How about this for a likely team for the opening day match at Spuds....

Howard; Hibbert, Jags, Distin, Baines; Osman, Cahill, Neville, Arteta, Heintinga; Beckford.

Have you noticed anything about this team (LOL)?

NB: No Saha or Fellaini as no doubt they'll be injured, no doubt.

how can stoke n sunderland spend big and we cant even stump up a deposit for nzogbia i hate to say this but sell rodwell and arteta and billy. {Ed024's Note - That's one way of raising cash but no matter how good one player can't replace three players!

What would fellow blues be happy with next season? I think with n'zogbia and maybe long signing we could get 6th and maybe a good cup run

Moyes would only sell baines if he received a crazy bid from city. Baines has given no indication that he wants to leave {Ed024's Note - Correct but we all know that money talks and Man sitteh can offer crazy bids, would you take £25m and re-invest in the team??

**************************************

That's one hell of a question, Ed Personally, Bainsey, along with Jags, are the 2 players I would least like to see leave. But you asked the question, so here's my view. Milner, Richards, Bridge & Bellamy PLUS £5m to put towards signing Defoe. OK, Mancini....Take it or leave it

Man city on verge of gettin nasri an clichy accordin to sky sports. Obviously Baines not for sale. Any news on yobo deal for Nzogbia down payment rumour ed? {Ed024's Note - No, though you seem more confident than me that Baines wont be sold!!!!

its time..for a reality check guys, we have not got any dosh, even loans for big players..is out at the moment...we cannot afford their wages.....the solution(in my opinion), is with the money generated by the sale of yuk..and yobbo...buy shane long. he is the best player out there, in our price bracket....its time to consolidate and make do with what we have got, until (hopefully), we get some investment. i know this is not what we want to hear...but unfortunately....its the truth....yours..

Everyone else is putting teams up so here's mine
Howard
Neville Jagielka Distin Baines

Wright-Philips Feliani Arteta N'zogbia

Cahill
Long

Subs
Mucha
Hibbert
Heitinga
Osman
Gueye
Saha
Beckford

I think its likely that we will sell rodwell and personally i hope we sell bilyaletdinov he cant cut it in the english league.

With the sale of rodwell, yakubu, yobo, vaughan and bilyaletdinov we should have enough to buy the player's i have put into the team Cant see it happening though

Heard a few rumours arond the city that man city want baines and are willing to pay cash plus a player..... how true do you think this is ed ? {Ed011's Note - This has been talked about for a while, as far as i am concerned moyes does not want to sell baines, bainsey is happy with where he is, but knowing man city they might come up with a deal that is too good to refuse

It seems it is all about Baines today, I have just heard Richards & Bellamy plus £10 Million. Also it will be agreed that City will pay the remainder of Richards & Bellamy s contracts as they are both on silly money.
Like Richards, not bothered about Bellamy, but honestly, I would prefer to keep Baines.

No sight of a sale or investment Luvvy Bill looks set to keep a hold of his train set it would appear

DJ Campbell has a 1.25m release clause.

I know what people may think of him and I must admit I was someone who didn't rate him.

But he has just bagged 13 goals for a team that got relegated last season. With some decent service from a decent side - he could repeat that again if not more

Any thoughts?

It really annoys me when people can't spell our own players name, I don't know why it frustrates me so much haha
"Heitienger" jeeeezus....

why does everyone think we wuldnt get at lest 20m for rodwell. hendserson went for 20m????? and also why are people so eager for us to part with rodwell/bains/felli/arteta? those are our best players, so what if they struggled last season, they are still class. we all know rodwell will come good, arteta will regain his form.
we should keep the basis of the squad with all the main players staying, the only players leaving should be,
yobo,
yak,
billy,
anichebe.
that could net us 15m and use that to get a striker (chelsea have said they want at lest 20m for sturridge). i also dont think we need a winger we have coleman on the right, arteta on the left and choose from felli, cahill, rodwell and osman in the middle, we need a striker and maybe a lst back as cover, i certainly dont want
bellamy
swp
bridge
adebayor
these are overpriced, overpaid and are well past there best, we dont need to be a selling club and we dont need anybodys rejects.

note- to roberto mancini....how very dare you...you expect to take the best left back in europe...and as payment...expect us to take over-rated, overpaid, prima-donnas, if you are serious about wanting baines....then ask your sugar daddy...to stump up £35m at least. we can then give this money to david moyes (who is twice the manager you will ever be), so he can spend it on players we really want, and not the dross, that you are trying to unload, to lower your inflated wage bill....ps in future dont be so condescending...we are a bigger club than you..with far more history and class.....yours..

I don't understand why some of our supporters complain about our lack of funds for transfers. The problem we face is our huge wage bill, relative to the size of the club.

Arteta earns over 80k a week and other players such as Yakubu, Fellaini, Baines etc are on big wages too. The revenue coming in is quickly eaten up by the large wages we've had to pay out to keep some of our best players at the club.

I think Moyes should sell Rodwell if he can get 20m+ for him as it could be used to fund the purchase of 2-3 good players who could stengthen the team overall.

I'd consider selling Arteta due to his high wages "but" I think Moyes made a mistake playing him in central midfield last season. Due to Fellaini's surging runs forward, Arteta was often forced stay back to keep the teams shape, which isn't exactly making the most of his attacking talents. He should put Arteta back on the wing, which is where he's always played his best. Drop Coleman to right back but let him make overlapping runs forward to support Arteta and I think the team will have more drive going forward. Hibbert tries overlapping but he's awful on the ball and his passing leaves alot to be desired. He's a great tackler, despite lacking pace, but often gives away possession when trying to support the winger.

I'd sell Rodwell for 20m.
Yobo for 4m.
Yakubu for 4m.
Heitinga for 6m.

Then I'd buy;

Sturridge for 16m
N'Zobia for 11m
Barton 5-7m

Then play a 4-4-2.

Beckford and Sturridge upfront.

N'zogbia - Barton - Fellaini - Arteta

Baines - Distin - Jags - Coleman

Howard.

I think that team could get us in the top 6 and have an outside chance of making the top 4 if we got off to a good start.
