Not at all.

Are you serious Suarez scored about 28 in 4 games against him (4 from the halfway line! ) Ruddy did everything he could to help them win the league that year. We'd never of heard the last of it. Thank God for Pelligrini and City!

In the summer i think we need at least 7 quality players in who you would like .

Gk-need a solid number 1
Lb- need a wing back with a engine with quality
Cb- need two centre back who can play against players with pace as the one now can't
RB. Could do with a full back who offers more in advanced positions than holgate when Coleman back we are covered with holgate
Cm- replace Barry and we are covered
Wingers- bring in one with a good final pass
Hoping lookman can step up and keep super Kev
No10- if Barkley leaves spend the a chunk of the money we have to replace him who can impact straight away. If he stays get someone who can affect the play in a different way
Striker- we need at least one if rom stays as we have no decent back up. And can never bring him off is he's not performing and if he goes we need 2 strikers.
Subs promote some youth and maybe some decent loan players to add quality to the squad.

Flippin heck Eddy. You have listed at least 9 players we need to replace if Barkley goes and 10 if Rom goes. Tell you what why don't we just swap teams with another club? How about Chelsea? Just pretend they are Everton? lol.

Would be easier 👌🏼.

I agree Eddie. If we want to challenge top 4 and compete in Europe these areas need improvements. Although, I think 1 or two could come through the youth team.

We are about to see this summer a transfer window like no other for us blues. I can't wait.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it should be very interesting john, i know i say it every year but i would like to see some business done early and my worst fear is that if we hold out on the rom transfer that all the top strikers will be gone, if we decide to sell then lets do the deed early i say mate..

05 May 2017 11:46:30
I agree Ed. I would like to see us sign Dolberg irrespective of if Rom goes or not.

Watching the Ajax v Lyon game. What a performance so far from Ajax! . High intensity pressing from everyone. Lyon are struggling to string 2 passes together

Their CB Sanchez looks a top top player. Sign him up Koeman!

Players to get rid off.

Garbutt
Mcgeady
Barry although probably stay as we have busy fixture list next year
Mirallas
Kone

Probably more but interested to know what everyone else thinks.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

03 May 2017 17:33:36
I definitely wouldn't get rid of Mirallas. Even if he isn't a starter every week he is a quality squad player and will be valuable in Europe next season IMO.

Agree with the rest bar maybe Garbutt. It's a strange one with him as he looked so promising a few years ago when he played a few games in the league and Europe.

His delivery is better than Baines's imo. At 23/ 24 though it's definitely make or break for him.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 May 2017 20:24:34
I would keep mirallas too. Niasse and delofeu to go as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2017 11:39:11
I would keep both Mirallas and Barry. McAlney, McGeady, Kone Niassie, to definitely go. Assess Garbutt, Galoway, Browning, Rodriegez, Tarashaj, Delofeu. Then do we need McCarthy and Besic who are very similar to Gueye we may we off load one or the other.

05 May 2017 07:04:57
Kev has a year left so get rid if he doesn't sign. Same with Ross. The rest there are cannon fodder so they can go as Well.

If we can get two quality strikers I'd sell Rom. Sick of this circus all year every year. Only want players who want to play for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree with the last bit john but think the cannon fodder bit is a bit harsh mate..

03 May 2017 16:01:24
With you set to face Swansea, I just wondered, has Ashley Williams been a successful signing?

I am really interested in what you all perceive as being successful, so I don't want to put any criteria on it, just leave it open to you to interpret.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 May 2017 16:50:20
Yes I do, I know at times are defence has been questioned but overall it has improved and Williams was only short term 3 years especially as jags will probably leave after next season, but koeman knows a top centre half is going to cost big money so have to choose wisely personally I would like 2 CBs to come in a partnership that can be together for a while, won't get both but would love Van Dijk and Keane I think they would be great partnership but I think you be looking at maybe 80m for both.

Agree0 Disagree6

03 May 2017 17:02:19
I think he filled a hole. Solid enough defender. Succesful might be pushing it but he's done a job for us!

Ashley Williams has been a good signing he has helped the team and defence and been a consistent 7 out of 10 most games.

03 May 2017 18:45:29
Not convinced by him. Makes a fair few mistakes. Positional play isn't great and he's shocking on the ball. Looks scared whenever he receives it. Think nowadays you have to be better on the ball as a cb. Too many errors for me. I would say he's been dissappointing, especially as when he was at Swansea he looked like a top class player. Just my opinion tho.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 May 2017 19:47:54
A difficult one ed. He was 31 when we got him in August 2016 for a reported 12M pounds. An expensive stop-gap in my opinion. On one hand we would have had trouble this year if we had not got him in and he is a solid if not spectacular performer, on the other hand I don't see him being good enough if we have any pretense of wanting to get into the top four since at this stage of his career he is just too slow. A good back up for the next few seasons and a good player to have in the squad especially in being a role model for the younger center-backs.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2017 20:13:23
I think he was a worthwhile signing. At the time of signing we didn't have a great deal of options, no enticements to attract the real top drawer players and we needed to bring in some solid Premier League experience to stop the influx of goals against us last season.

Yes we all knew time was not on his side, but as a consistent performer for Swansea and on the back of a very impressive Euro's campaign for Wales, nobody can deny that they were happy to bring him to Goodison. There were a lot of fans from a wide range of teams who, at the time, would definitely have welcomed him to their team. Considering that, Koeman made the sensible decision that he could benefit us.

Over the season i believe he has had a few inconsistent games, a few howlers, and definitely some moments of madness that have cost us dearly, and due to this i wouldn't be at all surprised to see him replaced. But to give him his due, he has also had games where he has been rock solid and really given 100% effort to ensure clean sheets, which we've had plenty of this year. I in no way doubt his desire to do his best for the team which is admirable.

On balance, we have been better with him. Apart from perhaps Holgate who is a revelation, he is clearly our best CB. Until we can attract the higher quality we need then i think he deserves a place in the team. A small stepping stone on the road to improvement yes, but improvement nonetheless.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 May 2017 20:30:45
Me and degsy had this out a while back. I don't think he is a quality defender. He just seems prone to mistakes and being caught out. He can't shoulder all the blame for our conceding goals but he can't take all credit for clean sheets.

Rk is the one who tightened our defence up and I can see a few changes happening over the summer. More Intelligent and solid defenders brought in.

12mill for a 31 year old jorneyman was not good bussiness, particularly to partner a 34 year old that time was, unfortunatly, starting to show his age, think jags has been great and if he is prepared to be a bit part player off the bench, we owe him that much, but williams plus cash for sigison would be my deal.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 May 2017 05:44:38
12 mill for a journeyman who may still be in the 1st team in 2 seasons time may turn out good business. Especially when you compare with 6.5 mill for Kone and 13 mill for Niasse. We are already 11 points ahead of last season with 4 games to play. We have conceded 15 goals less. Yes Koeman and his organisation plays a part. Yes the emergence of Holgate has played a part. I believe the work rate of Davies has also played a part. But ask Koeman whether or not he built the foundation of the defence on Williams' experience and leadership qualities and I think you would find he would say that played a huge part of it. That's why we paid the big fee for him. That's also why Swansea are at the bottom this season and I am sure they would be interested in having him back. Remember too that he is Wales' captain. Wales did ok in the last international tournement. Only losing out closely to eventual winners Portugal in the semis. Williams has to take some credit for that too. I agree he is not the quickest. I agree he also makes mistakes. I agree he is slowing up. But like I said before, his contribution is more than just a player. His ability to organise, captain, lead and do what the manager wants must also be taken into consideration.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - what about Schneiderlin? Did he not bring defensive protection too?}

04 May 2017 11:46:19
IMO Williams was good signing and yes Schneiderlin did bring some defensive protection too we have an abundance of CM that provide good defensive cover with Barry, Besic, Davies, Gueye, McCarthy and Scheiderlin what we lack is a bit of creativity.

He's been good. Not sure what money has to do with it. If he improves us that is what counts.

Defense is never about an individual. In fact more players contribute and form part of this area than trying to score a goal. As we have clearly improved this year then he has been a success as part of that.

Holgate will come through Mori will come back but we need 1 or 2 additions with us being in Europe and replacement for Jags. Out of 10 I'd say 7.5.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 17:22:09
Bit late replying but yes Ed Schneids also a help. But they say the backbone of any team is the spine. And Williams is very much a part of that.

Interested to see who and what people's favoured realistic options would be if we made 8 signings over the summer.

For me - GK (Ruffier/ Horn) , Creative Mid (Tielemans/ Sigurdsson/ Fabregas) , Striker (Modeste/ Belotti) , Central Defender (Keane/ Maguire/ Jullien) , Right/ Left Back (Trippier) , is the minimum we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

03 May 2017 14:46:38
Belotti? Am I right in thinking that this is the same fella half the world is after who would probably cost is the amount we get for Rom?

I know modeste is having a good season but not sure on him. I'd prefer dolberg or sandro (although both of them would be hard to get) .

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2017 15:59:19
Realistically I think we would struggle to get 8 signings of the quality we need in one transfer window. I also think FFP will be a stumbling block and the fact we would need sell most of our unwanted players for a reasonable amount which I can't see happening. I imagine there are some players that we couldn't give away due to their wage demands, there are I suspect other players would be happy sitting on the bench or loaned to another club that we may not be able to shift. I think we need to have a more realistic long term view of how we are going to progress and not think it will happen in the summer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2017 17:26:25
Belotti? I think some of you lot are losing your marbles. 85mil release clause and has better options. I like lukaku but don't see Unt, Chelsea or PSG paying any more than 60-70mil for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2017 22:46:02
"Favoured realistic options". Then list about £250 million worth of players "as a minimum"! Get real! Can anyone think of any team ever, including those able to offer £200k/ pw and cl football, who made 7-8 top class signings in a single window? 2-3 good signings this summer will be success.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 May 2017 14:32:29
OK Belotti might be a bit hopeful but i did put him down 2nd! And IF Rom goes we will need to think big to replace him! Let's face it IF we lose Rom and Ross and Geri and offload Kone, McCarthy, Niasse, Valencia, McGeady, Barry? Jags? and we have Europa League then we NEED to replace these people at the very least. That was all I was trying to get across.

Fair enough Jules and it's fun to speculate 😁
We probably will need to fill a few places in the squad but realistically were going to have to prioritise where we pay big transfer fees and where we might have to make do a bit for now.
