Just decided to watch the game I was away over the weekend so didn't see it and posted on here saying I wasn't surprised at the result and wasn't going to watch it but I've just bit the bullet and had a look and my god how bad did we play never expected it to be so bad we was miles off the pace and most of the players didn't look interested CA has got his work cut out and I believe it was his first 4_0 defeat well Everton do have a good record at setting new ones.

It was boys v men, skylark, shocking performance individually and collectively. It will be interesting to see who Carlo wants to ship out in the summer, some players shot themselves in the foot with such a poor performance. It equalled CA's record mate, one other time he has lost by the same score line.

I expect I will come in for some grief for this but here goes . I have admired DCL since he came to the club . I'm old enough to remember Graeme Sharp as a youngster and he reminds me very much of Sharpie . Nowhere as good in the air but effort and physicality yes . Sharp like DCL wasn't a natural finisher either and this is my point . In the short term DCL's recent goals have helped us no end, but longterm I'm not sure . It will probably end our search for Lukaku's replacement which is bewildering after several seasons we still haven't replaced him . I hope I'm wrong but I fear his recent goals might come back and bite us next season if he struggles.

I agree, I think he will be a great player for the squad over the years and will do a job for us, but he will never reach Lukakus level.

I agree to certain point but are problems are not top end of the pitch and should not be are concerns for the summer window central midfield is crucial as well as defence but it comes back to same issue we need to sell and get payers out the door which is difficult Sigurdsson and Walcott are on 250k a week who is going come in for them.

Cartainly we need players all over the park. Midfield is crying out for pace and someone who can pile in with 10 to 15 goals a season.
Regardless of what sticking plaster Rikki and DCL have saved us this season but any club with the sort of designs we have must have a 25 goal a season no9. Rikki goes LW and DCL is the 2nd striker.

Gomes is our best player in the middle but people on here are bang on, he's very very slow. He will get away with it because of his technical level but so long as he is next to a speedy CM, he will be fine. Will be funny to see him become the new Sigs in seasons to come. As in the line of fans fury.

Jk surely deserves to come home from his success in Germany and we can wave goodbye to Sidibe, who I really wanted to like but he's not dependable in this league. The guy won the world Cup for crying out loud!

We need a RW (regardless of how many wingers we have on the books) and we really need a decent keeper. If Pickford had someone who is capable of playing at prem level, he wouldn't be as complacent as he is currently. I rate him highly and think he's a brilliant keeper but not having any competition is a disaster. If he could be dropped for a game or 2, the guy would certainly be more up for it.

The shoppin list is too long for a quick fix. And with FFP etc and the juxtaposed comments from Carlo claiming he has been promised a busy summer, something somewhere has to give. It'd be a disaster to lose Carlo because he feels he was sold a turd.

It's going to be a tricky 18 months.
The more this season has gone on the more angry I am at Silva and just how much of a catastrophe the 1st 3rd of the season was. Those opening 10 games really should have had us in the top 4. Should have been banking 24 points atleast.

Anyway, easy game next :/.

Sometimes he reminds me of Graham Sharp other times Pat Sharp.

Chelsea had to play an 18 year old due to injuries. The kid came in and took his chance with two big performances.
We have good young players waiting for their chance, while we have senior players doing nothing.
Play Gordon, don't just leave him sitting on the bench every week. Play a couple of the u23s, show them if they are good enough they will get a chance.
Now is their time.

Totally agree Brassington - why we persist in playing Sigurdsson is one of life’s mysteries. To captain him also is ridiculous - offers nothing.

Must be quite disheartening for these youngsters to see the same drivel given a chance ahead of them. Gordon in particular should be starting.

Unfortunately nothing to play for now so here’s hoping maybe we’ll see the youngsters given a chance - not holding out much hope though as Carlo seems to doing the same as previous managers in persevering with players who are currently offering nothing.

Gingerdan I think that's the first time I have seen someone have a dig at Carlos I mean he's had 10 games and he hasn't won us the league yet so maybe we should part ways 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ my view is the fact we still had a chance at Europe is down to him and big Dunc yesterday he will of learnt a lot about certain players sidebe has gone so far of the pace it's unreal and will be sent back to Monaco sigs schniderlin Walcott Davies (which I will be sorry about as I love homegrown players) dowell niasse Martina maybe Pickford will or should all be looking for new clubs as Carlos wants us at the top and he will not be happy with what he seen yesterday.

Brank not sure you could call what I posted a dig at Carlo.

I’m made up we’ve got him and can see good things ahead - however I don’t know why he continues to pick Sigurdsson, if anyone does then please let me know. Is there a clause in his contract that he has to play? Hence being continually picked when he has been atrocious for weeks.

The team Carlo inherited is a right mess and for him and dunc to have got the points they have with these players has been brilliant.

However I still don’t get the Sigurdsson selection.

Not sure Gingerdan was complaining about the manager, merely pointing out the flaws in constantly picking players who are clearly out of form.
Maybe Carlo was hoping that by giving him the captaincy would get him up and running. Sadly it doesn't look to have worked. Now that's not a dig at the manager, just a simple observation.

I am sure Ancelotti knows what he has got, he can't come out and publicly criticise his players ( that's our Job ) he has to get the best out of them, that's his job, just need to get 100% safe and then rebuild for next season.

A man of his experience and achievements already knows the weaknesses (extensive) but also knows little he can do, except try to get the best out of his inherited Squad. 37 points should see us safe (who would have thought) . That said surely nothing to lose by blooding some youngsters.

Surely we have youngsters with legs and pace in the midfielder positions if we don’t then we are in a sorry state, Davis, Siggurdsson are far too slow to even put in a challenge, Walcott lacks heart and courage to make an impact.

That's been his remit since he joined, Uran, just get to the end of the season with the squad he inherited and then, hopefully, he can work his magic in the summer!
It's only the job of the fans to criticise the players when they don't put a shift in if we also don't mind praising them when they do.

Whatever you think of today's performance, it is going to take at least another 18 Months, before we get get quite a few off our books.

No team is going to take them on the wages they are on now, they will simply loan them.

We are not going to get any transfer fees for half those in the squad and the rest out on loan.

I am afraid it is a case of waiting for their contracts to expire before we can move forward to where we would like to be.

Everton panicked in offering Holgate and Calvert Lewin unbelievable hike in contracts.

We could have done this in the summer with doubling their wages, then and only then offer more on performances over the next few seasons, but the amount both got for half a seasons performance is crazy.

No wonder we are in the mess we are now.

I don't know the full details of the new contracts for DCL and Holgate but can imagine the increase in wages will be more than covered by any increase in potential transfer fee now they are on long term contracts.
I don't see either of them turning out to be another Siggy, Sandro, Scheiderlin, Niasse, Tosun, Walcot Keane etc that previous management have saddled us with
We should be pleased with them signing new contracts rather than them leaving in the next window or so at a fraction of their value.

Also Calvert lewin and Holgates value has rocketed in last couple of months giving them 5 years is no problem with me as they both have sell on value.
