Apart from the Arse defeat in the cup, 'Big Dunc' was promoted to the first team coaching squad at about the same time.
Is our current run due to his influence or is it just a coincidence?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Coincidence.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you mike..

I agree that the improvement in our overall performance is just a coincidence. However I don't think it's any surprise that Lukakus general hold up play has improved since he took over!

Agree0 Disagree0

Coincidence that the last five games Stones has played 90 minutes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Coincidence also

Good luck sunday Gents, hope you have a good game.

Is that better Ed025?

(smiles)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate, but if i wish you the same i will be accused of double standards over the liverpool arsenal love fest...so i will just say ..may the best team win.. :)

Lol, stick to your guns mate, best way.

Although an Arsenal/Everton love-fest sounds quite good to me.

Or what about a 3-sum. Arsenal/Everton/Liverpool?

Actually, scrub that idea, lol

Agree0 Disagree0

You would need a good scrubbing after that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

Yeah mate
don't miss this game after all it is the one in which your hopes of qualifying for CL (LMAO would be destroyed once and for all and you would be put in your own place you bitters
P S some of the wishlists flying about on this site as ludicrous as england winning the world cup with Hodgson in charge

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - just think reet...you might finish above us this year mate.. its been quite a while since you did that.. ;0

Come out of your shell have you, you sad red go back on your own site, the beano has a chat page

Agree0 Disagree0

Made me cringe for you Reet. There's only one bitter post amongst this lot. Shock

I was confident for Sunday, but just seen the ref: Martin Atkinson, let's hope for once he actually gives us something, or is that asking to much?

If we get Europe I would buy

Rodwell on loan
Barry permanent
Another CB for the retiring distin
A Striker or two permanent (bony)
A winger or deulofeu on loan again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's very generous of you, RVBlue.
I'm sure that BK and RM would appreciate you buying those players so that they can spend their own budget on other players to boost the squad.
;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Distin will never retire. Like a vintage bottle of red he doesn't do age. With a life expectancy of 142 he is destined to overtake Michael Jackson as the oldest human on record.

Team to face Arsenal
Howard
Baines
Distin
Jagielka (if fit, if not Stones)
Coleman
Barry
McCarthy
McGeady
Mirallas
Naismith
Lukaku

Got options on the bench as well. A bit harsh on stones, leaving him out but I think we need our captain for this one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

As much as I love Naismith, he's not a starter in my opinion. He's at his most influential when he comes off the bench with 30 mins to go. If Barkley is fit, he must start. As for the rest I agree, although it's a hard one trying to pick the wingers. Deulofeu has been very good his last 2 games and that doesn't warrant his removal from the starting 11. Hard decisions for Roberto although competition for places is always healthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I agree there Blue-tit. The way we finished on Sunday was a lot stronger than the way in which we started.
Naismith and McGeady looked hungry in the second period and deserve to start. Despite John Stones having an excellent game I would still start with Jags. He's the captain and would bring back confidence in the back 4. The question still remains why was he not even on the bench at Fulham having travelled down with the squad? Is he still feeling the effects of the injury or is Roberto keeping him fresh for next weekend?
This is a massive game and is the perfect time to be playing AFC after their recent slump. We need to be playing with full confidence (with a full week's preparation this time) and hopefully a full strength squad to choose from.

does anyone else think making the CL next season might set us back 12 months or more?

The game on sunday showed that we can't handle 2 games a week on a consistent basis, and in the CL the games will be harder then Whocastle and Fulham

our squad isn't big enough now, plus loosing the 4 loan players.

I can see us really struggling next season, spurs, Southampton and whocastle will all be pushing for top 6 Man United have to bounce back big time

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if we do get top 4 BOTN, i would expect us to strengthen significantly, the income it would generate would allow us to invest in the squad, so i cant really see it as a negative mate..

BOTN - I think qualifying for the Champions League for us will be a bit like becoming a parent for the 1st time. There will never be a good time for it to happen and we will never truly be ready but the demands on resources will be well worth it and the most rewarding thing that can happen to someone (Everton)
Ok weird analogy but what i'm trying to say is surely the positives out weight the negatives and we have to take the opportunity if and when it happens be that this season or in the future no matter what our situation is

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you svenny..

So basically, we just need to amble on and on going nowhere. And that staying 6th or 7th is what we need. I think I know the man for the job. I wonder if Kenwright still has Moysie's phone number?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mike there's no need for sarcasm at this stage. Let's take 'em apart and gain some revenge for that Cup game. By the way are we reducing their allocation in case they stand or bring flares? If we're concerned about safety issues, the Upper Bullens could have been offered to Everton fans which would have reduced their vocal support and been a fair reprisal for the disgraceful way in which they treated us last time round.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Daveyboy. I can't help it mate. I just have a sarcastic way of expressing myself on here. (check most of my posts for evidence). I will try and be more serious from now on. (you see, even that sounded sarcastic).

Agree0 Disagree0

Daveyboy Blue- spot on, they should have lower bullens only, rows why & z
i just hope the old lady is bouncing and every one of us sings out hearts out
Come on you mighty blue boys

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on daveyblue their allocation should be greatly reduced fairs fair and all that jazz. See how they like it

Looks like Barkley is off to Brazil. Otherwise it's very strange to have him modelling the World Cup kit! Good luck to him just hope this level headed mindset he supposedly has stays with him. At times he does seem (on the pitch that is) a little bit like he is believing his own hype. I don't know if that is a negative though as the best players have to have an arrogance about them. Problem is as it stands he has the potential to be one of the best but certainly isn't yet.
Anyway good luck to Jags, Baines and Barkley who I'm sure will all be going to Brazil.
Can't believe it's only Monday, so desperate for Sundays showdown. Going to be a long week waiting but the best things are worth waiting for.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Svenny counting down the days in anticipation. Like you I'm eagerly awaiting this game. our Cup final now after we fell apart in the second half of that Cup game down there. Tim Howard back in goal should be the difference.
