Really glad everything is in place with the manager and brands, just hope we let them do there job, next season will be big season for us to start our work, next season we won't be pushing the top four, and we should understand this, we need a lot of new players and we don't want to turn in to a club who sacks managers after 1 season, we need to build, in a coupe or 3 hopefully we will start pushing towards the top.

I think it'll take a few years and a good 5-6 transfer windows for Silva to get the team HE wants, it's up to you as fans to persevere with him and his plans for the team.

Success for you lads is coming in my opinion. He just needs to change a hell of a lot. He's brave for taking such a position because it's not as if 1 or 2 signings will get you up there, no, it's going to take more then that but if I was you lot I'd be very confident about the future.

Even with the team you already have, managed by a man like Silva with a couple of additions (atleast) in this window, you'll definitely see a difference next season. He was the right man for the job, I said it weeks ago and stand by it.

Obviously as a Liverpool fan this is concerning ;) only messing, as I said earlier I wish you the best of luck! Be happy and look forward to the future, if I was in your lots shoes, I'd be delighted. Last season was a disaster for Everton and I didn't like to see it I must admit, seeing that turd incharge of any club is a disgrace but, onwards and upwards! Be chuft. :)

Not having this "if he doesn't gstracted like at Watford" stuff. When he arrived there he was their seventh manager in five years. I think anyone can be forgiven for trying to look after himself in those circumstances.

31 May 2018 21:54:37
We just had 5 managers (including unsy and silva) in about 2/ 3 years so should he look after himself here too?
We should all get behind the new set up and give it our total support for 2/ 3 years. We going to have ups and downs but hopefully the football will be more entertaining than the dross we had to watch the past 6 months.

Unsworth doesn't count. Always a caretaker. Moyes dragged in at end of a long tenure. If you are going to use figures then use them fairly.

Good luck to the M and M's. Sad to see a couple of people on this site already pushing the negativity (even after saying they would get right behind whoever was appointed)

I think we've got a new team in charge, heading in the right direction. Let's just get behind them and give them time as we are certainly not the finished article right now

Big Sam job done - but another wasted season! Silva appointed so please let's give him time to fix the mess at our club. Things won't happen overnight and it will be difficult to attract quality players, a lot of fans will have huge expectations but it may take two seasons to fix the squad and get where we want to be, all I'm saying is let's not get on the managers back if we don't hit the ground running, we need to be patient and give the new DoF and manager time to put things right.

I think everyone knew we were in for a 5 year ride when FM came into the club.
I'm not sure too many fans have unrealistic expectations.
For fear of repeating ourselves, having a team that plays to win is progress enough.

Yes a wasted year but boy hasn't FM proved he is open to listening to us the fans and he is capable of fixing and learning from previous mistakes. And that is priceless for a long happy future for us, the club and the owner.

Welcome Silva and good luck lad.
I for 1 am looking forward to my Saturday afternoons again.
Hopefully next week we can start talking new players and never mention this shambles again.
I don't even want to know about any compensation or costs to this saga. Moved on.

{Ed025's Note - good post that mate..

31 May 2018 23:38:04
Being honest when they appointed Koeman I thought it was the best appointment since Lord Kendall. It was not to be. I was dreading next season in case Allardyce was still in charge. Now I am excited, so excited I can't wait for the world cup to finish so we can crack on with next season :-) Great to see that not only have we gone for a young manager, but also got ourselves a successful DOF. I can see only good coming from this as the club move forward to a new era. I wonder how many Liverpool fans winced at Shankly, Man U fans at Ferguson, Arsenal fans at Wenger. We all know what happened next. It can happen here too. The next dynasty is waiting to happen.

So Silva was manager at least 8 days ago. If you look at Brands interview on the Everton website about him he has the same clothes on and the papers on his desk and mic is in the same place as his interview last week.

Amazing with all the stories out this week about other managers and this and that.

Just shows us fans know absolutely nothing about what is going on in the background of our clubs.

As a Liverpool fan, the appointment of Marco Silva somewhat concerns me. I believe he can take you in the right direction, he's no fool that man so if I was you lot I'd be very pleased with him becoming your manager.

You just have to be patient with him, he has to change a hell of a lot and that doesn't happen overnight but I'm sure the changes will be for the better.

Good luck Everton, it's about time you had some good news.

{Ed025's Note - cheers salah, i think he will be a good appointment but as you say it will take him time and its up to us to support him and the club through thick and thin mate..

1) Make Seamus Captain
2) Ensure Lookman stays
3) Get rid of the deadwood and pointless high earners Williams, Mirallas, Martina, Rooney, Sandro, Besic, Galloway and Pennington
4) Get in a young promising left back, centre half, strong central midfielder and a striker to support the load on Cenk
5) Make us proud to be blues again.
Obviously it's going to be a tough summer but patience is key and maybe we might not be able to do everything we want this transfer window but in Marco and Marcel we trust. Up the toffees.

31 May 2018 16:35:19
I agree boys. If he stays focused on our job (Not get distracted like at watford) then I think he will be a really good appointment. Young modern continental coach who can adapt tactics depending on opposition rather than one way of playing (Like klopp no plan b) . We need to raise the roof come August and support the new set up and whoever the 11 is who takes the pitch for first home game.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2018 16:35:42
I am hopeful that we, the fans, will give him time, he and Brands will need time to make the team theirs with the right signings and coaching. Don’t forget that both Brands and Silva have fantastic reputations within the footballing world so I expect decent signings and good technique on the training ground.

I for one will be happy to watch how things work out and I hope we will all be pleasantly surprised too. Silva likes to “have a go” with his teams which was lacking under Sam so should be good to watch. Rather than sit at home and try and scrape a 1-0 against the so called lesser teams.

In Brands and Silva we now trust.

{Ed025's Note - very negative sa, im saying he will be great for us and we will move in the right direction playing entertaining football mate..

31 May 2018 18:20:49
Rome wasn’t built in a day sa so we will need to be patient. Yes there will be bumps, but I feel, like Ed025, he will be very good for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2018 19:00:23
SA90 don't think he will get as little as 10 games, but I do think it will end in tears. This is Martinez Mk2 talks a good game. As for knows how to change tactics, I am sorry but that is just bull. Did he know how to adjust at Watford once it went awry. Yes he nearly managed it at Hull but the key there is nearly and nearly is not good enough. I am voting with my feet.

Agree0 Disagree4

31 May 2018 19:10:54
Sorry dfs but anyone is better than fat Sam so I am giving the new set up my total support. Maybe Silva on his own would be a mistake but as a team with brands and new CEO could be just what we needed. Now he has a change to build something without boardroom quarrels (hull) or boardroom interference (watford- having to buy from owners other clubs) .
Let's see where we are at Christmas before even daring to mention unhappiness.

It’s alright to be cautious.

I’m hoping we give Brandts and Silva as much time as needed to sort out the team. Everything I’ve read or heard sounds promising:
- bring through youth
- pressing, attacking football
- ambitious ideas
- good man management

Fingers crossed he fulfills the potential.

Nice support there DFS. Hopefully your seat will be taken by someone who knows what the word means.

That toys out of the pram comment I made seems rather tame now.

Talk with my feet. We need people getting behind this team. So have your concerns but give the man a chance and SUPPORT your club.

Finally have Silva done and dusted. Looking forward to the new season and the new look Everton.
We should all start with a clean slate and forget about Hull, we are Everton, we have some talent already at our disposal and Marco is the man who will mould this talent into an attack minded footballing side.
Young manager with a modern style, something we haven't had for a while.

31 May 2018 15:05:15
Assuming it's true, we need to have patience and give the new team a chance to build something. Both Kendall and Moyes had poor seasons before things came good. While Silva has a record of having a positive impact quickly, that can't be guaranteed at the top end of the table, where the gap between top 6 and the rest is significant. In spite of recent investment, we all know that the team/ squad is not good enough to challenge for top 6 as it stands, so let's be realistic in the targets we expect for this season - it's not a positive mindset to expect miracles and criticise the club when they don't occur. The 6 clubs above us have far more money than we do and none of them have to spend hundreds of millions building a new stadium over the next few years. They can all offer higher fees, wages and European football to potential transfer targets. In the light of West Ham's dodgy deal for their stadium, the reality is we face a challenge to maintain our status as best of the rest, although that is a challenge I would expect us to meet. Anything beyond that equals real success at this stage in the club's development and a job well done by the board, management team and players. We all want to win trophies and we all want to finish as high up the league as possible but we also need to be realistic about the odds of that happening in the short term.

31 May 2018 15:31:16
Lets hope the fans give him the time he will need then.

Further to a few post below in general most agree we will reduce the squad, especially when we have a lot of youngsters coming through. Personally I would
sell/ release - Robles (needs games) , Martina, Williams, Jagielka, Rooney, Mirallas, Galloway, Browning, Garbutt.
Depending on how Silva will have us playing will we play 1 or 2 holding midfielders? Gueye, Schneiderlin, Besic, McCarthy, Banigime to many if only the one. I still think Schneiderlin is a quality player if managed correctly.
Bolasie I am a fan of and don’t think we have seen the true potential yet. I always love to watch a player that excites you and is one of the most skilful players in the league, what Silva will need to decide is can he play in his team and accommodate him. Maybe him and Lookman either side will make up for Cenk lack of mobility.
Our squad as a whole is so unbalanced it’s hard to believe it was allowed to get this way. We will need to let some players leave that are good but we are just overloaded with that position. Maybe Besic and McCarthy and Rooney and Klassen.

That leaves us looking for an understudy for GK.
x1 CB
x1LB
If anyone else is brought in then others will need to leave.
Starting XI
Pickford
Coleman
Keane
Holgate
New LB
Gueye
Schneiderlin
Sigurdson
Bolasie / Walcott
Lookman
Tosun

Subs
New GK
Kenny
New CB
Mori
Baines
Banigime
Davies
Vlasic
DCL
Ramirez

Some big decisions to make as depends on our style we will play. If Silva adopts the pressing style. Can Bolasie, Klassen, Tosun play this style?

Anyway my main point is Seamus Coleman to be our captain for the new look Everton.
What does everyone think our new style should be play 3 up with wide players or play two upfront. Have the current players got it in them to play the high press with good energy levels?
