this transfer window must have made a big impact on our debt. combine the recent sales of arteta, yak, beckford along with vaughan and peinaar. the wages each of them where on not to mention sky sports money. we must be almost clear. now! close you eyes and imagine you just became a billionaire over night. would you buy yourself a large toy, like, say a football club, which needs half your money just to keep it going or would you buy a club you can put money into to make it successful in a short time with that same money you would have to use to make the other club simply stay afloat. surely we are now a more handsome club to invest in??

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The club was 45m in the red and lossing 5m a year player sales raised 15m sky money etc goes to the running costs. After agent fees, players cuts etc. The club will have cleared about £12m off the debt. If I was a billionaire?

Would I pay to buy a club? Clear it's debts, invest a good chunk in new Players and a huge amount in developing the ground/building a new 1 or buy a club like Leeds were 40m on players would be more than enough to get them into the prem in a city with no rivals?

I personally would buy Everton. But only Everton fans would. The others would go for a team with a decent ground. Hence city owners buying them rather than the shower across the park.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are doing the same as newcastle reducing the wages to get the club on a more even keel. the youngsters are not on big money and can be develpoed. im sure in january we will look to make a couple of shrewd signings but within a wage structure that doesnt put the clubs status under pressure.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we can sell players and reduce wage and still get a top half finish this year i think surely some one will be interested in investing, i think the key to a invester would be that moyes was still in charge, so hopefully he stays after this season

If the loan players work out well, do we have an option to buy ?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yes drenthe would be on a free, i don't know denis contract situation, but i would like to think if they create a good impression we could sign them both.

Agree0 Disagree0

Drenthe can be purchased on a free I believe, unsure on Denis. {Ed025's Note - one good thing..if they are not up to much...we can give them back ps, i bet the reds wish they had andy carroll on loan..

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a smart piece of business from Moyes, get Madrid to pay some of his wages as he's on loan and if he impresses Moyes can just buy him for nothing. {Ed025's Note - that is good dealing..

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not sayin that were going to be worldbeaters this year, but just think I'm pretty sure the debt will've been cleared for one reason most likely were about to be bought or that next summer we are going to but big were evertonians we've seen the good and bad :) were gonna get regelated listen to yourselfs were 2 matches in with 3 points carry on that way we will have 57 points it's goona be a great season roll on next year :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will probably be steady this season again. I can see us getting 7th again, but that is not good enough for us blues, we want to see the club progressing and challenging for trophies. I must admit i like the sound of the new signings,i would like to see us recruit another striker in January {Ed025's Note - your right mate..we should be challenging for trophies..but we wont while this lot are running the show!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Are u from this planet? Cleared 15m off the 45m because the bank forced kenwright due to the fact were losing 5m a year. But yer your right reduced the debt because were be bought. Obviously by a new owner that wanted a weaker squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Selling yak becks and mikky will save us 7 mill a year on wages so we shouldnt be running at a loss now... lets hope that makes us a more attractive prospect to any buyers out there

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Sep 2011 19:26:12
{GMc} How many millions did we get for finishing 7th, was it £10 mill. We got £17 mill Sky money, sold players worth £25 mill since Jan. We have an average of 22 thousand season ticket holders. So how do 19 teams, most of whom don't have half the supporters or history we do can out spend us. Most have more debt also, something is not right and our club is rotten to the core. {Ed025's Note - good point mate....there are certainly questions to be answered...

Looks like a deal is on the mist with Arteta gone( best of look to him), Drenthe is on loan and Stracqualursi, come on moyes'ey, (should be around 5 mil for them both, which leaves 5 mil) PUT IN A BID FOR BOTH OF THEM!! Plus, we could do with getting Schmeichel as cover for Howard, and maybe even attempt to get that Bojan lad from Barca, looks like talent there. COYB

Madtoffee97

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Bojan has signed with Roma until 2013 and drenthe is on loan with a view to sign on a free

What do you think of the two new players ed? I am fairly optimistic they can do a good job for us. {Ed025's Note - im reserving my judgement...heard good and bad points about the pair of them....but i will have to see them for myself, before i can give an honest assessment...but like you, i am optimistic..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Drenthe sounds like the player we have been looking for to give us pace and width and the striker sounds very handy as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Barkley, Drenthe, fellaini and osman in midfield sounds a good idea and slot coleman in when hes fit

Agree0 Disagree0

-Toffeeboy-
Dont know about the Argie but Drenthe is supposed to be quality but has a bad attitude which could be a problem with Moyes

Hopefully just Yobo to go now, unless we get any whopping bids for Heitinga or Billy. That'd be a huge 11m shaved off the wage bill. At least with Arteta's 75k off the wage bill, that automatically brings down the amount that other greedy b**tards at the club will think they're entitled to be matching. {Ed025's Note - you forgot about victor....

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree ed, i don't think victor has a future at goodison, he would be better off dropping down to the championship {Ed025's Note - your right..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yobo and vic to hopefully be offloaded in january with a new striker being brought in. {Ed025's Note - that would work for me..

Agree0 Disagree0

Why doesnt moyes try to loan out vic to a championship club, I think it may do him the world of good
and if he impresses, you never know, they might buy him! {Ed025's Note - once they see him play...they wont..

Agree0 Disagree0

Turkish window still open until 5th so chance yobo can still be sold!

I think its true about moyes getting some of the arteta money. Just dont think Moyes would have agreed to the sale if he hadnt been assured of funds to spend in January. I still believe he says who goes or who stays. {Ed025's Note - im not so sure...on either point..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

-Toffeeboy-

Just watching SSN and Arteta said that he was allowed to leave and it was Moyes who made the decision so I believe Moyes still has control of who stays and who ***** off

I'm stoked about our new signings. My plan for the Villa game would be:
-----------------Howard-------------------

Hibbert--Disitin--Jags--Baines

Barkley----Fellaini----Osman----Drenthe

Denis-----Vellios

Subs: Mucha, Cahill, Coleman, Nev, Saha, Johnny, Rodwell

Plan: Formation is attacking and very cross related with very tall strikers. We have a full on go at them in the first half with hopefull Denis scoring his first to build his confidence.
Once ahead and playing well i would bring on Cahill for Vellios, switch to 4-5-1. Denis can hold is own and Cahill's terrier approach would be a breathe of fresh air.
Second sub would be Coleman for Barkley, not too late not too early, we can't rush Coleman and can't exhaust Barkley. that would mean fresh pace and creativity down the right.
Third sub needs to be Saha (although i would like to bring on Nev for Hibbert, my reason for putting Hibbert ahead is to show Nev that he needs to step up, he's been very poor)
Means Denis gets a break and Saha gets game time. if you think this is too risky we could always start with Denis and Saha then bring on Vellios

Steve EFC (Twitter: @SteveBiggert)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It will be great to go with an attacking formation and 4-4-2 with denis and velios up front. We need to try something different to spring the team into life {Ed025's Note - i agree mate...we just need to convince david!..

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see saha not starting if he is fit {Ed025's Note - saha and denis to start for me..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he willplay hibbert and vic upfront {Ed025's Note - i hope not..

Agree0 Disagree0

Although I am a Moyes fan I can see us starting 4-5-1 which is negative and not starting any new signings. The team i think Moyes will pick:
Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines
Barkley Fellaini Cahill Heitinga Osman
Saha

Agree0 Disagree0

Hibberts probably better than vic up front

Anyone heard anything about our 3 new sponsors crabbies, big coke and best buy! What money if any are they worth to the club? I know we renewed our sponsorship with chang which is worth around 4 million but dont know about the others? Any insight people?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It all brings in more money as well as getting two high earners off the wage bill in arteta and yak that have both not played well for us for some time. There is also a strong suggestion that moyes will get a significant amount of the arteta money to bring in a striker in January. COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

The club will always be seeking ways of getting more revenue in and hopefully looking at ways of sorting out the ground situation {Ed025's Note - i think the new ground is a long way off..

Get off Rodwells back! hes a kid for god sake. the lad has got 15 years of football ahead. Confidence is obviously low lets get behind the boys! gooodisons atmosphere is getting worse by the day. Id love to see the place all fired up and aggressive each game, and thats what we need to lift the team. its crazy how much fan power can lift a team but nobody seems to realise that.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

We need to create a bear pit atmosphere like there was against city last season. There is no better ground than goodison when the place is rocking, but the players have to go out on the pitch and perform to ignite the crowd.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodders will come good after a run of matches, he has a great talent and this could be his season

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree about the atmosphere on match day. The lads need the fans more than ever. The old lady rocks better than any other ground in the premier league. I for one cant wait for nxt saturday against villa! COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

Two winnable home games to come, i can see us coming in the top half if we don't get too many injuries

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodwell wud be a topclass centre half {Ed025's Note - we should play him there...because at the moment...hes not up to midfield..

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm still reasonably confident about this season. Moysie has proved time and time again that he works better with a smaller squad and if no-one expects anything of us as a team. I think that the two players that we have brought in look like exciting prospects, especially Drenthe who is the pacey out an out winger that our team has been screaming out for. Lets just hope that Denis is on the end of every cross that Bainsey,Seamus and Drenthe will be sending him! Keep the faith in our beloved team! IMWT

Believable4 Unbelievable0

I couldn't agree more, we have a group of very talented players and one of the best managers in the premiership. Top 7 is a realistic target {Ed025's Note - i would still like him to play 4-4-2 though..

Agree0 Disagree0

4-4-2 is what we need, we have quality players that would benefit from a more attacking formation {Ed025's Note - your right there pal..

Worst possible outcome to the transfer window we wer short creativity with Arteta we'll be a hundred times worse now. We'll struggle to stay up............ Where are the goals going to come from.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Where, were the goals comin from anyway? We've now got a new striker in Denis and a new pacey and creative out and out winger in Drenthe. Losing Arteta and Beckford isnt the end of the world! We already have players in Barkley, Coleman, Baines, Ossie and now Drenthe who can fill the creative void left by Mikel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta has been woeful for a while now, we have players who can take over the creative roll (not like arteta has been that creative recently) osman, barkley even bily! Struggle to stay up!? Dont talk wet!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, last 18 months he hasnt been great and we are overloaded in centre mid, we can fill the gap no prob

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta has not been creating anything for a while anyway - his departure means that others may now step up into that role - fingers crossed

Agree0 Disagree0

I think 7th again is a realistic position. Arteta has not made an impact for a while and the likes of barkley and drenthe will make a real impression this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta scores one penalty and suddenly he was our source of goals? Get real. I'm optimistic about our signings and Moyes has cut the debt in half in the space of a year. Good things ahead.

Will Moyes walk?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Why would he? Probably got the least amount of pressure out of all of the prem managers, got a good squad and looking forward to spending his Arteta money in Jan. Just with MA gone, it's not the end of the world..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are disillusioned if they really think we will be spending the Arteta money. Why cant you understand that the bank have already swallowed up monies raised by sales of Arteta,Yak,Beckford,Pienner and Vaughn?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its better for us if the bank do take the money now, with the overdaft no longer maxed out and a lower wage bill we'll be in a better postion to lend money in Jan.

good luck to MA and JB for the future however life goes on. Plus side we kept jags baines and fellini.

Can't understand why we're not looking at free agents, there are some quality players out there who are unattached e.g. Vicente. I think he would be a good addition to a small squad. What you think ed? {Ed001's Note - a lot depends on wage demands for one, for two Vicente has suffered a lot of injuries and would be competing with Drenthe for the left wing position. Is an injury prone left winger really needed?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Vicente plays for brighton

Agree0 Disagree0

Hasn't actually signed for them yet.

HI eds guys/gals,Im a liverpool fan
of many years,in the old days we
would watch liverpool one week
and everton the next with no real
problems amongst the fans.my
reason for posting is to ask the
question has their been any serious
buyers in the last couple of years
because everton should be
an attractive proposition,located in a
football city good fan base which
would build with more success,a
wonderful manager who has done
wonders on a shoestring, it just
puzzles me when I look at some of
the other takeovers.I live in the
caribbean and a little out of touch
so please post replies thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Probably the cost of building a new ground and bills asking price are two of the rumours about what is putting off potential buyers. I am sure it will happen though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the fun would be taken out if it. If all clubs we're like Man city it would be boring.. Bet their forum is fun..NOT!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldnt want us to be like city, ideal scenario is moyes gets enough money to buy who he wants say 30 milion we dont need that many new faces! Then he is given 10/15 milion as and when is needed each summer to freshens things up. Keeping our main players together with decent additions the glory days wil return!

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton fans maybe need to find some local business man/women who would be willing to put into a take over. Fans need to voice there discontent at the current board.

I am not a fan, united fan but do live in liverpool at the moment. Its a fantastic city. Everton are an attractive club, good fan base and good community base too.

Maybe Bill is asking alot, but there are ways out,

Agree0 Disagree0

As pointed out the investment in the ground is a massive issue however it's worth pointing out, the north west is sparcly populated. A lot of the big towns have there own club and we are surrounded by the sea Liverpool man city and man utd. That not really an exciting prospect for investors.

It will be interesting to see who starts up front against villa. Hopefully we will go 4-4-2 with the new lad next to saha if hes fit. Hopefully we will have coleman back for the game as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Billy Up front...

Agree0 Disagree0

We definitely need to try something different against villa. I hope we start with the 2 signings and give billy a chance in a more central role

Rodwell reminds me of John Ebbrell - the crab - always goes sideways. Get shut of him ifwe can and get someone decent. Sturridge would do me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Once rodders gets a run of games under his belt, he will show his class. I think moyes might see him as a potential centre back later in his career

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully rodwell will get more of a chance this season. The problem he has is that he plays a similar role to fellaini and i think fellaini is the better player and moyes number one pick for that position

Agree0 Disagree0

I think once rodwell is put in a position that he knows he will come good, moyes has played him behind the striker, on the right wing, defensive mid. Once he settles in a position he will be a key player for us
