Anyone know when the away kit is revealed? I would like a new shirt for the new season but I can't bring myself to buy the home kit as it's god awful. There an article on news now rating every home kit ours is number 20 the RS's is number 1 oh dear!

Away kit is revealed on the 10th July mate. Have a look at the official twitter account, there is a preview on there, guessing from that it could be grey!

Hi edds and fellow Blues.
I would like to start with WOW this could be a season not witnessed since the 80s in my opinion but i am realistic enough to know that it depends on whether our new signings and existing players combine and gel together.
Im not going to comment further, instead i'm just going to sit back and enjoy.
Regarding Lukaku tho i noticed a lot of our forward play would breakdown when he was involved in short pass and move scenarios. If we replace him with a striker that can compliment that style of play AND score a similar ammount of goals then we are onto a win situatuon.
However replacing that amount of goals is going to be our challenge.
Eagerly awaiting this season. COYB.

{Ed025's Note - yeah bluey..good luck to the guy..

06 Jul 2017 17:32:57
Here's a thought. a hypothetical one -

Let's just say that all transfer fees and wages were kept secret and that no club were allowed to reveal how much they are paying for players and what there contract values are. I wonder what people's attitude toward transfers and what the topic of conversation would be around transfers?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - great question mate..

06 Jul 2017 20:39:07
My thoughts, for what they're worth, is that this site and others like it would go into complete meltdown.
Football fans of every club will always want to know the ins and outs of transfers and there will always be people who claim to be itk who will pass on information whether it's true or not.
Let's hope it never happens ;)

Why is everybody so desperate for Lukaku to leave? I know he has said some annoying things about the club/ wanting to test himself at the highest level, but are we ever going to sign someone so prolific to replace him? There are glaring holes in his overall game but he's still a young lad learning his game and is going to improve vastly. I for one am going to be so envious watching him play for Man Utd (or Chelsea if they jump in with a bid too) . Imo the goals he scored and the huge fee we are receiving are things we should be grateful for, not giving him constant abuse like so many on here do. Good luck in your new chapter Rom!

Replacements, i like the look of Sandro but does anybody know if he's ready yet to stake a claim to be our number 1 forward or is he likely to be a slow integration to the team? I'd love Giroud but i just can't see him wanting to come, i always thought he'd prefer a move back to France. Fingers crossed on him joining. The question is, do we prefer Dembele or Giroud? I don't see us getting both because neither would be happy moving to us to sit on the bench.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

06 Jul 2017 16:38:20
He wants to leave. that's all there is to it
Get the best deal we can and find the best replacement we can - someone that wants to play for the club.

Agree5 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 16:39:20
Never gave Lukaku abuse but never held back from saying I want him to go. Especially this last 6 months. I just think at this stage it is best for all involved.

Have praised Lukaku and rightly so. He got is plenty of goals. Still I'm not totally convinced he will be the big star everyone is expecting him to be at Utd or Chelsea. Whichever is his next club.

What I'm am certain on is he couldn't of been treated any better at Everton. I'm not talking about him disrespecting the club here. I'm talking about purely football terms and his development.

He was guaranteed starter with Martinez and Koeman. Our style of play, formation everything suited Lukaku and he was catered for any way possible imo.

Will he get those luxuries at his next club? Imho not as much as he experienced at Everton. That's why there is a slight doubt with me that he won't go on to become the world class player he is touted to be.

For me its all good for the club. He done the business while here and made a handsome profit. He has the potential to improve whether or not it will actually happen is not certain imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 15:02:17
I was not really bothered where Lukaku went, but having read these couple of snippets below from the Manchester Evening News
I would love it if he went to Chelsea.

Everton denying fee has been agreed

That is contrary to United's version of events.

Probably just posturing from Everton, who have a bit of an inferiority complex during the transfer window and can get quite uppity about clubs wanting their players.

Everton's transfer window behaviour is nothing new to United

There are few clubs who get quite as affronted about other clubs wanting to sign their players than Everton. They released a statement panning United's joint £28m bid for Fellaini and Baines in 2013 and barely concealed their disgust at Chelsea having the temerity to sign John Stones two years ago. Now they claim they have not agreed a Lukaku fee.

IF Lukaku does not end up a United player then it will look pretty humiliating, but the club do not think that will be the case and Everton's briefing does seem superfluous.

Comments from a media outlet that sounds a little nervous?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jul 2017 17:10:22
Its column inches in the MEN that is all and in fairness not many United fans read that paper as they don't sell it in Essex!
I still feel this saga is far from complete and believe he will be a Chelsea player by the middle of next week. United have done the leg work for Chelsea, who now know the real price that Lukaku can go for.
Thanks for the goals Rom and good luck with your future, if it is at United then I do feel you will struggle to win them titles you crave as their squad is no better than ours.

ED002

There are times when ED002 gets up my nose by not answering a question and trying to put the author down, but I feel the way he handled wirralblue was the exact right thing to do.

Guys we need to remember that the mods ( ED002 in particular ) are very knowledgeable about things that are going on off the field of many clubs, they share their vast knowledge with us and very rarely moan about stuff.

To abuse any mod, not just ED002, is bang out of order and in my opinion deserves an instant ban. When ED002 takes time to write an indepth answer to a FRESH question then myself, and I am sure many others, enjoy reading it, by asking the same question over and over will only get him annoyed, In fairness it annoys the heck out of me seeing the same question time and time again as well.

Guys we really need to stop saying stupid things like " We need a statement signing " " we have a so called warchest " " Lukaku sold us out "

If we don't like the bear roaring at us then we should stop poking it with the stupid stick.

Sorry for the rant.

Emotions ran high when Rooney in his prime left and it is natural people have strong views on lukaku in his prime leaving. both for and against his manner of departure. But there must have been doubts about how we would fare after Lineker left and we did okay. As long as there are two more key additions. creatively and finishing. we should be set for a season which may have teething issues in all gelling together initially but by January will show we are on the right track.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jul 2017 13:49:33
although I was very young when Linekar left my older brother always says before he signed the goals were spread throughout the team then we signed Gary and everything went through him and goals for the team dried up after one season we sold Gary and the team started scoring again this could happen next season as we always looked at playing to lukakus strengths which didn't include holdup play just a thought for next season so maybe Koeman is looking at att players to hit double figures so as the need for a 30 goal season striker isn't a necisity.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 14:35:43
Totally agree Bluey if you look at our signings I feel goals will come from all over the pitch, really looking forward to the season ahead and neither Lukaku going nor the possible tough start will dampen my spirits!

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2017 14:54:37
The season of Lineker we won nothing, either side of him we won the league, often relying on one striker is not the best option so I do not think we will miss Rom.

06 Jul 2017 12:15:32
Let's face it Lukaku was never really taken to heart by the fans. Therefore him moving on won't upset to many, especially given the amount of money we are getting.

And remember he chose us over other clubs, so as a business he has made us a tidy profit. We can move on, and he can go and play with his mate Pogba. Another very over rated player.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

06 Jul 2017 13:34:48
Took me by surprise, you would have thought
Lukaku would have let the supporters know he wanted to join a Champions league team, not done deal yet but £75 Million, take that all Day long.

06 Jul 2017 14:45:37
If I remember right it was only the likes of West brom an other mid table teams no offence to these teams I think we were the biggest team who tried to get him. I may be wrong so correct me if I am.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is from June 2014:

Some months ago Lukaku did something which resulted in Chelsea taking the immediate decision to sell him this coming summer. They may not have made that decision public, but I have explained since that day that the club intends to move him on. In his defence, his player liaison guy has worked (and even with the World Cup going on, continues to work) very hard to get Chelsea to give him a second chance. There is interest from a number of sides including Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Newcastle, Roma, Shakhtar, Zenit, Everton and Spurs are interested although I personally suspect the Borussia Dortmund interest has gone.}

06 Jul 2017 11:36:39
Bit of poker being played by Everton/ Man U?

If the rumours are true about lukaku how can he trust mourhino this time around has he has discarded romelu on 3 to 4 occasions.

Good business i think 75 million never going to get 100 million, not sure he will suit united he was very good at everton because we played to his strengths. No player is bigger than our great club so if he does not want to play for us get rid.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Lukaku did not leave Chelsea because of Mourinho - it was because of something he did which upset some senior peple at Chelsea. It was nothing whatsoever to do with Mourinho.}

06 Jul 2017 11:38:36
I remember clearly Jose saying that he didn't really want him to go, but felt unfair that he couldn't give him the football playing time that he desired, so didn't want to stand in his way. Pretty much like Everton are doing now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He could not have stood in his way. It was others who took the decision.}

06 Jul 2017 12:48:06
Absolutely Ed, I'm just making the point that original post is saying that Jose got rid of him etc etc and should Rom trust him again, when he probably didn't want him to go in the first place. Would you expect Chelsea to now enter the bidding?

£75m although reports has taken a u-turn and said its not accepted would be a very good price for Lukaku.

Personally I'd take hand and all. Very grateful for his time here and his goals. Still think we will be no worse off without him. Good luck to him in every sense of the word.

All can move on when the transfer is completed. Even though we are no further its going to happen sooner or later. Thank god.

Rooney on a free and reportedly ready to take a pay cut to 150k a week.

Id take him for 7.5 million a season all day, especially when there are players a lot worse than him, going for double figures.

If he plays he's getting us 10 goals and 10 assists min a season. Tell me a player who will get that for 7.5 million. (not including Sandro as that was bargain of the summer)

He's not scored in double figures for the past two years and has scored less each season for the past four years. He only scored 5 in 25 last year.

People need to stop thinking we are getting Rooney of old. We're not and there's no magic fountain of youth.

Him signing brings one thing. Column inches. As for the rest we'll see but I'd be more excited with all of the other players we've bought than a player that has been in serious decline for a number of years.

BJ I've Been posting the same months ago when it was first mentioned, everyone seems happy to bring him in just for the profile of the club, he's been away more years than he was ever at the club. We should let this one go and look forward not backward. Just read an article in one of the tags online that summed it up perfect, here's the last colum;

'Rooney has already spent all his peak years at United, that is precisely the point. To the naked eye he appears to have none left, but maybe Koeman knows better. Let us all hope so, for a homecoming hero is always a tale worth telling and it will be good to see Rooney in blue again rather than in China or on the front pages through some sort of boredom-related bother.

Only a killjoy or a spoilsport would add a word of warning to such a feelgood story, but it is only a year since Mourinho had complete faith in Rooney’s undimmed ability and so did Roy Hodgson. Neither found a happy ending. '

Both had faith, both dropped him!
