It is not easy as we finished in the bottom half of the table and we are trying to sighn players who expect to play in Europe.
It will take time to correct the damage done by the incompetent one.

I'm loving it and other clubs don't like it. Everton being told there only joining for money. Ok what's ye point it's nice to be know we have money I hope everyone hates us haha.

What do you all reckon on giving jonjoe kenny his chance as are back up rb this season. We clearly need cover and if we go out and sign someone it will only hinder his development. I'd give him a shot if it was me.

Id have that like. send holgate or jones out on loan, pennington, connolly and browning as back ups.

Lukaku's agent is not having a bad summer. Likely big pay rise for Rom and nice percentage. Ibrahimovic to Man U, another useful fee. I think he represents Pogba as well. God knows the slice if he moves.

05 Jul 2016 17:09:41
Delighted i'm not sure he should have been tried on media coverage. That's like a new signing we might actually play with 2 quality strikers. It's great being loaded for a change:)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 17:20:17
Its hard to know exactly what is the deciding factor for these players. There has to be something to Lukaku not being happy but no one really knows, only him, his father and his agent. The press are just speculating and doing what they do best.

All the hype could of been formulated by Lukaku his agent and father to get a bigger deal. He may of genuinely wanted to leave. Who knows which it is or what the real reasons he wanted to leave. No one knows what made him change his mind to stay.

All I know is if he signs a new contract he's obviously happy to stay for whatever reason. That will do me.

All I want is for Everton to do well and maybe win a trophy. Anything that contributes to that is very welcome. Lukaku staying will contribute imho. That obviously makes me happy.

If we can build on the squad we have the future is very, very bright. As we have a good core of top young players.

Its all good imho. Can't wait for mid August. I feel like a child again with a born again enthusiasm with the future we have ahead of us. I'm one ecstatic Evertonian. How the last 3 months has transformed our club. It's amaze balls!

Agree0 Disagree2

05 Jul 2016 15:42:58
It seems, Lukaku is going to sign a new contract, if he's 1oo% committed, that's fine, but it should have a provision for him, his dad, and his agent to keep their mouth shut, this is EVERTON, it's not a stepping stone for anyone.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - You cannot put such things in to contracts.}

05 Jul 2016 16:12:19
How about a mandated "tip jar" in the training room? If Rom, Rom-dad, or Rom-agent speak to the press or tweet, a pocket full of coins are deposited in said jar.

At the end the season, the whole lot is donated to Rom's charity of choice.

Everybody wins.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 16:16:39
You can put what ever clause you like into a contract, then its up to who ever is signing it to say they don't want that clause in, then negotiations start.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am sorry, neither his agent nor his father are signatories to his contract and they sure as hell are not bound by any clauses in someone else's contract.}

Hi all,
I see everybody is getting hung up on transfer fees for players we haven't even signed yet. Why are you letting something like this bother you? Surely the fees and other costs is only a concern for the board to consider and as fans we should just enjoy the associated players. I am thrilled to be in the running for Mata, Witsel, Grosicki, et al and whether a player costs £1 or £50 mil makes no difference. Just enjoy the window and don't let finances ruin it for you.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

05 Jul 2016 13:05:49
spot on mate, not arsed what they cost or "are they worth the money", who cares not our money, if Ron wants them and we get them i'm a happy Blue.

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Jul 2016 13:27:45
I think it is because of our passion for the club, we have had years of hope and a desire to do well. It has been instilled into us all to be frugal, The one thing we all like is a bargain, if a player joins us on the cheap then we are all happy and talking about it, the same has to be said if we think some players are over valued and we feel we are paying over the odds.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 13:45:25
Sorry I know it's not my money, but it is MY club and as a scouser I don't like getting ripped off by anyone. Anyway IMO Witsel is a good player but not worth 30 million. I feel there better options out there for our first marque signing. Now Man U targets that's a different Mata!

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Jul 2016 14:09:40
Have to agree with Grumpytoffee and Hrowblue on this one. I do fully intend to enjoy the summer and next season. The thing about the money is clubs can get suckered into giving way over the odds. By doing that they put the long term status of the club in jeopardy. We all know the clubs we're talking about, Leeds and more recently Villa and Newcastle. Villa have a very rich history like Everton and I pride myself on that.

It is fantastic with this investment and future. I'm not overly cautious with things as our new owner and co seem well capable to keep the club progressing. Degsypulford is one poster who seems overly cautious. Not having a pop Degsy, it is what it is. Who knows with time you might be right.

I don't think our future is doubtful. Imho it is very bright. At the same time I wouldn't be splashing the cash like there is no end to it. I don't care how rich or clever Moshiri is there is always an end to money. Tend to get there a lot quicker if you spend too much, too quickly and too unwise.

Imo the future is fantastic at the same time I would still be cautious with money. It is a business after all and the more profit the better. It keeps the club at the top being wise with the money. No doubt something that is nothing new to Mr Mishori.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 15:04:40
I too talk a fair bit about the price of the players we sign/ are linked with and i think its for the same reason. i'm very passionate about the club (as are we all) and would like the club to do the best they can hence my worry about the players and finance etc.

Nil Satis Nisi Optimium lads, let us be a little sceptical ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 18:58:41
No offence taken NBTB. Yes I am overly cautious. I have been involved in football for a while and have eveen recommended a player for our blues only to be ignored and the player eventually signed for the reds! Anyway, I know that if you set your targets too high and do not achieve them, it can lead to unrest and demotivate everyone within a club. the last 3 years is a pointer to what I mean. The club can then spiral and one bad thing leads to another. So the best way is to set achievable targets. Dare I say realistic ones. Then, if you are looking like you are going to achieve your original target, then you increase the ambition at that point. ie I feel that people talking about Champions League qualification at this point are being overly optomistic. A more realistic target would be to go for top half. If we look like we are going to achieve that, then maybe we then say top 6. Then if that is looking on. then maybe then. Champions League. If we start saying Champions League now and lose a few games, then everyone involved in the clib suddenly start blaming this player and that player. and saying that Koeman was the wrong man etc. Yes I know Leicester City won the league, but Ranieri did exactly what I am saying. His first target was 40 points and survival. He then increased it to mid table etc. So far we have not signed any real brilliant players that are going to make a difference on lasst season. But yes we have a new maanager. let's see what effect he has on tactics and motivation and I will certaainly be hoping for more than mid table if we win 4 of our firsst 5 games.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 20:37:40
Degsy I knew you had it in you. Positivity! I agree wholeheartedly. Negativity breeds negativity and if targets aren't met frustration sets in.

I was thinking of Leicester as I was reading your post just before you mentioned them. I agree with you on pretty much everything there. A realistic and not overly ambitious target I think is 8th to start off with. Imho that's at least our position with a good manager with the same squad of players.

Add in a few additions to our new manager and hopefully we end up a few positions higher. There is a lot of competition at the top now. Top 4 is as hard to break into than ever. What odds would you of got that Leicester and Spurs would be in top 4 this time last season?

I mean that in a way that it is hard to get into top 4. Anyway nice to see a positive post from you Degsy. You were improving your targets as you went on with your post. Hopefully that's the way next season goes.

I wouldn't be doing a Man City and spending money left right and centre. Just look at Rodwell and Lescott we sold them. What did we get round £50m for them. Both didn't stay with them too long and how much of the money did they recover when selling them on? A fraction.

A more Arsenal type approach would do me. Very smart business men at Arsenal. As far I know a profit made every year along with qualifying for CL. All done shrewdly with little waste of money. Some of that would do nicely.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2016 01:33:04
I find it incredibly frustrating on here at times, for years i, and i'm sure all of you, have read the comments about us having no money and poor transfer windows. Then all the comments when Moshiri took over, we're a rich club now, 100 mil to spend, let's make marquee signings etc. When this comes to fruition everybody suddenly backtracks, don't spend the money or we'll do a Leeds. Contradiction beyond belief!
Now of course i love the club and don't ever want us to experience those dark days but our owner is not a fool, he is giving us a shot at becoming top contenders by allowing a big money transfer window like he promised when he arrived. No doubt he has ringfenced that money, taken it as a loss and if the signings don't work out then so be it. If this happens i'm almost certain it won't affect us in the same way as the clubs you mention, perhaps just curb our future extravagance. I don't see valid comparisons with Chelsea, Arsenal or Man City who all spent big and thrived.
I'm not attempting to be argumentative but this is an exciting time and it seems that a lot of you just can't help but be negative no matter what we do.
Enjoy it because we may never experience a transfer window like this again!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2016 10:17:26
WorcesterEFC you are obviously missing the point. Which is with or without money it should be spent wisely.

I fail to see where the negativity is in above posts. It's actually the opposite positivity! Numerous times I have written on here how delighted I am with this investment. How excited and thrilled I am. Its all good WorcesterEFC.

We were just having banter about not spending silly money like some other clubs have unnecessarily done. They too have shrewd smart people running their club

If you don't see comparisons with Arsenal and City and a difference in their approach to spending you never will. No matter how much explaining is done.

No one in above posts is contradicting themselves or being negative. You are by mentioning we may never get another transfer window like this one again. I think there will be plenty more.

Just because we have money doesn't mean we should be silly with it. As I said our new invester is obviously a shrewd man. It's all good.

Again for the record I am happy, ecstatic, grateful, excited and most of all positive for our future. Just like 95% of my posts. Be my guest to check them if you like.

{Ed001's Note - no worries, good to see this happening, especially based in beautiful leafy suburb of Bootle ;-) great things come from those parts you know!}

i personally think this is great.

Everton have been at the forefront of cahnges in the foorball world suh as Kit Numbers, Corners, Nets etc etc. its a real shame that we are ont he back end of having an alcoholic bran as our sponsor

as the young lad points out change have been our kit sponsor for the best part of 10 years now. unless they are giving us ridiuclous benefits then i day take a financial hit now we have Moshi and win yet more respect in the footballing world by going local.

(im aware that Everton is seen as a pretty HUGE club in asia and i'm sure Change has helped that but i'm unsure just how muhc on an influence its had)

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in this day and age, with the advent of social media, I doubt a beer is necessary to build a brand name. It certainly makes it difficult to build your name in the Middle East though!}

05 Jul 2016 12:40:34
Think they may struggle though Ed, $2,000 raised only $22,998,000 to go, nice to see though but can't see it happening, any idea how much longer Chang are the sponsor for anyway, maybe Mr Moshiri will watch this and agree and remove them, i'm sure there are going to be more names wanting to advertise on our shirts very soon mate, I agree though should not have an alcohol sponsor on our shirt, never even seen Chang anyway but not a big drinker myself.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they only really need to raise awareness, rather than the total money, to be honest. If the campaign gathers momentum, then it could easily hit targets otherwise seen as unobtainable. Either way, the very fact people see it, is enough to bring it to the attention of the club as a problem.

I am not actually sure how long is left on the deal. Now you are under new ownership, it would be a clever step to move to end the deal anyway, for goodwill with the fans and the advertising it would bring on social media. Plus Chang should surely see the benefit of agreeing an early end to it, to bring themselves good publicity for having listened.}

05 Jul 2016 14:16:20
Top notch this. I have young kids and they can get the shirts but due to the sponsor they don't have the same shirt as the players wear on matchday.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they look much nicer without the sponsor on them I think.}

05 Jul 2016 10:16:46
Looking at our team now before anyone leaves where do we need players and who would everyone like. Also be relistic with who we would like.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2016 12:46:22
i i'm completely honest we have a good squad. its been said a lot that its the best squad we've had in years.

GK for sure is a position we need. someone of high quality is required IMHO. i would like to see us go for Leno or Ter Stegen. both have been linked with moves away from their clubs and Ter Stegan has been linked with other prem clubs such as Liverpool.

besides that i think our players are good enough for top 10. Typically we want to push higher.

RB - Coleman
CB - Stones
CB - Jags
LB - Baines
CDM - McCarthy
CDM - Barry (probs last season if he makes it through this one)
RM - Deulefeu (Hopefully fitness will ensure he lasts full 90)
LM - Mirallas
CAM - Barkley
ST - Lukaku

looking at this squad i really think that we'd either be looking for £20M - £30M Upgrades or cover players becasue these players have all shown they are good enough for the first team.

im a big fan of Mertens, he can play central or on the wing and i believe has even played up top for Napoli on occasion. i think he'd likely cost us about £20M.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 14:01:50
Mirallas is far better on the right than left and I think Ross needs competition so a LM and possibly a CAM Tarashaj may be good enough so not a priority.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 15:10:59
i personally really like Mirallas playing up top and i belive that was his main role for Olympiakos whihc caused us to buy him in the first place.

number of decent youngesters coming through, Dowell desrved more first team action 2nd half of last season so hopefully he gets more game time his season.

Eds how much do we value Witsel in the current transfer market? (no detail into finance required, just a rounded fee please) becasue i'm a little hisitant to have the club pay £28.5M (whihc is the fee reported, may just be paper talk)

but he signed for Zenit in 2012 for i think they said £32M. surely now he is a better player (some of that fee was likely based on his potentional) but i can't see them wanting to make much of a loss on what tey paid for him.

do we think there is better out there, do we think £28.5M is right to pay?

almsot shocked that i'm worrying about finance when we have Moshiri's financial backing. some things won't change i guess.

Wow. The MIrror (unsure of its accuracy. ) is reporting that Mori is expected to pass up on the Olympic squad to play in pre-seasona nd impress RK.

Multiple ways to red into this.

1. Mori wants to dislodge Stone and/ or Jags to maintain a starting role

2. Stones is off and Mori knows/ has been asked/ feels obliged to participate in pre-season as Jags would be the only other first team CB at the cub come game 1 int he league

3. (Probably the most unlikely A. K. A impossible) Mori is aware tthat RK would like another CB and doesn't want to leave/ get sold (this is unlikely because i do not believe the manager would reveal such transfer plans etc)

What do you guys make of this?
i know we have a number of young deffenders but if we lose Stones are we comfortable with just Mori and Jags playing first team?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2016 10:15:42
Jags and Mori were our best CB's last year

Galloway was great at the start of last season as LB but as soon as Baines retuned he was dropped. like to see him play cb a bit this season.

I think the main factor of pulling out the olympics squad is that he's reluctant to go to Rio de Janeiro atm. Lots of violence and the threat of Zika virus. Already several high profile athletes have pulled out and I'm surprised it's still going to take place. Either way it's a win-win for funes mori as he avoids getting potentially killed and he impresses the boss/ fans with his attitude.

completely agree BotN. galloway had a fantastic start to season adn looked like one of our standout players. many fans suspected matinez of having favourites, especially when issues arose with Howard.

Its a shame galloway was dropped but i believe he was still playing most games fro the U-21's so its not really as though he missed gametime but i didn't hear much from the U-21 games that he had impressed. although i suppose it was difficut to do so when Doweel is scoring screamers for fun.

You may be right there BP, i'm surprised the whole event is taking place because they were way behind schedule last time i checked and the causualties where pretty high as well. Does anyone know if Mori's brother will be taking part? heard he had a good first season for his new club.

Seems like i was right a couple weeks back, Embolo signed for Shalke What do you know, sometimes the rumours are right! )

Think we missed out there but he'sonly 18-19. if he continues to perform it'll only be a matter of years before someone steals the highly rated youngster.

Same happened to Meunier (the belgian RB) id have liked to see him bought in but he's signed for PSG.

This means Greg Van Der Wiel wont/ has not been given a contract extension right? we've been linked int he past, he's now on a free if he's still not assigned to a club and he's dutch!

I think he's a good player, £20M is probably a bit more then id want to pay but price inflations are everywhere.

i Think Puncheon often gets overlooked. he's a decent player and did a real number on us a couple seasons back when we needed to win to keep ahead of Arsenal in the battle for top 4 football.

MUCH cheaper but i don't think id take either IMO.
