Ed do you no how far off the first team this kid henen is or even off the bench

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - one for the future apparently shakey..

06 Jan 2015 23:05:51
Great, were still in the cup, but the performance, particularly in defense, was woeful. We don't have bad players, but they are being asked to play a system, for which they are wholly unsuited. A manager sets a pattern of play, which plays to the strengths of the players he has at his disposal, he does not come forward with his preferred option pushing square pegs in round holds, and that is precisely what has been happening all season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 22:50:47
. just a question Ed.but why does Bobby keep persisting with 2 holding midfielders since day 1?!? It's hardly protecting the defense is it - so maybe a new formation should be tried to give more balance?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i cant fathom it out zacki, we need to sort it out mate before its too late..

06 Jan 2015 22:40:03
"It would have been a crime to go out to a dead ball situation". No Roberto other teams practice and practice and practice these, and a goals a goal no matter where it comes from. God I'd love it if we scored a goal like there's, just once.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more, the amount of corners, free kicks we've had this season and not one goal from them. May as well kick the ball out for a goal kick when we get them, ask any fan, a goal is a goal Roberto!.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - agreed..

06 Jan 2015 23:16:04
He wasnt complaining when he won the fa cup because of a dead ball situation!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - talking about dead balls...how do you think barry played tonight?..

07 Jan 2015 07:29:04
Im a big fan of barry, but not just tonight, this whole season he's been mostly awful, I don't think he's fit, when he is he's a very good player. If you want the best out of him you have to play him with mccarthy, I don't think he used us for the paycheck as he's not like that. Its a real shame because he was brilliant last year, I just don't understand why martinez plays him 2 maybe 3 times a week for the full 90 but brings younger players like mccarthy and besic off after an hour. I really hope he improves, I know he can but it will be a shane if this is the end of him, which I doubt, but he should be out of the team for a while.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 22:28:34
Team formation for future games 4-1-3-2

To give width and 2 up front to take unstable defenders

Team against Man City
Robles
Coleman stones jags baines
Besic
Mcgeady naismith super k
Lukaka kone

Sorry that I have picked mcgeady but who else on the right?

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - drop coleman and replace him with anyone who,s arsed for me zulu..

06 Jan 2015 22:52:16
Sorry ed and other posters I don't get this hate towards McGeady. He gives 100 per cent and isn't bad as you make out. Eto has been useless the past few games and with 0 effort yet I don't see him being ridicululed. Everyone is entitled to there opinion but at least give the guy some respect, his effort alone deserves that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont hate the guy HB, its just that he is simply not good enough mate, 100% effort should be expected from everybody, its all about opinion though, and my opinion is that he is the worst everton player i have ever seen, although he had a lot of competition tonight fella..

Fair enough that's your opinion and your entilted to it but worst everton player you have ever seen? I can name at least 20 off the top of my head. And going on this season, I would say Barry is worse and by some distance. The guy must give away more free kicks than anyone in the league.
I agree you would expect 100 per cent effort from every player but you certainly don't get it and mcgeady gives at least that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree that barry has been piss poor HB, i think we are paying for his retirement party unfortunately..

07 Jan 2015 00:01:39
Would prefer to see a christmas tree style set up, particularly against city who are going to be a strong midfield unit.
robles
coleman stones jags baines
besic
barkley
mcgeedy naismith mirallas
lukaku.
This will still allow us to play naismith in the number 10 role between their defensive lines, but more importantly barkley able to take the game by the scruff of the neck and command the midfield without being crowded out by 3/4 defenders due to our ever persistant slow build up play by distan, jags and barry. He could pick up the ball in centre mid and drive at defenses (what he's good at) and play through balls for naismith, mirallas, mcgeedy and lukaku.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the look of that set up Craig, although myself I would go with Garbutt and Browning at the back. I know they are young/inexperienced etc. But they would give 100% effort.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 22:25:27
Motm for me tonight was Besic fearless and keeps going, Rom looked sharp and imo should just be played hanging around the box that's where he's happiest. However should do better at home so fingers crossed for next, think we may of turned a tiny corner but loads to do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 22:13:41
Was the crowd really only 22000?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i thought i heard more groans than that plps..

06 Jan 2015 21:58:37
Lucky again, still rm picked the wrong players in the positions and his subs were wrong again, kone should be on b4 eto; I know I am about to say this ;but mcgeady should of come on earlier for width: still too many no 10's on the pitch; Still Sq pegs etc. I will take a point on sat the way we are playing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i would take a 3-0 loss after that zulu..

06 Jan 2015 21:56:29
.to be fair, I thought Lukaku deserved his goal tonight - he was by far our most dangerous player.if only he could play like that every game. as for the rest, well mediocre at best & defense (Jagielka particularly) looked poor & shaky until Stones came on. rather strange to say this but I thought Robles actually had a good game & looked quite solid!bi expect Bobby to come out & say the performance tonight was "outstanding"! Only time will tell whether that goal is a turning point in the season, personally I don't think it will be & the players body language during the post match interview was awful - they looked so unhappy & miserable. maybe a strong dose of Prozac & some wacky happy pills 'll cheer em up in time for our thrashing against Man Citteh!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i thought distin was awful as well zacki..time to retire him i think..

Agreed Ed. very impressed with Winston Reid tonight - looks very strong & dependable, would be a good signing for me!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - and me mate..

If Coleman was to leave, then reid would be my number 1 choice to replace him! I'm not saying sell the 60k wonder, but I do wonder where his head is right now as he seems to be in a world of his own and very ineffective at the moment!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 22:36:15
But dazzie, they play in different positions?

Agree0 Disagree0

Distan has been awful this season but was fairly solid tonight and did ok on the ball. Jags was terrible, Coleman still looks dangerous and Reid is a centre back so why would he replace him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - coleman looked very dangerous..for west ham!...distin was an absolute shambles imo and jags your spot on with..

I agree that Coleman has been the same as he was last season but which player has. He has nothing in front of him whenever he carries the ball out of defence and still tries to get forward but the ball is constantly in the middle with Naismith,Barkley and eto. Would be interesting to see want a different manager could get out of Coleman and lukaku with playing to there strengths.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he does not seem bothered to me HB, face like a smacked arse all the time and cant beat a man..

06 Jan 2015 21:56:26
1-1, now let's not get carried away and think all our problems are going to go away, we got that result tonight in 'spite' of Martinez tactics, not because of them.

Pros.
1. Lukaku looked hungry tonight and wanted to be involved,
2 the crowd we amazing
3 Stones brings a calmness to the defence.
4. Our intensity at the end should be what we start like

Con's, (for those of you blinded by the elation of a last minute equaliser)
1 Our tactics again were shocking, when playing west ham, you don't give away needless set pieces, yet Barry (once again) took only 17 seconds to do this, we gave West ham 11 corners before they scored
2. Our set up on corners was abysmal, how many times did they go short and catch our players with their backs to the ball.
3. Once again we insist on going backwards repeatedly, even from promising positions
4. Our players seem terrified to play a percentage ball, there is no putting it in the box, or into the channels, unless its a certain pass we don't attempt it.
5. Our attacking play lacks direction, once again we insisted on trying to go through west ham rather than around them(which was how we scored), at times we looked cluless
6. Martinez insistence with leaving Barry on the field baffles me.
7. Our lack of width and inability to cross the ball is unforgivable.
8. It was 85 minutes before we put a decent set piece into the box.
9. In the last 11 league games we have W2 D3 L6 we have failed to score on 5 occasions and scored only once on 3 occasions!!

says it all really when we are happy with grabbing a draw at home to West Ham(no disrespect to the Hammers), they'll beat us in the replay, Martinez will put a crazy team to rest players

I'm not even angry anymore, a little disappointed but just filled with a sense of inevitability.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Got to admit that your comments are spot on! Did the same against Newcastle. Put a cross in to Kone to score before 5 mins were up.When we were 3-1 down after 74 mins we crossed the ball into the box for the 2nd time . Kone had been subbed!!TEAM didn't look confident on the ball tonight. Morale is obviously very low at the mo!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 21:54:18
For 3 minutes after they scored and 2 minutes of added time we looked intetested and quite good, that's five more minutes than I have seen for a while. The other 89 were still awful. On a plus Rom looked up for it and despite giving it away countless times Ross at least showed drive. Robles was also bad which is a big improvement from his normal showings.
It might only be 0-4 now on saturday with that confidence rousing performance. Look forward to the we were exceptional quotes from our Bobby

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - if i had a swear box svenny...i would owe millions tonight..

Robles was bad? Give the guy some credit, his coming off the line is far better than Howard's. Still don't like him as a keeper but he had a good game tonight.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that mate..

Out of 15 corners he came to claim exactly 0. That's not acceptable

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 21:52:39
I feel sorry for besic he gives 110% in every game and tackle and then he's the one who always gets subbed when it should be Barry who's legs are gone after a minute. I liked the look of Barkley and besic when the played Barkley actually tackled that game. Too many of our players are too friendly with the other teams players.

Thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - besic is a trier, as is naisy, the rest are trying my patience..i was actually calling for mcgeady to be brought on!..

Fully agree! I really like the look of be sic, and the lad gives blood and guts to the cause! There's not many in the team currently that can say that!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 21:52:10
Lukaku played like a proper centre forward tonight.Deserved his goal.Nice to see him impose himself for a change. Certainly M of M for team.Overall the team were nervous and did not play well at all.Jakielka had a nightmare. Crossing the ball to Lukaku will certainly cause problems for any defence!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he done ok lemur..pity about the midfield..

06 Jan 2015 21:50:43
Not all doom and gloom boys! The fit Blonde blue nose lass in the crowd cheerd me up, oh yeh back to subject we were poor again!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - was she sitting next to gareth barry?..

06 Jan 2015 21:46:35
Ok, I'm going to say something quite controversial, so here come the words I didn't think i'd ever say. I thought Joel played quite well. Apart from the goal, which was not really his fault. He made a few decent saves and I thought it was a vast improvement in his catching game. Good joke on his part to smash that outgoing ball into the crowd with a whopper of a punch. Maybe Bobby's recent snub has brought something out of him? Let the onslaught of disagreement commence!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he did ok to be fair OHEFY, lets look at the rest of them mate.. absolute turkish delight..

Ed25 think you are being a little harsh on Besic, Oviedo and Lukaku who put in decent performances.
Same issues apparent, didn't move the ball quickly enough and there was no shape to the team. Certainly the midfield was totally ineffective, with the exception of Mo and Barkley needs to be taught that football is also about movement off the ball, both in attacking and defending, he only seems to move with purpose when he has the ball

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - for me our midfield was non-existent fancy, west ham owned them and had far too much room, barry has got his contract and has now retired, ross has a few decent touches but loses the ball too much, and for all besic,s endeavour he lacks composure and guile..

I know mate. I'm not sure Barry has many games left in him this season. Jagielka looked like he was being puppeteered by a careless toddler. The floating blob that used to be Seamus Coleman contributed little and the less said about spud foot Barclay tonight, the better. Was he wearing lego boots? Worst moment for me was E'to coming on and just started strolling around like he was in asda as soon as he got the yellow card. Oviedo had some glimmers of claiming the LB spot and Besic played ok again, so of course, Bobby took him off. I laughed when Tubby McGeady came on. He looked like a scruffy mascot.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you watched the same game as me mate..

Ed025 imo Mo does have both technical ability and energy but when you are the only one putting in a shift in midfield you find yourself totally outnumbered and really don't have the time or luxury to fully display total composure and guile.
I think he has the potential to be a great asset to EFC but he cannot do it on his own.
We neither control games from midfield, which puts pressure on the back four, or have a consistent creative player who can pick out the telling pass.
In the past seasons we were strong defensively when Carsley, then Neville and to a degree Barry last season played deep and protected the back four.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i take your point fancy, the kid is a trier who needs better quality around him..

Ed he is more than a trier, he is a bit of class on the ball and he puts s shift in. You make him sound like an Stoke type player.
Overall I thought there was an improvement in individual performances in lukaku, besic, Barkley and Oviedo.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not a stoke like player HB...accrington stanley more like, 3 of them four you mention were decent...im afraid ross was poor again, some good stuff, but far outweighed by his losing of the ball, misplaced passes and poor positional sense, i like the rest really want the kid to do well..but i have to be honest mate..

06 Jan 2015 21:43:47
Hi lads haven't been on here for a while.
Well its turning out like I said. this guys has destroyed what King David left him. don't have a clue. you don't defend on their 25yd line, person done the same and got relegated with wigan. and has nt learnt nowt. so why did we employ him?. joe Royal won the cup with us, But still got the sack. That don't make any sence. its about getting
Results on the pitch that count. he Bought a load of lame Donkeys.and can't inspire a boose up.
so bring back Moyes. As Relegation is all he can muster.
I will post when we get Relegated. and thank you bill
For this black cloud you brought with hope of a new dorn.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we have missed your positivity raz..

06 Jan 2015 21:40:22
seriously I'd take 10m for barkley that's the gods honest truth people bang on about potential he is awful, loses the ball can't tackle can't pick a pass save his life, Barry is really bad at everything and Coleman I'd sell just doesn't seem interested,

Overall very lucky to get a rematch poor show poor result

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - very poor ant...looks like sligo ripped us off big time..

I kno we got him for a steal just isn't the same player I think he has his mind elsewere

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - me too ant..

I'd like Winston Reid from West ham. He looks quite accomplished and comfortable on the ball. Looks ok attacking aswell, but that might just be down to us being so poor we'd make Sunday league players look like word beaters against us!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im a fan as well dazzle..

06 Jan 2015 21:34:52
Thought we played quite well. For me the ref was terrible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - really?..

06 Jan 2015 21:12:15
Disgusted to see what appeared to be a laser beam directed at Carlton Cole when he came on for West Ham in the 60th minute. That behaviour not needed anywhere if it was.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It could be that the hitman BK Hired to take Robbie out and avoid severance pay caught him by accident as he didn't have a clear shot?

Seriously though it's not nice and if it was the person needs banning.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 19:18:39
Martinez: "We need to face this adversity together. Now is the time to be proud of being a Blue & make sure we kick every ball together" 2/2

Make it true please. History is against us - we haven't beaten West Ham United in a FA match over the past 4 attempts. No passive passing tonight - just the march of belief that we are be the Champions - one day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 17:05:47
This could be one of those defining moments tonight. I remember back in the day, blues playing awful, up against Oxford in the cup. Still not playing great till Inchy stuck away that killer goal. Team never looked back after that. That's what we need tonight, so here's hoping RM can inspire the boys to a great result. Or they get hammered (no pun intended), and ROBBIE gets the boot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Remember that game well, if only history would repeat itself!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 13:09:10
I really feel its time for a summer clear out and lose some of the dead wood in the squad

ROBLES, DISTIN, ALCARAZ, GIBSON (to many injuries), PIENAAR, MCGEADY, BARRY & HIBBERT (reluctantly)

time to rebuild! unfortunately the cost to replace them would be much more than they are worth!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 14:36:01
Max you would get for all those is 9 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Robles 2 mil mcgeady 5 and pienaar 2 gibson 500k and rest free

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 15:35:00
Robles:0.5Mil
Distin: Free
Alcaraz: Free
Gibson: 1 Mil
Pienaar: 0.5Mil
Mcgeady: A free institutionalizing
Barry: Free
Hibbo: Free

Nah Murf, 9 Mil would be a dream,

we'd be luck to get more than 3 MIL

No Murf, more like

Agree0 Disagree0

I go for new gk, Moussa dembele, a new cb, and a goalscoring winger like Nolito. And see more of browning, ledson, kennedy, henen and so on.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 17:56:59
Funniest thing is RM was interested in Gibbo when he was at wigan, suppose if he had we would be buying him back now!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 11:45:15
Hello from a truly cold Ontario. Yesterdays poll says it all. Its not pivotal - its now a defining moment. A loss will start a consequential series of events. RM says we are all in it together but the quality is there anyway - so those at the ground tonight will need to squeeze it out of the players. H'mm, unlikely. Some time in the next few days, a player or players will ask for the opportunity to play for a CPL side. Incoming transfer targets will butter their bread as they see fit and the chllenge of EFC's position, whilst tempting, will be finally viewed as too much. With much fanfare EFC will sign players but the truth will be perhaps not first choice but within our limits. Thus the cycle of life continues. On the other hand, if we win, the above may still occur but then its alright because life doesn't look so bad.

heard on radio this morning big sam ain't won a fa cup game with west ham.LETS KEEP HIS RUN GOING, coyb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 15:37:54
Well now that we know that, we also know that EFC will be so kind as to oblige in helping him gain his first win. Is it just me or does anyone else fear the player in the opposition that hasn't scored in 18 matches?

Coz they always seem to pop up against us and get a hattrick or something.

Soldado was probably the worst one so far this season, or maybe the Stoke one, where they hadnt won in ages.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 11:13:16
January wish list

Schmiechel
Clyne
Reid
Fellaini
Dyer/nasri/delefeou/Townsend/schurler.

Obviously not them all but it looks like we will be getting a new GK, we need cover/competition for Coleman. At least 1 cb to replace the ageing distin & Alcaraz first choice has to be jags & stones. I know fellaini will raise a few eye brows but only if we can get him back for a cheap deal it would just give us something different than what we have got and he does make things happen and would be the plan b everyone is talking about. We are crying out for another winger to go opposite mirallas, mcgeady and Atsu don't seem to have taken their opportunities maybe piennar can recapture some form if he had a run of games. I would prefer someone with lightning pace to stretch the defence if only we had a kanchelskis.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2015 11:35:09
fellaini haha and townsend haha

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 12:10:13
I'd take Fellaini back. I'm sure he could still do a good for us alongside Mccarthy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but Nasri? Fellaini? Clyne? Those three make little to no sense. Schmiechel is out until March so we need a different keeper. Reid is a nessecity as well as one of those wingers preferably delboy or schurlle with cover from janusaj on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

Lee, clyne as cover and keep Coleman on his toes and to stop stones playing out of position, who would you like to see as a cover are you happy with browning thoughts? I not seen enough of him yet. Fellaini for more options and feel if we could get him for a knockdown price it would be worth our while I understand it would divide people's opinions. Nasri is a player who creates things and who I believe to be a realistic target. Where did you hear schmeichel is out until march? I can ony see that he injured beginning of December a metetarsal and out for approx 6 weeks.
Swan, fellaini as above, Townsend is a player with pace who would be a threat I know he needs to work on his lack if goals but he is a player that is better than what we have and think we lack pace although the likes if mcgeady are but slow I mean someone you can play a diagonal ball over the full back and have someone running onto like u said a kanchelskis or sterling or Walcott with scary pace. We need to be realistic with who we can get and who can improve the squad. I am not stating other than the obvious if what all everton supporters know we need a gk, rb, cb and winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nathen dyer is only 27 I was surprised to see this, I thought he was older and every time I see him he impresses me and not only consistent but would be used to our style of play coming from Swansea.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2015 16:07:11
Im actually speechless

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - now theres a first.. :)

06 Jan 2015 16:57:15
Right now Clyne is better than Coleman. Why would he want to leave Soton to join us?

Agree0 Disagree0

No chance of getting Fellaini back. He has chipped in with a couple of goals and assists at Utd. He is very much part of their squad now playing in most of the 10 games unbeaten run consisting of 8 wins. May not be the prettiest of players but a very useful player. One perhaps we could have done with for the last 7 games?
