I think we are going to win at Arsenal tomorrow in the same way I thought we would win at Manchester United this week, Call me an optimist.
"I am fundamentally an optimist. Whether that comes from nature or nurture, I cannot say. Part of being optimistic is keeping one's head pointed toward the sun, one's feet moving forward. There were many dark moments when my faith in humanity was sorely tested, but I would not and could not give myself up to despair. That way lays defeat and death."

It's mushy ed I think our country is under cyber attack, all planes grounded this morning!

{Ed025's Note - cracking post mate..

I hope we give him a minutes applause that echo's through out London and into the home counties today.
One of us is going to be disappointed today but it will be nothing compared to the worlds loss this week.

5 th place keeps you nicely off the radar and all the attention on others so your ready to pounce next weekend onwards.

Don't go and do anything stupid like going second, every team that has gone from 5th to second at game 15 has gone on to be relegated year after year down to the conference north, trust me this is not the time to get all the headlines, next week and the week after that, that's when you need to be in the lime light again, BUT NOT TOMORROW, just trying to help :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're pretty much always written off, so even if we beat you tomorrow we won't be mentioned as contenders for Champions League football

Agree0 Disagree0

Nicely humorous original post :-) but also seems to have a hint of real worry deep down ;-)
BaronHardup

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Baron most certainly am worried mate, and was long before you went to old Trafford and did brilliantly.
I was confident going to Dortmund and I am very confident going to city next week, if we get three points tomorrow I will be very happy and relieved, not sure why but got a bad feeling about it I can't shake off

Agree0 Disagree0

Gunner62: I know a few Arsenal fans and they're good people. They never got arrogant about their club's success - unlike the fans of some other clubs that you and I could both name!

This is from the Daily Mail TV section today in their pick of the day from tomorrow's sport :- Quote - "Arsenal v Everton. 3.30pm ssn 1. Two teams that like to play attacking, flowing football meet in what should be a stylish Premier League fixture."
I'd forgotten how long it's been since we were talked about in those terms! Well done Robbie M. I was one of those pessimists who wondered what would happen this season, but the signpost marked "Wildest Dreams" was passed quite a few miles back!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's still early days in RM's management of Everton, but it's good to see so many previous doubters now enjoying the positive start.

So there we have it. Win at Arsenal and go joint 2nd. 4 points behind the Gooners. Will be a tough one. Would take a draw but with a bit of luck and skill we can hopefully sneak a win.
No game is easy in the Premiership. Take one game at a time and let's see where we go.

I guess you haven't been watching Utd under moyes this season then mate.

At least our approach to this match away at one of the "big" clubs will be positive under RM - unlike some of the capitulations under DM, like when we lost 0-7 there.

Fair play to the Toon, top club. Just hope for the fans sake you don't get European football. Youl have to listen to Kinnear taking all the credit!

Always had a soft spot for newcastle, hate pardew and kinnear but you have a good team and great fans, our clubs are a lot alike and was made up when you beat united, best of luck for the rest of the season

Seems to me that one of the many reasons that ManUtd are "suffering" is because SAF isn't on the touchline intimidating the officials. It looks like the laws of the game are being properly used once again at Old Trafford and not the SAF version.
BaronHardup

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree with you Baron although you've only got to view the UTD banter page and you'll see that the Mancs are now demanding the immediate sacking of Gollum paving the way for SAF to make a dramatic and face saving return for the rest of the season.

Moyes is getting the sack in the morning.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope not

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't wait till the return at Goodison. Just wish Moyes could of been there.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not too.they might get a manager who transforms the clubs season.while davey is in charge the Manchester United banter page is going to be electric.they all still live in past glories, not realising that the name Manchester United does not guarantee success . Remember notts forest in the 70's.what a team but fortunes change.

Surely Fergie has to take his fair share of the credit for their demise.

While it's hugely entertaining to take the p**s out of ManUtd, DM, SAF, etc., wouldn't it be great if we had the same level of commercial income that club generates (but not their debts!) so that we could really take our club forward. Without that level of income - and notwithstanding RM's potential success - we will struggle to be consistently competitive with the "big money" clubs. For example, wouldn't it be great to have Lukaku, Deulofeu, and other such quality players joining Everton on a permanent basis and playing for us in the Champions League? However, if RM does take us into the CL group stages, then the scenario changes IMHO and the resulting income should be the seed-finance for a period of consistent and continued success.

Can we now leave the Moyes stuff until the return fixture if he's still there?
Tomorrow is a tough one but let's be fair before the season started if you said we'd get at least two points from Manchester United and Arsenal away i'd have bitten your hand off for that.
So whatever happens tomorrow they deserve a big response from us, let's not over react if it goes wrong. The next two at GP is normally a bit flat. let's get it to its bearpit best and get that record.

Whatever happens tomorrow, I am extremely happy with our progress. I always think a spine is the most important part of a team. If you look at our spine right now it is as follows:
Howard: safe hands but can be a bit suspect on crosses. As good as anyone at shot stopping or one on one's.
Jags and Distin: solid. still gaining experience on carrying the ball out of defence, but defensively as good as any other centerback pairing.
McCarthy and Barry: Compliment each other and as hard working as any other center mid pair. Both great tacklers and cover for each other brilliantly. Barry tends to play the more simple pass but on occasions does a fantastic one. McCarthy great at running with the ball.
Lukaku: what can you say? In any team he will create havoc for the opposition. It takes two to mark him and ensures someone like Deulofeu/Mirrallas will be left with space to run into.
All in all we have a great spine. Others such as Osman/Pienaar can come in if we need 5 in midfield. I guess that will happen Sunday. Our flanks also look pretty good. Here is a really good question for you all.when was the last time we had a tanking? ie someone really thrashed us. Not necessarily by scoreline, but when did someone play us off the park? eg had 65% posession? I honestly can't remember. Something must be going ok.

Hi All,

Firstly I have to confess this is the 1st time I've read your page and it looks like you have some great banter between you.

Would also as a gunner like to add that I'm expecting a great game tomorrow and have to say its a hard one to call. You have been consistent, solid and playing some great stuff to add to that.

I've always liked Martinez and it wasn't long ago that a certain Manchester club were saying he wasn't good enough for the best club in the world.

You must be so chuffed to have got rid of Moyes and unleashed the football team in you.

I don't know at this stage where the season is taking either us or you, hopefully some silver wear for us both.

Good luck for the season but maybe not for Sunday. It will be as much a test for us as for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - cheers jenny, i think the footballing world is looking forward to this one, 2 proper clubs serving up a feast of entertainment i hope..

The only thrashing I can think of for a long time is the one Roberto dished out to us in the FA Cup! I remember that Wigan team on the day ripping us to shreds on the counter. They did all the damage in like 5 mins of play? But they had us by the balls all game. Was the day I think a lot of us finally realised we would never win anything with Moyes.

Jenny T, nice post you guys are the benchmark this season. Arsenal always been a joy to watch. Will be a huge test for us tomorrow, expecting a really tough game but the way we have been playing this season we go to Emirates with confidence. Good luck with the title quest.
