Fellaini?

Agree0 Disagree0

You would keep Fellaini but not play him that's clever. don't want Kone he is to old. Wakuso I would prefer Fer.

Agree0 Disagree0

So your prediction is 3 managers, not selling Fellaini but not playing him, and signing Kone & Alcaraz who are both about 30, and also suggesting we sign players who were Moyes' targets. Good prediction that, definitely going to happen.

The whole badge thing was a disgrace, but looking past that (only for one season) I'm very happy with BK at the moment - yes, really. We have managed to arranged a fantastic preseason tour with some of the biggest clubs in the world. If the short-list for the job is truly Pereira, Martinez and Rangnick (with rumoured Bilic) then I'm delighted with it and BK. Fair play, credit when its due, if we spend a bit I'll be really excited for next season. {Ed025's Note - i will too AJ...but no doubt the moaners will find something to be negative about..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, BK has done brilliantly recently to be fair to him and if the right man is brought in which I think will happen and if we spend this summer as well as keeping hold of our top players then we really could be top 4 material next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree if that I will be happy with any of Pereira, Martinez or Rangnick and think Bill has done a good job if he signs one of them. Pereira and Rangnick have good European pedigree and Martinez is very sought after Manager with both Liverpool & Villa trying to appoint him in the past. We have a decent squad and if we could make several decent signings we could really push on again this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2013 23:03:24
Rangnick. Martinez. Or pereira take your pick

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If its out of those three then Kenwright has done a very good job, three respected managers who would bring a new attacking style to our play. Obviously had to read up a bit on Rangnick but he sounds good and whoever Bill picks I'm sure it will be a good call.

Agree0 Disagree0

As an avid follower of German football, would love it to be Ralf Rangnick. Had a few jobs around Germany, throughout the divisions (3rd through to Bundesliga) and has done a very good job at each of them.

Many will look at his time at Schalke, and rightfully so leading them to 2nd in the league, a cup win and in his 2nd stint a CL semi. But to me, his job at Hoffenheim was exceptional, led them to back to back promotions into the Bundesliga and had them playing a very attacking and pressing game, and saw them finish in the top half of table in their first season (got off to a blistering start).

For me, he exhibits all the tools necessary to be an Everton manager. Tactically very good, very experienced, can speak fluent English (believe he studied in England in his younger days), willing to give youth a chance, has a good eye in the market and has won trophies.

Although, my main concern would be health, the reason he left coaching was because of some exhaustion problem, but if he has gotten over that, then would be over the moon if he joined Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Fully, 100% agree. I'm genuinely excited at the thought of RR.
Here's hoping and knowing it's going to seem like a long final few hours until we know!

If that is the new kit I swear its nice apart from the badge but i'm going to get the nil satis nisi optimun put under the crest myself cause that's were it belongs can't wait to get and the away looks really good aswell.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why didn't they just stick 'Nil Satis Nisi Optimun' on the back of the shirt like Liverpool have done with the flames and the 96? If they didn't want it on the badge, then surely this would be a way of getting it on the shirt.

Mike

Here's my two Penneth for what it's worth. Whoever we appoint is going to be a gamble, therefore let's GAMBLE on either on Pereria or Rangnik. I personally would rather gamble on a manager with some European experience as that's were we are at. Martinez would be okay if we were pre Moyes and looking to build a team but we are not that team, we are a few players and a good tactically aware coach away from being a very good team.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Stu, a couple of things mate. For a start we aren't in Europe and we are about 50 million quid from being a very good mside

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm fully aware we haven't been in Europe for a couple of years now but my point was we are constantly knocking on the door and therefore we need that type of manager to push us on. Secondly £50 million quid away from being a very good side? I think Mr anonymous, that unless your name is Mike and you forgot to sign your post, your quite possibly a kopite with nothing better to do!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Marty. correct. he is and tbh despite any faults he may have I honestly believe (big money investment aside) he always has had the clubs interest at heart. even if he has been misguided at times. if he truly is showing due diligence on this one then fair play BK. I may even buy the new shirt despite the crest. jlaff

Amazing scenes on Youtube appearing as I type. Jesus of Nazareth has apparently come through a cloud ridden sky, surrounded be a multitude of angels and is presently offering himself up as the saviour to take Everton to the promised land (or at least the Europa League). Bill states he will interview Him tomorrow but (close to the club state) he has doubts if a carpenters son who could work with the present blues back room staff. People close to Jesus suggest Jimmy Gabriel and Joe (Once in Royal City) would be his preferred choice to help him to take over the blues.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2013 20:31:36
I don't know why everyone is afraid or gutted to get Martinez as our next manager. He's won more silverware than Moyes, he brings out the best in players and players like playing for him. Remember how fantastic N'Zogbia and Moses were with him at Wigan and look at them now with Villa and Chelsea respectively. He's great with the press and more importantly has premier league experience. And with him come some young talent at Wigan that will follow him. I don't think that the other choices are any "better". We should all be happy today. at least we didn't get Mark Hughes!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

WOW.

1/ Neither NZogbia or Moses can get a game

2/ Being good with the press does not win you Premier League points

3/ His Premier League experience includes getting a side good enough to win the FA Cup relegated conceeding 73 goals along the way

Maybe we should wish we were getting Mark Hughes

Agree0 Disagree0

Mike, you forgot to sign off on your last reply. :D

Joking, though.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2013 23:32:17
N'Zogbia was a starter for Villa but never played well there. Under Martinez he was a god. Moses replaced him when he left and he was a great player there. With Villa and Chelsea both are invisible. This could have something to do with the manager's motivation. Martinez like Moyes finds good players: Kone is another example. You can have Hughes and go to Stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

People seem to forget that managers such as Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp have been relegated in the past. Martinez will be a top manager in the future whether its with us or with another club, his attacking style is very easy on the eye and his teams create a lot of chances. With a better defence such as he would have at Everton I think he would be a success.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2013 20:31:30

Hi eds, do we know how well respected Martinez is in Spain. He wouldn't be my first choice but may as well start getting used to the idea it's probably going to be him and wondering if he would be likely to attract players from Spain specially seems we were linked with soldado. If he could pull that off would certainly make him go up in my estimations!

Anyone else find their mind wandering under the stress of all this manager malarkey?! On way home from the safari park with the kids, I caught myself singing along at the top of my voice with the radio to The Beatles " Let it be", only changing the words "mother mary" to Billy Kenwright, and "let it be" to Vitor P instead! Try it, it really is quite therapeutic!! Even if everyone else around you, does look at you like you've lost the plot!

Ed, is there any real strong evidence of who we want, RM or VP, and who would be better, and does the fella really want to stay, or is it a Rooney job, ONCE A BLUE, ALWAYS A BLUE, scenario, and signs for the mancs {Ed025's Note - its 50/50 mate..dont know about felli though..

30 May 2013 19:14:30
wouldn't mind pereira or martinez both well capable of moving on our great club to the next level with a more positive way of playing than moyes.

realistic starting XI for next season:
howard
coleman jags distin baines
fer fellaini
mirallas pienaar
honda
negredo

players in
fer 8m
honda 2m
negredo 15m
young gk 5m
young cb 5m
total spent 35m

players out
anichebe 5m
heitinga 5m

naismith 1m
mucha 3m
money in 15m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mucha is out of contract so no money there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cloud Cuckoo is where your at. Net spend of 20 million? that just ain't happening.

Bill said he would listen to the supporters over the new manager, if he gives the job to martinz guess we should all chip in for an hearing aid. Know he has some supporter on this site, but trying to claim it's 50/50 is an insult, by an overwhelming majority, at least 5 or 6 to 1 people want vp. {Ed025's Note - your wrong mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's just not true mate I know a lot of people that want RM as manager and probably the same amount that want VP. Who it will be is anyone's guess now particularly with the Bilic rumours and the Rangnick interview.

Using my fortune-telling skills (some say they're more pathological than astrological) I've looked into the future and here's Everton's horror-scope.
The club will appoint a manager that will be approved of and disapproved of in fairly equal numbers by the posters on this forum. The majority of fans will give him a chance to succeed, but a minority - the usual doom-sayers - will whinge from day one.
If the new manager is a success - wins trophies and/or qualifies for the CL or EL - the doom-sayers will not even grudgingly compliment him.
If the new manager doesn't make progress, the doom-sayers will be relentless in their "we told you so" crowing.
I also see a misty figure who'll influence the club going forward - his star-sign is a mixture of Leo and Capricorn - yes, it's a leprechaun. Ahh, the luck of the Irish is what we need to find new investment.
Wait, there's more - I see the planets aligning - I predict that some of you posters will carry on talking out of Uranus.
Finally, with the help of Doris (the fabled tea lady of Goodison Park), I've looked into the leaves and confidently predict that our football will be "PG, next season (rather than the X-rated stuff served up by the likes of Stoke) and we are good "Tips" for a cup win and decent league position.
As for the Tarot cards, all I could see were the red and yellow ones that Fellaini risks with his flailing elbows and I also picked the "hanging man" card, which I took to be a prediction of the reaction of the most vociferous anti-Martinez posters if he's appointed.
By the way, if any of you doubt my skills, take note that I inherited them from my late grandfather and he knew exactly the date and time he'd die - the judge told him ;-) {Ed025's Note - love that post mate..its got a cowpat written all over it..

I enjoyed watching the Belgium USA match over here in the US. Tim Howard looked sharp, giving up a goal secondary to a bad defense. Tim was barking at he defense the first half. Mirallas was all over the field and Fellaini was his usual pest in midfield. He did have a good backside goal off his abundant hair. I am encouraged he says her wants to stay. Investment without selling him or Baines would've be optimal. Benteke was a beast (Vic with speed and touch). Now there"s a player worth sinking a few million into.

Everton must have the biggest backroom staff in the world if posts are to be believed. every1 with inside information must be getting it from 1 of our 400 tea ladies or 50 board of directors. seriously love the rumours and banter but hopefully by the weekend or as Ed say maybe monday, we will know. Martinez or Periera hopefully then when we find out we can go on about transfer targets.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2013 17:58:24
After coming to my senses a little after the excitement of thinking that a pereira was definitely going to be our man I remembered how much I was hoping that we could get Martinez if Moyes was to leave. All season we bagged moyes for being too defensive and not going out the to score goals. If there's on thing about Martinez that we know, it's that his teams play to score goals. We already have some great attacking players just imagine what we could produce with Martinez. The thought of Coleman and (hopefully) Baines playing as wing backs excites me along with Mirallas roaming free up front. With new names still to come in its surely an exciting time for us. if i'm honest I would still prefer Vitor Pereira but only slightly. I'm just looking forward to seeing what happens, no matter who is appointed.

Apologies if the following has been answered previously, but:
(1) Does every manager in the Premier League have to have a UEFA Pro Licence these days - the qualification that's the final step above the UEFA A and B Licences that aspiring managers and coaches get first? (I understand that several long-serving managers were awarded an FA Coaching Diploma as a suitable alternative a few years ago, but it's the UEFA Pro Licence that's required these days. )
(2) If they do need a UEFA Pro Licence, then does Alan Stubbs - and every other name mentioned so far - have this qualification?
I thought that UEFA had made their Pro Licence a mandatory qualification these days for all managers (head coaches) whose teams played in the top-tier leagues (e. g. the EPL, Serie A, the Bundesliga, etc. ) and/or in the CL or EL.
I can't imagine anyone being interviewed for the job as Everton manager who didn't have the mandatory qualification.
Anyone who can clarify this, please do. {Ed001's Note - 1. They are supposed to, but exceptions can be applied for from the Premier League. It is highly unlikely one would be allowed unless it is a current player that was asking for it though. So basically yes, a Pro License is required.
2. Stubbs was going through the course a couple of years back, as far as I know, though I haven't checked, he passed. He was certainly very highly regarded while doing his badges, I would be shocked if he hadn't received it.}

I don't normally do this but Suarez has gone to Real Madrid for 40mill. This is the time to act Everton FC. Spurs will lose Bale, this means are direct rivals teams in positions 7th and 5th will be minus their star players. We must invest in the squad, we must get a manager in ealry as we can attract the same level of player as Spurs and Liverpool but if they have cash to burn from big sales we will need to act quickly so not to miss out on pontential targets.
Get the manager sorted and finalised now, give him his kitty and let's not have a transition season let's have a season of growth.

Its now friday and nothing has been said and saying suarez has left is a lie and again I know it is a rumours site but saying you have sources close to the club that makes people think your telling the truth then when nothing happens it is a big let down for some people especially some of the kids that may come on the site

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm ye tits BlueSkittle, I don't see where in Svenny's post he said Suarez flew over to Madrid and completed a medical or would you be able to point that out for me? Would just like to say that the 20,000 or so folk who signed a petition about our badge have made our fans look like proper moaning gets.

I bet over 10,000 of them were Reds

Personally I can't see what is wrong with the badge

That is all

Blue Bones {Ed025's Note - or it could be that 20,000 supporters were concerned that part of our history was being taken away bones?..

It's not moaning Bonesee, its supporters disagreeing with something they don't like and were never consulted about, we keep the club afloat by investing in Sly sports, tickets and kits so we should have a say in what OUR new badge looks like, it is cheap looking and missing parts which should not be removed from our badge "NSNO"

By the way I have just cancelled my Sly subscription and will now be using BT, how the F**K can Liverpool be on Sly sports 1 virtually every week is beyond me, I think they were on third most, no wonder why they can spend 35 million on average strikers

I will now buy my usual 3 kits this year even though I disagree with the badge, reason being is that I love the club and BK has apologised and we will have a new badge next year with NSNO on, probably designed by our poster "Steve"

Roughly, how many fans do we have? 100 of thousands? millions? And because 20,000 complain it gets changed. What about the 100 of thousands that didn't sign it. Only a small percentage of fans have been bothered to complain yet that was all the club needed to panic and back down.

I know it's is sort of advertising Ed but I don't work for BT as you know and hopefully most of our supporters will stop giving Sly their money.

My personal feelings for BK over the last few years was that his ego was holding onto the club and it was selfish reasons instead of the best interest for Everton and got away with it due to the quality of DM.

However, I think he has shined in the last week, the hardest decision in his time at Everton as we now have the time to push on and do something special with the foundations built by DM.

I think he has dealt with it brilliantly and is making all of the right moves, I know we all want money and investment, but I think it is about time we stop getting at BK and start appreciating him for what he has done for the club, we are the 6th best club in the EPL which is more competitive now than ever with more wealth than ever.

Lets support whoever he brings in, I think he has a lot more knowledge and insight than all of us, his last appointment wasn't bad and has actually got Evertons best interest at heart!

However If we don't get VP, Kenwright out! {Ed025's Note - great start!..then you fell flat on your face..

Question for Everton fans.

What has gone wrong with jelavic?

Without doubt his transformation from classy looking one-touch striker to absolute no hoper who can't even connect with shots any more has been one of the weirdest things I've seen in football.
No doubt that this cost us champions league this season - how many teams make champions league without at least one decent striker?
We did well to finish 6th given we just had Jela and Vic to choose from.

What went wrong with Jelavic?

Anyone know the inside story, or just got an opinion?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I noticed during season when his confidence was down he was in space around the 6 yard box and players simply ignored him and tried to go it alone. Even his team mates lost faith in him. I personally hope its second season syndrome. But being left up top on his own with no support kind of says it all. I like him and want him up front next season. I think if the crowd rawed him on and he gets another player along side him he will flourish

Agree0 Disagree0

Seamus Coleman had one of the worst cases of second season syndrome I've ever seen. Look at him now.

. Don't lose hope just yet people.

toffee jack

Agree0 Disagree0

What happened to jelavic? ill tell you what happened to him, like what happened to every goal scoring centre forward moyes bought, in there first season they were doing what centre forwards are payed to do put the ball in the back of the net. Second season that's not good enough for moyes, he didn't want natural goalscoring forwards hovering in and around and outside the box making moves into the box, making space for themselves, loosing a defender and latching on to a cross or a pass and doing what there good at, sticking the ball in the back of the net. Instead he turned them into marathon runners, chasing and chasing aimless long hoof balls down the channels, tracking back, then expecting them to then turn and chase a long hoof back down the park. Goalscorers are good at goalscoring that's what you pay them for, well except for victor, not for running there plums off chasing long balls down channels. {Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

Just want to make 3 quick points my fellow evertonions
Firstly Fellaini's statement is pure class, "one of England's biggest clubs" - he knows his history.
Secondly 4 internal candidates have been interviewed, there's nothing stopping this being for the assistant managers job, or for example Big Dunc getting a promotion to the under 21 manager. Just a thought.
Lastly a good point I seen mike (everyone's favourite pessimist) make about BK being scared to upset the fans about making decisions. I have faith in you Bill, make a desicion IBKWT

The only jobs in the world where you get sacked for being crap, get millions in cash then get another job in the top league, unbelievable

Stoke fans must be crying in their ducky porridge every morning, why they wouldn't go for Poyet, Zola or Matteo, all would have jumped at the chance to manage Stoke in the Prem, nice stepping stone for them and Stoke always spend a few million in transfer window

Sparky ha ha, sacked by Xmas, going to have a tenner on that too

I have followed the club since the great Harry Catterick was boss. Since then we have had 10 permanant managers and I don't suppose more that 2 were everybodys first choice, Kendall and Royle.
Although I seem to remember Mike Walker was extremely popular and look where that got us. In the end we will get who Bill thinks is the one and on August 18th we will all be there looking forward to a great season where we will think we will win everything - but wont. BK said in his tv TV interview that he will put everything into "getting the right DNA for Everton Football Club" re the selection of the new manager.
Well, IMHO, the DNA of Everton is encapsulated by "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum" - even if we've struggled to live up to that on a few too many occasions over the years.

I'm perfectly happy with martinez becoming the next manager, but if he does come I hope that he doesn't bring in any of his former players.

I think there are a few that could contribute to our squad, namely mccarthy, but managers bringing players with them rarely works out well.

they often get favoured and it can create a lot of negative energy in the squad. it's not always good for the player either, they may slack off or just not work out well with the other players.

a new manager who comes in really needs to assert themselves and evaluate the best possible options they can bring in, and personally I think there's better talent outside of wigan.

just my opinion though, obviously i'll support whoever the new man does bring in.
