Happy New Year everyone. Its interesting to see Kev Ratcliffe not blaming TH but instead putting the onus on the ammount of crosses that are coming into our Box. Been saying something similar, it has to get through our defence before it gets to TH and its far too often. Sadly TH isn't able at the moment to deal with it however.

Crosses, Corners, Free Kicks. Strange how the same bunch of defence men were able to deal with this stuff under Moyes.

Duncansmum, 3 of our 4 defenders never played under moyes?

Happy New Year Swanley, the two of you are right if that makes sense!

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 22:02:28
No Swan, Coleman and Baines have. Mori obviously hasn't. But Jags has. So that's 3 out of 4 that played under Moyes for years. Stones was signed by Moyes.

You can dress it up whatever way you want Swan Moyes signed Stones. No one knows if Moyes did or didn't rate him. What everyone does know is that it was Moyes who signed Stones.

So our first choice back 4 were all signed by Moyes, fact! Another fact and the main point duncansmum is making is that Moyes had a far better and organized defence. So Stones had replaced Distin from Moyes defence while he was here.

Distin was never considered £50m player so our first choice back 4 are better than the back 4 Moyes had and is leaking far more goals.

Do you really need to do the Math to figure it out? Didn't think so. Duncansmum point is totally correct.

. and we scored FA under him NBTB.

31 Dec 2015 22:42:05
I suppose to counter that argument. Those players were 3/ 4 years younger when moyes had them. Not a lot but for Howard and Baines it's the difference being between world class and good players. I'm not sure if the answer to Everton but I'm willing to hold on and enjoy the ride.

Baines and Jagielka have barely played, I meant Mori, Stones and Galloway.

We know Moyes didn't rate Stones.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 01:39:55
I was also not slating Moyes at all, I just commented Mori, Stones and Galloway have played more than Baines and Jagielka this season, none played under Moyes. I was just stating that, no one had a go at Moyes, calm down.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 09:59:57
It's ok Swan but duncansmum point is correct no matter what way you look at it.

One question though, how do you know Moyes didn't rate Stones?

First I've ever heard of a manager signing someone they didn't rate. Sounds strange to me.

01 Jan 2016 11:45:53
one of our scouts revealed he had to basically beg Moyes to sign him because Moyes didn't think he was good enough for the Premier League.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 12:20:33
Coleman, Baines, Jags, Stones, all brought in under Moyes, Brown and Galloway where here under Moyes. The only guy playing in the back four not of the Moyes era is Funes and once Jags comes back Martinez will put him straight back in with Stones imo on current form it should be Funes and Jags.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 14:36:11
Brown? Who is Brown? . Galloway was not here under Moyes, he was Signed by the current manager last summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he meant browning i suspect swan..

01 Jan 2016 14:54:39
Agreed duncamsmum. So that scout was basically saying it was because of him that Stones is with Everton and how brilliant he was at getting him to Everton.

Yea well, tell him to get a keeper and 9 more outfield players like that and then we'll be sorted.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 16:57:42
Browning another one Moyes didn't play.

I would like to wish all fellow Blues a happy and healthy New Year and success in at least one of the cups for Everton. Also like to thank the Ed's especially Ed002 who often makes me rethink my opinions.
As one who was at Wembley in 1966 I will predict that we will win again at the New Wembley stadium in 2016, let's face it, it's 50 years since our great victory in 1966 so it must be an omen. We will also be bought by some filthy rich people who will build us a new stadium and give us a squad that can compete with the best clubs in Europe,
Mike.

{Ed025's Note - i think you may have been eating too many skittles over the festive period mike..but lets hope some of that comes to fruition mate.. :)

No Skittles for me Ed025, I have to keep my youthful figure. Now margaritas, that's a different story.

Give me a club with no "soul" (whatever that means) and success over a club with a "soul" that achieves nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 02:11:26
We will always have "soul". It is the supporters that give a club "soul", not the owners or the stadium or the players for that matter. The reason I followed Everton, my fathers team rather than Liverpool, my mothers family team was the fact that for the first time I watched the Blues at six years of age I had that special feeling,
Mike.

31 Dec 2015 15:52:14
Is it ice-cream or I'd scream? More like you'd be dreaming. Can't even get Mirallas or Lennon in the squad. Can't see us buying anyone really. Still all the better if we do. Keep competition going.

I'd say the weekly wage has gone up considerably in last 2 seasons. With all these improved contracts for our youngsters. Along with the likes of Osman, Pienaar and Hibbert still in the squad.

Only way I see someone coming in is if we sell. McGeady is on £50k and he hasn't been seen for a good few months now. Surely the wage bill will have to be freed a little. Even if we don't want to buy anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 16:11:56
I agree hibbert, Pienaar and mc Geady should be realeased to reduce wages by probably 140k pw.

HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS.

I would rather be at this point total for underachieving rather than overachieving.

We are underachieving.

Will miss Naismith if he goes in 2016. Damn hard worker, deserves more time on the pitch. He should be the automatic 60 minute substitution at the very least.

If it's true that the yanks are going to take us over, does anyone know how long it takes? . and if it is happening, and happening soon. would they give some cash to spend in this window?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There are no yanks interested in buying Everton.}

31 Dec 2015 12:21:35
Haha Ed002 loves p***ing on our chips. I'm inclined to agree with him though. Coincidence that the half season tickets go on sale around the time the rumours about a takeover surface. I'll leave you all to make your own minds up!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, perhaps you don't understand, I have explained who is intesed in buying the club, and it doesn't include any Yanks.}

31 Dec 2015 14:24:23
So Moores and noell, are currently doing due diligence on the clubs books, for their own amusment. Does not mean that it will happen, they could well conclude it's over priced. But ed2 is not as well informed as he appears to think.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 14:35:56
It depends on your definition of "Yanks". The British use it for all Americans but historically it was used by Americans form the south for Union Soldiers or Northerners. So since the two Americans are from the South of America Ed002 is correct in saying that "no yanks interested in buying Everton".

31 Dec 2015 15:40:39
As a recovering Yank (left Detroit decades ago) now living in the Deep South. I concur. Yankee primarily applies to Northeastern dwellers (like those rotten Boston - Fenway group types who love that red color) .

I hope this investment group is actually interested in running a football club, not just the investing. It would be nice to have an activist owner intent on winning.

Not a critique of the current regime. I want ownership that doesn't view the team as a commodity. Would rather have a rich Jordanian magnate in that case.

Just shows you how the guy is so inward looking, the old saying pride comes before a fall is a valid saying but obviously one that Mr Martinez just does not get. Some posters have already alluded to it but the laboured continental style buildup just does not work and Teams such as Watford, Bournemouth, Palace even Stoke (against us) have shown that the quick penetrative style bears better results. Brendan Rodgers would not change from this continental style hence why he lost his job, Rodgers and Martinez are supposed to be the new type of up and coming Managers, so what does that say about Martinez. Even Teams on the Continent are even changing away from this slow build up, yet Mr Martinez says we are on the right track. Roberto is even on record, stating that he now has the Squad he wanted and from October onwards we would see the improvement and results he has been working towards, however, he did not mention a year. Never mind though, the 2016-17 season will be our year. Seems we have taken on the mantle of predictions oft associated with our illustrious neighbours.
