Breaking news out of Melwood.
New reds boss Brendan Rogers has officially completed his first ever signing. The proud unveiling of the Venky's chicken is set to take place in front of a fully packed Anfield some time within the next couple of days.
Rogers had this to say about his new man.
"He adds great power and pace to our attack and has proven skill to get round any opposing player and goalkeeper. Let's hope he can bulge the back of the net like some of our fringe players (names mentioned in the interview included Caroll, Henderson, Downing and Adam) cannot."
Rogers interest came after the Wigan-Blackburn match where said chicken gracefully and elegantly skipped round Yakubu and Al Habsi only to run into the net.
More on this to come..

What's happening with Naismith ed025 or ed024, i remember one of you explaining to me that the scottish ed's who you trust with information told you that it was a "done" deal?
Is it still happening or has something stopped it now? It's been 2 weeks or so since you revealed it was a "done" deal.
Thanks

Evening gents,
Just been reading over the posts on this site and thought i'd share my two cents on the transfer situations.
This time of year is always a bit of a frightener for Evertonians. Best players being linked with other teams, the usual cock and bull story from the RS about buying the next big thing when realistically he goes to United and they end up with another Henderson and all the other usual rubbish surrounding us.
Being as realistic as I can I don't see us losing Baines or Fellaini to the so called "bigger" clubs. Fellaini is only just starting to learn his trade in the EPL and the risk of taking a 24 year old and playing him in a team of "superstars" rings a bell for the old Pienaar fiasco. As for Baines well what's to be said? The lads a blue at heart, loves the club to bits so don't see him going at all.
Regarding players in; Pienaar is a must. Gave us the pace down the wing that were sorely lacked in the first half of the season and basically looked like he never left. Obviously we nee a back up striker and a decent RM and RB. Naismith, Donovan and a cheeky gamble on a Danny Simpson kinda player couldn't hurt us really while we look to mature players like Gueye, Vellios, Barkley, Rodwell etc.

All in all, get the season starting off well and we can't go far wrong. Gibson was one hell of a signing for that holding CM role and Jelavic well, the goal tally speaks for itself. With a bit of luck and about £5-10m invested I see us pushing for the European places.

Here's hoping to a fruitful season where we once again mock the RS for doing awful business on buying flops.

Wish we had a bit of money we have everything in place at the club, tradition, history, fans, a few top players, some of the best young players coming through, a class manager were just 2-3 first team players from becoming a consistent top4 side! I'm not talking billionaire money just 15-20 mill a season being available for Moyes.
Imagine we had money in the last couple of years this could well be our team today.

Howard

Walker Jagileka Lescott Baines

Donovan Fellaini Arteta Pienaar

Jelavic Yakubu(if he would of stayed fit and not pissed Moyes off he was well capable of 20 a season as proved in his first season when he scored 23)

With experienced players like Cahill, Hibbert, Osman, Neville, Gibson and youngsters like Barkley, Rodwell, Coleman and Gueye

It does annoy me that some clubs recently get taken over or have a chairman that has a bit of money every summer to give to his manager, look even this season players like Dempsey, Pienaar, Sigurdurson and this lad Naismith that we have apparently tried to get all these players would all together cost less than 15 but we have no chance unless we sell one of out top players. Really annoys me, we are and have been so close to the top of the table for the past 5 years but just can't break it due to finaces. Really sad.

Naismith and Pienaar apparently will only cost 6 million it's ridiculous that a club of our size can't generate that money to get these two lads! Come on Bill sort it out!

God its so depressing to think that there are players out there like rodriguez, holtby, pienaar, dempsey etc available for between 4 to 7 mil and are still out of our budget. Its a bloody disgrace.

Believable12 Unbelievable1

All us everton fans want money for players to make us great, kenwright says hes everton through and through he owns the club so why not invest some of his own millions into this club say £10 Mill then by selling players like mucha, yobo, vic, silva, and maybe cahill should give him thi money back

Here's an idea, a bit of a crazy one.... Let's not sell either Rodwell or Victor. In fact let's keep the same team that finished the season so that we can get a great start with no distractions

I think Rodwell is a great player who just needs to have a run without injury, and as for Victor ok he's not the most talented player we have for sure but his goals as sub last season were vital for us. I say keep him on the bench as an impact striker.

If they both do well next season then we will be left with the dilemma and a good dilemma at that.

I would like to see some new faces also but if we only have enough for Peanuts then so be it. I will be very confident about next season with just that one addition.

So let's try not to sell our young players too quickly then who knows what a little completion for places can achieve.

Lewis Holtby Bio
Age - 21
Club Apperances - 112(in 5 years)

Value - 5-7m
Club he supports - Everton

Rodwell out Holtby in would that really be a bad thing? Make your own mind up.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Jack has been with us since he was 8 years old.
That is a unbelievably snidey way to get people on your side by saying "club he supports - Liverpool"
Jack is "our" future captain and of course he will undoubtedly be Captain of his Country.
Colin the Chef.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've even got this wrong 'Born in Southport, Merseyside and an avid Everton supporter as a child.'

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen i like Rodwell and im not trying to get people on my side, but with all his injury problems would it really be that bad to sell him and get another young player in who has bags of talent, and personally i think is better than Rodwell, and he has expressed his desire to join the club it would also give us an extra couple of million to either secure Pienaar or somebody else if we already have enough for Pienaar.
And as for our future captain he's got no chance he doesn't have a big enough presence on the pitch and i dont think he's the type of player to motivate the team and lift their spirits when were trailing in a game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Total bollox saying he supports Liverpool, Ive met the lad and can confirm he loves us Blues

Degsybaldy

Agree0 Disagree0

Wow taking quotes off Wikipedia how smart, i could go on his Wikipedia write anything i want, he is not an Evertonian, yes he will probably be fond of the team as hes played for them for the majority of his life, but he supprts Liverpool, not that it makes any difference who you support, i didnt put it as a bad thing, but anyone who would rather have Rodwell over Holtby is from Mars, give me one thing Rodwell gives you when hes in the team ?

Agree0 Disagree0

May have a Koppite alert here somewhere guys

Agree0 Disagree0

My quote is from the horses mouth mate, he supports everton

Degsybaldy

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you kiddin? What a crap way too get people to agree with you by saying he is a Liverpool fan haha! He is a blue there's pictures of him as a baby wearing an Everton jersey and he has been with Everton since he was 7 years old. He is one of us! He is 21 ffs give him a chance, needs a run of games without getting injured and watch him flourish. Future England regular this kid. {Ed025's Note - his wikipeda says avid blues fan since a kid..

Agree0 Disagree0

He gives us mobility, athleticism and a big physical presence in midfield, and is starting to show signs his tackling is improving. On top of that he has got goals in him. If he steers clear of injuries he is a very useful player.

Agree0 Disagree0

You want me tell you what he brings to us? Ok then, feel free to disagree but at his best when he was getting a run of games this season without picking up any injurys he gives us youth, athletism, power, control, composure, balance, he has shown signs of improving his tackling and he can get forward and score, also he is very good in the air (in both boxes).
The only thing i think he needs to improve on is being more direct with his passing and tacking the game to the opposition more instead of being a tad safe at times, but what people are forgetting that Jack was involved in the side a lot from August to December when the whole team was safe and lacking confidence or any movement in attacking area's so he was bound to struggle, i believe if he was fit in the 2nd half of the season when the team was playing some cracking free flowing attacking football you would of saw the best of him, watch him flourish next season and you and others who have slated him on this page will be moaning because teams will be after him! The lad has it all there he just needs to stay injury free and build some confidence up.
Rodwell, Barkley and Fellaini are the future of our midfield
