Does this result really come as a shock to people. We haven't looked good for a while now. Jags passed his best need replacement, Cleverly not good enough, and Oviedo sorry no. I've said it before we will finish 10th-14th, unless we get quality in midfield, and drop our aging players who have sadly passed their sell by date.

I agree to a degree. Mix it up abit now. Davies needs game time, Holgate is reliable enough, dowell needs bringing in, in stages, as does calvert-lewin. Henen I'm borderline about fir the wing role. One I'm looking forward to see hopefully this season is Liam Walsh. No disrespect to Swansea, but this is a game where some talented youngsters could be brought in, even if it's on the bench.

Seemed a strange choice of game to try five at the back given that Chelsea have been tearing people apart. That said it was good to see RK realise early on and make the change rather than stubbornly sticking. Granted it made no difference, but I think anyone in the league would have been battered by that Chelsea performance yesterday.

Cleverley far too lightweight for a DM, Oviedo has looked awful since his horrific injury, Barkley and Bolasie looked like it was the first time they'd played football. Squad needs some real work and agree with the above that we've got some great young prospects coming through so will hopefully start seeing more of them.

That's brought us all down to earth and that's not a bad thing.
We've got to be more realistic, the players we have are top ten and no more.
Barley average, Lukaku going.
A lesson tonight squashes any thoughts of European football next season.
Top ten and new stadium is I'm afraid all we can look forward to.

Sorry Mushy. I fully disagree. Tonight all teams in the premier league would have been humiliated the way Chelsea played. Confidence is huge. We smashed Chelsea last year twice. Should have been 3 times. We are. still good enough to make Europe. We don't play Chelsea every week. One game does not make a season. And please get off Barkleys back. I though he and. Mirallas we're having. a. crack. jags, Mori, Oviedo, were all worse. Throw in Bolaise and Lukaku who were sooking it up and Cleverly what did he offer. Koeman will not accept this and don't be surprised if Holgate, Davies start next game with Jags and Cleverly on the line. Throw Bolaise there as. well.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Nov 2016 07:18:31
All teams in the Premier league would have been humiliated? No they wouldn't because they wouldn't have sat back and made the opposition look good. They wouldn't have just kicked the ball anywhere, constantly giving the ball back to the opposition. We looked slow and clueless, and we have players in the side who are passed there best, have lost it or didn't have it in the first place. Look we are not going to win anything this season, but we won't get relegated either. So surely if we are going to move forwards then now is the time to dump the old brigade, and bring some much needed energy into the side.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Nov 2016 10:59:46
Got to disagree Twoold2. We had a bad day play wise and played awful. It was the worse we played all season, but at the same time Chelski probably played better than they have all season.

Had we shown up like we did at city the result would of been a lot less humiliating I'm not saying we would of won but we would not of conceded 5 either.

When Chelski play like they did there are very few teams in Europe that would get a draw out of them let alone beat them. Sadly we played worse than a championship side.

Games like this happen in football and every single premiership teams have some players who are a little past their best and replacing them is no easy task. It is no secret the ambition our club has but what do we have to attract the world class younger players over to us? you have to remember every player we want are also wanted by at least one of the top 6 sides or another top European side. Once we get into Europe it will become easier to attract top players and when we get into the champions league it becomes easier again, until that time we have to perform at our best whenever we can, sadly as just proved we (like every other side) are unable to do it every game.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Nov 2016 15:34:12
Totally agree with those that say Chelsea were just unstoppable last night, their form over the last five games puts them as favourites for the league for me, far better on the break than city etc. Add to that how poorly we performed and there was only ever going to be one outcome. There is no doubt we need new faces in, of a better quality than we already have, but that hasn't changed since the last window.
We got our manager in late, we got SW in too late to really have a go at recruiting the players we need. It's been mentioned on here many times that RK says it will take a few windows to get us where he wants us to be, we will get there no doubt. One defeat, a hiding at that, will not change his outlook, probably make him more determined to shake up the squad. It wasn't nice to lose in that manner but that result won't define our season. Chins up and keep faith blues.

What I 'liked' most about this defeat was Koemans complete honesty . No excuses and fact ' Chelsea were on a different level' .

05 Nov 2016 22:20:40
Honest interview. Sort of took some of the blame due to selection but atleast agreed with the crap we had to watch, other managers won't admit team error so at least if he see what we have he can work to change it.

05 Nov 2016 20:17:36
Well that was embarrassing to say the least big clear out needed but new owner new manager new era early days yet moshiri will deliver good times believe.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2016 20:44:01
Why do you think Moshiri will deliver good times? Compared to other owners he isn't even that wealthy, he is 11th on the owners list in the Premiership. Plus Everton aren't a big attraction if you are looking at spending big money. We would have to pay way over the odds to get those players. Get real.

Agree1 Disagree6

05 Nov 2016 21:17:05
Moshiri has already delivered more than some of the other owners. And i'm with shogs. Given time our new set up will start to deliver.

05 Nov 2016 22:37:37
Can u explain what " he has already delivered"

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 23:24:51
His attitude, his motivation, his goals. He hasn't purchased a football club for any sought of status, he wants success.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Nov 2016 07:08:31
Well that's what we have been told anyway. However, still no sign of a new ground despite all the rumours. So I guess the next couple of transfer windows will show just what are ambitions are.

05 Nov 2016 20:05:54
Ok so here we go what a crock of rubbish that was to think a back three of mori rubbish jags shite what has Holgate done to be displaced by this utter garbage if somebody I. e. man utd are willing to pay £20 million for Coleman bite there hand off and get rid oviedo my god is this the best we have after baines then we are in for a lot more hiding than today.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

05 Nov 2016 20:23:39
Rock bottom I don’t think Chelsea could have beaten anybody today, but anybody who didn’t bother to show up, that's for sure and we didn’t . To me its a massive job for RK two or three windows before we can even compete at this level never mind win anything .

Agree1 Disagree2

05 Nov 2016 19:47:12
Well that pretty much ruined my day.

Tonight just showed what we need and who is not up to it. JAGS love him but he has become a liability. Oviedo just not good enough. Funes Mori makes too many mistakes. Cleverly gives us zero. Not sure his role. Barry against good teams is too slow and get caught out. Even the goalkeeper has made some error lately. That's half the team. Bolaise has the losers limp, Lukaku was disinterested. Mirrales and Barkley tried hard but we're just overwhelmed. The boy Tom Davies looks good and should be given a chance. Same with Mason Holgate. Surely del boy should have come on at some stage. But anyway it's only 1 game and I'm sure next game there will be a response. Onwards and upwards.

So this is Everton without Idrissa Gueye. can't wait till January for the African nations. mind you, its fair to say this performance is showing where we really are and the fact we need major investment in the team! Absolute shambles!

Shambles were not that good could have and should have been more really bad today.

That was painful to watch. We were never in the game. Not even for a second.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 19:24:36
To be fair chelsea were on fire. they would beat anyone in the prem with that performance. doesn't make it any easier to watch tho. hopefully the club pull of some quality signings in the next window.

05 Nov 2016 19:36:19
Chelsea were superb tonight! They have the best manager in the league and their performance reminded me of when Conte had Juventus as one of the best teams in Europe! We just couldn't cope. Hopefully, tonight will teach us an awful lot about where we need to strengthen, (everywhere?!? ) Ah well, at least it wasn't against Man U or Lpool, I can just about go to the pub now!

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 19:38:49
Koeman will get it right but as I said at the beginning of the Season we hadn't played anyone of note and that is ooming to pass now. There is an awful lot of rebuilding to do and let's face it Koeman came in late, his staff came in late, DoF came in late and the scouting staff etc is still being overhauled. Realistically we are only 3 months into Koemans 2 year timeline.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 19:39:36
Chelsea were good but we also made it easy for them a couple of blunders from the keeper as we'll.

Don't think Gana would of stopped 5 goals or anything but would have rathered have him.

No pressing are we the only team in the premier that allows teams to play at there own pace and control a game from the off Pissed off same every week 4 big games on the horizon the fans support is fantastic

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 20:34:36
Sometimes you just get beaten. We started with a back 3 which was more of a back 5 as we didn't really do much going forward. The manager changed the formation to try to get us back the game but we just were not good enough. At least RK will have a very good idea of the areas we need to strengthen. We were poor but they were very good just to put a bit of perspective on their home record apart from the 1st game of the season a 2-1 win they have won every prem home fixture by a margin of 3 or more. let's be positive we know we have a lot to improve on and there will be a few bumps along the way but at least we are heading in the right direction.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Nov 2016 20:45:38
We were poor but Chelsea were also a cut above us. Massive gulfs in class and quality all over the pitch.

Didn't manage to see the game but after watching Chelsea against United and Southampton I did fear for our lack of pace at the back and in midfield. Players like Pedro, Hazard and even Costa running at you and also the movement off the ball from them was too much for our backline to handle. Not making excuses because losing by 5 clear goals is inexcusable but this was Chelseas 5th straight league win without conceding. We are terribly short on numbers and quality squad wise and need to address this. Swansea up next after the international break and the players owe us a good performance to make ammends for today.

Absolute shambles
Something needs to be done at half time or this could get shameful
Shows how far behind the top 5/ 6 we really are.

Our tactic is basically press. We don't win the ball on the press. Chelsea breeze past our midfield and aging center backs.

Just watching the derby wolves game and Will Hughes looks promising don't know if he'd be worth a try for especially when we have our own young midfielders what do people think? Looking forward to seeing Barkely against Chelsea hoping for 3 points.

Beat Chelsea.

May have to miss the first part of the game. My son's Under 8 team came back from 1-6 to win 10-7 and progress in the tourney. My son is left footed and should be a replacement for Baines at left back in about 15 years.

He can partner my son in defence. I will hover just in front of the back 4. Where are you playing New Blue? (by the way I am coming up to 60 years old but it does not stop me dreaming! )

Georgia, about 3 hours south of Atlanta.
He may also make a good central midfielder.

We lost the second game 8-5 and went for pizza.

I think the McCarthy issue is just another example of what a class manager we have. He's certainly no pushover which reminds me of his playing days.

One of the reasons this has become a media show is because Koeman wants it to be. By fronting this issue up to O'neil he's basically letting all the national team coaches know that our players and club must be respected and unless you want this kind of distraction to your small window of preparation you should jolly well look after our assets.

Regardless of McCarthys opinion and preferences the club will air its views. So please Big Ron, Don't stop.
