I won't hide the fact that i don't want Silva but can i just ask anyone who wants him to stay just what it is that you see in him is it his tactics is it his team selection is it his substitutions you like or the way he can get his players worked up and rise to the occasion and get the crowd going because if it's any of them I've not seen anything from him so i ask again just what is it?

Agree1 Disagree0

I like the fact that he goes out every game to win it. Something Everton haven't done for many a year.
Yes we will lose games because of it but I like the way we play football.
We played Villa off the park.
We also playerd every other team off the park when we have gone down to 10 men. Wolves, Palace, Bournemouth we have been the better side when down to 10.
I like the fact that he has got us compact and solid defensively.
Won't just throw players in to aid the attack when he knows it will be a detriment to our defense. That shows he is tactically very good.
Not many other teams when on song can defend like us.
Yes he needs to tweak the attack, but trust me, when he gets it right (like the back end of last season) we will be a top side.

And I know all the doom and bloomers are waiting for it to fall apart but defensively he is sound and Moshiri and Brands are in it for the long run so I think you ma6 be waiting a while.

Hi Skylark

In a different post you talked about 10 games as being a better guide to a teams performance
If we take the last 7 games of last season and the 3 games this season we won 5 drew 3 and lost 2 giving us 18 points
Multiply that by 3.8 to get a season total and we get 68.4 points which is 14 points better than last season and 19 better than season before
It would have given us 6th place in both those seasons
We have beaten Chelsea (just outside the 10 games) Arsenal and Man Utd. We got deserved draws against Liverpool and Tottenham
Our defence has improved enormously - Kean, Zouma and Mina have all come out and said how much Silva has improved their games
The new signings from 18/ 19 have been a success
The new signings from the last window still have to be integrated into the side
Our start to this season hasn't been the best but I really don't understand the supposed supporters that seem to take great joy in being able to slag the team off as soon as there is a blip. Even with those 3 games over the last 10 games we show a vast improvement

Yes Silva has to get the attack to score more but he will do it once he has fully integrated Kean and Iwobi
The midfield will improve with Gbamin and Delph
Yes Gomes had a bad game at AV, the whole team did and they need to turn it around very quickly but tell me one player who hasn't had a bad game. Tell me one team who hasn't had a bad day. I agree the best teams keep those days to a minimum and we need to improve that aspect but look at our last 8 games of last season W 5 D 2 L 1 6 clean sheets

They are my reasons. what's yours.

It just shows how low some fans have gone if you think a draw against Liverpool is a good result . i give up.

25 Aug 2019 09:25:24
Our record under Moyes and those after him was pretty good against the teams below us. Silva has shown that we can also compete with the teams above us.

It means that as a supporter there are no weekends where I would rather not bother because we are playing a team I know will beat us. that's something I have not really had since the 80s.

Question to you Skylark. You have mentioned what you don't see, so what do you see that you like from Silva's coaching?

25 Aug 2019 10:14:01
He doesn't give me any optimization the football is terrible and predictable there is no fight from the players the midfield is slow and team selection terrible I'm sorry can't see anything i know some on here will call me a doom merchant like DC but it's just the way i see it . said i was going off line till Xmas a while back but stayed on after the villa game but think i will go away for a bit now to the joy of some hopefully things have improved by then.

25 Aug 2019 10:26:16
Really Skylark

Is that your considered response to what are your reasons for disliking Silva?

A draw against Liverpool, The runners up in the league with the 3rd best points total in a season and which we could and should have won wasn't a good result

Is that the best you've got?

Maybe you are right and you should give up.

25 Aug 2019 10:42:48
Wel if your glad with a draw against Liverpool then maybe it's time you gave up . that's it I'm off i will leave my options for match day at the ground.

25 Aug 2019 10:50:27
People says he goes out to win, this is wrong. He goes out to attack there is a big difference. Trying to win is about having tactics to stop the opposition.
The odd good result means nothing, if that is all some fans want then stay away, Evertonians should be winners, wanting to win all the time. I know this is not possible but we should allways try to win and aimless pretty predictable football is rubbish no different to Martinez.
It seems some supporters are not aware of are great history, well I am.

25 Aug 2019 11:11:02
I don't think its loyalty to Silva, its more if we change manager again, its set us back another 4 transfer windows while we chop and change all the players again. we need some stability and changing again after 1 defeat is ridiculous. the problems at Everton are well deeper than the manager, player recruitment is so poor, the delays at the end of the window mean all our new signings appartently aren't fit to play, the recruitment structure and process needs to change before the manager does.

25 Aug 2019 11:20:46
Tactics to stop the opposition is about defending. Trying to win is a collaboration between trying to stop them and trying to attack them.

DC, it’s not right to suggest a persons point of view is a product of ignorance of our history. That’s a bit harsh. We are all acquainted with our rich history and we all have differing views. Like you are with Silva, I was the same with Martinez. There’s not much between us other than preference that we can both find points to back up.

This forum is an opportunity to air our opinions to like minded fellow blues. Like minded in the pursuit of silverware and the memory of our great history.

25 Aug 2019 11:30:22
Am I going mad?

"Trying to win is about having tactics to stop the opposition"? No that is tactics to get at best a 0-0 draw like the dross Allardyce served up.

However the number of clean sheets we have had shows Silva knows how to do this - stop the opposition - so what is your point?

Please talk some sense.

25 Aug 2019 15:13:53
DC didn't you want Allardyce to stay? Yes you did. Now you want to win every game. And you think we're confused, your comments are all over the place.
Silvas defensive record is as sound as anyone's in the league, the proof is there to show that.
As for great history that will forever be tarnished by your mate Allardyce the crook.

25 Aug 2019 16:25:05
He goes out most games to attack, not the same as to win it (I accept the fact that no manager worth his salt goes out to lose) . Two ways for me either attack in such a way (Liverpool way mostly) , creating so much pressure that on the whole the opposition find it hard to get off the back foot, (again I accept the side has to be extremely fit - physically -. ) The other way is to absorb and hold and endeavour an extremely fast counter attack. What we are now seeing from Silva is akin to Martinez but without the wearing all the time positivity. You will note that this season (3 games in yes I know) , I have not called for his head, our bed has been made and I have no wish to go down the road of told you so. We have a brilliant DoF, who is slowly getting his back room together, my fervent hope is that Silva takes advantage of his (Brands recruitment) . Brilliant BBC article on Brands recruitment process, sheds light (at last) on the human side of this great Club an insight into how we were able to attract Moise (will work out probably in my view to be one of our best scores in decades) . Posted earlier on the Lincoln game and a chance to bed our new recruits into the Team and hopefully, works out solid for Wolves game. Believe me that will be a test, said beginning of last Season they are the side to watch, they will be top 6/ 7 this season.

100% agree with Smit on this one. I read more than I post and sometimes find it hard to see where dc’s coming from at all. Opinions are opinions but it seems to me that he doesn’t support the team at all. If Brands is more than happy with Silva being our manager then I’d take his opinion over dc’s every day of the week. As for Allardyce, c'mon now he must be one of our poorest appointments in years, maybe a relative to dc. Skylark, a draw at Liverpool when they were on a high and had the league in there hands. Our draw pretty much stopped them from winning the title, I for one will take that, it was an excellent result. Some fans on here post just to get a response, I’m the sort of fan that gets behind our beloved team whoever’s in charge home and away ( and that includes Big Sam) .

25 Aug 2019 17:42:12
Smit and bw, great posts, but I would not waste my breath on some of the doom mungers mate.

Every man and his dog can see the dross we had a few seasons ago.

We have yet to get a Kean, Iowbi and Delph into the team or play Silvas preferred 4-4-3.

We saw towards the end of last season how we held our own and even bettered the top sides.

You can even go back to the 85 and 87 Championship sides we had, check the results for the first few games, we never start well, god knows why, but we just seem to drop points early doors.

Keep the faith Smit and bw, results will follow.

25 Aug 2019 18:17:07
4 4 3 eh! Certainly have an advantage there then.

25 Aug 2019 18:31:51
I agree Bignev I made a decision to not give certain posters on here any airtime and recently I have started to.
I will revert back to ignoring the usual suspects.

25 Aug 2019 19:45:52
Give you that one dfs, 4-3-3.

26 Aug 2019 01:31:51
Show me a manager that sets a team up to lose, you crazy people! What are you even talking about? 'He goes out most games to attack, not the same as to win it' what sort of crazy talk is that?
If you don't attack then you don't win. Honestly, have an effing word with yourself!
