West ham at home next. Let's hope we don't everton it and end west hams losing streak 🤣.

Agree Smit or we'll have people calling for Pellegrino as boss!

Let's hope we finally get to see Mina and Gomez in action and more time from Bernard.

I'm disappointed with only unbeaten and 6 points but still optimistic for our future.

That points average would have us 7th last season. Only a slight improvement would mean top 6 and I think we've been unlucky so far.
Let's hope our bad luck has gone for the season.

I agree. When you think we have Richarlison to come back from suspension and Mina, Gomes and Bernard to recover from injuries and become key members of the squad we can only improve in my opinion.

And that's without Lookman getting his act together and Jimmy Mac back in October.

Are you being real? Judging league positions against last season after 4 games? I agree as a team (when we had more first choices out playing) that we look loads better than recent seasons but judging league positions is crazy! Does it not matter who we played? How many injuries we have/ had? Crazy!

Don't think its that crazy degsyp. I think Smit666 was just assessing how we have done so far. We can only go by what has happened so far. Everything else is hearsay.

The squad does look like it will improve with those coming back. Pity we didn't make better use of the kind start we got in terms of fixtures. Still in the real world this is the sort of thing that happens.

I was not a big fan of all the stats that were coming out last year when Sam was in charge, making out we were a good side so I agree to a certain extent with degsy

What I was agreeing with Smit on was that we do look a lot better than we did last year, still have players to come in that can make us stronger and we are still currently in a good position and can only improve in my opinion

Erm Degsy you were giving Silva just 5 games to convince you he was the man to be our manager!

Aside from that I don't have any real expectations for this season other than progress in our football and a promise of what can come next season.

I'm not surprised predictions are being made about where we will finish this season. Last season we were getting relegated after 6 games according to some. At least they are positive predictions this season.

If you read it correctly Degsy I was averaging the points per game, not league positions. Also with a tongue in cheek reply.

I, like the poster above will eagerly await your 5 game assessment of our club and cross my fingers you sign off on Silva. Now that my friend is CRAZY.

All I was saying is that looking at league positions after 5 games can give you an idea of where you are but actually stating that we were in "X" position last season and we are "X+1" position this year is much too simplistic a deduction to make to prove improvement. But I agree you would have to be pretty thick not to see the obvious improvement in the squad. We are creating chances. We aew pressing. We are just a little untidy at defending set pieces so far.

Don't think we are vastly improved. Look a little more balanced need another RW and if this zonal marking doesn't get picked up Mr Silva needs a plan B. Set pieces look the same problem as last season also. Realistically we are thereabouts we have been with last three Managers first season boost. Better judgement will come January.

Good piece of news coming out this morning, Jimmy Mc is closing in on a return in October, excellent news for us.

I agree, very good news and hopefully he can have an injury free run 👍.

As long as he doesn't get called up by Ireland.

Be good to have him in the team again hopefully after the international break we see some more players fit and the squad looks better than it's been in a while.

Martin O’Neil will be on this like a tramp on chips.

What are the odds of him playing for Ireland before he plays for us again.

The more fit quality players we have, the better. We have seen what happens even with 5 or 6 center backs when injuries and suspensions happen. We also saw it last season with the full back positions and left side of midfield! Our squad now has some balance and some cover. The manager just needs to have a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions clearing up and maybe then we can see what his strongest team (whatever that is) can do.

Will be good to see him back but let's not put too much expectation on him early on.
Agree with Smit - O'Neill and Kean will already have him in their squad. I hope he does not rush back for them and instead puts his fitness first
There's a few others also getting close to fitness (I hope) and it will be very interesting once these can be integrated (and given time to bed in) into Silva's team.

For most people its the "Luck of the Irish" for Evertonians it seems to be the "Curse of the Irish".
