Mirror saying Koeman is now our new boss.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

02 Jun 2016 22:16:53
. the rumours today of Koemans agent making his way up to Liverpool were wide of the mark - he actually met with Farhad Moshiri at his base in Monaco (some are saying Kenright was there too) and a deal has been agreed in principle and it's now for Everton to ask Southampton officially for permission to talk to Koeman and get the particulars sorted and signed. Mr Moshiri is happy to pay the compensation figure as Koeman is the man he wants and his no 1 choice. expect an official announcement in the next few days to confirm Ronald Koeman as next Everton manager. It depends on Southampton though soli. if they don't give the go ahead then we are stumped. hope what you said is true but it must be given the green light by the saints.

02 Jun 2016 23:47:22
Never in the history of football has a manager been forced to stay against his will.
If reports are true then we got him!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 05:17:47
But they have been put on gardening leave for the remainder of their contract. I could be mistaken but didn't this happen to Pardew. I may be wrong.

But then Southampton aren't the dogged type as they have shown. They will let go for top dollar, something Farhad Moshiri has plenty of.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 08:07:33
Nail on the head Ace, if Mr Moshiri wants him then he will get him, money talks and as crap as that is its the way it is, in the past it has worked against us but now its in our favour for once.

This time 3 years ago loads on here we're exstatic at Martinez appointment.
I went to the pub and cried into my beer.
This time?
The last thing this club needs is an exciting, untried European manager. What we do need is somebody to sort out the shambles that Martinez left us with and has Prem League experience.
I hope and pray that tonight's rumours are true, Koeman with money will have me buying the beer!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 22:56:21
If your buying mushy, which pub you in lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 23:16:01
I was never happy with the Martinez appoinment and did not applaud him when he came on the pitch at his first game. I have moaned for three years hope I can applaud Koaman at the first game and be happy watching my team again.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 07:03:09
Mushy many did that is true but many many more (at the time the silent majority, I was one, look at us now) , were far more realistic. I have many mates who are Wigan supporters so I had the full SP on Martinez, then and now. I can tell you I dreaded it, it gives no pleasure to know I/ we have been proved correct. That was the past however, so with Mr Moshri (who on the surface at least appears to be a genuine football man) ever onwards and upwards.

We all moan at players moving clubs for money, now it looks like managers are following suit. can't win really we moan money grabbers and we moan because de Boer is pleading for the job. just get it done who ever it is, do want the job YES or No.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 20:37:16
I hope not.
15 years ago Everton were considered under achievers and let's be frank we still are. And because of it we couldn't attract any big managerial names. Hence Moyes and Martinez. Now we have Moshiri and therfore we are pushing for the best. Monchi, Pellegrini, Emery and koeman.
Southampton have Koeman, so are they a bigger club than Everton and therfore can attract the big names? So either Southampton are that great and Koeman took a pay cut to become their manager for 2.5 mill a year as all the great managers I see are on 7 plus million a year.
Or is the fact Southampton were in the same boat, some would say worse off and could only get what was available, and once again I repeat has had 2 better than average seasons. I don't see why people are getting super excited over someone who is better than average.

It baffled me how farhad has all these billions going for the best sporting director and settles for an average coach. If we get koeman then Monchi will tell us too funk off. Monchi is the best and will only work with the best so he don't look a complete runt😀. It's a risk coming to us and with koeman at the coaching reins it's a bigger one still. Monchi isn't coming if koeman is. Think about it.

I kind of agree yano mate what has koeman actually done to prove he's the best man? I do like him and I do want him but I can c your argument.

We'll see I guess.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 23:00:25
It's his set up. he's had 2 seasons now and had to basically rebuild when he joined because his saints side got ripped apart. he's bettered there points total in past two seasons supposedly and gets his team playing. i saw his side rip man city apart live on TV. they play some good football, know how to defend and instead of side to side passing, actually pass it forward and quickly. so yeah he's a choice.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 23:04:07
Also you say monchi only works with the best. well mate, not winning a single away game does not make for great reading.3 euro wins off the trot is fine but we reached two domestic semis and to be fair should of been in both finals, yet we called for our gaffer's head. koeman, if interested in the job, would be my choice over emery.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 23:09:00
Koeman has done incredible job, the Southampton board sell his best players every year and with fairly limited resources he improves year on year. I am pretty sure he will do well with EFC so Mowfee we will see. Koemans teams play nice go forward football and his defence is always one of the best in the league.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2016 01:52:35
I seem to remember Koeman being interviewed a third of the way through the season, Southampton were going through a bad spell and he admitted at the time they were in a relegation fight! After then they picked up . have we all short memories, at the time he would have cost very little . too lazy to check the tables but 99.9 % sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 20:10:21
Just to get off of the constant manager talk. Read before that we have sold 31000 season tickets so far. 8 out of 10 seats has been sold. personally I find that incredible.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 21:04:50
That season ticket figure would reflect the general optimism amongst Evertonians since Farhad bought into the club. For once we are linked with top managers and top players, although we all appreciate the 60 grand bargains. A new stadium could finally become a reality too.

I am old enough to have appreciated and experienced the success we have had in the last century but I am still hungry for more. What I'd love more than anything is for the the likes of my lad, grandson and the other younger supporters to taste some success as well.

Everton is a great club. It dominates your life. There's a fascinating summer ahead for us with a lot of promising young talent to to as well as some big name moves to look forward to. Forget the Euros this is what matters.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 21:37:15
Completely agree there. Think all but the most negative blues are genuinely optimistic going forward. Moshiri, we all help will get us back where we deserve.

02 Jun 2016 19:46:42
Really hope the rumour of Koeman coming to us comes to fruition, he is without doubt the best man for the job, good to watch and knows how to defend. He also knows the premier league and even tough the board sold his best players Koeman still gets them into Europe twice so no fluke like Roberto's first reason was a fluke. Think he will lose Mane and Wynyama in the summer if he was to stay with the saints, We know they sell there best players every year. He should make a move for Mane, Bertrand and Long. Other players I would like to see us go for Ajax GK Cillesnan (spelling) , Bolasie, Janssen, and Engels. COYB get it done. Hopefully Monchi to follow.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 18:27:34
Not sure how much I believe this guy from Holland. One twitter message comes out just because Koeman has come back off his jollies.

I think we're probably getting closer to getting someone but it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone else.

Wouldn't mind Ron though. He seems ambitious and that's exactly the type of manager we want.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 19:47:19
I cannot see Southampton giving us permission to talk to Koeman unless he himself asks them. I would hazard a guess and say this yet again is Twitterama. It will be Pellegrini.

various dutch outlets claiming that koemans agent is on his way to liverpool to clinch koeman deal. if so its another well done to nsno who reported weeks ago that koeman will be joining everton. as always they laid their cards on the table and said it like it is they even said when martinez was going b4 anyone else and they were right which is why i will bleave them over anyone else when they report something. of course i could have egg on my face if it all falls flat but its looking pretty good now.

02 Jun 2016 14:38:46
I find it funny how Southampton fans think they are a bigger club than Everton just because they have finished above us for the last 2 seasons pipe down lads first he won't have to sell anyone 2nd he has a massive warchest the biggest question is how will he cope with pressure of having to win something within 3 years at Goodison as he is under little pressure at Southampton.

02 Jun 2016 18:02:06
agreed. ye got to laugh though how deluded are them saints fans.

There's an article in the echo online regarding FM's stake in the club. Apparently, he has already agreed a price on shares that, at some stage, will see him control 76% of the club. No time line on acquiring the extra shares I don't think but an interesting prospect all the same.

Jamie Carragher saying that FDBs style of play is very similar to Martinez and that he's not the right man for Everton. on that analysis I would def. agree!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Jun 2016 13:24:36
martinez's style of play wasn't the issue. The issue was that he never rectified the defensive frailties of the team. We scored plenty of goals but always looked vulnerable.

De Boar is quite different and not the same as Martinez in play as he likes a tight ship before the expansive football.

As for quoting a Carragher comment. The guy is a muppet and he's probably seen a handful of games that he's managed. What I've read up on De Boar is all from people in the dutch game and he gets a lot of praise from most especially on how solid his teams are. That is a mile away from Martinez.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 17:34:30
Suppose so, just like Lallana and Lovren were never going to Liverpool. Money talks mate and if the rumours of a £6m salary are true then why wouldn't he leave? Be realistic in your criticism if you are going to post on our page. Remember we have always been a premier league side, we already have a strong squad and a good group of youngsters. There is no sell to buy policy with us and we will have a new stadium very soon. There is a chance to build something great at Everton so why do we have no chance? And if he doesn't join us well he will inevitably leave saints to possibly go to Arsenal.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 09:04:12
De Boer good - won the Dutch Premier consistently - bad, no idea how he would fair in the English Premier. Koeman good - appears to do well on a budget - bad what has he won in the English Premiership. Pellegrini - Good, consistent in the English Premiership, Champions, Champions League consistently, bad - there is none but doubt in his strength in the dressing room (conjecture) . Opinion, go for what we know and that is Pellegrini.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

02 Jun 2016 09:14:25
Pellegrini bad - antwacky, stated he will retire if not offered a decent job, that says to me he cannot be arsed and has no drive, never seen any passion on the line from him but that means nothing nowadays

De Boer never won the league last 2 years, bit like Celtic not winning the Scots Prem for 2 years so bit of a worry for me

Koeman, rebuilt not 1 but 2 teams after being ransacked for players by other teams, could be unbelievable with £££££££, could be garbage

Emery - my current favourite but changes constantly, fans saying he isn't that good in the league, he has hardly any cash to spend and gets to finals of cups consistently winning most, we all know cup runs affect league games/ positions if you have a small team, imagine what he could do with Mr Moshiri backing him

If any of the above come they get my full backing but Id prefer the Sevilla duo (Emery and Monchi) Billscroc.

Agree4 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 09:57:39
RK would be my current favorite due to his PL knowledge in this respect all the others might be a shot in the dark?

FDB keeps shtum and his twin spouts off??

The Emery and Monchi combo does look tantalising though doesn't it? :)

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 09:57:47
Fair enough. Still prefer Pellegrini but I do understand the commitment statement, I just tend to believe it was more a come and get me.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 10:11:47
I'm with you BCT. Pellegrinis record stands up. He made a decent striker out of Diego Forlan which Furguson couldn't do tbf. His Villareal side tore us a new one despite refgate.

I'd be happy with him. But if it meant taking a risk then it'll be the Sevilla duo.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 10:16:57
Sorry BCT , I fogot my bit on MP, he does come across as a bit of 'journeyman' sipping the last of the summer wine mate!

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jun 2016 10:59:51
i did koeman apparently he destroyed Valencia side which emery had to rebuild.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 11:30:16
I'd be happy with either MP or the two from Seville. I wouldn't make too much of him mentioning retirement, he must have been asked about his future options. As someone else pointed out, it was probably more of a come and get me statement. He did say something about wanting a decent project too.
There are misgivings with Emery from some quarters about how he performs in the league. I would take him as long as he comes with Monchi, the latter has done a great job in the transfer market for many years, if reports are true.
FDB is totally untested and some suggest he is too similar to our last manager. Dutch league isn't the best, didn't McClaren win it once?
Koeman is a good manager but I don't think he will be with us for the long haul. If Arsenal or Barcelona came sniffing around he would be off like a shot.
Saying all that, appointing any manager is a gamble, regardless of where they are from. They can have experience in the premier league but still fail. Hopefully we will find out who it is very soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2016 09:03:04
