Everyone's getting excited with 2 wins in a row. we should be winning games like Leicester away against 11 men not 10.this was lucky. Bernard was Ok and the 2nd goal was hit and hope but worked out!
We are doomed. the manager needs to go and we need a complete overhaul from top to bottom!
Thought Mina was good today though.

I agree Tricky. We should bring back Williams from Stoke. We desperately need him and Martina too to strengthen our back line.

Their are at least four main attributes to have in a professional footballer, Pace/ Speed, Technical ability, Football related intelligence and Passion/ Desire. It would be great if all our players would have all four but only the very best fall into that category. Messi for example.
You don't have to have all four to be a great footballer, for example Siggy doesn't have pace but he has the other attributes. On the other hand Walcott has pace but some times like this Saturday I wonder if he has any brains. Schneiderlin on the other hand seems to be lacking all four attributes, always passing side-ways or backwards. Nothing wrong with that tactic, Barcelona does it all the time, however when they attack they do it with pace/ speed.
Over the foreseeable past we have lacked pace, and those with pace have either not been used or have been youngsters learning there trade. What we have now, thanks to Silva and Brands is a forward line with pace to spare. In Richarlison and Bernard we have players who have to varying degrees of all four attributes. These two supplemented by Walcott and Lookman have the pace and ability to open up any defense.
The defense also needed improving with younger and faster players with technical ability and in Digne we have found a very good addition. My hope is that Mina will also add pace as well as aerial ability to the side. In the mid-field in Gomes we hopefully have the mid-field general we have been lacking since Arteta left.
Silva does make mistakes, the Southampton game a prime example, but overall I think the additions we have made this Summer have definitely improved the squad. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

I hope he proves me wrong but I don't think Mina is known for his pace to be honest. I think what I really want from him is someone who can lead the backline, and his aerial ability at both ends of the pitch.

Agreed Tommy but at 6ft 5in or whatever he is his legs should be long enough to allow him to cover the ground quickly.

As Evertonians, we need to all pull together behind the team and manager.

We have three bands at the moment, those that are prepared to give the manager and team a chance to build together, accepting little blips along the way.

Then we have ones who no matter what, will pick at holes, whether it being our opponents not being Barcelona or the away kit being bad, will never give credit or see what is trying to be achieved by our current regime.

Then there are the third band who cannot decide either way, happy to side with good comments along with happy to agree with the doom merchants after a blip.

None of this is helping the team.

For years we have gone from plucky Everton, to a down right shambles.

This season we are looking so much better than we have previously, you can see our manager is trying to get us there, again and it is not an excuse, our season has been hampered by trying a new zonal marking out, suspensions to Richarlison and Jagielka, then an unsettled back line due to Coleman, then Keane injured, Mina and Gomes still out, Bernard now getting up to speed, McCarthy close to returning.

It will take time, but we look to be getting there, our football is so much better to watch.

My only negative on the manager is making too many changes in the cup game, hopefully he will learn from that in the f a cup.

But overall, we are at last looking like a football team.

As Evertonians, we would not let any rival fans slate our team, so let's get behind fellow Evertonians and get our proud club back to where we want it to be.

Onwards and upwards fellow Evertonians.

Good summary bignev. The manager has had to make so many big decisions in such a short space of time. I for one totally agree with him making Tom Davies captain. That is planning for the future. As is his constant use of Holgate, Kenny and of course Davies and Calvert Lewin. Yes perhaps he should have not changed the team for the Southampton game? Perhaps he should have been more cautious in other games? But when he arrived he stated that he knew that Evertonians wanted to see attractive football and he would do his best to provide that. The change in my view has been unbelievable. I would say we are at the level that we were at when Moyes was manager. If Silva can now push us on and get us into that top group of teams, that will give us the foundation for investment and growth to be a truly top team again. Both Man City and Chelsea took some years to build their teams. With patience we can do the same.

I have to say I've been just reading on this sight for a while and not posting alot, it doesn't matter what we do, who we have in charge, it seems to be the same people always trying to find anything to find fault, we are playing better, we've had injuries, we had silly sending offs, now this will effect the team, now we have players coming in, and we are playing good football, we aren't world beaters, but we are now in with a shout at beating anyone, away yesterday 17 shots, last season it may of been 2 shots, and that's if we had a good game, patience is what is needed, this is going to be fun season where we win a nd lose, but it will be entertaining, next season will be the big season where Silva will know 100% where he needs to strengthen, just enjoy the show.

Anyone else falling in love with Everton all over again?!

We're 10th and I'm not complaining one bit about it. Just to see us play football again and go for the win is such a contrast to last year. Plus the system we are playing is the Everton I know.

Tricky wingers using the full width and over lapping wing backs. Also the ability to mix it up with a fluid front four that must be a nightmare to pick up.

At the back we are getting better each game but we need to be careful when over committing, especially at corners. Three games on the bounce we've been caught out on the break from them and been lucky to have not conceded more than the one today.

However, good today and can't wait until. Palace now.

Funny ain't it BJU. Earlier in the season we were conceding at set pieces all the time. and last season. Yet now we seem to have sorted that out and we have started conceding on the break. Schneids (previously Barry) were good at stopping that with constant fouls. But like you I prefer the open football. What we need now is a Rat. A defender with incredible acceleration and pace to get the tackle in just as the forward is pulling the trigger. Perhaps Holgate will improve and be that guy with Mina being the set piece stopper? Certainly Keane was nearly caught out by Vardy a couple of times but Vardy is one of the quickest. Wow I am enjoying Everton again! Options. that is what this manager now has!
