is probably the best thing that has happened to the club in a long time.

Gibson and McCarthy are all but out the door, barry is 36 in a few weeks and has 18months at best left in him and won't be playing week in/ out. I'd like to see besic return and partner with gueye

mirallas, barkley, davies, bolasie, lennon, del boy, valencia, bit more than 2 attacking mids

Agree0 Disagree5

29 Jan 2017 18:13:09
I wouldn't call Mirallas, Bolasie, Lennon, Del Boy or Valencia attacking midfielders. What you have there is four wingers and a striker?
None have the ability to run/ dictate the pace of the midfield, and drive the team on.

Like the lad but his style of play does not lend well to being one of the two DM's, he is more useful in a free defensive role.

I am a real softie when it comes to records being broken, it really puts a lump in my throat when a player or team smash a record.
So let's hope Liverpool can end their 94 year wait for 4 home losses in a row.
And if they do I will certainly put rivalry aside and celebrate with them.

Oooooh me too Smit666. It was all going so swimmingly well with the new manager too. let's hope that your wish comes true and that the fact they only have one trophy to concentrate on does not go in their favour!

Just an aside to that. Do you think all seating has killed the Kop?
It use to be one of there biggest strengths. Now they just sit there looking pissed off. Mind you that might have something to do with what they are watching I suppose. 😂

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 14:41:10
The kop used to be full of scousers, now it isn't. That was one of their strenghts, the infamous 12th man. Most on the kop don't know the words to the songs now.

Hi all just a couple of days left to this crazy window, just a thought, if we do get a signing or two before the end on Tues who would you like to see in, I would like Begovic and a striker then i would be a happy bunny, have to say I wouLd still be happy with the business R K has already done here's, GuernseyBlue

Hi Ed isee Chelsea willing to let Begovic go, I would put a bid in for him great goalkeeper at sensible price, GuernseyBlue

{Ed002's Note - Everton should have done that in the summer.}

29 Jan 2017 11:41:04
To be fair, there was a heck of a lot going on, on the good ship Goodison in the summer. We did get an awful lot done in the short time left at the end of the window. Let's see how we go from the end of this window. To be honest we are doing far better than I would have hoped but the real work will be done this coming summer window and pre-season.

I think Robles deserves a proper chance, for the rest of the season at least.

Robles is just as good begovic why replace Joel right now while he's in form of his life?

29 Jan 2017 02:42:41
Just a question. Since Idrissa has left we have been very good. Now that he is coming back, does he slot straight back into the team. Because now we will have Davies, Snides, Gueye and Barry I think fighting for 2 spots. What do people think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 08:33:43
And like I posted yesterday. McCarthy too with Besic about 4 weeks away from fitness. Oh what a horrible dillema for the manager. That was very poor of him making such a strong squad!

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 08:35:53
For me he waits on the bench. we can't change a winning team except for injury

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 09:13:10
Presumably schneids is not fit enough to play a full game, so I would start him alongside Davies. Gana has been our best player throughout the season and we will definitely need him breaking up play, especially against Stoke at home.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 09:20:50
Start on the bench. As good as he has been he was part of team that was on a poor run before he left for ACON. Whereas the current lineup is on a little run at the moment.

Remember that our 2 new signings haven't started a match yet so there will be some tough decisions for Koeman to make in the coming weeks.

I'm sure he'd rather his problems right now though than klipperties.

It's funny how it was cortinios return that was going to fix their poor run of results, but now that he hasn't it's now Mane's. Love it.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 09:43:07
Yeah I forgot about those Boys McCarthy and Besic. can't remember the last time we had quality on the bench in the midfield. I guess this is what we call a rebuild. I'm loving the fact that we have direction and a purpose now.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 11:43:22
efcfanatic, Everton would have watched him during the African Cup, like we do with all our players away on International duty. The report will be there for Koeman to read and he will make the call. Fine by me.

Not EFC related but educate me!
An obstruction is an indirect free kick even in penalty area?
Spurs on MOT just got a penalty err?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jan 2017 08:35:24
My thoughts exactly Mushy. But I have to add that I have not seen an indirect free kick given for obstruction for a few seasons now. I believe the rules were changed? Maybe Ed002 can throw some light on this one?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is now covered by the rule of impeding a player and it is an indirect free kick - I agree the whole concept seems to have drifted away.}

29 Jan 2017 11:47:53
As has holding players it would seem. The main bug for me and has been for years, is when referees book a player early in the game and then when the same player commits a much worse foul he is only cautioned and not shown a second card.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 12:43:43
Indirect free kicks in the box were quite common at all levels of the game until about 20 years ago. It is nearly always for "obstruction". The problem has been that players now deliberately obstruct, which can be seen as "reckless or excessively forceful", hence a direct free kick/ penalty

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 12:45:13
So to add to that, it is the interpretation of the law the official wants to deem the "foul"

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jan 2017 14:33:15
The blocking and "arming" off of opposition players seemed to creep into the game from the continent. 20 years ago sliding/ hard tackles were common place with little use of the arms/ handing off. That has now gone full circle to the point some tackles seem to warrant a red card that in the past wouldbe deemed great tackles. Likewise, the use of a palm to push away a player was an instant booking. now it is not a foul if you are shielding the ball. Kids are even taught how to do this effectively now. My Son went on one of the Everton training days a few years ago and was taught how to fend off the opposition with a palm.

If the move to the Bramley Moor site comes off I think jags will stay along with Barry and would make sense why we are linked with Ivanovic. Anyone else seen the post code? L3 0AP
