It's said that all the best teams have a strong spine, ie: gK, ch, cm and cf. So looking forward we could have. Robles, Stones, Barkley and maybe Lukaku? Potentially the spine of the team for the next six to ten years. The futures bright the futures BLUE.

Victor ibarbo would be a great bargain. Supposedly got a release clause lower than 10 mil, quality player

Is it just me, or do you get the feeling that RM is signing players as squad players, or precontracts for next season, in preparation for Europe next season. What I mean is, when Newcastle and Swansea got europa, their league forms went from pretty decent to relegation battles, this mainly being because of a packed schedule. IMO, I reckon Bobby's thinking much more ahead than he wants us to believe. I mean think about it. if the McGeady/Ince talks are true, and we've already got Pienaar/ Kev/ Naisy/ Kennedy/ Oviedo and Del-boy, why else would he want another winger than to get more backup. Even the triple swoop for the Dundee united lads, has me thinking, their all going to start as squad players. So then he obvs doesn't want just quik fixes in the squad. I know i'm pretty much stating the obvious, but its nice to think that investments are finally being made into the club, that focuses on the youth of the squad, and therefore being to increase the size of it. So yeah. lol

Panicked this morning, saw headline 'Arsenal 35Million Bid for Martinez' (realised it meant the Porto one!
This bid is to replace Walcot who will be very much missed as a top goal scorer for Arsenal, er our full backs scored the same number of Prem goals!
How good are we!

Ok as it's transfer window time, who would everyone want everton to buy this month? Being realistic of course on terms of how much he would cost and a player who you could see being keen to join.
I'm going with inngs of burnley, watched him against Southampton and he looks class. Only 21 as well.

I would like to sign
Callum mcmanaman
Tom ince
Bruno Martin indi or john suttouar
The lad from standard got no chance with that name

So next season we would have the wings sorted and the super kev could play as the striker if we don't sign that other fella and probably get a cm in the summer

Agree0 Disagree0

We should break the bank for Lukaku

Agree0 Disagree0

Martins indi i'd definitely have.good solid centre half in the distin mould.
I even get the feeling McGeady will do well for us if he signs.
M'Vila for midfield.
Batshuyi as striker.
maybe not all but at least one or two of them would do me.

Thomas Hitzlsperger has come out and said he is a homosexual. Fair play to him, it mustn't have been easy for him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't intend this post to be having a go at anyone, but who really cares? Does it really matter if anyone is gay or not?

I don't care if someone is gay, straight or bi. What difference does it make?

I don't get why there seems to be constant pressure on footballers to come out. Why should it be anyones business? What difference to anyones life on here has this announcement made?

Agree0 Disagree0

He was just saying that he showed a lot of courage to come out

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was brave and they want people to accept it more in football, they should come out when there playing the game not when they retire.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mike is absolutely right. What does it matter? This is 2014 for God's sake. It's only the gutter press trying to stir this up amongst the bigoted people who a few years ago were throwing bananas on to the pitch at black players. I even remember that from the Street End versus the RS when John Barnes was still playing. Anyway I digress.
Fair play to Thomas as it still takes guts but as Daz says it would have taken more guts to have done so whilst he was still playing.

It's the media, same with the world cup in Qatar and the winter Olympics in Russia

The fans don't care about all the bs politics

just want to say ot was very big of the hammer hitzelsperger to come out and say he is gay, well done lad and this could encourage more footballers to not be so afraid, hats off to him

Mike-Ox Long

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree!

And for once I agree with Joey Barton, shame he felt he had to wait until he retired to come out

Hey ed, what's the likelihood of something happening soon

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its hard to guess a time frame mate..

08 Jan 2014 15:54:07
by god the transfer window is both exciting and boring, just hoping something happens soon to boost the mood even if it was mcgeady or ince

yet you never tell me how you expect me to do these things degsy, you just disagree for the sake of disagreeing, me:i hate moyes, you:youre wrong, me:osman didn't have a good game today, you:he changed the game and was the best player on the pitch, its almost like you don't like me having an opinion which is what I thought football was about

Spanish word of the day:

'enlace' (noun)

Translation:

'A link, bond or connection'

Example:

Sir Roberto Martinez's relationship with everything that is Everton.

Ed just a general question isn't the champs league turning into a 64 team competition for next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - No, Platini has raised the issue with UEFA but no decision will be made until some point in 2014 and then if given the go ahead a start date for the new format would then need to be determined)

08 Jan 2014 03:07:14
So what will everyone be happy with this January window (realistically)?

For me it would be:

Ins:

Tom ince - on a good deal due to contract being run down

Aiden mcgeady- on a pre-contract (I know many people are giving negative comments about this lad but I think he may have something perhaps a little spark?)

3 Dundee lads: I think this could only add some more brilliant youngsters to our crop

Perhaps a CB? To add cover to the ageing distin and replace heitinga

Outs:

Heitinga: Been a good servant but perhaps best for him and the club if he moves on

Summary:

Not a huge amount to be spent but depth to be added and not any players leaving that will be missed that much.

What's you guys opinion?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed039's Note - The 3 Dundee lads play for Dundee United not Dundee)

I agree with that completely. McGeady and Ince get a lot of exaggerated criticism and the Dundee United trio are very exciting, although I don't think we'll get any; we certainly won't get all 3.

Agree0 Disagree0

Must be nervy times being a follower of Dundee Utd. they've got a very talented group of young players and with Rangers where they are there's a potential champs league pot of gold up for grabs. Whilst i'd love to see any one of their exciting players join (especially Ryan Gauld) i'd hope they stay where they are for at least a few more years because with a few experienced additions they could seriously challenge a stale Celtic side for the top spot. Similar to us in a way. Keeping the gems that you already have should always be the primary objective in any window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can we be sure that Ryan Gauld is definitely one of them? I've heard tremendous things about him and think he could be the player for the future.

Isn't the "marriage" (to use Howard Kendall's phrase) of Roberto Martinez to Everton Football Club just like that old saying about what a bride wears at her wedding?
"Something old" - the defensive strength
"Something new" - the attacking flair
"Something borrowed" - the loaned players
"Something blue" - the fans, true blue as always

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Like it Kevin. Great post.
