Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Haven't posted in a while just thought the emotions of the weekend have gone, I would just like to say that BK's speech after the match just shows that he is the only person that can take us forward, I know he can't provide major funds when we need them but he obviously cares about our club a hell of a lot, if we do eventually get a takeover I would hope that he is still in a chairman like position as everything he does it's in the best interests of the club a lot of people say every season he lines his pockets with money that should go to the club well we will see in the summer. Champions league is now for the takings as the Arse normally stumble late on in the season. - Thoughts on BK Ed?

CIBlue

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i respect him a hell of a lot CI, i love his passion and commitment to the club even in adversity from supporters who should know better..

Agree totally. Bill is the chairman but more importantly a fan.his pre match interview showed what this club means to him.id certainly have no qualms about him being kept as chairman if a takeover happened.

Agree0 Disagree0

CIBlue,

You deserve to be where you are at the moment and you totally played us off the park yesterday mate, but don't write us off too soon my friend.

In the meantime, enjoy because you have been one of the best teams in the prem this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Boys (and girls) we are lucky to have someone in Bill Kenwright who has the club's best interests at heart. OK so he might not have the billions or trillions that other owners have at their disposal but you only have to look at the way other clubs have been duped when taken over. Cardiff, Hull, Newcastle and Fulham stand out as prime examples where the fans are the last to be consulted when it all goes wrong. Name changes, shirt colours abandoned and a succession of managers in a desperate attempt to make money for the owners rather than show any allegiance towards the history and heritage of the club.
We do things the right way and results are going our way at present. Uncle Bill chose Roberto when other clubs scorned because Wigan went down last season. He was always my choice after Moyes chose the poisoned chalice of the bigger buck down the M62 and how he must be regretting that now.
If we can finish 4th this year (or even 5th if push comes to judge) then Kenwright will have been proved right in choosing a progressive manager who has taken us further than Moyes would have done.
It's still a tall shout but our destiny is now in our hands, despite a tough run in. Let's go for it and see where we end up next month.

I think after yesterdays result, the expectation has really gone up a notch.
Yes the gooners side that took to Goodison Park yesterday lacked fight and surprisingly pace and strength however our accuracy of passing, skill, finding of space and effort were second to none.

As of today our destiny is in our own hands but I do believe we are going to have to rely on others to give us a helping hand with the run in we have got. Every game is a cup final from here on in however if we put in shifts like we did yesterday we are still going to be thereabouts.

We won't have Barry available for the Man City game and he is only one booking away from another ban, so we have to be ready for a bit of disruption, however as I stated on a previous post Martinez seems to be bringing a tactical appreciation to our players asking them to play out of position for the greater good.

There is no doubt we are one of the best teams in the Premier League and I truly believe yesterdays result ment far more to our club than we realise. I now think players will want to come to Goodison to play. I think they will see what is happening and what is evolving. Any young wannabe premiership player should look long and hard at where he wants to develop and think about money later in their careers when they have become international class.under Roberto.

We are a work in progress still, but what progress we have made and long may it continue. If we can really transform our youth in to Premier league class then we are on to a winner. Nil Satis Nisi Optimum has never had so much meaning from here on in.

I have confidence in the boys as they really do not have anything to fear. Go for the jugular. go for broke. let's show all the clubs left to play what it means to be an Evertonian and also send Utd and City away from Goodison with tails between their legs. Forgots our neighbours, forget the gooners this is about us and now has to be our time!

Seen Sherwood is leaving Spurs. I think Adebayor could be worth a shot if we can get him for 2 or 3 million. He would really suit Everton as he has all the attributes to become a world class striker. I believe that Roberto can get the most out of him. This is as I read an article the other day and it said that Martìnez makes pplayers feel special. Would be a great signing. IRWT. COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes not for me EM, hes very lazy imo and would command big wages..

A few weeks ago, on the Sunday Supplement TV programme, one of the journos spoke very confidently about Norwich City sacking Hughton (which they now have) and appointing Sherwood at the end of this season. This might be one of those rare (almost unique!) occasions when a journo might have got the story right.
As for Adebayor: if RM actually signs him, then fine and I'll support that - but the player doesn't appear to be the sort of 'character' that RM would bring into the squad, as Adebayor's reputation suggests that he could (potentially) disrupt the group's camaraderie and self-evident team sprit.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im with you sid..

Cowpat you're right. Adebayor is a journey man who wouldn't anything better than what we have already. His wages would be huge and he is not worth the risk. Too expensive, too old and too much of a gamble.

Here's one for you regarding England at the World Cup. In my opinion one of our biggest weaknesses is at centre back. Out of all the usual Roy candidates I only really rate Jags and Cahill. I think Stones is actually better than all the rest and I would seriously think about taking him. But there's one man who I rate above all right now and I don't understand why for footballing reasons he is never mentioned as an option. Sylvain Distin. As far as Fifa is concerned he's 100% English (if he wanted to be). The rules for Association team eligibility are quite complex but since he has never represented any nation at any level in official competition he can request a change of association since he is eligible for UK citizenship after 10+ years residency. Let's say he had played a few games for France U21s, he would not be eligible to change to England because he was not an English National at the time of his first U21 appearance. This is why you are seeing Januzaj reject all these call ups to the Belgian youth teams. He's not qualified as an English national yet. If he played for Belgium u21s now it would deem him ineligible forever with England. Don't buy the Kosovo curve ball.

But back to Distin. Why not? He is a top defender. At the World Cup you need experience. Sure I'm speaking with the blue glasses on but compared to Smalling and jones? Every World Cup we get battered. The number of defences we have tried. Why not just leave it up to Everton? Distin, Jags (Stones?) Baines. They can't do any worse. Forgot the politics if he was English and had never been called up he is playing well enough to get in on merit. Look at Diego Costa for Spain. Would we be as accepting of this kind of player playing for England, Januzaj for example? I would. We need to move with the times. Multi cultural word, duel nationality is wide spread. If they want to wear the English shirt with pride I'd back them 100%. But they need to be asked first, something our FA seems a bit scared to do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good info that oli, I would take in a heartbeat mate, and that's not wearing blue tinted glasses..

07 Apr 2014 15:16:13
Interesting original post, but he's rejected international football before in order to concentrate on being fit and available for Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Good idea Oli. Me myself, I would take Stones. I think Stones and Cahill would be awesome. When you look at his rate of progress, Stones has been quite (to quote RM) incredible. When I first saw him, I thought he made too many mistakes. Sometimes he gets caught in possession. I think he is getting caught less and less each game. We have won 6 on the run with him in the team and conceded only 4 goals. He has played against some decent center forwards and has not looked under any pressure. I have no doubt that as long as he remains fit, he will be an England regular and perhaps even captain within a couple of years. Not only do Everton need to base our team around him, I believe England will.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the WC has come too soon for Stones but I agree that he has a tremendous recent run in the side and is one for the future. If he becomes the future Everton captain then why not an England regular and possible captain as well? But this is years away to be honest as he still has a lot to learn and can only happen with further games under his belt. I see JS as the replacement for Distan over the next 2 years. After all who could give him a better learning process especially if he's given European experience under Jags and Distan next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he rejected Guadolope 2 seasons ago. But this is England, if the manager asked him I think he would. But it's irrelevant I guess because he won't ever get asked, he's 'too old' now anyway. It's an interesting one for future players tho. Januzaj especially. Morgan Schneiderlin is on the verge of qualifying too under this rule.

One of the best performances I have seen for a long time, some of the play yesterday was reminiscent of the halcyon days of Catterick and Kendall. My only complaint is once again the media's response, if Coleman's two bits of skill had been performed by certain others we would never hear the last of it, Redknapp whingeing about Naismith off side, and Brazil and Warnock on going on about Everton getting in Arsenals face, nothing whatsoever about the football that was played. Never mind the doors to the School of Science have re-opened.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I love it - just love it - when an Evertonian is one of the pundits and shows his bias towards us. Therefore, I don't object to other pundits showing their bias to their former clubs. However, I do object to any pundit talking rubbish and rolling out the same clichéd, opinionated, ill-informed, claptrap. The only reason the majority of them are pundits is because they haven't got the skill, courage, or determination to hack it as a manager or coach. Having said that, there are some who are worth listening to - but you all know which ones are complete wasters.

Totally right Cowpat. Stick it up 'em!

I am trying to wait 24 hours after matches to write my thoughts so they are not as full of emotion as immediately after or during a game.

For me there were 3 stand out performances yesterday. Baines and Coleman played great but I expect nothing less from either of them, same for Distin. Barry is so consistent again I expect nothing less, Mirallas has all the ability in the world so that is the type of performance he should be generating.

Howard was immense, he has his critics (not me) but the save from Poldoski was brilliant, the touch on to the bar from Ox was magnificent, his quick thinking prevented us from going one nil down to a bad back pass, to going one nil up started all from his composure and fast thinking.

Stones, I have slated him on here. The last two games have completely changed my opinion of him. Against Liverpool and Arsenal away I felt he was awful, the main area of weakness was his positional sense. Despite this still needing work, the confidence he has got from a run of games has brought out he qualities, primarily his distribution but also he does seem to have the knack of attracting the ball to him when making blocks.

McCarthy - the guy is my personal player of the season. His work ethic, tempo, stamina, speed of thought set the tone for the rest of the team. He completely prevented any of the arsenal centre midfielders getting in to a flow. Hats off to him, 13 million price tag could have got to him but he has been awesome.

Naismith - great to see a guy turn his career around, he was on the Everton scrap heap a few months ago, Martinez gave him a final chance in his favoured position and he has not looked back. Energy and footballing intelligence in abundance. Great player to have in the squad if used correctly.

Lukaku and Barkley seem to have formed a good understanding, Lukaku for me is still hot and cold but when he is hot he really takes his chances. It is strange how few clear goal scoring opportunities come his way over a 90 minutes but he must have a pretty good ratio in converting them. Ross was great today, I can't say if and when he has a good game because I believe he is potentially so good that nobody knows yet what a good performance would be.

Finally the manager. What a great figure head for our beloved club. Put tactics, results and performances aside for one minute, just as a man he seem approachable, he is contagiously positive and he clearly knows how to get short term results while also seemingly planning for the future if reports to Finch Farm modifications are to be believed. On to the football side he has shown flexibility, yesterday sacrificing possession to attack Arsenals weaknesses. Playing Lukaku on the right. He has got it wrong a couple of times this season but if anything having played Arsenal twice already, yesterday showed he can learn and adapt for the benefit of the club, which will transfer down to the players that they need to learn and adapt as well.

Faultless yesterday, wonderful performance and result, great atmosphere by the sounds of it. I know the Arsenal have an "easier" run in however I think we could be 4 points clear of them after the Palace game with them dropping points away to Hull and us picking up wins at Sunderland and home to Palace. If that does happen then we could essentially lose the City game as long as we give Davey a very unwelcome return to Goodison.

Great post Svenny totally agree.

Sorry used the wrong word there ed let's just say dislike
A question for you ed
it is the last day of the season
you are up against city
you win you qualify for CL we win the league
you draw or lose you don't qualify we don't win the league
what would be your choice ed?
Can't bring myself to wish you lot luck do let's say may the best team qualify for CL

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - it has to be us qualifying for the CL reet..but with a heavy heart. I would prefer if city whacked you on Sunday, and had the league wrapped up before we played them mate..

Were going in the right direction, I'm made up with how we are doing. We have a fantastic chance of qualifying for the CL, we have fantastic experienced players, great young lads with masses of potential, an unbelievable manager, So much belief, so many aspirations, our hope and dreams seem more realistic, the feeling around the club is immense, we are playing very attractive football, are financially stable, seem to have large funds in the next widow and seem to have a real chance of landing top quality players such as Lukaku, we are on form at the right time we have team spirit. I couldn't give a balloon what Liverpool do. The love for our club comes well before any dislike for any other clubs. COYB!

Agree0 Disagree0

Okay reet here is another hypothetical question this time for you
Its the last day of the season you are playing Man U
If you win you are relegated and we win the the quadrupple.
If you loose you are relegated and we only win the CL FA L cups.
Which do you choose?

Oh hold on I don’t really care our destiny is in our own hands. But then this is the Everton page isn't it. Do one mate or post sensible banter we are blues and support our team. There is only one answer Ed25 or any true blue would ever give and that's we win.

Agree0 Disagree0

But we are not playing City in the last game of the season. So why don't you do one because that's not going to happen. Come back on here once you've lost against Citeh and see if anyone gives a zeppelin about your season once youse have blown it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Zeppelin! like it Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reet mate a lot of Evertonians don't really care. We take CL all day. If that means you win the League then fine that's fair play to you. I don't have a habit of knocking league champions. Over 38 games, if you win the league you deserve it. LFC have given teams hidings this season, they've played top football, it's there for all to see. You have to be pretty blind to not admit that. There's a rivalry between us but I couldn't name any blue who would sooner miss out on CL just so you guys miss out on the Title. I hate to say it because I do hate Liverpool on principle but you've played the best football this season. Provided you don't BOTTLE it it's yours.

This was my post after we lost to Chelsea. And may I say so far I was right. I remember most supporters that day wrote of our chances but alas the always positive Aussie Toffee did not and look where we are 37 days later. c'mon Everton

23 Feb 2014 00:05:42
Very unlucky not to get appoint today but that is it. We have now played Man City, Chelsea, Spuds, Gooners, Red rubbish and Manchester United all away. So we have played all top six teams away. So as an Everton fan I don't expect us to lose another game in the league this year. Now while there is a heart beat there is still life and its too early to say we still can't get that 4th spot as remote as it is. Beat West Ham and Newcastle with the home game against Crystal palace still in our back pocket and you never know!

Cheers

Aussie Toffee

{Ed025's Note - I like the way your schooner is always half full aussie, makes a nice change from the doom and gloom merchants mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we are in with a shout Aussie, but a long way to go, but it would be fantastic if we did mate..

Hats off to you Aussie Toffee. I am probably one of the gloom and doom merchants and I have to admit I never saw it that way. But I will enjoy the next few games and certainly am walking round with the cheesyist grin around.

Surely Lukaku's celebration with Martinez means he wants to come back?

Have got to say you guys blew arsenal out of the park today
Arsenal were also shockingly poor
salivating at the thought of knocking you guys out of cl next year
just play football like this in the city game and do us a favor
YNWA
P.S just for clarification ed 025 do you hate liverpool more or love everton more?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - I don't hate anyone reet, my 2 sons are both staunch reds actually, but I have to say, I would be very happy if you were to not win the league, I don't think I could stand the condescending smugness of most of your fans, it's just pure rivalry though, unlike the hatred that you have shown to united when they were at their pomp. And can I just say that the only favours we will be doing will be for everton mate, I wish I could say good luck, but it goes against everything I believe in fella..

Totally agree Ed, their smugness is becoming increasingly noticeable as the season draws to a close. Just hope that Man City do one over them at Anfield to put them back where they belong.

Hi ed, not posted in months but still been reading. I am posting about lukaku and what I have reciently is a lot, by no means all wouldn't like to sign him but I think he is a must, I mean he is a 20 year old and already scoring 13(+) league goals for us he is also a striker that gives us another option, for example, if our passing game isn't working then we can put some balls into the box for him. For me I would only like to sign someone proven from the premier league for next season as if we invested 15 mil in a striker from another country there's no saying how they'd do, soldado is a perfect example of this and you have to say if he was banging them in the chances are spurs would be higher up in the league. I'm all for buying from abroad but I just feel we really need a premier league proven striker. and also, Romelu and Ross are both 20. imagine their partnership I'm 3/4 years! They'd be unstoppable!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he would be a great signing D, but Chelsea will want top dollar, or Barkley as part of the deal I'm hearing mate..

07 Apr 2014 09:33:18
What a performance, I don't like to blow my own trumpet but I said attack Arsenal from the off and we will get our rewards. Champions League here we come.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - a long way to go yet sunny, but we are certainly in with a shout mate..

Ed do you think we should consider offering roberto an contract extension already to keep the vultures away or leave it a bit longer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - no need yet for me Dave, the guy is an honest loyal manager and will stay as long as he is wanted and respected mate..

07 Apr 2014 02:45:46
I love jags but when he is fit he must NOT go straight back in, jags, for me, in terms of out and out defenders is world class and easily one of the best in the league but he is a woeful footballer, his constant hoofing is annoying and he seems nervous against any opposition on the ball, stones is a good defender and a very talented young footballer, he won't defend aswell as jags, yet, but he starts attacks and is so confident in his ability, its difficult, but the way stones is playing it would be cruel to chuck him out the team and let me just repeat I love jags, 5m or whatever we paid was a bargain but stones just suits our play more, yes he makes mistakes but he's making them at the age of 19, he will only get better, jags is the finished article, jags is a better defender, stones is a much better footballer, its difficult for el tactico but for me stones must be allowed to further his impact pn the first team

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Swan, see my post above mate. This is exactly what I believe as well. Stones has been quite incredible and just has to stay in the team. He may cost us the odd goal whilst still learning, but he plays football on the ground. Whereas Jags plays percentage balls down the line time after time. This is ok if we are under pressure, but gives the ball straight back to the opposition straight after he has won it after making a tackle.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Jags looked a bit doughy round the middle before his injury. He wasn't up to full fitness after his last spell out and then his most recent injury may have seen his diet go a bit tits up. His pace has been a bit off when he's played this season.

Not many teams have what i'd call 'captain material' but by god do we have a few, tim, seamus, jags, distin, baines, barry, mccarthy, gibbo, bet naismith would be good too not to mention john and ross as future captains, not bad

A lot of people continue to bag Moyes . but remember, recent heroes Coleman, Stones and Naismith were all brought in on the cheap by the Ginger One. With these young players, Bobby Brown Shoes' loan gems . and a bit of money in the kitty for new transfers . skies are blue not grey.
Who will RM get in . Bony? Remy? Lukaku? Others?

Watched the game on MOTD expecting to see Coleman's lovely bit of trickery late on, but they didn't show it, let alone mention it. It's a cliche, but if a Brazilian - or one of (current) top four club's players - had done it, the pundits would have been drooling over it. Bitter - moi? Heaven forfend. ;-)
