Its been a good window in who we've got in n out (loan and sale) . The squad is reasonably strong all round with extra youth to come aswell. The Keeper situation is healthy in the 2 are pushing each other to be No 1which can't be bad. However i'm concerned about 1 area n that's Striker. i'm not Rom's biggest fans but thankful of his goals but if he is injured, well i don't know who? RK says he's happy with Valencia as cover, i'm really not convinced but it looks like that's what's going to happen. Hope there is a last day bid for a Striker, but with it having to be quality i doubt it now.

Dont forget Mirallas can play up front and Lookman is sharp and Calvert Lewis (when fit again) and Kone if we don't sell. I agree that Lukaku bags the goals in. but witha different typeof center forward, other plyers would be banging them in. In recent games, other players have been scoring again. Particularly the full backs and defenders.

30 Jan 2017 22:15:11
Hear what you say, but i don't see Kev up front on his own (RK Formation at the mo ) nor C Lewis, Lookman out wide n Kone will not get a game. Maybe others in u-23.

They could do a job in case of injury Howie. Then get a striker in summer. I agree with Degsy any of the alternatives would bring more players from the team into scoring.

31 Jan 2017 10:21:25
We could play with 3 attacking front men but without an out and out striker, bit similar to how Liverpool line up. Barkely, Mirallas and a third, maybe Valencia, Lookman or Calvert Lewin.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 20:42:39
I think we may be done now. Need another striker in my opinion, but our u23's are walking the league at the moment by a mile and Koeman says he'd be happy to promote from within until the summer. I trust him I think. He's getting rid of all our rubbish and sorting out our club well atm. Good times being a blue right now

Mirallas would cover but as a coming onto the ball Striker the difference being Koeman has a plan A, B, C and any other you could think of.

With us playing tomorrow night you'd think that any deadline day signings would have to be done early. I think our business is done now. I think Koeman has shifted as much deadwood as he could, there will be more moved on in the summer, Kone, Jags, Lennon spring to mind.
I think we've had a good window. Just hope people are not negative if we don't spring any surprises tomorrow.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - to call jags "dead wood" is very harsh on our club captain svenny..

30 Jan 2017 20:02:04
Glad others believe that ed. Has been a great servant to us and deserves a lot more respect than he gets at times. If he wants to go then fair enough, if not I'd be me than happy for him to stay.

{Ed025's Note - been an outstanding figure in our recent history cropper mate..

30 Jan 2017 20:46:43
I wouldn't class Jags as deadwood either (not sure if the original poster actual meant him in that category) , but I would hope he goes in the summer for the reason he's been a great servant. I think that we will really get our age down and I wouldn't want him to end up on the bench for the rest of his career. He still got something to give someone. Unfortunately for him due to his age, I don't believe he's offering to a team chasing European football.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 20:55:39
He's our Captain. He has the arm band. He has my support and adulation. He's had more captains performances than I've had good days at work. So if now he is not good enough he still brings me to my feet for the times when he was just brilliant, many times at that.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - nice words there ace...kudos mate..

31 Jan 2017 07:28:43
I think Phil Jagielka was one of the most underrated players ever. He has been amazing, incredible signing. Dead wood was reference more to players on significant wages that our manager seems to view as surplus to requirements. Jags has been outstanding for us for a long time. In my opinion 2 or 3 games where he gave away a couple of pens is not really good enough reason to completely disregard him but I'm not Koeman.

Hi Ed with all this transfer movement at Everton we only need Kone to be snapped up and we have a new look team with plenty of youth, its all coming together the R K way and I am loving it, it has been a long time coming, GuernseyBlue

As it's normal to give ex players a round of applause when they return to your ground, may I suggest Sunderland take to the field 30 mins before kick off when they come to Goodison.

If we do no other transfer activity I for one won't be complaining. We have brought in quality and got rid of the deadwood. Yes it would be nice to get another striker, midfielder and defender. But that can wait until summer when better quality options should be available.

If Brian passes his medical and moves to Sunderland. How about a bid for Robertson of Hull. Think we were linked with him once before. Would be good competition for Bainsey.

Shame to see Oviedo go he's not done much wrong, do you think this is the last of the outgoings Ed. still don't think we will sign anyone else with the youngsters we have in the side now. Again hope we get a striker

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer that question. You are not asking about transfers or interest, you are asking me to predict how any negotiations are going and the timings of transfers - I really cannot sensibly do that even if I wanted to.}

30 Jan 2017 16:25:43
Well mad Tuesday is looming and Jim *hite is building us up as usual.

I hope people don't get too caught up in it and start slating everyone at the club if we don't get anyone. It's a bad time to buy and it's difficult to get quality players in January.

I'd also like to wish Bryan and Gibson luck for the future. I felt sorry for Bryan as he was deputy dor the best left back we've jad sonce Andy Hinchcliffe. As for Gibbo he's jad off field problems and injuries that have blighted his career. This is probably his last chance of doing anything in football.

Blues Announce Sure Partnership
Everton Football Club has signed a partnership with Sure, Unilever’s market-leading deodorant brand, making them the Club’s first official antiperspirant partner.
As part of the three-season deal, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will become a brand ambassador for Sure, and will feature prominently in a promotional campaign planned for the second half of this season.
The multi-platform campaign will include analysis of how Everton’s players perform in high pressure moments. Using the hashtag #NeverMoreSure it will demonstrate that the difference between winning and losing is linked to the ability to perform under pressure.
Sure will benefit from range of partnership assets including stadium advertising, digital content, match tickets and hospitality, access to first team players and a range of ‘money can’t buy’ experiences.
Commenting on the new partnership, Claudio Bellen, Senior Brand Manager of Sure UK and Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Everton. We understand both the popularity and the passion associated with football and we think through our #NeverMoreSure campaign [and our partnership with Perform Media] we’ve developed a concept which fans will really respond to. Aside from our social media content which will be providing unique insights into player performance, we will also be running a number of competitions where Everton fans will be able to win tickets and exclusive experiences. There’s a lot to look forward to, so we can’t wait to get underway. ”
Everton Football Club’s Head of Commercial, Alan McTavish, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Sure to our growing partnership portfolio and to build on our recent high profile announcements by introducing a household name brand like Sure. Sure is a brand which values confidence, innovation and a passion for football, and these qualities shine through in the engagement activities they have lined up. Everyone at the Club is looking forward to taking part in what we are certain will be an exciting campaign, and a long and successful relationship with Sure. "

All the talk of Van Dyke and Keane of Burnley. Has no one else noticed the Japanese lad at Southampton. Yoshida. He plays a very quiet game just mopping up things and even creates breaks with incisive passes. All the talk has been on Van Dyke, but the result the other night at Anfield was again without him and Yoshida just played his normal game winning everything at the back. We could do wortst than him. I don't know how good Keane is, but Yoshida is good enough for any team in my view.

30 Jan 2017 13:48:37
Degs he was poor at Goodison and poor all the start of the season that Yoshida. Come good over last few weeks. I heard Le Tiss giving him a hard time at beginning of season and said on sky after the Liverpool game beat he's seen him and hope he keeps it up.

But after seeing him at Goodison he was poor looked small and gave the pen away.

Not for me pal

30 Jan 2017 13:07:45
Im happy with the direction the club is going. This transfer window has already been a good 1 and i think there will still be 1 or 2 new signings coming in.
Slowly but surely we are also getting shot of the fringe players that are not in rks plans making room for either new signings or for promoting some of our talented youngsters.
1 rumour that's got me really excited tho is emelson. I know he's young, but this lad has massive potential and regardless of wether he develops or not signing him would be a real coup.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2017 14:39:16
I'm not sure what you mean by whether he develops or not. Surely for him to be a real coup there is no doubt he will need to develope, or else he wouldn't be a coup but a flop. That indeed is if we sign him in the first place.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 15:10:44
Hes only a kid and has bags of potential and there's supposed to be a lot of big clubs after him. But what i mean is for a 17 year old to move countries different culture language etc he may not settle and progress. If tho and its a big if we did sign him then we would have beaten some qaulity clubs to his signiture is why i think it would be a massive coup.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jan 2017 17:18:50
Other than what the papers say what do we really know about this kid. Think sometimes the phrase "Wonder Kid" is to freely used to describe decent players. Obviously I would love to be proved wrong. Only time will tell.

Rodwell, Pienaar, Lescott, Anichebe now Gibson and Oviedo! Sunderland should change they're name to Everton 2006 haha. But seriously this shows that Moyes has either ran out of ideas or players don't want to play for him and clearly there is a very small amount of funds available to him.

I think Everton have been incredibly smart recently. from Koeman playing the kids in first team to Baxters contract and the great U23 squad, we've been deliberately advertising ourselves as a place where young players can come and do well, and be looked after. Perhaps that Emerson rumour has some substance to it

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 Jan 2017 09:29:25
Time will tell (I hope to heck it is not a short time) on Baxter, he is a very lucky lad that's all I can say. The rest I agree on.

30 Jan 2017 16:44:50
