If moysey only has a limited tranfer budget in the January window he maybe better off retaining Doris on a longer contract than looking for a creative midfielder and central striker

when asked "do you think you can win the fa cup this year" moysey comes out with, depends on the luck of the draw, and weve got a tough draw in the next round etc. I don't dispute that.Iwould just like him for once to be a bit more positive whats wrong in saying, why not were a good side playing some attractive attacking football and were very hard to beat and not to many teams will fancy playing everton that's for sure.Ed we are all the above mentioned plus we never get turned over easily either.were sitting fifth in the league and if we really want it and believe it more we can be playing champions league football next season.Everyone of us including the players and the manager should have our chests puffed out shoulders back and head held high and have the swagger. We are everton, lets start believing.jimmy {Ed025's Note - im with you jombo..

Anyone read the book Scally? Eye opening. Even if only 1% of it is actually true. Glad I wasn't born then.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

How can you spend time reading this book when EFC could be in crisis over Doris--get in the real world mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Boss book do the CRC still exist?

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you serious? The author of that book (not sure if I can mention his name on here) is an absolute ***. To try and glorify what was one of the darkest periods in English football is disgraceful.
Anyone who went to watch football in that period risked their well being every time they went to an away game whether they were involved in the violence or not, not to mention the way the average fan was treated by the police when they went away.
I remember there being outrage on there pages after the behaviour of so called Everton fans at Elland Road earlier this season and now here we are bigging up this book.
I saw the author of this book in Waterstones doing a book signing when it was first published, sitting there in all his 'casual' clobber with a big pile of books next to him and not a single punter buying his book. An absolute disgrace to our great club and an person to boot!
Moody Blue {Ed025's Note - that was my era as well moody...thank god them days are practically gone, every other saturday was filled with trepidation, travelling to grounds where you expected trouble, dark days my friend..

Agree0 Disagree0

Well they did try to ban the book.you really think those days have gone? don't think so! has racism gone? don't think so. {Ed025's Note - believe me mate...it is far from the 70,s and 80,s...

Agree0 Disagree0

My father said it was bad around 70's/80's, i was born in 87 glad i didnt go matches around the time.it does still go on now like but not as bad.ive seen most of the footage from many teams, i even got caught up in the everton valley scrap with man u, was travelling home from the match with my mate and his dad in their car and out of nowhere was police everywhere and both sets of fans in the middle of the road kicking the living daylights out of each other.i was really scared i just wanted to go home.even with the game against millwall in the cup few years back sitting in the street end and all i heard was persons going on about after the game what their going to do and whats going to happen.
i just can't believe its all over a football match. {Ed025's Note - you had to be around at the time to realise how scary it was mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair there was a lot about that era that was grim, no jobs, terrible government, north south divide, strikes all over the place etc etc. The only thing that kept most people going was the music, the football and fashion. And until 84 even my beloved Blues were pretty grim. I was fortunate, I escaped to warmer climes courtesy of the HM armed forces but still managed to take a fair few games in up and down the country. Even then I still kept my mouth shut when going away games for fear of getting a good kicking off some inbred home fan. That apart, still got some great memories from when the world was our oyster (as Frankie would say)

Not bothered if Fellaini leaves. Everton make stars out of the players they buy, they always have and always will. If he leaves, we will unearth another gem... Maybe 3 for the money we would get. Saying that, I really don't think he's going anywhere soon.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Don't want felli to leave but no player is bigger than the club.if he goes good luck to the lad.
Moysie will unearth another gem.

Jags: Boss, I´ll sign if you are going to be around for the length of my new contract
Moyse. I´ve no plans to go anywhere.
Jags: so if they come knocking on your door from Old Trafford?
Moyse: I´ll cross that bridge if and when it happens. But lets face it, Fergie will be around a good while yet.
Jags: And you´re not going to let Bainsey go?
Moyse: not while I am Everton manager.
Jags: Okay boss, where do I sign?

Believable9 Unbelievable2

08 Jan 2013 20:24:02
Personally I don't think Fellaini will go anywhere this transfer window, perfect opportunity for Europe giving our famous strong second half of the season and he looks chuffed to bits when he scores! Big Vic showing good form so I say all we need is a central midfielder and a striker on loan. What ever happens we all know Moyes doesn't buy rubbish so we can rest in peace on that one! Looking forward to the game Saturday, put the pressure on Spurs!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be surprised if he had even heard of us tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course he would... and then he'd wake up shouting, "Oh, what a terrible dream." Our own nightmare will be if (when) David Moyes eventually leaves. I see no other manager who could have done what he has done with such limited funds. Some fans had better be careful about what they wish for...
C.A.Jones {Ed025's Note - your right..

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see moyes going anywhere but I think big dunc could do the job one day

Dave EFC

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting opinions, it would be a step forward if we could get him but people only say he's good because he had top players, what do you think ed?

ToffeeMike {Ed025's Note - i think even i could manage barcelona mike...we would need someone with a premiership pedigree..the shout before, of martinez, with nev as assistant would look good to me...but i dont think moyes is going anywhere soon..

Agree0 Disagree0

Dunc would have give felli a pay Rise after the stoke game dave ha ha. LIAM!!

Agree0 Disagree0

The Everton job isn't one for an average 'manager' like Guardiola. This job requires serious transfer nouse, a tactical approach that is broad and multi-dimensional and most importantly, patience. It's not a job for a man who couldn't hack being in charge of the greatest team of a generation. A group of players who don't even need a manager. Overrated, 1 style of play, no plan B, will get found out when managing any team that does not have Messi, Xavi & Iniesta. {Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

As I have said for a while, Moyes won't be going anywhere, for the simple reason that no bigger club will want him. He should just get it into his head that we are the best club he can ever hope to manage.

Mike {Ed025's Note - are you davids public relations officer mike ?..

Agree0 Disagree0

I think David Weir will one day make a fine manager.

Agree0 Disagree0

In response to Mike, I agree with you. What he's correct in saying is that Moyes' job is ridiculously wonderful considering his funds, etc. But until Moyesy wins a trophy or two he won't be classed as a top-class manager. In our eyes he is, but football is about trophies, and unfortunately that isn't on his CV. But once he wins us trophies, the world will see one of the best managers to ever set foot in the modern day.

Just thought I'd post about 3 separate topics, first off fellaini, he has said he will play out his contract at Everton so the rumours about him leaving need to stop. Now for targets, I would love us to get Messi and Ronaldo but I THINK we can get forren as he looks a really good player as distins replacement. Now heitinga, he is a liability and people saying 'he's class, he won player of the season last year for us', let's face it, had it not been for Distins error in april, Distin probably would of won it, Heitinga just doesn't have the pace, strength or reliability to play for us and the sooner he leaves us the better, we have a great squad with great quality we just need a few more bodies to keep us going.

Fellaini will stay he said it himself, how i see 2013 for the the blues our next 4 games are crucial they are all very winnable but no guarantees. We will sign a couple of players this month who only Moyes knows but they will be decent enough as we all know how Moyes works, we will be up there fighting for 4th spot till the end of the season and we will clinch it.I can see a very good Fa cup run also maybe win it, you would not write us off would you.I am confident investment will come at some stage in 2013 be it in new owners or just investment on other scales.Moyes and Baines will sign new contracts and new players will be bought in the summer as Moyes will have money to spend it will be great to see our team play on Tuesday and Wed nights in the CL did any of us expect us to be were we are now at the start of the season a win away from going third in the league in January i bet if your honest not a lot did including me.So for me all of the above is very possible and i hope it comes true lets stay positive blues i think we are going to have the season we have all been craving for years this year and many more to come bring on the Swans on sat COYB Stef the blue {Ed025's Note - great post stef...if we cant believe in ourselves mate..who can we believe in?..

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Very true Ed 25, everybody is wary of us this season we have been outstanding and it is not a one off it has been coming over the last few years a Spurs fan said today you will never get Parker on loan this season why would we do that as we see Everton as more dangerous than Arsenal this year i am going to take it week by week but any win from now on in is a win towards Champions league football next year cause i can not see us losing many more this season .Stef the blue {Ed025's Note - i hope your right stef..

No one has anything really concrete yet on the transfer front, but there is something in the water.....and why not.....a club on the verge of a European spot should attract some good players even if it is a loan.....but for me Johnny out and someone fleet of foot in would be good business for the blues....there is not a better team in the country at the moment on the left side of the pitch.....and when Mirallas comes back in, we should be up for the European challenge....need to pick up maximum points because the last few games are very difficult and we want to give ourselves less than a mountain to climb.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

08 Jan 2013 18:07:35
Makes me laugh all these rumours on fellaini going here there and everywhere think about it fellow blues he's just moved away from Liverpool and moved where no not London or Birmingham no yes you've got it Manchester so we might as well face it its who wants him the most united or city gutted but as long as we get at least 30 million I will be devastated and moysey given at least 20 million to spend as schalke are ready to grab our manager and give him plenty to spend come on bill get it sorted fast

An extract from an article in the Daily Star, claiming Everton will play hardball with Fellaini since he has over 3 yrs remaining on his contract, and will demand £30m "Aston Villa and Sunderland also want 6ft 5ins Fellaini, one of the best headers of the ball in Europe, although he is also prone to the odd defensive mistake."........I think you'll agree it is absolute nonsense {Ed025's Note - yes...i agree..

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Apologies for the pointless post but where one earth do they get these stories from ? Do they go to the local asylum and chat with the patients about football then print the one they deem to be the most 'realistic' ? {Ed025's Note - that would be a...YES!...lol

For example youth team players of ours in previous yeas are now doing fairly well for themselves! Look at ruddy an England international hope Akpan moving to a premi premiership team, reading also Lucas jukiewitz looks promising. Hi, not posted in a while, but just thought i would write to put an end to the Fellaini rumours. All of this is just poor lazy journalism. If you think about it logically, Felli has come to everyones attention as advanced midfielder playing off the striker. The club they link him to most strongly is Chelsea. Chelsea have Mata, Oscar, Hazard all playing that role (or wanting to) The next team he keeps being linked with is Real Madrid, again they have Ozil, Kaka, Modric etc. Man Utd have spent heavily this summer on Kagawa to play that position. Now Felli offers something different from those players in his style, but it is that position on the pitch that would be sacraficed to fit him in to any team buying him.
If you drop him back deeper where he has played previously he is a very good defensive midfielder, maybe valued around 20 million, however i think Felli likes the football that is being played through him at Everton and i don't think he would want to drop back deeper and basically do the dirty work of a Mikel for example.
So basically i can't see why any of the teams linked with him would pay 30 odd million for a player playing in a position that they don't need replacing

Svenny {Ed025's Note - wise words svenny..

Pleased to see Moyes put out a strong team last night. We need a good cup run and hopefully a trophy. What I don't understand is why when he made the changes he brings on Naismith and Tommy Hitz, I can understand Magaye Gueye coming on, but surely that would have been a perfect opportunity for Vellios and Barkley. We keep hearing all these great things about what sort of a player Barkley is going to be, well he isn't going to become the next 'Rooney' if he is sat on the bench. Loan deals to the Championship would do them both the world of good.

Roll on the 31/01/2013 when i don't have to read about any rumours of Felli and Baines leaving. Same old same old from the papers every transfer window. Yawn

I'm sure it's been raised with the Eds before, but does anyone else find it a pain that you have to click to view replies for each individual rumour on the rumours page, but the replies on the banter page are simply given after each post so that you can scroll down the entire "conversation". Also, I like to search for the names of favourite posters, which I can do on the banter page, but not on the rumours page with any ease. The regular posters do tend to put their names to their posts and they're always good value and usually funny too IMHO.

Truth is, no one knows what will happen only the player in question and the manager. Moyes will not sell Felli now that the big man has come out and said he wants to finish his contract. He is here till at least the summer. I don't know why everyone frets about what is written in the media. They are all gobsh**es who have nothing better to do. We need to just chill and let Moyesy do his magic as he has done for the past ten years. I have every faith that Moyes and Blue Bill will do what is best for our club. So please all cheer up and leave the work to the proffesionals :-) {Ed025's Note - well said mate..

Ignore it mate, there is now way Bill/Moyes would add that onto a new 5 year 70/80k per week contract, just papers have nothing exciting to print so they try and cause trouble

BK and DM have never stood in the way of players when, after years of loyalty and good play for Everton, they want a chance of CL football - like Arteta - or a chance with a top European club - like Gravesen. Of course they'd have loved to keep them, just like they'd have loved to keep Rooney, but I trust them to do the right thing for the club and deal honestly with the players. Noboby can complain about Fellaini's performances this season - notwithstanding the Stoke sending-off - so it's not like he's throwing a moody.

Chelsea have identified 25-year-old Marouane Fellaini as their preferred replacement for Frank Lampard, 34, and are planning to trigger a £22m buyout clause in the Everton midfielder's contract at the end of the season.

If this is true it would be very dissapointing that we only make 7 Million profit then why have we not put in a bid for Holtby who alos could have the buld around him..?

Look forward to this being proved wrong is there any truth to this ED? {Ed025's Note - chelsea seem to want every midfielder on the planet, i dont know how much his buy out clause is...

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I'm pretty sure it WAS before he signed his 5yr contract and that the club signing him had to be in the CL. Take no notice, this is silly season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ask yourself how would a paper kno this. answer is they wouldnt and why would you put a clause in a contract to make it easier and cheaper for champions leauge teams (they have the most money and are the only ones that can afford his true valuation £35m minimum)to take one of our top players. i don't believe anything the papers write its all lies. {Ed025's Note - im with you mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeahh, plus they're close to signin that Taison fella from Metalist Kharkiv..with him, Mata, Oscar, Hazard, Mikel, Romeu and now David Luiz playing in midfield, the last thing they need is another midfielder...

Oh, and Victor Moses and Marin...that's 9 first-team midfielders. Also, as someone else has pointed out, Moyes has been saying that if anyone wants to buy any of our players then they'd have to come up with 'crazy money'..and £22m for one of the league's most in-form players is no where near 'crazy money'. This is all just a load of bull if ask me.

I've heard from a reliable "sauce" that without some "bread" we'll always be playing "ketchup" with the monied clubs and their sugar "Daddies". Oh for a board that is absolutely "mint(ed)"! Of course, we could try for some players on "HP", but how soon before we're well into the "red". To be fair, we've already got a "Col(e)man", but he doesn't always "curry" favour with our fans. On the other hand, Mirallas is absolute "mustard". We got out of jail IMHO when Wes "Brown" went to Sunderland, although our centre-backs are also prone to the occasional defensive "caper". At least our goalie isn't a Howardy, Howardy, "Custard" - sorry about that one... its getting late :-)
Such a pity that so many players have agents who want to get on the "gravy" train.
Final thought: isn't a certain LS a right little "pest(o)"?

Right Barkley and Vellios didn't play tonight because they would have been 'cup tied'. There is already a deal in place for them both to be loaned out at the end of Jan depending on incoming transfers. They both need games (championship level) . Heistinga is NOT in Amsterd but if a good enough bid comes our way he will be sacrificed considering his 1his 18 months left on his current deal (which is very well paid) and a pay rise on any new deal ( which he does not deserve) . There is no mega money to be spent, just loans unless we sell. I can't say any more as I have said everything

Why have them on the bench then?a total waste of time. moyes had said earlier about giving barkley more game time then goes and brings naismith on!
It we are not careful this lad will get snapped up by someone.Moyes doesnt trust him clearly

Ross Barkley & Vellios should have been given a throw at the dice earlier we were cruising don't think it would have effected us! but hopefully Moyes told the truth about Victor he has been quality this season and has been really useful.
