Ed, have I been banned or something? I've posted twice now, and they've both not gone through. If I have, then I apologise profusley for what ever it was that got me banned. Cheers :)

I haven't a strong opinion either way about the player in question - and everyone else is entitled to their opinion of course - but Roberto Martinez has expressed a good opinion of the player and stated his surprise at the heavy criticism, so I would tend to go along with RM's assessment. If RM brought him to the club (however unlikely), would you support him like any other player who has the honour and privilege to wear the Royal Blue shirt?
Think of Gareth Barry and James McCarthy - two players whose incoming transfers were heavily criticised at the time, but who have turned out to be top class performers for us this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally had my fingers crossed for Barry and McCarthy as I rated them both highly. Some players that we have ben linked to, I have been a little sceptical, but with the prospect of Cleverly it is different. He is a player with tecnical ability but he misses something from his game. His role seems to go no further than short un-creative passes in the midfield. While, I wouldn't say he has a negative impact, he has no positive impact either ands seems to have little or no influence on the game. I believe with the right tutorship he could become a decent player as he has got some atributes needed to be a decent midfielder. But at the moment, he is useless, not worth the risk to try and develop him when there are better options around. I also believe that the best thing that could happen to him is to be loaned out to somebody like Aston Villa were the expectations are not as high as United's.

Agree0 Disagree0

With no disrespect to villa.

I would not support him if he came here, he is the worst footballer to ever live, remember ali dia? Bret angell? Or emile heskey? They were great compared to him, he has NO footballing ability whatsoever, we would be a laughing stock if we brought that pile of p*ss here, I would happily pay a lifetime wages to stop him being a footballer, I signed that petition to get him banned, if he goes to brazil against the likes of iniesta, pirlo, oscar and schweinsteiger it will be hilarious, again i'm not exaggerrating, THE WORST, MOST TALENTLESS PLAYER TO WALK THE EARTH

I'd like to hear the thoughts on some posters hoping we can at least get the Europa, I think the competition is floored anyway, the financial gain for the tavel you have to do is awful and after going 500 miles threw Europe you get Napoli next round.

For a squad of our size I'd say it would be a knitmare, I dread to think we're we would be this year with casualties we have had, obviously I'd want us to win FA cup but getting in threw the league would be no reward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would be exciting, but we must have a much bigger squad with quality in depth. That's not only by bringing in experienced players, but also by the best of our U-18 and U-21 players stepping up to the mark for the first team. Add in a few good domestic and foreign loanees and we might be able to compete in all competitions. If we don't build the squad, then injuries, suspensions, inability to rotate tired/jaded players, etc., will take its toll and we'll surely have an unsuccessful season. By success, I mean winning a cup (or at least having long cup runs) and finishing in the European qualifying league positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only benefit I see is, we would need to strengthen the squad and from what RM was saying on the EFC site it seems he may be given money to do so.

We would definitely need more players but I get the feeling the squad would be filled with average Joes, to give moyes credit he would never if done that, now and again he missed out but would never by a player for an extra face, i.e mcgeady

Mikedeblue, what about mcfadden when he came back, oviedo and hitzelsperger? They were added just to make up the numbers, unlike those players, martinez actually intends to use mcgeady which is more than I can say for e.t

Ye but Kone, Alcaraz, traore all brought in all unable to play and even if fit not the best, moyes at least tried to keep the core team and build player by player, I wouldn't want us to overload with 3, 4, 5 mil, Like you say mcgeady brought in to play and he isn't that good, the 3 you mention we're to cover. Don't get me wrong I don't want moyes one bit and Martinez is the way forward but I'd rather he stick to a core team rather than quick fixes and cheap alternatives

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a bit harsh to use Kone, Alcaraz and Traore, it's easy to moan about their injuries in hindsight. I think McGeady looks a decent player for us. he keeps the ball well, seems to have the simple passing game about him, can create chances, and can go pass players. We would have paid a small amount for him and I think it was a good transfer

I see that Martinez said in his press conference this morning that if we are to reach Europe and compete then we will need to strengthen the squad in the summer. It seems that this time of year that is the party line, it's either rumours of a takeover being leaked or we will be making signings in the summer etc. heard it all before. I think the club need to put up and back Martinez or shut up!

my ideal summer would be
lukaku 15 mil but if not possible finnbogason for 5 mil
batsyuayi 7
colback free
barry free
hibbert year extension as back up for when we get europa league
kasper sechimal on free
gomis free

out
osman 2 mil
guyge 1 mil
vellios 2 mil

17 mil spent if we get lukaku or only 7 if we get finborgosan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That might be an ideal summer, but in my humble opinion:
Chelsea would want £20 million and counting for Lukaku and the player may want Champions League football. A fee that size might not leave much in our so-called war chest.
Osman is liked by Roberto Martinez, so I don't see him being transferred - especially if we're in Europe.
Gueye might well leave and we might get a token fee as he's contracted until 2015.
Vellios is only contracted until June 2014, so he might leave anyway - albeit we might get some small compensation fee as he's under 24 - although not, I believe, if he goes to a European club.
If we qualify for Europe, the expectation is that we'll see an increase in the squad size - which probably means few if any senior players leaving, several experienced players coming in, and the best U-18 and U-21 players being promoted to the senior squad, or given longer to develop, or released.
In addition, there'll surely be another batch of domestic and foreign loanees.

Last summer's transfers have, by and large, been quite successful. The January transfer window was good in that we kept our best players. The next summer transfer window (RM's third transfer window at Everton) will surely be a defining moment for him and the club. It's said that managers basically succeed or fail depending on their recruitment policy - not only incoming and outgoing transfers, but also by bringing in-house youth players through to the first team. The look of our squad once the summer transfer deadline day passes will be critical.

Agree0 Disagree0

True I recon we should but bid in for adrian ramos but heard he's of bvb i'd also take mame diouf from hanover on free transfer would do a job for us maybe but 8 mil bid in for vella

Agree0 Disagree0

Sell Osman for 2m? Give your head a wobble mate. Firstly, he is an important sqaud player, who has had a big impact in games this season. secondly he is product of our youth, a scouse lad, one who knows the club and city inside out and knows what Everton is all about. Furthermore, he is also a big character to have in the dressing room. Ridiculous statment. I don't understand Ossie bashers, get real, we can't have a squad of the quality of Baines' (example) all the way through. Also, on your 'ideal summer signing list', you have no replacement for Osman. Osman's done fantastiocally for this club, and still has a big role in our squad. Some fans don't show him the respect or appreciation he deserves. I'm proud to have Osman in our squad and would be absolutely gutted if he left. He's a rare gem our Ossie!

Clattenburg confirmed as Saturday's ref. Seriously!? Looks like 6th place is even more important for our European qualification next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh no, not him! Should be banned, a shocking referee particularly for some of the worst football decisions - most of which are placed on EFC shoulders. Can't the club hierarchy appeal and for the FA to listen.
