Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

These rumours quoting a 16mil deal for Bony seem abit half baked. Swansea are going to lose him, that's a given. But only making a 1mil immediate profit on his signing fee? His wages over the year were more than that so that would mean an overall loss on a quality forward. Left foot, right foot, strong, quick, good in the air and brings wide players into the game. Football is a buisness there's no way he's going anywhere for less than 20mil.

Which means we would have to smash our transfer record to sign him. I rate him, but the second season syndrome seems to expose most of the forwards in the prem. I don't think it's a sound investment more of a punt. I could be wrong and he could be the next 20 goal a season number 9 we haven't had since the Yak.

Either way Samaras isn't going anywhere near finch farm unless Bobbys lost it. COYB

IMo 1m profit is a good profit especially if the cash is all up front. Swansea may still be paying for Bony so it could make financial sense, if you know the player is going anyway. Waiting for an extra couple of million that may or may not happen and to have the payments split over a set period just may not be as atractive as cash up front.

Totally plausible. The nutter to Arsenal. Gomis to Swansea, Remmy to Spurs Bony to Everton. Bit like selling a house. Rather have Remy though!

Cleverley or no Cleverley I believe they are smokescreens for the real players we are after, leave it to Bobby to do his magic GuernseyBlue

I have the greatest respect for RM, but please think again before commiting our limited funds on a bid for Cleverley, he gives average a bad name.

{Ed025's Note - calling him average JCW, is boosting him up big time mate..

As much as I share people's opinion in Cleverly, maybe he'd be different under Robbie? Not sure where he'd fit into the team if Barry does sign and with Gibbo back

Even bentley knew when to call it a day and open a pub lol

RM has done OK so far imho in his transfer dealings (in and out) at Everton, so any player he deems fit to join our squad will get my support. In fact, any player who has the privilege to wear the Royal Blue shirt would get my support as long as he gives his best.
Until a player actually signs, it's all gossip and speculation anyway, so what's the point of all this wailing and gnashing of teeth about certain disliked players who have been linked. Besides, I doubt that RM pays any attention to the imploring of a handful of doom-mongers on this site who have it in for some players who are their pet hates or are being criticised by an orchestrated mob feeding frenzy.
No one's perfect - and RM makes mistakes - but can anyone still doubt that he's had a very good first season and BK made a very good decision when he appointed him.
He's the right one, he's the bright one, he's Martinez!

{Ed025's Note - i dont see it as doom mongering sid, more the quality of player we need for the team to improve, we all have opinions on the ones we would like, and as you say anyone who dons the shirt will get the full support, but i see nothing wrong with hoping we sign players of at least premiership class mate..

I don't know the bloke, so I'm guessing here, but Bentley seems to me to be a prime example of a player who just didn't know how to be a top professional footballer by combining undoubted talent, hard work, a good (humble, but confident and determined) attitude, and listening to sensible advice from managers, coaches, senior players, etc., about how to make a success of your career. We've had a few young talents at Everton who've fallen by the wayside over the years, but normally they're out of top-flight football fairly early. It's unusual for it to take as long as Bentley - he's 29 I believe - and even then his excuse is that he's fallen out of love with game. Someone should tell him that a lot of us thought that his performances in the past weren't indicative of him ever being in love with game - he was just in love with himself or so it seemed!

I believe martinez worked with Cleverley when on loan at Wigan so we must trust in the fact that he believes the boy has something to offer everton!

Cowpat Sid. I totally agree with your Bentley assessment. Refusing to play fir the under 21s because he was tired didn't cut it with anyone. I thought the whole thing was a little embarrassing for the lad.

As regards Cleverly. I'd like to see what way he can make us a champions league side. I must admit it stretches my imagination a bit too thin, even accepting the other posters arguments.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025: I agree that we should be bringing in players that are "Premier League" class - as well as letting our talented youngsters realise their "Premier League" potential - and everyone is entitled to an opinion about individual players, but I take the view that RM knows more (and surely not any less) about a player's qualities than any of our posters. How many posters criticised the signings of, for example, Barry and McCarthy last summer? Look at how that midfield pairing was a key to our lovely style of play that led to a record points haul (in the Premier League era) and European qualification.
I stick by what I posted: if RM thinks a player is good enough, then that is good enough for me for now. :-)

{Ed025's Note - i trust him implicitly sid, but i would still like a couple of big names, if only to wipe the smug smile off the face of them lot across the park who think they are better than us mate.. :)

On cleverly why do we judge so quickly.i remember when we signed barry and mccarthy.barry so to old to slow.turned out to be one of our top performers.mccarthy we paid to much for.now his value is double.cleverly imo is like jordon henderson. and remember liverpudlians still think they would have won the league. had henderson not been suspended for last couple of games of the season.so if we do sign cleverly I for one will get right behind him and no doubt everyone else will to.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i said the same about gibbo richie, and he turned out to be a good signing, so your right about not being able to tell mate, its just that i dont see what he can offer that we dont already have, i want the money spent on 2 class forwards and a winger myself...but saying that i trust bobby 100% to make the right choices..
