Looking forward to the Derby, albeit a little apprehensively, and I hope we make a better game of it than we did against City. I think we will and I predict 2-2 😄.

I personally think we will do ok, saying that, if we have ago we might do ok, if we sit back then forget it.

5 hours before kick off. Just hope the boys go out and give it a go. If they do that I will be happy and I also think we could spring a surprise.

{Ed025's Note - i think it has a 0-0 draw written all over it bw..

Don't build my hopes up.

{Ed025's Note - whats your prediction mate?..

07 Apr 2018 08:07:41
I'm all over the place on it. If we turn up like we did for City we'll get the same treatment they gave us. If we give it a go and Liverpool have Tuesday in mind we can pull off a win or a draw. If Liverpool are up for it we will struggle but I would be happy if we at least tried and maybe a draw is possible.
A lot depends on how Sam sets them up and on our attitude

Clear as mud eh.

{Ed025's Note - liverpool will put out a scratch side but still will pose problems for us bw..

I agree. The main thing I want is for us not to capitulate like we did against City. That was probably the worst performance for 90 minutes I have seen. Surely they can't do the same against Liverpool. They owe us a performance and I'm hopeful we will get one. For me, this one time, the performance/ attitude is more important than the score.

{Ed025's Note - the atmosphere has been poor all season bw, but thats down to the players giving the supporters absolutely nothing, its time for them to step up mate..

If I can offer a crumb of comfort, the last Derby I went was the 3 nil Andy Johnson Derby, stopped going Anfield early nineties, swerved the Past Derbys due to the hostile and sickening songs, tomorrow will be my first Derby since then, added bonus I have managed to attend 8 games this season, we won 6 and drew the other 2 so let’s hope I can keep up the lucky mascot. By the way yes I am a Blue.

Lets hope you're a good luck charm nev. I sold my ticket on I couldn't deal with it if it goes badly. Hope I regret not going but as long as we win I won't care.

Will take that, 6 wins and three draws this season, and still not seen us lose a Goodison Derby for well over 14 years.

We saw on Wednesday night what you can achieve with self belief and not allowing your opponents time on the ball, pushing forward and showing no fear.

We need to replicate that on Saturday, this one game alone can have a huge impact, so we need to get out of the starting blocks and get straight into their faces, that means no Williams or Schnids in the starting 11, has to be Davies starting, fingers crossed Gaye passes a fitness test.

Total waste of time playing Calvert Lewin alongside Tosun, I would mix it up and start Niasse and Tosun, Niasse to do the hunting and pressing the player on the ball, allowing space for Bolasie and Walcott.

None of this will work if we start both Rooney and Schnids, we need Davies to try and drive us forward, if we do then we have a chance, this game will be won or lost, depending on the Managers starting 11 and tactics, this is the one he has to get right.

actually bignev (taking the first sentence of your last paragraph first) , leaving Schneiderlin out and playing Rooney and Davis together would make a huge difference. Your main point has some validity if we had the players in form and a Manager who dares to stray from his normal single dimension. Even then playing a Liverpool side on saturday that can do that to currently the best Team in the Land is going to need certainly a couple of mind numbing beverages prior to commencement.

City can do the above as well, unless you stop them in their tracks, that’s what we need to do and not allow them too much space and time on the ball, we did it in the cup game and took them on, very unlucky not to get a result, do the same Saturday and we have a chance.

I can accept Rooney but not both him and Schnids, it slows our play down too much, personally I would start with Davies and Gaye if fit and use Rooney when the pace of the game has slowed down.

Normally there are fierce tackles flying in on Derby Day, with the second leg on Tuesday, I cannot see too many wild tackles flying in from them and risk missing Tuesdays second leg.

Unlike the cup game, we have home advantage, both Baines and Coleman back, Walcott and Tosun and more than one centre forward.

Add to that they have possibly Salah, Can and a free others missing, we have a great chance if we have a go and do not sit back.

Big nev, any bookings at the weekend will be irrelevant in the champs league so expect some tasty tackles.
I'm not sure what tactics to adopt so I'm erring on the kick them around the park and hope to get a lucky goal tactic.
One thing is for sure, I would have loved for Holgate to have played in this game.

I know this is a little left field but I want Scousers on that pitch so I would put Kenny and Coleman on the right and Walcott and Baines on the left. Davies, gana/ Baningime and Rooney in the middle. Jags and holgate (If he was available) at the back.
Tosun and Vlasic 9 and 10.
