Bloody hell! Doom and gloom already!
Draw away at Palace when playing with 10 men is a fine first result. If we'd nicked a 1-0 all the doom and gloom moaners would be saying we"d win the premier league!
1 game, ok result - most of our new signings not really played. Mina and Kran were solid! Support rather than criticise!
FFS give Silva till at least end of September before you doom mongers/ dark cloud criticise
SUPPORT! COYB!

Agree1 Disagree0

Not at all. A Team tipped to be top 7 or 6, playing a Team that habitually finish bottom third, struggled.

My point was it’s one game. Plus we were away and finished with 10 men! PLUS r new buys didn’t really play!
U have proved my point - doom mongers can’t wait to have a go!

With 10 men I thought we played ok, Watford next Sat at home is a game we need to win, some good players out there today Milna played well as did Seamus and also Moise when he came on, Sigi not so good and deserved to be subbed but hey early dys.

Both points are correct. It’s the first game and we haven’t lost. It’s also a game we would expect to win if we have aspirations of breaking the top 6. It’s the first game of a very long competition. It’s way too early for being overly negative or even too positive. Let’s just look to see how the new players settle in and take it from there.

Expected a draw and we got a draw, carrying on from pre season defended well cannot score goals, why is DLC still at the club, a waste of space sadly as he is a good lad.
I think a point away from home first game of the season is ok but my expecations for this team are very low as you all know.

{Ed025's Note - not great DC but we were the better side, DCL has a lot to his game but sadly the most important part (scoring goals) is lacking, and although his time will come at present he is not good enough, our biggest failing though is actually not creating the chances, siggy was still on holiday today and bernard looked lost, today was not terrible but we have to get the new guys in as quickly as possible if we are to beat teams and frighten opponents, but we move on to watford at home and they will be looking for a reaction to a very poor defeat at home, but we can and should win this one..

My sentiments exactly Ed mate.

For once I agree with you dc, I said it all last season, how many games do we have to keep starting with Lewin in attack.

Cannot fault his holdup play, but as a striker, he needs to find the back of the net.

If Tosun played as many games as Lewin, I have no doubt he would of at least got into double figures.

We need to be ruthless, drop the guy, use him from the bench if needed, but we cannot keep starting Lewin every game.

Other than that, I am sure the players we have signed will slot in and come good.

Home game I would start with Kean and either of Iowbi or Tosun.

Anyone who reads my posts know I’m not a doom merchant but if we keep starting with the same personnel, we will be playing catch up sooner, rather than later.

I really hope our forward line has a change or two for our next game.

I and many others echo the same feelings for DCL. I like the guy and know his strengths but his finishing ability is one of his big weaknesses and is mediocre at the best of times. I also think that if we started with Cenk Tosun more regularly that we would get more goals.

It's early days yet but it just feels like the same old story, lack of goals. At least we got a point although I think it's about time we replaced Schneiderlin now. He's had more than enough chances and put in sub par performances.
