I like Jags always have as a player and as a man but his statement sounds to me like a put up job. 3 games to go, the Leicester one this weekend is an irrelevance, then the two against Sunderland and Norwich and let's face it if this superb bunch of players cannot beat them then we do have a problem.

So Jags is determined to 'restore pride'.

Restore pride after the Derby and the shambolic defensive displays we've had to endure over countless months resulting in our worst home record in our history?

Hands up who will feel pride restored if we win next three games 10-0?

Respect you lad but quiet frankly fed up with the total rubbish you and your boss spout.

Some goal by Bale! Bit on the lucky side too. Our very own Besic doing a good job of refereeing!

Don't know who will be are next manager but I think it will be an experienced. coach hopefully a big name . With the amount of money coming into the club from TV deals possible transfers of players and maybe something from the new investment . Someone has got a major rebuild on there hands . I don't think the board will risk letting a novis manager spend there big bucks and think it will take a bit of a name to attract decent players when were not offering European football.

. so yesterday it was Benitez, today it's Koeman lol. we'll see - 1 thing for sure, if it's Koeman we'd certainly be better at taking free kicks, set pieces and corners as he was a master of it in his time on the pitch!

Not really a rumour but just read Everton turned down the chance to sign saul at athletic Madrid when he was 18. Shame as he's looking a class player and he's perhaps the type of centre mid we could do with.

If (when? ) Roberto Martinez leaves Everton this summer, then my preference at present is (if he was available) Ronald Koeman.
Even if you prefer someone else, is there anyone out there who wouldn't want him?

Hi eds, and all fellow fans

not been on for a while.
just heard that the board meeting held on Friday, was to discuss the fallen 1s post, voted 3 to 1 to keep him in his position until January 17, voted for him to stay was BK, JW, RE, Alexander Ryazantsev voting to remove him under Farhed orders. any truth in this

Thank.

{Ed002's Note - No. It sounds like the sort of nonsense that people put on Twitter for the extremely gullible fans. Board meetings do not sit and vote like it was considering someones membership at a golf club.}

04 May 2016 14:40:20
If, as reported, Mr Moshiri will increase his shareholding to become the majority (over 50%) shareholder - while BK (and maybe JW) not only reduce their shareholding, but also have less day-to-day involvement with the club and perhaps even cease to be directors - then why would the board retain any staff that are not favoured by Mr Moshiri and his associates? Besides, if there is a preferred replacement for manager - who would surely be someone in demand if he became available - then why would the club risk missing out?
It's all just rumour, speculation, guesswork and craic that's fuelled by social media and encouraged by broadcast/ press media. Only those at the top of the club - and any experts they're consulting - would have an inkling and I would expect all those involved to keep matters in confidence until the club is ready to state was has been agreed to take the club toward on all fronts, both on and off the field.
It's frustrating - and sometimes enraging - that we fans don't "know" what's happening, but on balance I prefer the club - and any experts/ consultants it's using - to be acting professionally and diligently and keeping their mouths shut rather than acting in a cavalier fashion and casually leaking stories to the media.
Am I being too understanding and accepting?

only what I heard, Ed2. I would prefer it sooner than that myself, Really tried to buy into his optimism when he 1st took charge but boy he has worn me down lol.

There is no evidence that Mr Martinez is leaving the Club in fact the opposite is true. All that has happened is that the media have (as usual) been playing with their abacus and gathered 2 and 2 make 5. Martinez would have to be thick or naive to conduct his interview with Carragher in the manner he did, if he had knowledge of his Managerial demise.

Watched Bayern against Madrid last night, good game of football. What was noticeable was the pressing game (especially in the first half) from Bayern. Not unlucky to lose but a very good side never the less and you could see why they win so often. My point is that to play the pressing game, as well as the high level of skill involved you also have to be very fit. Roberto likes his Teams to attack but concentrating on ball work without having the balance of supreme fitness, highlights the reason in my view why Everton cannot hold onto leads. If as now seems ever more obvious, Mr Martinez remains as Manager, I can only hope he is/ has (as lately he has maintained) learned from his and the Teams weaknesses and will take positive action in Pre-Season.

Don't hold your breath SHML.
Didn't 2 of our fitness coaches throw their hands in because Bobby wouldn't listen to them and their concerns about how unfit the team are. Even our head of medicine resigned.
I agree, I think a lot of us being unable to hold onto leads is due to fitness, and having no clue about how to defend, a bit of both. But that was obvious last season, never mind this.
I think for Bobby the 'pie in the sky' is just too high.

How is it obvious that he'll remain as manager, sorry? Is there anything i missed?

Hugo the Carragher interview was a clear club statement. He is staying.

Agree1 Disagree3

04 May 2016 13:04:48
I Clear statement he will not adapt to win games, not sure it was a club statement he is staying though. The board may well consider this interview as proof that if things don't go well next season he will stick to his guns and refuse to change. The board will then have to step in and admit they made a serious mistake. This may well be the straw that breaks the camels back.

Going to disagree with you there, Svenny, I understand your reasoning behind it, but it isn't the first time the club have been silent on these kind of issues. The reason Moshiri left Arsenal was because he had little say or influence on what was going on at boardroom level. He has a chance to do that at Everton now, he didn't invest in a club due to their mediocrity. He wants to win. He wants us to win. A few semi final runs won't cut it. He'll impose himself, like he rightly should.

sa90, do you really think they will give him next season. I hope not, another season in the wilderness I think. I'm 50 now and I want to see us win the Prem before I curl my toes up.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 May 2016 15:11:05
No Frank I actually think he will be gone at the end of the season. My point was more higlight another point of view from Svenny's assumption that he will stay due to the Carragher interview.

There is no evidence that Mr Martinez is leaving the Club this summer, indeed the opposite is true. The media have gone into overdrive on this yet again adding 2 and 2 and getting 5. Mr Martinez in his interview with Mr Carragher made statements that indicated all was well with the World, now why would he do that unless he had been given assurances.

The high pressing game is nothing new, and easier to use with a 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1 getting your strikers to close down quicker. Guardiola even used this tactic at Barcelona successfully not allowing other teams time to settle and play. Fitness is key as you work hard when you don't have possession, unfortunately RM does not want adjust to this gameplan.

{Ed025's Note - i will do my best ace, you and pb could be the new clough and taylor mate.. :)

Cant understand why there is a shortlist for the Everton managers job as far as i know we still have a manager. Until this board of ours either back him or sack him Martinez is basically being hung out to dry by the board. Now i am not a Martinez fan and want him gone i watched that video clip of him being heckled and intimidated by admittedly a small number of fans outside the ground i can't condone that at all, and i blame the board just as much for the fans total frustration in not making a statement on the managers situation.
