A little lift its quality signings we need to really mount a challenge for that top 4 personally I'm just praying for 3 points on Saturday I have given up with Everton and the transfer market such a depressing time it's been.

I do agree we should not just impulse buy and think we will get two quality loans and one big name in well that's what my son keeps telling me.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 11:06:49
The three will have been long term targets, its waiting for the right time to commit we can't afford a dutch auction with bigger budget clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 15:15:54
My point is I don't think we are going to sign anyone who will go straight in or challenge straight away for a first team place, just average players who won't really improve us now when its needed

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 18:20:55
At the risk of the media eventually being proved right with one of their transfer stories, I find it very gratifying when another one of our players signs a long-term contract with us. I don't doubt that other clubs covet our players and I don't doubt that a player (and his agent!) would negotiate strongly and I don't doubt that "stories" are leaked to the media by all concerned parties, BUT - yet again - its all smoke and mirrors (especially the Daily "Mirror" LOL) until there's an official announcement. Like so many fans - and especially the posters here - I crave the gossip about our club, but I try to be patient and it's great to see the club doing successful business so professionally.
Whatever their failings maybe, RM and BK and the club in general have never imho been untruthful in their transfer dealings - even though we'd like to see the money being spent on quality additions.

Pics on Twitter of rm in euston train station 4pm today
This morning he was in Liverpool. Maybe something in this let's see

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's on talk s in the morning but could do the interview on the phone. Maybe Bill has given him a freebie for a show.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 18:08:53
A good day overall in terms of RM stating that he wants three in and then Macca signing a long extension. As long as we don't cock up on Saturday, we could be in decent shape by the spuds game.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Aug 2015 18:03:43
I would love to keep stones. He is under contract so we should not take less than Β£50 and stick to it. If he went I hope rm would have the TV money from this year and the stones money. If stones goes for Β£30 mill then they are daft, but if bk then gives him the 30, plus let's say 20 of this years TV money then I would say we could get 3-4 decent players.

What's your thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Aug 2015 18:29:13
RM has already said that the wants 3 experienced players - a centre-back, a centre-forward, and a number-ten. He's also said that he doesn't want to lose any players, although something will have to give since we need to accommodate those 3 new players in our squad quota of 25 aged-over-21 players. I just hope we don't get an "offer we can't refuse" for Stones or any of the other crown jewels.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 07:31:35
May be wrong here sid, but I thought stones didn't count in that?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Aug 2015 07:52:19
cropper16: Stones is still classed as aged-under-21. My point about him is that if he - or any other player - left, then we'd surely need a direct replacement and that would surely be another over-21 player who'd have to be accommodated in the squad quota. As it stands, we currently don't have room for the three players (if they're going to be aged-over-21) that RM has said he already wants to bring in. Even with Garbutt on a season-long loan, we still have 23 aged-over-21 players, so some other(s) will have to go in order to stay within the squad quota of 25 - and RM has said he doesn't want to lose anyone else. Maybe the likes of Junior will be moved out - be that on loan or permanently - and that'll free up a further squad place.

Any one noticed the lack of feeding frenzy from the London media including the red loving Talksport over the Express headline this morning over the Everton bid for Harry Kane. Not a peep, yet Alan Brazil nearly caused me to crash yesterday with his comments to Mourinho about signing Stones. Pij wants to keep his nose out of Evertons affairs.

06 Aug 2015 15:46:58
Alright so everyone is spending more than us but it's more the fact there spending apart from top 4 or 5 clubs there has not been any transfers that have made me think we should of got him although would of loved cabaye think he is top player who would of been great for us yes clubs that have come up have spent 20m maybe more but those players would not be first choice in our squad,

Believable3 Unbelievable0

06 Aug 2015 15:00:45
To publicly say we need 3 players means in my book we will have 3 more players by deadline day. That's good to hear.
I don't like the propaganda of we will enjoy the home atmosphere. Look you know we are not happy, address it properly. Why can't Everton as a business who brand themselves as the people's club be honest with it's people.
Imagine a joint press conference Bobby and bill saying look we want more, we want better but we don't have it. We are going to have to make the most of it. On the website is our reason for the financial situation that's just where we are at. I'm angry your angry but that's how it is.
Goodison would rock behind the team if the club just spoke to us. We are not daft don't try and play the great atmosphere will help us card. We are hurt, frustrated and annoyed because we have no idea why or what is going on.
Once a blue always a blue, Evertonians are the loyalist fans out there if there is a backs against the wall situation we are on it, just look at the last 20 years, what we don't appreciate is bull excrement.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

06 Aug 2015 15:31:31
Totally agree, why won't the club just come out and be honest, it's a mystery!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2015 16:49:46
Because they will get slated for coming out and being negative and it will make it even worse. Not only that but players don't want the manager and chairman coming out and saying we don't have this or can't get that.

You're saying your hurt and angry but what over?

Because we haven't signed a load of no marks with 26 days of the transfer window left?

Have a little but of patience and see where we are on the 1st of September. Remember the Fellani's, McCarthy's and Lukaku deals we have done on the last day and the feeling you get from it and stop dwelling on the fact teams like Palace have signed players like Wickham for Β£9mil!

After all the doom and gloom this summer it could work out being one of our best if we manage to keep hold of stones and the others sign new deals I think that sends a great message to the rest of the league. It tells every one Everton are no longer a feeder club for the so called bigger clubs. And I know it's a big if but if we spent 20 mil on 2 players (preferably ban dijk/ shaquari) I think we would have had the best transfer window we've had in recent times we would also have the strongest squad I can remember in the premier league era. Here's to the new season

Praise be! I'm a born-again Evertonian. After all, we're born not made - aren't we? It was the way the crowd reacted to Duncan Ferguson on Sunday AND the way the fans greeted Wayne Rooney AND the post-match comments by DF that brought me out of my trough of despondency and convinced me that being an Evertonian is truly to see the light and reject the dark side.
Things may not be perfect at our club and RM might not be "perfect" or "phenomenal" and we might not have the spending power (or willingness to spend) of other clubs, BUT we are a proper football club with proper fans and a proud tradition and (hopefully) more history still to be written.
Finally, I'd like to wish Bill Kenwright all the best with his illness. Whatever else many may think about BK, he is an Evertonian to his very core.
Once a blue, always a blue (even if, like me, you go AWOL for a few months to sort out your mind)!

Murf1000: Thanks. As for the dark side, I'm unconcerned that they "spend, spend, spend!" like a 1960s pools winner (you have to be over a certain age to know what I'm going on about) in an attempt to buy their way into the top four. Don't get me wrong - I'd love us to be getting and retaining the best players, but I personally get more satisfaction seeing gems coming through from our academy or brought in from the lower leagues or unknown talent being sourced from Europe or worldwide.

Now here's a post I want to jump into. A new season about to start and the past to be forgotten.

3 points on Saturday and a couple of goals will do us all good.

By the sound of it as well the club are timing Mirallas and McCarthy's new contracts to give us all a boost at the right time.

Keeping players can be as important as signing new ones. Especially the quality these boys posses.

Yarmolenko from Kiev is being chased by Stoke. Forget Shaqiri why are we not after this fella? He looked quality for Kiev last season. He had great use of both feet, quick, tricky, strong. It comes to something when Stoke are pulling out better transfer coups than we are. The board might want to come on here and have a look and see what people are saying!

He was shopping for crying out loud I have been seen in the trafford centre before doesn't mean am uprooting my family and moving to Wilmslow! John Stones is and will remain an Everton player unless he requests a transfer, which from what I have read about the player from past manager and current players it is not in his nature to do so. Next season may be a different story depending on what sort of tournament he has at the euros and how he performs for us this season.

Striker- Austin 14m plus add ins or Rhodes 12m plus add ons Kone on loan for season
No 10 role- loan from Barcelona or junnasi
Centre back - Celtic boy 10m

Out - Stones but will return on loan for season Β£32m plus add ons could rise to 50m
We get Marin on loan

This could be major day for Everton the club could give the fans a huge confidence boost this season we are shy of3-4 first team players short of being just as equipped as other to challenge

3 days to go before another new season & after watching the Villareal game, I now know. we are in trouble! Doom & Gloom I can already hear from the Optimists on here, but I really believe its time for realism. This great Club of ours is too big for Martinez, He really doesn't understand what's required here and he still shapes as though he's at Wigan. Fans know that we had to sign at least one new experienced defender to replace the admirable Distin and also the loss of Alcaraz.we have been linked with, but lost out on quite a few decent defenders, possibly because we won't pay the going rates? Now, I would say that the odds are heavily in favour of us losing Stones to Chelsea. I think He will go because Everton are showing no ambition to sign any quality at all. Shaquiri is a liability who plays when he feels like, yes he's talented but can't hold his place in any team he's been at. We should have signed Payet the French midfielder who has now gone to West Ham. If and when Stones leaves, it sends out a message to Lukaku, Mirallas, McCarthy & Coleman that Everton are quite happy to remain a mid table team. This is just my opinion and its there to be shot at, but last Sunday against Villareal, we had no midfield creativity at all for the whole 90 mins and didn't have a shot that troubled their keeper until, ironically, Rooney came on. Kone was an absolute joke, no threat at all. but no supply from midfield either. We have only spent just over Β£4mil whilst even the other mediocre teams in the Premier League have all added and strengthened, especially Southampton. now there's a Manager. Martinez is out of his depth here and we need a Manager who commands respect. Even Gary Monk, one of his old players/mates at Swansea has built a stronger team/squad than we have. Martinez says he wants to sign 2/3 players before the deadline. more like 5/6, and quality players at that. but WHO and where from. Nobody will come here whilst we are on the brink of selling those we should be building a team around. for the future of this great Club. Everton FC.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed003's Note - Football has changed,Everton are a great club but great clubs don't win trophies anymore just the select rich ones with the odd upset when they can't be arsed taking things seriously.}

06 Aug 2015 08:55:11
Sadly, I completely agree with your prognosis Glden Vision. Looking at some recent old videos - Graveson, Carsley, Cahill Arteta, all played with such energy and yet weren't all the most gifted players. I look at the present crop and I just don't see real leaders with real passion. It's like Martinez has unplugged their spark.
Barkley is the most classic example of this. He like Rodwell before him seem to come off the 'great athlete' but devoid of personality over coached breed.
A bit more spark and ingenuity throughout the club is called for - maybe Ferguson needs a greater influence.

Ok so there is a lot of transfer negativity around at the mo, let's look at facts

Outs:
Distin
Garbutt loan
Alcaraz
Some other young ones on loan as well

Ins:
Del Boy 4.5m
Cleverly free
Henan 200k

We have had 2 bids of 20 and 25m for stones which we have refused.
Everything else is paper trash and most of you buy into it, your just as bad as the press
Martinez does not need to say anything about stones other than the facts.
None of us know who were after, if you look at all the signings he has made how many of you thought we would sign lukaku on loan, Barry, Del Boy, Besic,
These were all signings that we knew nothing about, the only thing I can't understand is why Martinez said we need a striker, no 10 player and a centre half, so why buy a centre midfield and a winger

Believable0 Unbelievable2

06 Aug 2015 08:08:37
All of what you say is true mate. But also consider the following facts: Distin and Alcaraz are gone. Stones may go. That's 3 of our center backs. He has signed: McCarthy, Cleverly, Barry, Besic, McGeady, Delafeou, Kone. Add all their goals together and they usually average well below 10 a season. ie we will rely almost totally on Lukaku and Mirallas for our goals. If Mirallas goes or Lukaku we are in a big trench! Or if either get injured. I got slagged off for pointing this out as it developed over the last 2 seasons and I have to say it gives me no pleasure at all to see it happening. We are creating a squad that can retain possession yet has about 3 shots at goal every game! If we don't get relegated, we will all die of boredom! And I am told this is better than Moyes! lol
