I said last week, we will draw and it will be a case of same team, same style and same no cutting edge. I got slated saying I was doom and gloom (hey coyb).
I will say it again, if we play to defensive midfielders WE ARE STUFFED. It's going to be a long, long season and on this course we are not looking good.

i posted last season about the fact he stubborn let sticks with two DMF and yet we are so poor defensively let's abandon this system that clearly doesn't work for us! Even on MOTD we were criticised for our defensive set up.

Not the best of results good to see kone on score sheet think he score couple this year. People forget he has come back from long term injury and needs time to recover. He scored 13 at wigan hopefully he can get near that number again. Ed is their any transfer news and anyone know what's wrong with bill I heard he has brain tumour. Love or hate him get well bill

Really glad kone scored should help his confidence but made a mess of the header, still its what he's there to do so we shouldn't go overboard!
Still need another striker to make it more competitive!

Well after todays 1st half performance, is this what we have got to look foreward too, Coleman, was all over the pitch, shame the rest didnt, Watford ran us ragged, RM wants 3 players? Who, When, How much and how soon, because its needed to wake certain players up, COYB

when I saw the teamsheet, I expected nothing more than what we saw.Barry, McCarthy and Cleverly all have a certain talent, but none of them cries out "I am a playmaker". too samey, nothing to excite a crowd.can´t understand why Osman was not in the mix.provides a touch of "something different" which we blatantly lack. Let us hope that the incoming players are more than cast-offs looking for a nice pay day in england.
Roberto, wake-up before you are invited to take a long-term Spanish holiday

same blue print as last year but with little width made up for barklay and exspecially kone (good finish) but its not signings that will help us its tactics they have the spark of a 90 year old pass pass pass pass pass hoof zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Just watching Swansea v Chelsea and Swansea play nice possesion football with penetration. Movement off the ball and forward passing. Why oh why we were never in for Ayew and even Gomis looks twice tje player Lukaku is. Talks a good game Roberto but he is out hos depth.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Gomis is not twice the player lukaku is. Be realistic.

Excellent Swansea performance. Their manager gaining recognition all the time.

Martinez. Cannot blame tiredness, cannot blame travelling, cannot blame the weather. He has only got himself to blame.

Wins headers has a better 1st touch knows how to hold a line and get in behind defenders, anticipates balls into the box. Shall I continue pb?? We were well and truly had by Chelsea as if he was even half as good as his ego and agent says he is he would still be at chelsea. Thought Jelavic was back with the amount of times he was offside and the header he put wide!

08 Aug 2015 20:26:24
Second that keenon. Realistically can't see us picking a point up from our next 3 games if he persists on that set up and them tactics.

It was disappointing from Rom today. However he had a massive impact when it mattered getting an assist for our equalising goal.

Gomis may have a better first touch at the minute and I agree Rom is loose at time, but he is young and it will come in my opinion. Lukaku quite simply can't get in behind as often as you would like because we don't play the ball over the top into the space like swansea do. Its not our style and whilst I prefer in behind play as swansea do mainly with Shelvey, it is what Martinez sets us out to do. can't blame Lukaku for that. if you look off the ball he does a lot of running.

Lukaku is a fantastic finisher mainly when the ball is at his feet, and he can run with ball brilliantly. We need to play to his strengths and we quite simply don't.

If we can sign Charlie Austin as highly rumoured, Roberto has to play them both considering there fee's. that's when I expect us to see the best of Lukaku. not when he is constantly 30 yards from the deep lying midfield.

I watched his movement off the ball and he does look to get in behind but the ball never comes early enough. Maybe next time I shall post once my frustration has settled. He needs support and even stevie Wonder can see Rom cannot play the lone striker role he needs to play off somebody. Really do hope we pull out the stops to bring in Austin. He can play with his back to goal and allow Rom more support and to play further forward. More importantly it will mean a change in tactics and hopefully its Barry who I s sacrificed. Anyways the dust has settled we were awful let's see how we do at the saints next week, hopefully with at least 2 new additions.

Pretty bad start to the season, hope mirallas isn't out too long, Kone did well when he came on one assist and a goal, lukaku needs to do a lot more he hardly wins any aerial duels, he can't hold the ball up and looks a bit lazy at times, the game was crying out for Del Boy shame he's injured hope he's back soon! everyone needs to be on it from now on, roll on next week, maybe start with both lukaku and Kone next week looks like they could develop a decent partnership! Anyway it's done now atleast we didn't lose, a point is better than none but things need to improve on and off the pitch!

Absolute garbage produced today against an alehouse team.
If our centre forward put himself abt same as Deeney I'd b more than happy but he doesn't.
We have a soft centred team throughout no urgency whatsoever.
Cant even say same old it was far worse than that.
I predicted Martinez one of the early season casualties & I ain't changed my mind after watching that shower of shite.

Its the manager lads not the players.

First half no balls into the box. second half both our goals and all our chances came from crosses/Balls into the box.

It doesn't mean you have to play stoke esque (well old stoke)

This is the most talented squad of my life time (I wasn't around in the glory days)

Martinez needs to go.

Sorry but all the posters asking for optimism need a wake up call. What I have seen today is abysmal and that's being kind. Our next 3 games will show us for what we are and that is a weak side with nothing at all going forwards. Sorry but the buck stops with the manager he will be gone by September me thinks and he can take hos boring one dimensional tactics with him.

With the run of games we have coming up we could be relegation material before September is even out.

I'm at the game and our lack of summer activity is glaringly obvious. A long hard season is ahead if we don't get new additions. Much more of this and in about 5 weeks time we will be after another manager. Awful. No creativity. Honda Shaqiri anybody pleeeeeease

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Were getting desperate now linked with Shaqiri. he's overweight, lazy and Inter can't wait to get shot. Just watched first half the teams in a mess.

Written off before a game is played, fans fearing the worse and the whole management questioned.
Then they stuffed the Aussie's!
C'mon blues go out today and cheer us up!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

08 Aug 2015 10:49:26
I think we need to start the game strongly and directly, show a bit of intent, and give the fans something to cheer. If we spend the first 5 minutes passing it across the back then (rightly or wrongly) the groans and boos will start. All of us will be at Goodison Park to support the lads, they just need to give us something to get excited about.

3-1 today please I've got to feeling Rom Kev and Tom will be on the scoresheet. I wonder what odds are being offered on that?.

Coyb feels like I've been waiting for this day since last February!

On the BBC sports site a reporter predicting the final placing so far clubs at end of season. In order the top half finish is :-
Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Man U, Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, Stok. Etc
So 7th place is a realistic improvement on last season, but still think a higher position is possible, and don't see why we can't finish above Spurs and Liverpool for starters.
Let's hope they get off to a good start and with no European games every chance they can do it.

I love how positive this place has been in the last couple of days but let's not go overboard. 12m for Austin? They have been waiting for 15m plus from spurs since the beginning of the window so I can't see how we would get 12. The odds are slashed as soon as twitter explodes with people jumping on the rumor. Personally I would rather us spend the 12m on a number 10. Don't get me wrong I would love Austin but he shouldn't be out number one target in my opinion. Unless brown shoes is going to play 2 up front, the no 10 should be what we are looking for. Again just my opinion

Believable1 Unbelievable1

08 Aug 2015 10:16:40
Only the papers have said they want 15, who's to say 12 won't be enough?
Can't see us getting him though! A lot of club would be after him
