From what I have seen at the back end of last season and so far this season Digne and Bernard seem to be building a great understanding of each other’s game similar to what we had down the left side with Baines and Pienaar.

Agree4 Disagree0

Without bashing Coleman -
Sidibi and Iwobi could potentially be the same on the right side.

I think Sidibi will be great for us and I think he’ll get Coleman’s place in team.

Only problem with all of this is that if defence stays tight - we could end up losing Mina as Barcelona have buy back clause until end of this season.

Great start to season - let’s beat Villa COYB.

I think the option to buy on Sidibe is a masterstroke. It secures a perm if we need it but also is a gentle nudge to Coleman that he needs to be better than last season as there is perhaps long term competition for his place by a WC winner.

19 Aug 2019 20:09:42
I might have to have a word with Brands because I need to secure my perm too. 🤣

Love your typos.

Sobs, surely if we decide to sell or are you indicating FIFA/ EUFA will condone breaking contract.

19 Aug 2019 22:00:19
Well I hope he stays Sobs. Some wrote him off last season even though he was injured most of it.
Marco is the one knitting it together and training these players to be solid at the back.

Mina looks like another good signing by Marco and Marcel, let's hope the ones who come in this time are as good.

I wasn’t aware of a buy back in Minas contract. It wouldn’t surprise me though as it was Barcelona we bought him off and they love a buy back them.

Smit, I’ll have to do a hundred lines

“I must lern to speel butter” 😂😂.

I don't believe that Barcelona have a buy back clause on Mina, do any of the ed's know the situation?

{Ed025's Note - they do actually mike, but they will have to pay 52m euro mate..

19 Aug 2019 23:43:56
Thanks Ed. It won't happen, he will be ours for a few more years.

{Ed025's Note - i think so too mike..

Can one of the Eds tell me how Mina's buy back clause works if he doesn't want to go back to Barcelona?

Can he forced to go back
If he doesn't want to go back can he be sold to another team at a lower fee even if Barcelona activate their option?
I take it that this can only happen during the transfer windows

With Gomes I know we didn't have any option to buy but we had an enormous bargaining chip with the relationship between Gomes and the fans

I don't believe we are there yet in the relationship with Mina. Maybe something for us to work on?

{Ed002's Note - You cannot force a player to sign for a club.}

20 Aug 2019 09:24:56
Thanks ED

So he wouldn't have been required to be party to the buy back clause?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it would be in his contract.}

20 Aug 2019 11:32:34
Sorry to be stupid but if Barcelona exercised their option and agreed to pay the buy back fee would Mina have already agreed terms for him to go be part of the buy back or would they re-negotiate his terms upon exercising the buy back clause and it would be up to him to agree terms then or decide to stay at Everton?

{Ed002's Note - No, you cannot force a player to move if he does not wish to. You seem to be over complicating this. It is really very simple:

(a) Barcelona sold Yerri Mina to Everton in the summer of 2018. Included in the contract was an option to buy the player back for a fixed transfer fee of €60M in any transfer window between the summer of 2020 and the January transfer window of 2023 (after which his contract expires). If Everton were to extend his contract, that clause remains active for one more window (the summer of 2023).
(b) Should Barcelona decide during one of those transfer windows that they would like to avail themselves of the option to buy him back, then Barcelona need to inform Everton (who are themselves obliged to inform the player).
(c) Should the player decide that he would like to return to Barcelona then he would tell Everton of his desire to leave and would request Felipe Russo to negotiate the personal deal for Mina with Barcelona and his own fee. If that is all agreed, then he can return.
(d) Should the player were decide his future is not with Barcelona and he wants to stay at Everton or move elsewhere, then he is free to reject any overtures from Barcelona and carry on at Everton or opt to move to another side.

In reality, the rules make it very, very unlikely that Mina will ever return to Barcelona.}

Thanks ED

Just one final piece of clarification. Is the fee 60 million euro you stated or is it the 52 million euro in Ed025's post above

Thanks again.

{Ed002's Note - The fee is €60M - I assume the €8M difference is Ed025's cut. You will have to ask him.}

20 Aug 2019 13:29:37
Or its to go with the Arteta money.

20 Aug 2019 20:02:57
Ed025’s cut. Love it Ed002 🤣🤣.
