Hi Ed I was at the match on Sunday and it was not the best, i have to say there was so many silly mistakes by certain players, Robles first too any mistakes, Leighton had an off day so did Barry he has been great for us but now sadly age has caught up with him, also Ross he seemed out of sorts, Rom had no service till Kevin and Jimmy Mac came on and we get two goals, i think we will see some big changes to this current team after the summer we had been good up to this but if we want to step up and challenge the top four we have to be better with better players, GuernseyBlue.

GB personally I think Ross got a lot better once Barry went off and he moved back into midfield.

I'm with you Woburnblue I actually think Ross had a decent game he was always trying to get us higher up the pitch when he had the ball unfortunately with Barry being on we where too deep and kept losing the ball and this debate over Ali and Barkley I think barkley is a better all round player and it is just my opinion but I actually don't think Ali is that good.

So red Muppet Carragher thinks Barkley wants to leave. Is it MR Red Muppet, your fearing the Tsunami called Everton Football Club being the number 1 Merseyside club. Are u worried that our stadium will be bigger and newer. Are u worried that Everton have a specific plan, that we have the best scouter in the game. Maybe the best young talent coming through. An owner who is willing to spend (oh my if Usmanov joined) . Are u worried that you need to make absolute garbage up to get Ross offside, with fans.

I do find it difficult to understand why Koeman doesn't play Holgate other than the Stoke game he has been terrific every time I've seen him, he has loads of pace, confident on the ball aggressive and let's Coleman do what he does best get forward, I wish I could say the same for Mori on the other side.

To add further, I think Barry, when he plays throws the whole system out. Baines and Coleman aren't as aggressive getting down the flanks, poor old Ross busts an absolute boiler trying to cover Barry and being offensive, I feel like we play with 10 men. Mirrallas should be starting. Holgate should be starting, If we are ever going to beat these sides above us, we need to get out of the loser Mentality and go defensive. The saying goes attack is the best form of defence, not defence is the best form of defence. Anyway I suppose it's better than fighting relegation (like last season) .

I tend to agree with your tactic points Aussie. but I guess Koeman just wanted to do a back 4 with Barry's experience in front. rather than back 3 with wing backs. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. but I also feel Barry is now past his best. I would def give Holgate a run.

Don't see it as hindsight Degsy. It has been pretty obvious even to us unqualified observers that Barry is just too slow especially against a team like Spurs. IMHO a back three was called for with Holgate the obvious choice. Koeman made a mistake and the team suffered for it.

I agree BlueMike. but about 8 games ago (and I forget which game it was) Koeman brought Barry back in and he was man of the match. We then went on a 9 game unbeaten run. We are doing so much better than last season and I am positive for the first time in years. so I for one will accept that the manager makes 100 decisions every week and that he is better qualified than me to make them. He is also allowed to make the odd mistake without us all getting on his back and complaining.

Over the Wayne Rooney situation, we all know Wayne is great player but where does he fit in Koeman's criteria of wanting players of high energy, closing down, fitness, ok if he is just there to play Lukaku in and score himself a few then fine, then we would have to play a back 3 of exceptional quality and pace which at this moment we don't have, along with aquality Pacey left sided attacker which we might have in Lookman, he would have to build the team around Wayne to bring out his undoubted ability to take Everton to the next level.

Good point Uran. But Rome was not built in a day. and as an example I would say a 50% fit Rooney would be more useful to our squad than Deulofeu any day. Rooney also works like a Trojan every game. He may have lost a bit of pace, but his team contribution is amazing. He is no longer the selfish moody little kid who left us. He is a mature player with wonderful ability and is Man Utds highest ever goal scorer. Probably with 2 or 3 sesons left in him. To me it is a no brainer.

I thought Everton were doing well upto the first goal, I could see spurs looking at bit ordinary, then bad errors of judgement let them back in, not sure why Schneiderlin was so deep, but nevertheless it was a bad decision from our keeper, always liked Barry but he was exposed yesterday but Spurs are a excellent team, would like to see Holgate and Pennington given a proper chance in the team to the end of the season.
