He talks a great game. Unfortunately he can't bloody win a real one to save his life.

He can talk the talk as impressively as anyone.
He can be as principled and determined to deliver "good" football as much as anyone.
He can believe in his players as much as anyone and sincerely want them to enjoy playing.
He can cite the DNA of the club as much as anyone and involve club-loyalists like Royle, Ferguson, Unsworth, Sheedy, etc., and not be afraid of speaking to other legends like Howard Kendall.
BUT -
Premier League football is about results and he's just not getting them this season.
Thank goodness that three clubs - QPR, Burnley and Leicester City - look like having worse results than us and will be our lifeline to safety, with us finishing 17th on an abysmally low points total this season.
Ho hum.

This would be the same interview where he claims we do not over pass the ball and in fact he insists it is impossible to do so, and that Tim Howard is having a "strong Season" and is why he replaced Robles as soon as fit again? Yeah it was phenomenal.

It is nothing more than the usual RM bull s@@t to quote Lewis Carroll "The rule is, jam tomorrow and jam yesterday – but never jam to-day."

I'm just a bit surprised that, in all the musings about who should be our next manager, that the name of Eddie Howe hasn't come up. It looks like we won't be in the healthiest of league positions come the end of the season(!), so a big name manager might be out of reach, so we will need a manager who can put together a consistent run of league results & not one who just lives off a few good cup runs/wins. Sound familiar?

Eddie Howe is doing well at Bournemouth, but didn't he return there from Burnley because of family or other personal reasons making him want to be back down south. If he ever does move on, then I'd expect it to be to another southern club.

Interesting that Martin Keown has described RM as looking lost in recent post match interviews, and that he focuses more on games coming up rather than the games that are happening!
Very true! Its almost an attitude of oh well that was bad luck let's put it right in the next game!

Dont do this often, but read the red echo last night. For anyone who hasn't seen it there is a cracking article by Dave Prentice (lifelong blue, married to Dixies grandaughter) about our stubborn manager, and an end piece which has resurfaced from a few years ago from the net, about a letter sent from a wigan fan to the owner/ chairman at the time peg leg whelan. Mirrors everything going on here now.

Don't usually get the Echo myself but agree the article nicely summed up what a lot of posters have been saying for months.

Quick stat update for you Degsy, Osman has 1 goal and 1 assist in the premier league this season, Pienaar has 2 assists so can't quote injury, Baines being top with 8 assists. In Europe ossie has a massive total of 0 assists. This is the playmaker you believe is our saviour? As for Barkley I believe he has talent and needs to be played as a deep lying midfielder in order to fulfill this talent. Maybe a change in midfield of maybe Barkley and McCarthy with Gibson.Adobt a 3-5-2 or 3-5-1-1 formation. We need to play to our strengths for the final 10 games and we definitely need to start controlling games in the midfield area. This is just my opinion well other than the stats which are from whoscored.com which some stats on there suprised me the main one being we have scored twice as many goals from set pieces as Stoke! So much for your total football philosophy fraud.

{Ed025's Note - good point gray..

I am not sure where you got your info from or what constitutes an assist, but in Europe against Wolfsburg away, Ossie played holding midfield. It was probably our best defensive performance this season and he twice won the ball off Wolfsburg and played it forward. Once to Lukaku who scored and the other via Mirallas I think? . both goals were directly as a result of his tackle/interception and ball forwards. He has only played a handful of games too. Compare his stats against: Barry, McCarthy and Besic and the number of games played. I really don't think Ossie is the saviour or even a brilliant player. My support for him stems from the criticism he got earlier in the season when he made a couple of mistakes. But I do think he brings in something different than the possession holding trio of Barry, McCarthy and Besic who do not contribute to our forward play much at all. I can also give some (a bit guessed because I need to look up again) stats that suggest that Ossie has only been involved in 3 or 4 losses all season and in the other 12 ish games we have won 4 and drawn the rest. As a team we have been more effective with him. I think we have won 1 or 2 without him. Surely that means something?
