With all the talk about this Umbro deal saying £35m, surely as a business we would make the deal based on our success and performance just like a player gets. £5m - a season if we stay in premier league, £1m extra a season if we win a domestic trophy. £2m extra if we qualify for champs league and so on. Just a thought!

Hey
Beckham has just announced his new Miami franchise and in the press conference he referred to it as the 'Peoples Club'. Only one 'Peoples Club' imo. I wonder if we acquired a patent? Ok not a rumour, just a bit of fun.

Del Boy and Coleman back for Sunday! I would play Del Boy (if he's ready) up top!
Howard
Coleman jags distin baines
Barry mcarthy
Mirallas barkley pienaar
Del Boy
Plenty of passing and moving no long balls! Well a few would be ok for mirallas and del to chase! If not working then change it around a bit, maybe traore is fit enough for 30/40 mins, could stick mirallas up top and bring off del put mgeady on! Or most likely is del will start on bench! But we will have plenty of pace in the attacking third! Looking forward to Sunday!
Happy with the umbro deal and even more happy with the way the club involved the fan! Nice touch! What a club we support! :-)
Think naisy will start up top.his and bobbys preferred position.drl boy prob on bench.
Delefeou would be a terrible striker
Wouldn't be terrible at all quinny, maybe not as a lone striker but in a 442 he would decent, fast and tricky would cause defenders all sorts of problems!
As a lone striker he wouldn't be able to hold the ball up or run at people in space, in a 442 he would basically play as a 10 not a striker. Naismith should start against spurs see if he has any chance of being the player he was in Scotland.
05 Feb 2014 22:17:39
think he'd be more of a second striker rather than a full 4-4-2 formation
Got say that mirrallas will start up top and barkley behind with naismith coming in were needed, I know kev scored a wonder goal but he needs to play a lot better upfront come sunday because he wasnt great, starting runs offside over and over again is prob the reason he dosnt play there naturally
06 Feb 2014 09:15:43
or we could just play naismith up front in his proper position with kev on the wing?

Just read a story that Chico Flores (Swansea City) might be a target for us. I'll support RM in whoever he brings to the club, but I cannot believe that we'd let a cheating, diving, injury-faking person like Flores into our club.
05 Feb 2014 18:43:26
You may have misunderstood it Kev, looks like the Spain manager is going to scout him at Everton mate when we play the Swans

All the postings about the kit deal are entertaining. So are the posts about the club's other commercial income (lack of) and the need for a modern, income-generating stadium.
Likewise the posts about qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and the money that would give us.
The bottom line is that we must stay in the Premier League because that's where we get the bulk of our income - from the TV deal. Everything thing else we earn helps, but without that TV money we'd be well and truly sunk.
It's good for the fans to be ambitious - especially supporting a club with our history and fanbase - but the club's own in-house FINANCIAL planning must be based on finishing 17th (just above relegation) and going out of the cups in the initial round and no European qualification. Anything better than that is pure expectation and any extra funds can then be given to squad strengthening. Football might be a game, but the financial aspects are not. Just look at all the other clubs panicking about being in the relegation scrap and replacing their managers. Look at those other clubs with massive debts or reliance on sugar daddies that treat the clubs as playthings - is that what you want? BK might not have the personal wealth and he might be wanting too much money to sell the club, but he's not been one to panic when we've had setbacks along the way. I fully expect RM to be given every available penny for players - even if we only have a limited amount.
Without stability we'd be doomed.
{Ed025's Note - good post that POD..

So, Michael Laudrup has been sacked by Swansea City. A good first season - that had many of our posters clamouring for him to replace DM - has been followed by him being "found out" this season. No excuses about injuries or Europa League (Thursday night) football please - it's up to the manager to deal with those. Perhaps he should have taken a big European job that was apparently on offer at the end of last season. Aren't you glad that BK appointed RM as our manager?
I've read many times that a football manager's likely success is defined by his recruitment policy - who he signs, who he releases, who he keeps, who he brings through. Whatever the tactics and formations, it's ultimately the players on the pitch showing character as well as talent that win football matches. On that basis, RM has done well so far in my humble opinion, but it's only his first season with us. Where we finish this season will be a good sign of the potential, but a good Summer to continue building the squad is vital. Then how we perform (and the results we get) next season - his second at Everton - will be where the real test will be. Add in the possible loss of his long-term assistant, Graeme Jones, (who's being touted for the Swansea job) and RM will have quite a job to challenge the monied clubs.
I would say his sacking is more to do with long term stability than on his performance. I think he was off in the summer to pastures new and it was a case of you are not dumping me I'm dumping you mentality from Swansea
{Ed025's Note - i think laudrup has flaws in his personality svenny, he seems very moody to me..
05 Feb 2014 08:56:54
Think you've been a bit harsh on laudrup there kev. I am going to point to key players being injured, notably their main playmaker and goalscorer roled into 1: michu. He has had little if any financial backing and the 1st time results don't go their way he's given the boot. If roberto was to lose his wingman to swansea, I for one would welcome bk and rm approaching laudrup to join our management as rm's number 2.
By my reckoning - based on figures available on the Internet - Swansea have a net spend of about £20 million on transfers this season. (Bony was£12m, Shelvey £6m, plus others.) That's hardly "little or any financial backing" in my book. As for the loss of Michu, that's been bad for them, but we've had plenty of key players out injured during the season and we've coped reasonably enough apart from the derby defeat. Also, Laudrup's long-term commitment was questionable, so the Swansea ownership had a tough situation to consider. I don't see it in the same light as other clubs' owners making panicky management decisions and/or strange commercial decisions. Any club that gave RM the opportunity to develop his managerial skills and a way of playing is OK in my eyes ;-)
Your off your head if you think Laudrup would even consider becoming part of our coaching team. He wouldn't even consider becoming our manager in the summer remember, so what makes you think he would consider a coaching role I don't know, and and anyway I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club as the man has got issues.
I couldn't help, thinking he looked thoroughly fed up in a recent post match interview - like all the enthusiasm had gone from his job and he looked down and out - his body language and the way he spoke looked like he was giving up on it mentally
I know what poeple are saying but imagine we never got rom in on loan and had no main striker, plus it would seem the dreaded europa has took its toll on another small squad, you don't go from playing good football last year and winning a cup to being a bad manager, yet its football so no doubt he will be back threw the revloving door of anuva club for more money
05 Feb 2014 06:45:11
I just want to say re summer transfer targets, it's not just about having the cash to buy players like Delboy and Lukaku those players and their parent clubs have to want the move as well. We could have 200 million to spend but if we are up against other clubs such as Barca and Chelsea who are guaranteed CL football as well as trophies just because we may want them does not mean we will get them.
I imagine in January funds did not really play a part in the issues it's about finding players who can improve the squad that want to join us. That is a small pool of players in my opinion.
We love everton and I think sometimes we get blinded by our passion for the club and fail to understand why other teams would be more attractive to a player
We don't (at present) have the money to pay the really big fees for top players.
We don't (at present) have the money to pay the really big wages for top players.
We don't (at present) have Champions League football to attract the really top players.
We are keeping our better players on extended and improved contracts.
We are challenging for European qualification.
We are playing attractive football that is showing a good combination of attacking excitement and (apart from the derby) defensive capability.
We have some good prospects coming through at U-21 and U-18 level that might save us having to look too much outside the club for quality players.
So, while I think your post is good, Svenny, I'm going further and adding some accentuating of the positive.
04 Feb 2014 23:53:35
Not bothered its umbro as long as the design and the money is right is 35m enough for future Champions?
I don't think we're actually getting anything, we still have 5 years of the kitbag deal to go. We just get cheap shirts. The money umbro would have paid will go straight to kitbag not Everton. So it's as you were unless/until Everton announces differently.
The good thing about Umbro is that our heritage range of clothing will now include the diamonds. We will probably be able to get the 1970's shirts that Latchford et al wore and even the one with the EFC in slanty writing our first shirt to bear any logo for years. I am going to have the Bob Latchford League Cup Final 1977 on order, my first cup final and I managed to get pissed on the coach, which I thought good for a 12 year old.
Come
on, who can remember Ronny Goodlas or Dave Thomas tearing down the wing with the Umbro sign running down their arm, iconic for me. Umbro the football kit makers!
Exactly umbro was big in its england days etc, not no more, its not fashinable and to be honest I didn't even know it was still going, I suspect this deal has something to do with the kitbag deal in place, hampering other oppertunities
