Mate of my old man has just been talking to Snods in town who says Martinez is a done deal

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Managers and clubs always deny talks when either the manager doesn't get the job or he is offered it but turns it down. So Rangnich is out. Almost certainly be Martinez now

For me Martinez is the right man for the job with Stubbs as his assistant.
Get him signed up Kenwright ffs!
Martinez will get the best out of us and we'll get the best out of Martinez imo!

Now Jordi Gomez has been linked with us if Martinez signs. that's Gomez, Alcaraz, Kone, McCarthy, McManaman and Maloney he's supposedly bringing. Am I the only one a bit worried that we're just going to turn into a previously relegated team, with a worse badge?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He might bring one or two of the Wigan lads if he does come in but I can't see past that tbh.

Another clueless person who thinks he speaks for all evertonians a lot of everton fans want martinez I am one of them so shut up if martinez is appointed get behind him instead of being negative not every living breathing everton fan wants pereira grow up mate {Ed025's Note - im in that boat skittle mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that BK meant that he would take into consideration some of the names put forward by fans. You never know, Pereira might have come across badly in the interview or he may have the job we will have to wait and see. Hopefully tomorrow BK will announce the new man.

Agree0 Disagree0

Speak for yourself you might be in the Pereira camp but i'm not.

Mike don't be a dic k, billy liar, have you ever met the man i?, I have the nicest sincere person I have ever met.

Agree0 Disagree0

And who's to say Bill offered VP the job, but he turned it down? Not everything is Bill's fault! Blue Andy

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously Toffeemike is a knowledgeable bloke who speaks for us All? Yeah Right! When are these people going to realise that Bill Kenwright is and always will be a very dedicated, honest and loyal man to Everton FC. a man who mortgaged his own house, and gets physically sick at the thought that He may be upsetting Everton Fans. Try doing his job mate seeing as you know all the answers! If the job is given to Martinez, who may not be your choice, then get behind the man with the rest of us and help him to make it work. who knows, Martinez could turn out to be the next Alex Ferguson given the chance and the time. and the support. Every Evertonian has his own idea about who should follow Moyes. how the hell does Kenwright know the answer to that??

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2013 09:16:24
mike you are entitled to your opinion but what you said isn't opinion mate it was plain wrong as I said not everyone wants pereira some people want martinez and that is their opinion and as you said we are all entitled to it

Agree0 Disagree0

BlueSkittle everyone has an opinion on what manager they want, but the majority did want Pereira mate that's a fact and I'm just having a little rant why Bill hasn't listened to the fans. I will back Martinez all the way but he wasn't my preferred choice. {Ed025's Note - where did you get that the majority wanted pereira from mike?...its been 50/50 on here..

Agree0 Disagree0

Other forums ed, seen loads of polls with Pereira winning all of them mate.

I reckon Martinez' expansive attacking football combined with Everton's traditional defensive virtues could be an exciting prospect. To those who favour an overseas coach inexperienced in the ways of the PL, may I remind you of Jacques Santini, Juande Ramos and (the man who proves that Alan Sugar is useless at picking 'apprentices') Christian Gross (not to mention AVB's unhappy time at Chelsea). Whatever happens, I agree that BK has managed this process in a mature way and he is to be commended for it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For every Santini, Gross, Ramos there is a Mourinho, Wenger, Benitez etc etc.
Whoever we appoint there will be a risk. I'd rather we took a punt on Pereira rather than Martinez.
But, at the end of the day, if the overwhelming majority feel/think/say 'it could have been worse', then I think we've had a result

I see the new merchandise is for sale on the EFC site featuring the 'temporary badge'. I'd love to know how much (or little) they sell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Should sell well as the badge will become a collectors item. It could have been worse. I remember when they dropped the badge, and just stuck EFC on the shirt. Mind you we had a bloody good team then so no one really complained.

Just read on 1 of the everton websites which says Kenwright was blown away by what Rangnick had to say about his ideas for taking the club forward. He said if he is given the job he will appoint an Everton legend as his no. 2 to groom him for the job in years to come. Personally I like the sound of that. At least he has clubs interests at heart when he leaves the job

It really is fantastic to have all those posters telling us - "100%" and "Fact" - who's to be appointed. I hadn't appreciated just how many posters must have personally met the candidates, had in-depth discussions with them, talked about the club's finances, negotiated with lawyers about contracts, and then been told of the finalised deal by BK or others at the club. It must be wonderful to have such an inside track and to know you're the only one telling the truth ;-)
Cynical - moi?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The only person who knows '100%' is BK

Hi ed is it just me or am I wrong in thinking fellis staying at efc means the players are told who might be coming in as boss and of maybe major investment or even no bids for him yet or baines saying things about martinez should be taken with a pinch of salt whatever we will know soon thanks coyb {Ed025's Note - nothing i have heard suggests that al, i hope felli stays though, selling your best players sends out the wrong message mate..

Is it just me who has doubts about these managers mentioned, or am I missing something. I have looked at the track record of all three, and I wouldn't say any are outstanding. Or are we just getting a little carried away with this obsession for a foreign coach.
Maybe I'm wrong, time will tell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What was moyes track record like before he took over. Not as good as VP's or Ralph's.

Agree0 Disagree0

Two old it as most of have said I will back whoever comes. at least give the benefit of the doubt. As many have pointed out moyes was managing a pretty average Preston, despite getting them to the playoffs. I think twice was nt it? That aside any new manager will be a risk. what would interest me most is the type of discussion they had with BK about their vision for the club, investment requirements, strategy for youth development, retention of 'star players'. etc and how receptive BK was to this. and where it fits in with our expectations (deluded or not) as fans. only time will tell as to whether or not the right decision has been made. I reckon Bk needs and is looking for a 'long term' successor, as he would want to achieve club stability again, and probably would loathe the idea of having to pay compo due to the release of said manager, should they not perform. In short BK has done the right thing. he has evaluated all options and hopefully the pros and cons of each option. whilst keeping an eye on the bigger picture. the development and success of Efc. jlaff.

Agree0 Disagree0

And your point is?

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember we are supposed to be looking for someone to take us forward. This does not mean spending another 11 years trophy less.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you expect?. No money, ageing squad, and fans expecting too much. Whoever takes the job is on a hiding to nothing i'm afraid.

Everton need investment if they want to challenge for Europe, simple as that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry two old guess I got on the soap box and rambled. think the point I wanted to make was that I agreed with you. many getting carried away about having a foreign influence as if it was the key to success. as if adding an "ez" or an "io" to the end of a name was a guarantee. and it ain't. BK will/ should make his decision on all of the issues noted above. and not whether the mans name is John smith or Pedro el santo de piero-mergerito. dunno if my points clear but after 8 hrs of painting the forum jut presents a little respite. Jlaff

The future always remains unknown, so all you can go on is the resent past. So, would you go for a manager who has spent the past 4 seasons fighting relegation, or a man who has just won back to back championships?

I for one will be happy if king Ralph gets the job. At the moment it swings in round abouts and everyone is going ga ga for German football. It used to be the Italians then us, the Spanish and now German. I would be happy with either Martinez Vp or king Ralph. What is a must is one of weir Stubbs or dunc as a number 2. I think fizza will go to utd.

The manager situation is starting to become monotonous. I appreciate why BK is taking his time, he has to get it right and IMO, his process of narrowing down a short list of potential candidates is spot on. Unfortunately as fans we want to know now, patience is not a virtue.

It looks like it'll be either RM, VP or RR. (Possibly a combination if some posts are to be believed). A case could be made for and against the appointment of each of these guys, so I don't expect everyone's going to be happy whoever gets the job, and I'm sure there will be some heated debates over the coming weeks. As long as we all get behind the new manager at the start of the season, that's fine.

I'm just looking forward to the official announcement being made so we can get on with our lives. I also miss being entertained by some of the ludicrous transfer rumours we've all been missing, where is Riquelme these days anyway?

Anyway, I'm sure we'll all be put out of our misery within the next couple of days, then the rumours can start as to how were connect to every Spanish, Portuguese or German player available. I can't wait.

Personally, I'm happy if any of the above are to be are next manager, and with the right support from the board (and the fans) hopefully they can take our great club forward.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

My sentiments exactly martin. Seems its defo anyone of the three names mentioned. Whoever it is won't be everyones cup of tea, bit like when moyes was appointed, how many fans had heard of him? and he won the support of most on his first day with the peoples club quote, and in the main he was given our support from day one. Which we have got to do with the new manager, wether its RM, VP or RR

Agree0 Disagree0

You want to go forward, you better find a big stash of cash, without it were going nowhere.

Just a bit of financial stuff, I think Elstone has done a good job. Since the premier league began we have spent a net 15 mil (less than Liverpool spent in last season alone) but he has been saving money to pull some together for a sizeable war chest instead of letting us spend a bit each season. (Like Villa have done, and look at them now) so basically in the next few seasons I think we can expect a few big names, and I wouldn't be surprised if its this season given the manager situation.

I'm very concerned by the possibility of Rangnick getting the job. I'm looking for long term stability, knowledge of the premier league and European pedigree.

Rangnick has had 13 different clubs, he very rarely stays more than 3 years and he once agreed to manage another club the following season while still employed which enraged the clubs fans.

Most of his success has been in taking clubs out of the second tier into the Bundesliga. His much vaunted Champions League quarter final was with a team put together by Felix Magath where Rangnick had only been there a matter of weeks.

He has secured a few top 4 finishes with his teams but he doesn't seem to have the perseverance to push them on to greater things. He also suffers from Exhaustion Syndrome which is a neurological disorder that can last for years.
I really worry that Bill will be enticed by this vision of creating a legacy and of Rangnick bringing through the next manager.

I want an able top class manager to take the club to the top, win competitions and get into the Champions League and I don't think Rangnick is the man.

HOWEVER, if he is chosen he WILL get my support and I will be more than happy to be proven wrong. That's my Tuppence worth.

Popeye

I agree mate, I don't want Rangnick anywhere near the club. I still think that it will be Martinez though.
