Good result from a less than top performance at WBA.
A few constructive observations that define the difference in top performances against Soton and Chelsea and last night's.
We are far better when we move the ball quicker and whilst Ross is playing better this season, he needs coaching out of unnecessary pirouettes that look pretty but all too often slow play down. When he drives at defenders and releases the right pass or plays the 40-45 yard pass, like the one to Gerry which resulted in the cross which led to the first goal last night, he is much more effective.
Also, contrary to some posts, Gerry throughout the game played crosses into the danger areas which were not anticipated by Rom or Naisy with Ross missing a sitter from one.
All credit to the team to come back from 2 nil down to win without playing to our full potential, augers well.
We have another great young player in Galloway and Mori had a good full debut and looks a good defender

You're right Fancy he did whip a cpl of balls across the box in the first half but only after messing around with it. Lukaku n Naisy must have no idea what he's going to do or when he is going to decide to cross. And on several occasions he tried for no reason to beat 1 or 2 men first and could not so had to turn around and go backwards.

Second half he stopped messing around and whipped it in immediately. It was then that we scored. I'm not saying he should never try to beat a man just that he needs to realize that sometimes a first time cross is just as good and is what Lukaku in particular can thrive on!!

Hes got to play delafo on sunday
I would slot stones back in and play the same team
We will hopefully be more up for it from the start
I normally start getting them nervous twitching pains before the derby, but other than the kickoff i'm really looking forward to it, if we give them a beating, a day off monday will be required COYB

How good is it at the moment being an Everton supporter. 4 points off top after a difficult start. Still in the cup competition. Squad is very strong, we have the best Captain in the league ( leads by example).

Winning games despite missing 3 of our 4 best defenders, Martinez tactics getting better. Telling Mourinho where the sun don't shine with Stones. What's there not to love about Everton!

Great result and we showed a lot of heart and fighting spirit to turn it around! However it was a poor performance to the point of Lukaku's first gaol that had put us in that position, and it is not the first time.
We really need to be on our game from kick off, start more fired up and with a confidence that second half showed we have.
It's like we have a kick around for the first half hour to see how the game will pan out, it's time we showed more belief from the off, more desire and put teams under rather than inviting them on to us.
But all in all a lot of positives considering the quality of players that were out.

Shades of last season IMO against West Brom. Mori still settling but a lot of wasted balls and limited ideas against a W Brom solid line.
I am happy about the win and coming from 2 nil behind but there is still a slow build up at times.

Just got back from the match, thought I'd do some ratings quickly.

Howard-6.5-Not really tested.

Browning-6.5-But at fault for the first goal but bar that I thought he did quite well, still missing Colemans runs down that side.

Jagielka-7-Looked lost for the 2nd goal but it wasn't his man to be fair, solid regardless.

Funes Mori-7-Lost it for the first goal but without Stones we lacked someone to bring it out, he tried but he is no John Stones. Was still good despite it being his first game, looks confident with both feet which is nice for a left sided Centre Back after Distin preferring to head the ball when it is 2 inches off the ground than use his right foot.

Galloway-8.5-This kid is special, one of the best winners of the ball I've seen at Everton. To think he is only 19 as well, been the best Left Back in England this season imo.

McCarthy-6.5-Embarrassing dive, I thought Phil Neville's was bad but Jesus Christ. Still, worked his socks off as usual.

Barry-7-For the first goal looked dodgy too but as usual this season, was calm as ever. Boss.

Naismith-6-I actually thought he was very poor and lost a lot of headers to Yacob whoch is odd, he can outjump Kompany and Mertesacker but not Claudio Yacob.

Barkley-6.5-That chance first half, I have no idea how he missed it, shielded it well and held it up when needed.

Deulofeu-9-His crosses are something else, the pace and placement on them is brilliant, not bad eh AB1878.

Lukaku-7.5-First half I was so annoyed with him, second half it was a whole different story, turned the game with his goals and assist, his hold up play improved. Found out only Suarez, Van Persie and Aguero have more goals since the start of 13-14 season, excellent considering the bad run he has been on.

Gibson-6.5-Wait a minute, he played Football? Oh right, that's a change, as usual he is boss on those rare occasions he plays. Keeps the ball so well and changes the pace of games when he wants.

Kone-7-My goldenhead Ivorian prince, great finish, looked dead strong when he came on, knocking players out the way and holding it up.

Lennon-6-Hello mate.

Horrible first half, brilliant second half, last season or under Moyes we would of went on to lose 4-0. Great spirit and passion from the players, let's smash that horrible lot in the Derby now!.

COYB!!

Browning wasn't really at fault for the 1st goal Barry lost the ball and the pass was played into the path of Berahino Browning tried to match his run and almost made the tackle I would give him 7. Apart from that and Del boy who was an 8 for me I pretty much agree with you Swan.

I agree with sa90 think Barry was more at fault for first goal. Total miss kick. Del boy was good but I also agree with sa90 an 8, not that it was his fault but he didn't get on the ball enough. Great cross for goal alright. McCarthy 6.5? You always seem to give him a low score Swan. I'm not getting at ya, that's fine. I just think he does an awful lot of ungrateful work that doesn't get noticed. In a way a kind of Roy Keane for me. Apart from dive rarely puts a foot wrong.

Pretty much agree with everything else you said Swan, good assessment of the game. P.S. With every game I'm liking Galloway more, absolute gem.

Barry's fault for the goal. Totally and utterly agree with you Swan over Galloway. This kid is really something special. I would even put him above Stones in terms of potential.

His vision to first track his own player but then sniff out the other player AHEAD of him AND make that inch perfect last ditch tackle was the best bit of defending and best tackle I've seen in years. He was superb and for me the man of the match. He has been a few times this season.

Barkley had an off day for me as well but you can't complain about this season because he's been superb.

El Del is one gem of a player. Some questioned why we got him but this guy is a £20mil+ player and we got him for peanuts. He already has the same amount of assists and goals as our second highest contributing winger from last year, Aiden McGeady(I know), with 1 goal and 4 assists! Imagine where this lad is going to be in 4/5 years time and then imagine, if we keep these players, where this team is going to be!

Absolutely, frightening to think and we must have one of the most exciting young teams in the EPL. Stones, Galloway, Browning, Barkley, Lukaku, El Del, Mori, McCarthy, Besic and then the lads that are on the fringe like Henan, Rodriguez, etc. It's time to get excited people.
