Said it last game . say it again still think we got rid of Roberto to early šŸ˜€.

He was a nice guy Roberto but anyone who claimed Aiden McGeady was "world class" is obviously delusional. He's done well for himself though on the international stage. Our attacking of teams was good to watch under him but if he only had a defensive answer then we'd probably still have him. He was a revelation in the first season but it got toxic at the end of his tenure.

I will give you that . But on another note how annoying is Rio Ferdinand he has to be the worst pundit for me on TV.

Given the players that Belgium have it does not take a great manager to do well with them. Maybe the appointment of Henry is the reason for there success.
I believe that Belgium will win the world cup but that does not make Martinez a good club manager.
Look at Coleman with Wales great with them but rubbish with a club.
They are different jobs completely and Martinez happens to have great players at the moment nothing to do with him.

Lawro has got to be the worst šŸ¤Æ burns my head out him.

Martinez is a good cup manager but not a league manager.

07 Jul 2018 09:05:45
100% right there Smit. In a short competition like the WC with limited games thereā€™s not much time to suss out a team. But in the prem his tactics become apparent and then exploited.

I will add that the players at his disposal are pure class so expecting similar results given time at Everton would be a little optimistic.

I think he is probably a very good coach. But I wanted him gone almost immediately because after Moyes's reign whereby we constantly signed good young players who were either in our 1st team regularly. or sold on for big profit, Martinez's reign started signing ageing players who just could not cut it. I don't know how much of a role the manager plays in signings, but is says something to me when our best 3 defenders are still Jags, Coleman and Baines. and Moyes went ages ago now. Moyes also bought a few other good defenders such as Neville, Oviedo, Mustafi etc. We have bought and sold defenders since that have quite frankly been poor. eg Alcaraz, Mori, Williams, Keane, Martina. Then look at the quality of players we have sold on from Moyes time. Fellaini, Arteta, Stones. Yes I know that Martinez bought Lukaku and I agree he was a great signing. but hardly any of Martinez's players now feature and these are mainly the ones we are trying to move on. I am not saying in this post that Moyes was great or anything. before people start on me. because like I say I don't know how much say the manager has in negotiations, but since his time our signings on the whole have deteriorated. Maybe something else changed? But no one can argue that we have a better squad now than when Martinez joined. Especially after he signed Lukaku.

Glenn Hoddle for me. Some of his comments, especially about Spuds players are comical.

Everytime I see your posts Degsy, aka David Moyes biggest fan, I think I've sat in a DeLorean and knocked the dashboard to 2013!

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2018 14:03:13
But tell me BJU which players we have signed who are better and either still with us or alternatively we have had good use of and then sold for big profit. Like I said in the post, I am not saying it is down to Moyse and likewise I am not blaming Martinez soley. But up until 2013 we regularly signed playes for 60 grand, 1.5 million, 2.5 million etc and then used for some seasons and sold on for huge profit. Since 2013 I only see that story in Lukaku. Perhaps Walsh? Perhaps others are to blame? But I am only stating facts.

07 Jul 2018 14:24:45
I have done a billion times and even put all of the stats of one v the other. One of the ED's even told you about the finances of Moyes but you still chose to ignore it.

Can't you just leave these types of discussions and talk about something new. You sound utterly nutts. Like completely and utterly crazy. šŸ¤Ŗ.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2018 15:57:27
I remember I think ed001 pointing out that moyse spend was the equivalent to 5th but we finished 7th,6th,5th oh and lower. The money in the game has gone mental over the past half dozen seasons so buying someone 5 years ago and selling them after almost always shows some profit, even if they flop. This has to be taken into consideration when comparing transfer fees.

In reference to the punditry: I think both channels have some awful punditry but I really canā€™t stand itv. Donā€™t mind BBC as Lineker and one or two of the others (never Shearer or Jenas) normally talk sense but itv is normally a let down. Pougatch is good as the anchor as he did a great job on radio before but find the majority of the regular panel unbearable at times, especially Wright, Keane and Aluko. The rest seem ok but are let down by those few. Much prefer the views of players like Fabregas, Zabaleta, Scott and Drogba.

08 Jul 2018 17:39:17
Agree with Dark Clouds, I am not the only one I know that has said consistently of Martinez (when Manager of our Club) that the man is a coach and certainly needed a DoF such as Brands. If that had happened who knows how we would have done. International Coaches already have proven National Talent to choose from.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2018 19:42:54
Trying hard not to be pessimistic but NSNO (a rumour site like this) now saying Everton are after a Peru star. Deja of last season and the season before and the season before. Everton are supposed to have a new DoF a new Coach and a go gettem outlook. But rumours such as let's go for the Columbian lad, Peru lad etc! If true sound like reaction instead of the true course of proaction. We shall see.

I think it could be a good thing isn't the unknown foreign player we were hoping for with Walsh I. e. the next kante or mahrez think we need to give it time sure wheels are in motion.

06 Jul 2018 20:56:29
Who had heard of Richalison or doucoure before they went to Watford?

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2018 21:48:07
It doesnā€™t matter where a player comes from. Think about players like Valencia - Ecuador arenā€™t up to much but heā€™s been a great player. All the big stars were unheard of at one point, so nothing to say we couldnā€™t pull out the next big thing from somewhere like Peru.

If we unearth the next Nobby Solano Iā€™ll be delighted mate. His goal against us for Newcastle with the outside of his right foot from the edge of the box was one of my favourite ever premier league goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2018 22:54:48

Nobby Solano was from Peru but was cracking player for Newcastle Utd.

08 Jul 2018 19:04:24
All I am saying is that it smacks of 'Oooh he had a good game at the World Cup'. I honestly believe that Brands in particular is very good at his job, so mark up most of that stuff as the cheap rag headlines. Throw enough and some will stick.

06 Jul 2018 17:12:48
Seriously I don't know why this rumour/ banter page even exists, most of it is complete bollocks and stressess everyone out, most people just moan about the posts and the eds get pi%$ed off which is understandable, manly 002 ed haha, still keep having a look at it though, let's just hope all goes well this year and we make if not giant but progressive strides towards being a competitive side that makes us all proud.

A lot of the time it's because people take things personally and so they get angry. Others because they can't see someone might have another point of view.

I'm with you on next season. No expectations of where we finish but just a move back to playing good football with attack in mind.

Why does ed-02 get so obviously irritated with people asking questions and buying into rumours.? Is this not the point of this site?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - where does it say it is a Q&A site?}

06 Jul 2018 14:59:18
Thing is Liam it's usually the same stuff over and over. sometimes he gets abuse too so why should he bother. His knowledge is second to none really and I can recall him being wrong only a couple of times.

Agree4 Disagree1

06 Jul 2018 16:02:09
Calling out the Eds unnecessarily like that is half the reason they get so annoyed and stop sharing information. Rightly so imo. Please don't do it again because this site is a goldmine of accurate information when used properly.

Agree4 Disagree0

06 Jul 2018 19:35:45
Liam the Eds don't have to do this you know and this is a rumour site. Ed002 as an example does not suffer fools gladly, a trait many of us should follow, he (or she) does also appear to have good sources of information, invariably correct. Didn't some posters also agitate for an Ed002 return?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Jul 2018 20:22:06
Yes a few of us really appreciate ed2 so when he stepped away from the Everton page due to the abuse he was missed all the eds have a knowledge of the game I could personally only wish for and if u take the time to see there replies you will see the undoubted knowledge ed2 in particular seems to have of the way the football works he takes great time in constructing seriously knowledgeble replies look at the response to transfer targets last week look at the intricate knowledge he has on finances yes he dosent suffer fools gladly and at times comes across maybe a bit short with his replies but look at the posts he has to deal with this isn't his job it's obviously a pastime and he clearly enjoys it but there is a limit were all adults if people don't like his input or views that's your call But no need for the nastiness that comes out it's easy really u don't like the response u don't like the site don't come on it it's easy to be a keyboard warrior but personally I value the insight that's gleaned from this site
We need to remember were all evertonians posting in this part we all want what's best for the club and the bickering and arguing isn't the way we will have differing opinions that's life but surely we can all see we all have 1 common wish which is for Everton to be the best they can be.

Just read that arsenal may off load Ramsey.

I think Everton tried for him when he chose to move to Arsenal. What do you think our chances are of landing him now?

I suspect he would want European football but heā€™s the sort of player we should be looking to sign isnā€™t he?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

06 Jul 2018 10:36:45
Iā€™d sign him just to stop him scoring against us.

Agree3 Disagree1

06 Jul 2018 21:56:10
Heā€™s a good player but think weā€™re fairly well set I in his position. TBF I think weā€™re quite well set in most areas aside from cover at RB, a long term LB and another striker, providing we get Lookman back on board.

I'd be surprised if we even showed a flicker of interest.
As repeated by every footie fan for 5 years. talented lad but made of glass. Lst him stay in Londinium and take his sick pay of 100k a week.
Stay away from unnecessarily problematic situations. Havnt we just learnt a very tough lesson?
