I can't believe the panic and calls for our next manager to be Sam Allardyce, someone who was fired from the English managers job. Does anyone remember our motto? Take my word for it, we will not be in the bottom three teams at the end of the season. Why, because their are three teams that are worse than us and will end up with less points. We have 28 games to get the required number of points and the January window to improve the squad notably central defense, left-back and a target man.
As far as at the new Manager is concerned we have got to get this one right, not for a short term fix but for the long term good of the club. We need stability for the foreseeable future which excludes quick fixes or Managers who see this as a stepping stone to bigger things. I am not going to speculate who this may be but if the club would be willing to pay me a large retainer I am sure I could come up with some names as well as anyone in the club. As Ed002 has stated many times we need advice from a third party (not me) to choose the right person this time around. This season may not turn out like most of us expected but we will not be relegated and hopefully the next Manager will provide both entertaining football and a future for the club for which we can all be proud.

Why are we all saying appointing Dyche, Allardyce is a backwards step, a backwards step from Koeman Martinez are these actually better manager or is it the fact these managers maximise what they have, Burnley are 7th with double our points and too be honest they have had just as tough fixtures as us. Dyche gets the best from his players with the budget he has got, the only way people can judge him is by getting a bigger job.

Dyche isn't my 1st choice but what do I know, I wanted Koeman.

31 Oct 2017 21:12:14
I would not have major problems if we appointed Dyche although I don't want him since he does not have the experience we need IMHO nor does he have any affinity with the club. Why any Evertonian would accept Allardyce is beyond me.

Finally a common sense post.

Moyes never had the experience we needed but he did fine once appointed. At least Dyche has prem experience. Moyes didnt.

To be fair Dentie. We found out after 11 years Moyes limitations and no trophies. We're in a position now where we need someone who will take the club onto the next level and move it forward.

Sam is corrupt and produces utter boring football and Dyche looks like he is modelling his career on the same type of football.

For some reason Evertonians seem to have hit the panic button and now want to take anyone who's been running a struggling club.

Nor did Moyes have any affinity with the club before he joined. We really limit our options if we insist on that, however romantic it seems. The new guy has to have the requisite knowledge, skills and character, and in my view (not shared by all, I know) these are more important than a high profile or experience in the prem. He also has to be inspired by the job. In fairness to Roberto, he did seem to take the club to heart from day one, although my guess is he was the same wherever he went. Contrast that with Koeman, who went on holiday as soon as he signed the contract, always talked about the club in the third person and was on record as saying the reason he came here is because Southampton wouldn't give him a better contract and Everton offered him a lot of money - no wonder he didn't inspire the troops! We love Rhino because he cares deeply about the job and about the club and of course that matters. It's not the only factor (any of us would bring passion, but we'd be rubbish) , but you want a sense that the new guy would have that once he's here. My guess is that Dyche would bring passion, whatever else we think of him.

But apparently they have no intention of contact for now. Yet have contacted Mr Allardyce.

I think we should wait till the end of the season then go for Claus from FC Parata he would be bang on to deliver everything everyone want be Christmas.

My concern with Dyche is that his play style differs from the players we currently have. (E. g. We have 3 (potentially 4) no. 10’s and no real target man) .

Burnley currently play with no real no. 10 and 1, if not 2, target men up top.

Should we not be looking for a manager who can play a style/ system that utilizes the players we currently have in the squad and look to bolster the squad with some additions in January?

Happy Halloween everyone deeney is out of the game for Watford so both teams will have no CF. I don't know why but I think it will all turn around when we play lyon even batman thinks so he's just knocked or maybe am the joker.

my issue with Dyche is that he built the Burnley team and it took him 3 years to do so.

we don't have 3 years.

get in big Sam with a bonus for keeping us up and move for Dyche in the summer (I don't like alladyce but we need his expertise as we are in a relegation fight weather we like it or not.

If it is Dyche then he is inheriting a better team to start with, but he has the job of getting them back to where they should be. He will also get reinforcements in the January window.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - he is not getting a better team wakka, he may be getting some better individuals but hes going to have to mould them into a team if he gets the gig mate..

31 Oct 2017 17:42:13
good shout and that's actually what I meant ed025, he needs to get them playing as a team and for each other, reinforce some commitment to the cause, I also think he needs to cut away some of the dead wood.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that cant happen until january wakka but its obvious that some of the players need to move on and be replaced by better quality mate..

31 Oct 2017 18:05:58
Ed if he comes he needs to bring Mee with him. Him and Keane were solid as a defencive pair.

Just read that Sean Dyche has a release clause of £2-5 mill if true no problem there, but when you consider Koeman had a £ 5-6 mill clause just goes to show funny old world.

Burnley didn't play boring football at Goodison a few weeks ago I would rather have someone who plays to the strengths of the players he has than try to shoehorn players to fit a supposed attractive style a la koeman. If Sean Dyche came in and got us winning again that would do for me.

toffeeAL spot on and if Citeh had scored that goal it would have been shown more times than when Burnley scored it!

01 Nov 2017 07:59:57
To be fair against Burnley we were the better side, but as in another couple of games this season, loads of possession without a cutting edge and weak at the back just make the opposition laugh at us.

i think moshiri has the best thinking for the next manager, marco silva is a good young manager. my other manager choice would be benitez (i said this before koeman was appointed) . dyche would be no better than moyes (boring football) .

I like Silva promising young foreign manager who's last club got relegated!
Sounds ominous yet familiar!

31 Oct 2017 12:52:27
The glamour of appointing Silva or a foreign type manager is fine and I'm not against it. However, imho its all about timing. Also imho a Dyche kind of manager who gets results is what is needed the most at the moment.

Then when we are stable enough and a good groundwork is made we can maybe look at a new manager. If it is felt Dyche is holding us back. First though, just my opinion we need to break this negative cycle and get back to winning ways.

{Ed025's Note - your right NBTB but its easier said than done mate..

{Ed025's Note - theres nothing wrong with that mate..

Agree NBTB stabilisation and results are key here! He may well grow to be a top manager while improving the clubs position.

The Europa League has gone .
To be honest as much as I wanted us to finish as high as possible I did not think being in this was a good idea .
Yea the idea is to win it as enter Champs League but the amount of games required is crazy .
Anyway given that home to Watford is far more important and teams who play in Europe mid week do notoriously bad I would leave a vast number of them at home!
What team would you put out against Lyon?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

31 Oct 2017 09:13:28
Morning mate agree with that, far too many games, same as you what team turns up on Thurs but hey we will still get behind them mate cheers.

31 Oct 2017 10:19:01
I would play a team of youngsters to give them a taste of things to come in the future if they stick with us. A full team of under 21's.

Agree3 Disagree3

31 Oct 2017 10:51:54
Yes GB and GT I would not want any single player who is to play on Sunday playing in Lyon and that includes Pickford .
Saying we needed to be in it as we had a chance of Champions League was at the very least nieve.
We had as much chance of winning the Prem and the date we had to start our season I fear has just added to our woes!
Our next 3 league fixtures are like Cup Finals and 100% more important than the Lyon game and we need to be 100% behind the team with a atmosphere like may I say it at the Bayern Munich game ( a long ago memory now)
ONCE A BLUE ALWAYS A BLUE.

Agree3 Disagree1

31 Oct 2017 11:16:21
Or if you fancy being positive, we somehow muster a win then beat Apollon and Atalanta, crazy times but we all thought it would be possible when the draw was made and we have 10 points
Atalanta beat Apollon and draw with Lyon +4 points
Lyon beat Apollon and draw with Atalanta + 4 points

We would then steal 2nd spot!

A far more positive future than Big Sam as manager!

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Oct 2017 11:33:58
mr negative trebor, if you think we can't win any of those tow then you must think we can never win anything ever again, boring to say the least mate cmon.

Agree0 Disagree3

31 Oct 2017 11:51:30
I think we have a duty to ourselves, other teams in the group, and in the tradition of fair play to go out with a strong team and win this game, playing weak sides and losing will not get us back to where we want to be!
When we cannot play in this competition we will have much more time between games!
I want Everton to compete in EVERY game possible!

Agree5 Disagree2

31 Oct 2017 12:35:28
Trouble is Wakka while i tend to agree with you mate as well, how many time have we heard that the poor little lovies are tired come the Sun match (our lads can't play twice in a week) and don't perform, i would prefer they pushed on to stay in the Premiership myself cheers.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Oct 2017 13:43:32
GB the premier is the most important I agree mate, but the euro leagues are what all players supposedly want to play in.
And let's face it Goodison was a great place to watch euro football nights!

Sorry no way am I negative I am being practical and realistic .
Many better teams than us at the moment struggle to win midweek away in Europe and again at the weekend .
Yea I can see your view win all the remaining games and hope other results go our way! I don’t think so .
If we were top of the group then 100% yea go for it but you have to assess the overall probability given our form and the probability is very very low .
Also the Watford game is now far far more important
Ask any Evertonian given the choice win against Lyon or 3 points on Sunday and I know what the answer would be .
Yea win both I hear you say Mr negative but I am dealing in reality and logic not day dreams .
Our players are shot of confidence and so slow it’s untrue putting them through further embarrassment in Lyon will not help .
