Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Is it just me or is Moyes a myth? He's had 10 seasons now. And his record reads 15th, 7th, 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th and 7th. That's an average of 8.5.

After 10 years in charge the team is 100% his. I know we had a few season finishing 5th and 6th but we were buying the likes of Johnson 9m, yak £11.5m felanni £16m.

After 10 years we should of had more than 1 cup final and a average finishing place of 8.5. Think when we have new owners maybe time for a new manager. 1 that can win something. {Ed025's Note - the thing you are forgetting, is that for most of the time, he has been operating on a shoestring budget!..i think he has done a great job considering...if he was to go..who would you want as a replacement?..

Believable2 Unbelievable4

But in the years he has worked on the shoe string we have been average or worse. I mean what manager finishes 17th and keeps his job? Although I agree that I can't see who would do a better job as things stand. But after 10 years with zero net spend look at wengers record. It's took him 15 years to lose the plot but picked up plenty of trophies on the way. Surly he not the only 1 capable of doing it {Ed025's Note - but they have built a fantastic stadium for the future, with the money..wenger is a great manager, i agree..

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes steered us to safety in his first season so 15th was a success,he has consistently put us in the top 7 on a shoe string budget and steered us to a few good cup runs. He has been amazing in the transfer market and i believe drenthe is his latest masterstroke. Moyes is a goodison legend {Ed025's Note - here here..

Agree0 Disagree0

No way mate, moyes has changed us from a side that used to aim for 40 points, play rubbish football, hoofing the ball to Kev Campbell and Big Dunc to a team that can play a bit of football, played european football 4 times out of the ten he been here, reached a semi final, reached a final and all this with no money !!! beat the likes of man united, chelsea, man city we have closed the gap considerably on liverpool that nowadays the bookies don't have them as favourites to win everytime they come to goodison and we aim for europe each season instead of 40 points and safety and have a realistic chance of winning a trophy, whereas before moyes people would laugh at the thought of us winning silveware, now though people take us a bit more serious !!
That's a massive turn around mate, if you can't see that then your crazy !

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, you want to do everything you can to keep Moyes. AT the end of the day he has NO money, what he does is amazing. You have a great squad, and at some point the players have to be held accountable for the way things go too. How many sitters have I seen Cahill miss on MOTD? Too many. He is a top level footballer, you simply do not get paid to miss from 8 yards. That is out of Moyes' hands. AT least you don't have what we have going on- a board who don't want to invest in the club, and who are happier finishing in 4th and winning no silverware, than pushing for the league and winning a cup after investing in the squad. I would love Moyes to come to Arsenal. We just sold Fabregas, Clichy and Nasri, 3 of the BEST players in their respective positions in the world, and our board led us to believe that the money would be put back into the squad immediately. This was balls, it was only when we fielded a reserves team against amn U and lost 8-2 after two other s**te games that the board decided to even contemplate investing. If you sold Rodwell, Osman, Baines, Jags and Arteta (not on deadline day) Moyes would inject every single remaining penny into strengthening the squad. You play great football, and it isn't his fault that you lose ridiculous games. 10 years ago you never had a squad this strong. I think the players need to look at themselves and decide that when they are being phased out of games, they're the ones who need to be making extra effort to press off the ball, and to move into space better in possession. Moyes is a legend, and if you don't want him we'll have him haha.
Raz

Agree0 Disagree0

Have a look at the 10 years before came and then say he's a myth. We wouldnt even be in the top flight without Moyes, never mind the top 10!

Yes......it is just you!

Barkley and drenthe could make this season very exciting for us tortured blues. Lets hope the new striker turns out to be a shrewd one as well, moyes has apparantly been scouting him for a while

Bez the Blue {Ed025's Note - lets hope so bez..

We need to play 4-4-2 and try something different and try and murder villa. Unless if we play cautious again, it starts feeling like deja vu from the past couple of seasons were we only find our goalscoring form around crimbo. I am strangely confident about saturday and excited about the lad drenthe.

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - cant see it though bez..4-5-1 seems to be his preferred set up..

Howard
Neville Heitinga Distin Baines
Barkley Fellaini Bilyaletdinov Drenthe
Saha Denis

What do you think ed?? {Ed025's Note - i like the look of that......but if coleman is fit...he should play..

Believable0 Unbelievable1

No jags? {Ed025's Note - i take it all back....have a re-think about that team mate...

Agree0 Disagree0

What's wrong with Osman? Raz {Ed025's Note - its got to be the worst team ever.....lol..

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know who is fit or who plys exactly where, but this is my team for you:

Howard
Coleman, Jags, Heitinga/Distin, Baines
Drenthe, Osman, Bilyaletdinov, Barkley
Saha, Denis (wtf is Denis haha)

Was gonna go 433 but your Fullbacks esp Baines go forward really well.

You should spank Villa fo' sho'

Raz the Gooner. {Ed025's Note - nice try raz...but no felli?.....its a no win situation....someone has to be left out..

Agree0 Disagree0

Im hoping it is:
Howard
Neville Jags Distin Baines
Coleman Fellaini Barkley Drenthe
Cahill
Saha/Denis

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope thats the line up as well, but knowing moyes it will be

Howard
Hibbert Jagielka Distin Baines
Neville Fellaini Heitinga Osman
Cahill
Anichebe

Bez the blue

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, Fellaini is so unreliable IMO, so for me he'd be on the bench. Osman was outstanding last season. You've brought in Drenthe and he would deffo start for me. Bilyaletdinov seems to be able to score from the halfway line, and Barkley seems dangerous. Rodwell to come off the bench for whoever's having a bad day.
Guys, gimme a ring if Moyes decides to leave yeah?

I don't know if drenthe will play on saturday. I'm not sure if he's played much football lately so he may need a bit of training first. Maybe he'll be subbed on later. {Ed025's Note - fair point mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm sure he'll play against Villa, it's not like we'd have better options on the wings rusty or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes rarely starts new recruits, they have to earn their spurs in training. Part of his philosophy. I agree with it, as it happens. {Ed025's Note - lack of options may force his hands though..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think moyes will emphatise with the fans and know we need a lift, so even if drenthe isnt 100% up to speed he will start because hes the type of player who gets fans excited. {Ed025's Note - i dont think pleasing the fans is his prime objective...otherwise he would play 4-4-2..

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he plays 4-4-2 as well, we need to really kick start our season!! If we can get a good result against villa then the match after against wigan will seem very winnable

Agree0 Disagree0

I would like to see drenthe give villa a taste of there own medicine with a speedy counter attack!

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been crying out for a winger for ages and this lad sounds the business. I had forgot what it was like to get excited about a signing, there is no denying we have a quality defence and midfield, i don't know about up front, that remains to be seen

Bez the Blue {Ed025's Note - lets hope denis can do the business..

Hi everyone,

Just want to say I've been reading some stuff on here and all I will say is keep the faith. You have a fantastic squad and it's anyone's guess how you aren't in Europe.
Players that could easily play for teams in Europe:
Howard, Baines, Jags, Distin, Neville, Coleman, Osman, Rodwell, Drenthe, Saha.

I don't understand why you seem to have such odd results against rubbish teams but if you can find some solidarity and maintain your good form then there is o reason why you can't get into Europe this season.

I can't understand why you sold Beckford, but I am glad you sold Arteta as I am an Arsenal fan. In my ideal world the league would finish us first and you 2nd. You have a great manager too and a great fan base, I wish you all well for this season and I am keeping everything corssed for your team, please please PLEASE get into Europe.

Raz (Gooner with a hint of toffee hahaaaaa)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Nice one raz, i have always seen arsenal as a bit of a cockney everton. 2 teams with a bit of class and tradition about them

Agree0 Disagree0

There must be few of you about cos a good mate of mine in work is a cockney gooner but has had a season ticket for the blues for a few years...and is now as bitter as the rest of us. I will always love the best little spaniard and hope he does well for you. (Wavertee Blue) {Ed025's Note - well said wavo...you know....we are a lot of fans second team...people seem to like us, and thats why we are,,,THE PEOPLES CLUB....

Agree0 Disagree0

And that's why we have been in the top flight the longest.. and that's why when the football wheel of life comes back around..as it one day will..we will get the success that our wonderful old club and unique set of supporters deserves..COY FXCKING B!!!! (Wavertree Blue) {Ed025's Note - well said wavo...your the second most bitter blue i know....me being No 1..

Hi guys, I am a Gooner who comes in peace.

You are my 2nd favourite club, and Arteta is my fav player outside of an Arsenal kit, and I met him in Liverpool last year, I cannot believe he has come to us.

How do you Blues feel about it? Are there bad feelings or not?

The main thing I wanted to ask was how come you sold Beckford? He is a great striker IMO, didn't see enough of him last season and you're lacking up front. How come he was sold?

Right now I reckon you pretty well have a squad as good as ours, if you don't make Europe this year I will be so annoyed.

Peace
Raz {Ed025's Note - we all wish mikel well, he was a great player for us, even though over the past couple of seasons, injuries have taken their toll, and i think £10 mil was a fair price. beckford i think done ok for us, but i dont think moyes was his biggest fan, but we got £4 mill for someone we got on a free, so not bad business...as for europe both of our clubs will have an uphill task...

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha that's true Ed, very true. Wilshere's out for 2-3 months now as well, we Gunners are still in shock after this summer. 8 injuries and 3 suspensions, and our biggest dicking to date, after the sale of 3 first team players. These new signings better come good.

Didn't realise Beckford was on a free....fair dos. Maybe you'd be interested in Chamakh in January? Haha. Btw Ed025 are you an Everton fan?

Cheers, Raz {Ed025's Note - the biggest and biased you will ever meet raz,,

Agree0 Disagree0

Arteta will be a success and suit arsenals style of play if he can keep himself fit. As for everton we are strong in the midfield department. I think we have lots of options and with the emergence of barkley and the signing of drenthe, i think there is plenty of life after arteta.Good luck mikel at arsenal, hopefully everton can somehow sneak into the europa league {Ed025's Note - well said mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I agree, Drenthe is immense, really hope he lifts you all. I don't want to offend by saying this but I was really surprised you managed to sign him, but only because I don;t know much about him but thought he was a superstar haha. Btw do you not think it would have been better given your striker situation to keep Beckford and play him as much as possible, then sell him for 6m or so in January? Or even more? So bizarre he's just gone without a fuss, maybe Moyes really hated him.

I agree about Arteta, he may have gone but Osman was your best player last season and he and Rodwell can now play all the time, your midfield is great. Awesome to see Heitinga score for Holland btw, quality.

As i understand it, Lord granchester, whilst not on the board, is still a major shareholder. Givern that he is one of the wealthest men in the country, why has he not been approached for help with short term funding, and, if he has, and declined to help, then he has demonstrated his lack of interest, he should do the right thing and put his shares on the market. WHY are the local press not asking these sort of questions, givern the clubs dire financial situations ?

Everton 2 -1 Aston Villa 1......... Osman and Cahill....... get that bet on !!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

I am quite confident about saturday. I can't wait to see the two new lads play and hopefully have coleman back as well. I hope barkley starts again has he has been great so far in every game. Lets just hope it is an improvement on the last couple of league performances. {Ed025's Note - i think roy will start but i dont know if denis will..

Agree0 Disagree0

I am confident of getting at least 4 points from the next two games and getting ourselves further up the table. I can't wait to see more of barkley and drenthe as well

Bez the blue {Ed025's Note - 4 points?????..im expecting 6...and no less!..

vic injured now, alls we are left with is saha and denis, would anybody take E.H. diouf? I would

Believable0 Unbelievable6

Diouf?!, F*** OFF

Agree0 Disagree0

No, he only managed 4 goals in 60 for Blackburn. I'd prefer to push Vellios and Baxter up the pecking order.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't stand diouf

Agree0 Disagree0

Diouf is not good enough and he is trouble, moyes will get another decent striker in January with some of the arteta money {Ed025's Note - your right about the scum bag diouf...on your last point..dont get your hopes up..

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2011 16:50:54
Despite the flight of arteta, we have a young team with some talent. Drenthe on the left and coleman on the right can really make some danger to other teams. At the midfield with touching players like osman, barkley or rodwell we should dominate the midfield. Then at the top we have lack of talent, because saha is out the most part of the time, and vellios and stracky needs some experience but probably can do good performances. With this team we can get the 7th or the FA cup (haha)!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If it all clicks with the new players i believe we can have a good season. I wish we could be more adventurous at times and pay 4-4-2. IMWT

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe we don't have any strikers that can play the lone role, we would be better off playing 2 up front. I believe the 2 new additions can kick start our season. Moyes will hopefully buy another striker in january with some of the mikel money, i don't think we need another midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2011 15:22:00
I think people have underestimated moyses' signing drenthe. he's only contacted at madrid only until the end of his contract with us; if he fits in he's available for us to sign permenantly, if not than moyes hasnt let any transfer money go to waste

Believable3 Unbelievable0

But if he's superb other clubs will muscle in

Agree0 Disagree0

Or we could see at january, then pre-agree a contract with him?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2011 13:47:49
we should give yobo to fenerbache on a free if he is happy to go. He is never going to play and to release him without a club we’d have to pay up his contract.
This just shows that I was exactly right when I said the last contract we gave him was simply ridiculous. Complete lunacy,
paying top dollar for rank mediocrity…nuts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think fenerbache have signed a defender as well, so that doesn't bode well for getting rid of him. We need to get him off the wage bill as he won't get any time on the pitch

Yeah - a soft spot for us as long as we don't threaten your cosy stitched cartel in any way. UEFA rules need a shake up to stop united n city winning everything for the next 50 years - it's a total joke now how 2 or 3 clubs have everything stitched up thanks to the champions league payment system

If these guys score this many goals this season we could have decent shout for 6-7th place
Saha(when fit)=12 goals
denis=12
Cahill=8
Bains(mostly free kicks and penalties)=7
Billy(all screamers)=5
Osman=5
Central defenders on corners free kick=5
Others ,og,etc=6
Total=60
And fewer goals conceded than last year of 45
Cheers COYB

Believable4 Unbelievable0

6-7th is realistic, i think our 2 new players will fit in well and we should have coleman, gueye and saha playing again very soon

Saha: 11
Cahill - 13
denis - 5

distin - 2
jags - 1
hibbert - 1
coleman - 5

There should be a standing ovation for this little Spaniard when he returns.

His comments after leaving us should be contrasted with a certain other 'blue' (Rooney) - class and dignity personified.

Rooney, though he has now talked well about everton, he never when he left.... take note Mr. Rooney and learn something.

Take a bow Mikel, I for one will miss you. {Ed025's Note - me too..

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Spot on !!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Given the way he has spoken about the blues in the last 12-18 months, it appears Rooney has learned from past mistakes. I've forgiven him now, just let it go!

If you read my post back, i wrote "though he has now talked well about everton, he never when he left.
I clearly explained that he now has grown up and speaks well of everton, but when he left he never !!!!!!!!!!!!

Fellaini has never played to his peak with Arteta in the side. When Arteta was long-term injured Fellaini’s performances were terrific – ‘best midfielder in the league’ – remember that from Moyes?
Then Arteta returned as substitute to a great ovation, and Fellaini subsided into the bit-part player he can be. Why? Because Arteta demanded the ball, and got what he wanted. And – as with the free-kicks and penalties – Arteta got his own way. Arteta is a very strong character, which Fellaini isn’t – yet. Things should have moved on but again Mikky found it hard to let go on the pitch. {Ed025's Note - some good points you make pal....but i think you need your computer fixing..

The 5-year contract at £75k per week was an unaffordable mistake by a cash-strapped club for a player who has never reached his pre-injury heights, and whose best was gradually receding into the past. Kenwright and Moyes were confusing their respect for him with his five-year value to the club. I believe that Arteta came to see it this way and was troubled to be on this contract while Everton could barely buy a match ball, and this made him feel that the transfer made sense all round.
The club in crisis on Wednesday was Arsenal, not Everton, making a panic move due to the failure of their youth strategy and the excessive pricing of ‘marquee’ players; Arteta was well down their wish-list. They have to qualify for the Champions League and they knew they wouldn’t with their existing squad. They’ve bought for the short-term in a desperate hope of CL qualification. Probably a forlorn hope, so enjoy it this year Mikky, and the best of luck, I’ll be shouting for you. You may be past your best but at least you’ll bring some determination to a feeble-minded squad.

Let's get over ourselves boys & good riddance to any player who doesn't want the honour of wearing a blue shirt. I've seen better players than this little spanish "saint" leave the club and we're still here. He sacrificed himself for the sake of the club....... give me a break.
He did this for one person, and one person only. He's manufactured this move, and anyone at the Blackburn game could tell something was on the cards from his body language, as it was the talk of all blues around us.

He's been edging towards the exit door for the past few years, and but for the injury he'd have been well gone by now, and let's remember that he only stayed because we paid him a king's ransom that we couldn't afford. So let's save our support for those who truly deserve it... those still wearing our club shirt with pride.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

04 Sep 2011 09:57:14
Arteta. Nice player but his best days are behind him since the injury... (I wish I hadn't said that as he'll probably come back and haunt us now when we play the Arse this season.)
By far the bigger miss has been Pienaar, whose link with Baines was our best attacking threat. We should go back to Harry and rescue him from the splinters he's getting on the bench at the Lane. Besides, it looks as if they are nearly as skint as we are. {Ed025's Note - no one is as skint as us....but i would not have peanuts back..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed i do think we miss pienaar, him and baines were awesome down the left, so telepathic ! {Ed001's Note - he was an excellent player for the club to be fair to him, way he left leaves a bad taste in the mouth though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2011 09:29:26
Arteta was a shadow of what he once was imo. Hopefully Drenthe will more than make up the loss of Arteta's creative skills, if only for one season. {Ed025's Note - i think arteta will be a big miss..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Sep 2011 09:09:56
Its not the end of the world that arteta is gone lads !
He was a great player but he'snot here, EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB 1878 TO PRESENT DAY...... MIKAEL ARTETA 2005-2011 !!
We move on, we haven't lost much, 1 midfielder out 1 midfielder in (Drenthe) Yakubu didn't play, Beckford replaced by Straqualersui (which is a slight risk)
I think we will be ok. If we finish in the top half this season, i think with our debt almost halved investment could be incoming, and a bright future is ahead.
Hopefully this time next year, we have that investment plus..... Barkley, Rodwell, Coleman, Gueye, Vellios, Bilyaletdinov, Straq, Drenthe and Fellaini all young players !
With the likes of Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Cahill, Osman, Hibbert, Neville and Saha we have a great mix of youth, class and experience.
WE ARE EVERTON, PLAYERS COME AND PLAYERS GO BUT THE CLUB WILL AND FANS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE, Good luck to arteta but its time for us to crack on, got a good feeling we will a trophy this year {Ed025's Note - great post mate...i enjoyed that..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Good post and i agree, the only problem is, the list of player's you have mentioned.......... No doubt in there ability, my concern is, thats 17 players, including Howard, thats 18 players in the squad, after them 18 there is not more that could come in and do a good job for us !
When we get our usual injuries of 4 or 5 key player's, what do we do then ??
We need more bodies in january

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2011 09:04:50
free agent el hadji diouf will sign for everton before friday, moyes thinks he can get the best out of the fella, gives the team a bit more pace on the wings to go with drenthe and can play up top too {Ed025's Note - you must be joking lad....hes crap...and a horror bag to boot..

Believable0 Unbelievable4

I hope not !!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not even if he was the last footballer on the planet. Moyes would NEVER go anywhere near him. Very few managers would. I reckon he'll end up at West Ham, they seem to be signing every free agent in the world!

Will Billy finally be given his chance in the centre? and also we shall wait and see in January whether all of that money will go to the banks or not, personally, I believe we will have enough to make one permanent signing(hopefully Donovan) I just think after the sales and incomings, Our team and club behind the scenes is in a better state. Why don't we stay positive and look forward to seeing how our new signings get on? We already know drenthe is a good player

COYB!

Believable3 Unbelievable0
