I think we can challenge for top 4 this season. Arsenal United are a mess. Chelsea are going back over. there's only man city I say we can't catch.

No chance but enjoy your dream and have a good summer.

Why so gloomy dark clouds?

18 Jun 2019 08:36:17
I think top 4s a push but in an around the top 6 isn't completely out ov reach with the teams u have mentioned not looking great but we won't be the only team thinking that, wolves and Leicester will both fancy there chances too.

18 Jun 2019 08:51:30
Only Man City? Aside from the 3 already mentioned how about Spurs and 'them over there'?

With good recruitment and pre season hopefully we can make a move on top 6. maybe.

I can see why Dark Clouds is bot so optimistic re a Top 4 finish it is a stretch at best. Our defence isn't quite there yet Keene and Mina the only recognised 1st team CBs one injury and we are scuppered. RB is also a weak area with Coleman by himself at the moment, since we have sent Kenny on loan. It looks like Brands and Silva will have to sort out the defence for the second season on the bounce. The team starting the season may find it difficult to start at the levels we finished defensively.

Improve on last season. That should be a realistic goal. I would though expect to push the current top six and look forward to playing them home or away, which is not something I have always done.

The back end of last season was so positive the way we put those teams to bed. So the one thing I want next season is to continue that fearless approach and start doing it to our direct competition like Wolves, Watford and Leicester.

If we do not get Zouma (and according to ed02 we havn't even approcahed Chelsea for him) I think we are screwed tbh. Just remeber how bad the defence was at the start and mid points of the season. Mina hopefully will step up but he seems pretty injury prone. The defence is a worry to me, more of a worry than a striker. If the defence is as it was at the start and mid points of the season we will struggle for top half never mind top 4.

Hopefully it is all under control. If we havn't even made an aproch to Chelsea MS and MB must have a plan, I just want to know what it is to settle my nervs lol.

its this type of optimism that ruins managers careers everytime, yes it would be great, but just let the season take its course, don't rule out united still having a good summer or even arsenal for that matter, what if frank comes in and does a one in a million job?

I think this season probably our best chance in a long time to challenge top 6 and maybe 4.
Man City and Liverpool too strong can’t see us getting near them. As for the rest:
Chelsea - new manager, possible transfer ban
Arsenal - not yet settled as a team, rumours of a small transfer budget
Man Utd - appear in disarray, recruitment issues as well as the pogba issue. See them needing several seasons to rebuild
Spurs - how will they react to champions league final loss, rely too heavily on Kane, will they recruit anyone this summer? Eriksen potential leaving
Wolves - relatively small squad how will they cope with Europe?

Us - hopefully more settled team this season and with a few additions who knows?

I agree Ginger, we finished the season well, got the zonal marking sorted, big if and buts for me, if we keep hold of Gaye and sign Gomes, somehow manage to land Zouma or even another 12 month loan of the player and bring in a striker who can find the back of the net then I agree we can challenge.

Last season before the Anfield Derby we threw god knows how many points away with missed chances and zonal errors.

Towards the end of last season and against the top six sides, only City got the better of us, so yes why should we not be looking to challenge at least the teams from third downwards.

All depends who we sign and who we keep hold of, but certainly possible challenging the top six.

Agree with Gingerdan I think Man City, Liverpool and Spurs will probably make up the top 3
4th 5th and 6th will be a scrap between Utd Chelsea Arsenal Us wolves and Leicester in our own mini league
A lot will depend on the summer recruitment for most of those teams and us.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that ST..

I would be thrilled if we got in the top six and at least compete for the top six that will be a good season, let's see how tranfare window goes at Everton and other clubs around us.
