Ed 001 you said Kenwright has the money for a new stadium, do you know where the investment came from.
{Ed001's Note - I don't sorry, I was told Elstone had been working hard on securing it though. So maybe those highly visible trips he made recently were connected?? A large proportion has simply come from the club being in a better place financially though.}
How can the club put a lot of it up ed if this is the first year in donkeys we had a profit an it was only 28 mill so have we been saving up for the last ten years
{Ed001's Note - I didn't mean it to be read that way. I meant the club are in a better position to request loans from banks. A large portion of the way will be taken in the form of a long term loan.}
Exactly Ed, if given new tv money we start to turn a profit every year rather than a loss then we can ask for a hefty loan.
Think of it like a mortgage lads, if we can put around 5 - 10% deposit down the bank will sort the rest, add to that the likely commercial deals that will be happening, naming rights, retail outlets etc and that's how it will be paid.
For me I just do not think it will bring the extra money everybody thinks it will, bottom line is Everton is a working mans club, ticket prices can not be raised that much as nobody will be able to afford it and from a corporate hospitality point of view is our beloved club really the place people will pay over the odds for a box?
{Ed001's Note - it is the corporate boxes that will make the difference, so you had better hope they will pay over the odds for them! Seriously though, I think you underestimate the appeal of the Prem. I have a friend who takes boxes every season for a number of Prem teams to wine and dine clients and potential clients. He is a Villa fan, but he had a box at Birmingham too when they were in the Prem. It is not about support for the corporates, it is about the ability to show off to clients and also, in his case, a way of rewarding employees who reached certain targets. One box each weekend was always used just for the reward of his staff who had overperformed. So I wouldn't worry about those not selling.}
